I booked with Adonai based on the strong reviews. I asked for Senegalese twists and was quoted $350, which I thought was very expensive for the service. Before the appointment, she told me a wash would be an additional $30, so I opted to wash and prep my own hair. I went ahead thinking the quality must justify the price. The appointment took about 7 hours for medium mid back length. At first, I couldn't figure out what felt off about the style, but once I got home I noticed several twists in the back were already unraveling. I reached out and she offered to fix them, which I appreciated. People pointed out how bulky it looked and the parting was not well done. When I returned, she did adjust the middle part. I also asked if some of the twists could be combined to reduce the volume because it felt like I had a helmet on. She wasn't very open to that and said it wouldn't look good. She said the frizz in the back was due to my hair texture and that there was nothing she could do about it. She mentioned she needed to cut but did not want to without permission. I absolutely respect that, but as a client I expect to be informed while I'm in the chair so I can decide what works best for me. The twisting itself was decent, but the style is too heavy, the parting is inconsistent, and the frizz will likely cause the style to look worn out too quickly. On top of that, the uneven parting makes the style substantially less versatile when it comes to styling options. I ended up paying $370 with tip, and in my opinion this style should not have cost more than $280 even at the high end. I have to wear it half up and half down just to make it manageable. She mentioned I should have said something because the style would have been cheaper and faster. I told her I didn't know I had to tell her about the parts. I'm curious what the cheaper price would have been because a lash was getting box braids in the shop and told me she was quoted $300. Maybe it was a miscommunication, but I have never had to specify that I wanted neat, square parts. That has always been a standard expectation with braiders I have gone to in the past. Adonai was kind and did agree to fix some things, but overall I am disappointed and would not book again at this price point for this quality. read more

I'm really disappointed in the EXTREME lack of quality in her work. She did a horrible job on my daughters hair and now she refuses to fix it. Look at this mess! The colors aren't even blended. The braids have lumps. It looks like a child braided her hair. I believe she took advantage of the fact that my daughter is young and has a very kind heart. $300 for braids that look like a person new to braiding did her hair. If you look closer at other pics on here and social media, you see her quality of word in not good. Do NOT use her. read more

Firstly I would like to give a huge thank you once again to Mrs.Adonai (owner) and Mrs.Nag.I normally never go to a new braider unless it's work that I have seen but I took a chance and I went in on Thursday and was able to be seen The very next day.These ladies did an awesome job on my hair. While I love that Adonai (Addi) is a meticulous hair braider, her prices have gotten ridiculous. She quoted me a price of $330 for midback box braids and $400 for waist length box braids, including hair. I have a hard time understanding or accepting the price being that high for synthetic hair and length should have absolutely nothing to do with it--especially for synthetic hair. Nor can you give me an excuse for the price being that high due to supply chain shortages. As a hairbraiding salon, I'm quite sure loads of hairbraiding hair is stocked. So, at this point, I can't help but believe there is some price gouging going on here. And, trust me I know that box braids take time to install, but that is still not an excuse for the exorbitant pricing. Not when you have African hairbraiding shops on every other corner. Though I was disappointed that Addi refused to budge on the $330/$400 price, I guess it was just time for me to move on. Of course, quite easily I found another African hairbraiding salon and had a phenomenal experience with them. They were customer-service friendly, box braided my hair just as meticulously, and charged me $180 with hair included; plus I got the waist length that I wanted. Anywhere from $160-$200 should be about the average price for synthetic box braids. At least that is what most other African shops are charging for box braids--whether you choose to get midback or waist length. I appreciated the convenience of where Adonair Hair Braiding Studio is located but certainly don't mind shopping around if the price is right elsewhere and the quality is just as good. read more

I recommend this business. I got two large French braids that have lasted for a month now with the proper washing and oiling technique. Pricey service if you have to get a shampoo its $20 extra so shampoo and deep condition before you need to get your hair braided. read more
