Haven't been here for more years than I care to admit to, but I found myself back gor a Christmas…read moreget together. It took me back to the days of goingbto local neighborhood bars. While the place isn't fancy, it's comfortable and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Might not be the place for trendy cocktails, but its good for a quiet get away

I visited this bar for karaoke on a Friday night and am very unimpressed by the karaoke hosts and…read morethe way they managed their system: Here are the issues: 1. The announcer was intoxicated: A rule of thumb for karaoke hosts is to always be aware and able to run karaoke to the best of their ability. After several drinks, the KJ was noticeably under the influence and being rude while interrupting karaoke singers. He may have thought he was being funny, but it came across to me as rude and unappreciative of the singers. 2. The announcer would interrupt songs with commentary: The KJ would frequently interrupt the singers (on his mic) with commentary and jokes. I found this extremely disrespectful to the singers. It was distracting to the singers, the audience, and made me feel uncomfortable. 3. The announcer was rude to me directly: During one song, he started laughing and made a comment of "well if you were to do it right". I know he somehow meant it as a joke, but I was embarrassed and that was completely uncalled for. At the end of the night, he restated he appreciated me coming out and hopes that I'd return, but as a KJ myself, there are things you just don't do when running karaoke. Being sober and able to make good judgments, respecting people when it's their time to shine, and being courteous to those around you are essential. This will be my first and last time visiting the Red Lion Lounge.

Cute, clean store. It's nice to find a place to purchase a used book with little wear. I found the…read moreemployees to be very helpful and kind. Keeping in mind it is a used store so the selection can be limited, I thought they had many books and authors to choose from. They also carry games, puzzles, CDs and records.

Cheaper than new - obviously. But a new book at $12.99 is selling for like $8.99. Better to shop goodwill bins as books are some of the last affordable things at thrift stores. As a seller I took $70 for a collection of about 200 quality dvds. sold individually on eBay or Amazon if I had the time probably $500-1000. Same with the books. I have gotten $50 for a case of 100/150 best selling hardbacks. You never know as one time I brought in quality mint condition coffee table books - my offer for the lot of 50... $2. So I don't know what the deal is but the worst thing is they don't return your books. Some they take and will throw away or donate because the don't want to offend. I wish I had the option to take the books they knew they were gonna trash. All in all, they are only game in town u nless you want to do this full time. And I see them taking advantage. But that's our America. Read they are private family owned. Interesting.

My husband and I attended a Dinner Detective at the Double Tree for a unique Valentine's weekend…read moredate night. I would recommend getting their early so you have time to park in the ramp, take the elevator to the 12th floor, purchase a drink from the bar, take a picture of your group to commemorate the night, and check in. They don't start checking people in until the starting time. You need to pick a fake name to go by for the night. It could be a favorite author, a famous person, or something silly or off the wall. Then, they will give you your table assignment and the game begins. Anyone you encounter with a name tag could be the murderer. They will introduce the victim, the detectives, and a slew of suspects, some of which are actors and some are regular attendees like yourself. You can pay extra when you buy your tickets to have someone in your party become a suspect. You have a chance to win a prize if you guess the murderer correctly. Our main courses were really good, but the cheesecake was dry. My husband, who was tentative at the beginning, was all into it by the end of the night and even said he wanted to attend another in the future. I would recommend if you want to try something out of the ordinary, you can lean into the experience, and not take yourself too seriously since it is silly at times.

Cousin elected for her bridal party to experience a fun, yet stress-relieving pottery event,…read moreinviting a friend she knew from her pottery class, also held here, and me along for the ride. The instructor knew my cousin and thanked and commended her for sharing her love for working with clay with her friends and family. After showing us the basics of creating a slab mug: base, foundation, and formation of a handle, and how to construct them altogether, we each were given a ball of clay to create our masterpieces. We had access to several rolling pins, stamps, and pottery tools, as well as several paint colors to decorate our creations with. We were told that after our pieces are allowed to air-dry, our instructor will apply a final glaze, bake these in the kilns, and give them to my cousin so that she may send these off to us. Expect about a two-week turnover time. Don't worry about ruining your clothes as you work on your creations, because you will get clay and paint on yourself- bring an apron if you want extra insurance. I had blue paint all over my favorite Crazy Shirts red Honu shirt, but it all came out in the wash and left my shirt looking as vibrant and feeling soft, as always. The building that houses the ceramics store also has other classrooms (drawing, painting, mosaics, etc.) and shops to peruse and purchase from. My cousin and I returned a few days after the event and enjoyed looking at other students' finished clay works and shopped at Illuminations, which showcases crystals and gems, jewelry, incense and herbs, and chocolates, to name but a few of so many interesting finds! Would definitely return on my next visits with cousin and her new groom!
