The school itself seems good since my siblings used Golden Crown and had instructors who actually taught them everything, but AVOID PETER AT ALL COSTS. He was a complete waste of money. I first had him last summer. He never remembered how many lessons I paid for and constantly had to ask me. Instead of teaching me required test skills like 3-point turns and parallel parking during the first 5 lessons I bought, he just had me driving around the neighborhood like an idiot. He only took me on the main street on the last day of the package and never went over parallel parking/3 point turns. When confronted about not giving me enough practice/instruction, he claimed I "wasn't ready" for that stuff--which is his job to teach! And even if I "wasn't ready" like he said I was, you are still supposed to teach everything, including 3-point turns and parallel parking. Because of this, we were forced to waste more money on a second package this summer. Even then, I had to physically demand that he teach me parallel parking and 3-point turns, or he wouldn't have done it at all. He INSISTED that I genuinely was too low in skill to start learning 3-point turns, parallel parking, and going on busy roads, and when I told him that my siblings still got taught all this stuff regardless of their "level", he had the nerve to try to say that maybe they were more ready/prepared for that than me (they most definitely weren't). He was somewhat hard to understand due to a noticeable accent and constantly lied about basic maneuvers being "automatic failures" when they weren't. I failed my first test because of his terrible preparation. I ended up practicing entirely on my own after the lessons package was over and passed my second test at Orangeburg with flying colors with zero help from him about 2 weeks ago, proving that I'm not the issue. Apparently I was SO bad I wasn't ready for further instruction, but now I'm a licensed driver in the SAME SUMMER. Wonder how that works... The school has some pretty good instructors, so request someone else and stay far away from Peter. read more

I paid for 5 lessons with this school and just walked away after a few lessons. The first lesson, we went on the saw mill (I have a permit so this is not allowed) and it was pouring rain. That instructor never came back. The next instructor hated me because he showed up 50 minutes late to my lesson and I have kids so I could no longer be gone for an hour and a half and had to cancel. The next time he came he was big mad and low key abusive lol so I never went back. I'm an adult student so this learning process has been a lot for me.... Crown was not helpful. School says they offer pick up and drop off but then told me they offer Pickup in Fishkill and Carmel, both are over an hour away. The person in charge of booking sessions is outright extremely unprofessional, rude and discourteous. It is hard to fathom how a company with such a representative facing the public will manage to survive. I set up a schedule with this company for numerous driving lessons for my child and prepaid for the services. Days later I received a voicemail from the company indicating that a session had to be cancelled because the teacher would not be available. I called back to reschedule and the first person who answered was struggling a bit to ascertain what my schedule was and whether a session even needed to be cancelled. Then the "person in charge" gets on the line and starts berating and shouting over me as I was attempting merely to explain the situation. She then cancels the entire schedule before I could even properly respond. It also painstakingly underscores the ignorance of this person acting in such a manner with a customer whom she does not even know. I am in the service business myself. I will use this case as a seminal example to others aspiring to succeed in an enterprise of exactly what not to do - not just from a professional standpoint but also in simply acting as a decent human being. read more

I called today to schedule my last driving lesson, I told the person who answered the phone it had been a while since my last lesson and I just wanted to schedule the last lesson I paid for. The woman who answered the phone was extremely rude, nasty, and condescending., and told me that since it had been over a year she was not going to honor it and I would have to book all new lessons. when I told her that was on the web page or any forms or my contract, she still said I don't care " and still not going to honor it. I then asked to speak to the manager and she '' Stated I was the MANAGER disrespectfully'' I also told her that it was a medical reason and still condescendingly and disrespectfully I didn't care. I then asked to talk to the owner and she said I will tell him. I would stay far far away from this place if you can. The owner of this company should be ashamed and embarrassed of how his employees treat customers. especially when the manager was told it was for medical reasons. read more

0 stars if I could. Absolute horror of an experience. We completed a Zoom 5 hour class with this business and they sent us a certificate with a misspelled name on it. It then took me 10+ phone calls to get a simple corrected certificate mailed. First, I was lied to and told the new corrected document was mailed. When it never arrived and I followed up, I was yelled at and told the misspelling "would be fine" and I could PAY an additional $40 for a new certificate or sit through another 5 hour course?! After insisting that this business rectify a mistake that was made ON THEIR END, the "supervisor" Carmen, SCREAMED into the phone that she did not want to talk to me anymore, "wanted this behind her" and pointed out she had other things to do. This woman hung up on me more than 5 times throughout this entire ordeal. I finally got through to another employee who ultimately connected me to another supervisor named Stephen who sorted out our issue and sent us a new document. I was literally SHOCKED at how absolutely rude, unprofessional and incompetent Ms Carmen was. As a business, I find it hard to believe they have never made a mistake nor know/have protocol on HOW TO CORRECT SUCH A MISTAKE. I am still waiting for the supervisor, Steven, to call me. I have made several attempts to resolve by calling and still absolutely nothing. With so many choices, pick somewhere else. Can't tell you how happy we were with the class my son took as a refresher right before his road test (passed the next day). I wish I remembered the instructors name (think he said use to be in the military). Really nice guy and knew what he was doing. Among other pointers, he gave my teenager a "hack", if you will, with respect to parallel parking - his former weakness (where to line up your car next to the one next to the open spot, when to turn the wheel, etc). Yesterday I had my first lesson with Wilson, who was great! Very calm, patient and knowledgeable about what is needed to prepare for the road test, which I have in a few days. I've taken several lessons with Golden Crown Driving School but due to COVID had a long period of time where I was unable to use my lessons. Wilson helped me brush up on parallel parking and three point turns, was honest and gave me constructive criticism on what I needed to work on while at the same time helped to build my confidence. Feeling good about taking my road test in 2 days time! Overall Golden Crown has been amazing. I am almost 30 and finally decided to get my license. They are affordable and have made it easy to buy and book classes and learn what's needed for the road test. The instructors are nice, patient, professional and knowledgeable. I've actually recommended them to my stepmom who is looking to get her license and will continue to recommend them to anyone in the NYC area looking to learn to drive and get their license. read more

If I could give less then 1 star I would. Stephen who seems to be one of the owners is a liar. I paid for 1 lesson for 90 minutes. After he missed our first scheduled meeting because he was "too busy" he then rescheduled. He said he would give an extra hour for free. Then he proceeded to cancel the next two sessions. Both sessions were canceled less then 1 hour before the lesson was supposed to start. He made multiple excuses. One of which was that he was going to spend time at the hospital with his great grandmother. Kind of funny that he made this decision 30 minutes before our lesson. The other reason was that his breaks stopped working on his car. This was also told to us 30 minutes prior to our lesson. So in all, I paid for a 90 minute lesson, plus was given an additional 60 minutes because he had to cancel the first lesson 30 minutes prior to the lesson. Do NOT use this service. I promise you can find a better one. read more

Zero stars if I could. I bought a driving lesson package for 6 hours. On my first class Julio, the instructor, just taught me half an hour out of that 2 hour section and told me that it was almost impossible for me to learn because Spanish is my first language. Of course it would have been almost imposible for me to learn if I had stayed with them. All they wanted to do was take my money and not teach me anything. After going through this bad experience I switch over to another driving school. Six months later I have my CDL license. I DO NOT recommend Golden Crown Driving School. read more

Money hungry business. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!! Purchased the four 1 hour driving lessons for my daughter, along with the option to take road test in their car. She had already taken her 5 hour course through them. They claimed she never did and needed to take it again for added cost. When she scheduled her lessons, they demanded that she pay an extra $60 fee to be picked up for the lesson. On their website it states "pick up option is included". A week later they called my daughter again claiming we never paid for her lessons and demanded another $400+ payment from her. Even with proof of payment/transaction, they still demanded the payment. All they want is more money. Don't bother with this driving school. Take your money to a more reputable company. read more

Choosing this driving school for my 16 year old was a 'shot in the dark' during the Covid pandemic in May 2021. I had no idea about the school but had passed it numerous times in my travels on Central Avenue in WP. I found them to be very professional and efficient in any and all required paperwork. My son had lessons with Craig, whom he liked very much and found him to be very knowledgeable in his guidance and instructions. When it was time to get his license, Golden Crown made all the arrangements and they took him to get his license using the instructors vehicle. He passed the test, 1st try! I have another child who will need driving instructions and I'm definitely going back to Golden Crown. read more

I found this place through Yelp and Google reviews, the reviews made me comfortable to reach out. I booked 1.5 hr classes. I was picked up at my home and when I booked a few classes, they offered to let me pay in two installments. The woman on the phone was always super friendly and helpful. I went through a few different instructors until I found the one, Paul! Mr. Paul makes you work hard to get results! He's kind, but won't sugar coat. He'll help push you to the potential he knows you have inside! After his lessons you'll truly feel like an experienced and knowledgable safe driver. His driving lessons always reflect real life, take control! I passed my first road test with a great low score and I owe it all to Mr. Paul. I found Golden Crown Driving School through Google and I'm happy I moved forward with them. I invested in five hours at Crown to prepare for my road test. Tommy has been an excellent instructor - giving me an amazing formula for parallel parking, which is where I needed the most guidance. Tommy also provided feedback at the end of each lesson and creates a space for me to ask questions before our next lesson. It has been so helpful to practice driving with him. I feel confident about my ability to complete a successful 3 point turn and have the advice to perfect my parallel parking. I'm so disappointed about this driving school, I did my 5 hour class Online by zoom, because they offer to give you a certificate number in the day of the online class and is suppose to email you the certificate on the next business day, but is not true. I need to do an road test appointment fast but know I'll have to wait for 10 days to receive the certificate. So please don't fool people. read more

So far I am not having a good experience with this driving school. I canceled my son's driving lesson because of the big storm and since it was not 24 hour notice did not refund my account. And they will not drive anywhere other than white plains so if you need your child to learn other road ways they will not take him. So far have not had a good experience and I have a 10 package so I can't get out of the lessons since I have paid for them already. Great experience with both of my kids. Dave was their instructor and he was patient and thorough. He also incidentally was my nephew's instructor, and did a great job with them. He got them prepared for their road tests, gave good advice, and ultimately helped them get their licenses. The scheduling team is great as well. They are responsive and know their business. I paid for a zoom class for my son however had to cancel due to a death in the family and notified staff prior to class date. I was assured that there will be no problem with rescheduling. I spoke to the staff on Friday to reschedule for a Sunday class and they stated I would receive a zoom link but never did. I called and spoke to Nubia today to explain what happened and she is extremely rude and unprofessional. She dated "she is just the secretary and has no responsibility over what happened". I then asked her so what happens if I don't receive zoom link again? She stated " Well you have to keep calling". Unprofessional at the highest level. Keep calling???? They barely answer the phone. Allegedly my son will be put in for the Tuesday evening class. Let's see if I will receive a zoom link. I attended this driving school for my 5 hour class years ago and they were great.
