Very poor customer service. it takes forever to get them on the phone too. They do not support their own equipment. Beware, you will pay every time they come out. Zero warranty even though the salesman says you are covered. I have been trying to cancel, but when I call they deceitfully say I signed up for an offer when my equipment doesn't work. It's not the Syracuse office that is the problem. It's John S.T. That's a huge problem at corporate. Customer service speaks poor English. They screw up billing so you have to babysit them. John accused me of not paying my bill when I'm on automatic payment and the mistake was on their end, and yes, there was plenty of room on my card for the other charge ( that by the way, I cannot get a straight answer on what the payment is supposed to be). I have had the ADT security system for approximately 12 years. For the first 7 years, it worked well. However, despite paying for all the upgrades that ADT recommended, the system has not worked well for the last 5 years. I'm now at the point where I have done everything possible, including purchasing the best possible equipment, and if they cannot keep my system on-line and operating, I will discontinue their service. They are also deceptive in their service. I was quoted a $60 charge for a service call and then they added $135.00 for the technician. The quote should have been $195 as I don't think they generally send a truck without a technician....I have also worked (more successfully) with my internet provider to upgrade everything. Worst company EVER! Customer service is rude and would not allow me to speak with a manager when I called many times to try to resolve issue. Defender is the local franchise-They have lied and misrepresented. They took advantage of my 87 year old mother, treated her like she was his Grandma-hugging her, etc. She was lied to by the technician who stated several times there was a 30 day cancellation policy. After 2 weeks of being scared every time she opened the door and she was unable to use the system, decided to cancel. We were shocked to find out it was 3 DAYS! The best part is he ordered her to wait 3 days before activating the service! To this day, the installer insists it's a 30 day cancellation policy. read more

I was promised a 100 dollar visa gift card if I signed up with this FRAUD company ,,, five months later and still NO GIFT CARD!! I am so frustrated with this phony company, 2 more months and we can get out of this horrible experience. In the 3 years we've had to put up with this company, not once have we ever heard from anyone if our alarm goes off. Now I just got a notice they're raising their service price....again... due to taxes they have no control over. I wouldn't mind paying the price if I was getting the service! I just called the company to ask why once again the price was going up, she wouldn't listen to anything I had to say, she just said it was because of taxes and she basically cut me right off. I've never had such horrible service with any company and I've had a few in my time but ADT is absolutely the worst. They make it sound like such a wonderful thing in the beginning . I can't wait to cancel this contract and move on to a much more competent business. Scam, tech came to my house, installed the keypad before anything, then did a safety assessment and found out I needed an additional 5k in equipment after the keypad was installed on the wall. Later refused to leave, eventually I gave in and signed up but with only partial windows protected, not enough for what I needed. Later the system does not even work like advertised, called customer service, they did not want to help me, later resolved issue on my own but other issues have come up since. I want to cancel, thought I had 30 says, apparently it's 3 days and I'm stuck now with a $1500 termination fee. Never go with this type of company with how they treat people. Getting the Nest system, paying out of pocket and will own my security system after this contract is done. read more

Look long and hard before getting ADT security. Free install is not free and they are like salesmen trying to sell you more than you need . ADT uses a company called Defender and they could be Ex cons they are rude and tell you lies until you just give up. My system has been offline for 3 days now and no one has even reached out to me glad its not a robbery in progress. Called the toll free number to get information about their offers. I gave permission for them to use my phone number to call me back ONLY if we got disconnected. Now I'm getting two phone calls a day from a salesman! Very annoying hard sell on the phone, and now this! The system was out of our price range, but they won't give up. NOT happy! read more

I called and made an appointment. No one showed up so I called company. Was told this happens frequently and the policy is to just reschedule. I would expect a PROFESSIONAL company to call me if the appointment will not be kept.
