UPDATE (one day later)...I was contacted by ADT after filing a compliant with BBB. They are no longer over charging us, rather they apologized and were willing to accept $244.35 (less than the 75% of our remaining balance) as a final early cancellation fee. I am grateful for the phone call but wish it had not been needed and that we could have cancelled this easily through the representative that we spoke with as a customer calling a service provider. I am happy though with the resolution and cancellation of services. read more

I have rated this company low and will continue with crappy customer service and support. You cannot get anyone on the phone without waiting for 30 minutes or more on hold. I will not use this service ever again! read more

If I could give a zero I would. Have had ADT for over 10 years. Thankfully never needed them. Today, I finally needed an immediate response since our fire alarm randomly went off. NO fire, No smoke. After a 50 minute hold for advanced tech support it still wouldn't turn off . They had ME get ladders out and climb into closets, unscrewing their breaker box to find their large "car type" (their words), battery and disconnect it, "one wire at a time" as to not get shocked. Take the batteries out of all the smoke alarms then unplug the system completely. Meanwhile our dog is thoroughly traumatized because this high pitched LOUD alarm kept randomly going off. He wont come back inside the house. First call was at 12:26 pm. After we finally took the batteries out of everything, unplugged everything and completely disarmed the system it was 2:00pm. Doesn't give confidence on what their response would be if the fire alarm were real. An hour and 34 minute response time for help is unacceptable. With that all said, we tried to cancel service, and wouldn't you know they don't make that easy either. You can't do it online and even though they say they are open 24/7 the people that can cancel your contract aren't in on the weekends. You can't leave a message for them and no one can give them a message. Further, apparently there is paperwork you have to sign and send in to start the cancellation "process". Up until now I would have recommended ADT. But once I actually had to use the service I found out how bad it was. Can't recommend this to anyone. read more

The customer service was great however it was worse than going to buy a car. There are no prices listed anywhere for you to see and the installers had to "call outside" to try to get a better deal every time. ADT posts advertisements everywhere about all the free equipment and the low monthly fees. The first quote the installers gave me was nearly $7,000 and then came down to $1150 and said thats the lowest it goes even with the "friends and family discount." Everything I wanted was in the advertisement as part of the included equipment and somehow, $1150 plus $52 a month is the "best" deal i can get. Look at the ad attached, thats what i wanted and somehow the best deal possible was $1150 even with over "$600" worth of free equipment. read more

This company is more than double the cost of other companies and for horrible service. If the security systems is triggered and is turned off they don't respond AT ALL. What a complete rip off. I would not recommend them under any circumstance. read more

Whenever ADT wants to advertise, it uses the "FREE" Visa Gift Card that is NOT FREE! Not only do you have to pay a $4.95 processing fee, but it HAS to be a "Cashier's Check," and YOU pay the Postage, so, READ the small print to realize free is not FREE!! I don't know how VISA, or ADT, for that matter, can get away with this !! The "company" that the "processing fee" has to be sent to is "Mpell," whatever the heck THAT is. It sounds a little too much "hand-in-hand" to me...AND, WHO would buy a "GIFT CARD," from VISA (Vanilla, or otherwise) when YOU have to pay the "off the top" fee of $4.95, anyway?? I suggest, buy an Olive Garden, Chili's, or ANY other Gift card that does NOT charge a fee off the top. It's a real SCAM! read more

Absolutely Horrible. Have had the service a little over a year and keep having to change the batteries. After the 3rd time of us changing them, the batteries are $5.00 at WalMart, adt charges a $25.00 service call to change it and they charge $10.00 for the battery. If you don't have the battery and it takes a few days to go get it, well get ready for those 2:00 AM calls from adt informing you that your battery is dead. Yes, you heard me right at 2:00 am. I called and complained, but they said that is when they do the automated call. Not it is 2 mths later and I was woken by ADT at 2:00 AM letting me know my battery is low, but this time it is the backup battery that costs $40.00. I have talked to 4 people at ADT today and gotten 4 different answers. They do not have a corporate office here so it is all contract workers, but they still don't care. The one time they did come out cause I had changed the battery in the same sensor 3 times within 2 months they said 14 of the 17 sensors were installed incorrectly which meant another day off work for another appointment to reinstall. I asked if they would change the batteries in those sensors since that obviously drained the batteries and they said they would have to charge me $5.00. I had to keep replacing the batteries at $5.00 each to stop the 2:00 AM automated calls so I could get some sleep. No one at ADT that I have spoken to in the last 9 mths has told me the automated call could be turned off until today. Why didn't they tell me that on any of the conversations I have had with them over the calls? The worst company in the world. They get NEGATIVE stars from me, wish I had of never signed up with them. read more
