Extremely disappointing Driver's Ed experience. Incredibly disorganized. Office, driving…read moreinstructors and lecturers do not communicate. For two consecutive weeks lectures were cancelled on-site because the office failed to coordinate with the school in advance, resulting in kids being stranded in a dark hallway high school hallway with no security or adult supervision. Multiple calls to the office were answered by office staff who could not help, offered no apology or provided no follow up action. In additional to failing to properly coordinate classroom availability, they do little if anything to ensure the safety of students at the school as evidenced by the attached photo showing a typical Sat morning class - no lights, long hallways and no adult supervision (see photo). On days when lectures were cancelled in advance (eg. holidays) the office has no idea whether drivers are planning to show up. You are instructed to contact the driver directly, but they will not provide driver contact info. The first lecturer was fired because numerous students complained about highly offensive remarks and inappropriate behavior. Since then there has been a new teacher every week with no handoff from one to the other, resulting in a disconnected learning experience. The mid-term exam was administered by surprise on the same day as the SAT when many students were absent. Despite numerous requests no one on the office knows when this can be made up. Requests for the MV-278 have gone unanswered - apparently the office can not find the certificate book and despite the fact that 21 hours of class time have already been logged. As frustrating as it is for a parent, it is even more frustrating for the student who is already under the stresses of being a HS junior. Completing Drivers Ed and scheduling the road test are things kids should be excited about. Instead mine is wondering if and when this will happen because the office is clueless.

After I was cutoff, the driver sped down a semi residential street. It amazes me that someone would drive a company vehicle, clearly labeled with a business name on the side in such a manner. Driving has been my biggest challenge and I'm glad I signed up for the 6-7 lessons package. Although I'm still a new driver I feel so much more confident. Andy helped me work on problem areas such as my left/right turns, steering the wheel correctly and merging. Andy was straightforward and didn't make me feel overwhelmed. Which I greatly appreciate because it doesn't help when you have an instructor who's got a very uptight energy. I've had 3 different instructors over the course of the 5 lessons. They were all kind and calm and good at helping me understand the tips and tricks to getting parking down pat and also turns which is the only thing I needed to work on to feel confident in passing my road test. I had my road test on Thursday. We met up near the testing site before my test about an hour before. The 4 stars is due to the fact that I didn't get a mock test/review right before the road test that whole hour before my appointment. Which I needed because the person that showed up to my test I hadn't met before from the driving school. His car was a newer car, and I hadn't practiced in it before so I wasn't familiar with the feel and sensitivity of the car when driving(you know every car is different). Luckily I had a kind and understanding examiner assess me, and she was able to pick up on the fact that I was a good driver that just hadn't gotten practice in that car before. My test was super quick and I passed on the first try. I've been to one other driving school and scheduled a road test with them before (this was my first time ever driving at 17/18 almost 10 years ago in NJ). With the car rental they gave me a review before my road test which I didn't do well on because the instructor clearly wasn't very good at his job. All in all, despite that minor complaint about the road test day, I would still recommend Lucy's driving school because their staff was nice and good at teaching. Just be sure that if you're booking the road test with them that you at least get a car you've been practicing in. I'm lucky I was still able to do well enough to pass despite not having had the chance to familiarize myself with this different (newer) vehicle.
