I visited this bar for karaoke on a Friday night and am very unimpressed by the karaoke hosts and the way they managed their system: Here are the issues: 1. The announcer was intoxicated: A rule of thumb for karaoke hosts is to always be aware and able to run karaoke to the best of their ability. After several drinks, the KJ was noticeably under the influence and being rude while interrupting karaoke singers. He may have thought he was being funny, but it came across to me as rude and unappreciative of the singers. 2. The announcer would interrupt songs with commentary: The KJ would frequently interrupt the singers (on his mic) with commentary and jokes. I found this extremely disrespectful to the singers. It was distracting to the singers, the audience, and made me feel uncomfortable. 3. The announcer was rude to me directly: During one song, he started laughing and made a comment of "well if you were to do it right". I know he somehow meant it as a joke, but I was embarrassed and that was completely uncalled for. At the end of the night, he restated he appreciated me coming out and hopes that I'd return, but as a KJ myself, there are things you just don't do when running karaoke. Being sober and able to make good judgments, respecting people when it's their time to shine, and being courteous to those around you are essential. Rude bar tender. We asked if card reader had tap to pay. We did have cash, and our friend offered to pay tab. This is before we even ordered. We were then told we were condescending, when I asked him why he was upset with us and showed him we had cash, he told me I was a bitch .said he did not have time for us and kicked us out of the bar. When multiple patrons explained, wow..this guy is like the nicest guy. The bar tender was more belligerent and continued to call me a bitch and yelled at the door these two are out. We were there with a group. Very disappointed, we had a fun night before we stopped there. Never expected that kind of treatment.. We will never go back. read more

How fun is this place?! Perfect night out!! We went spontaneously! Karaoke crew was awesome!! Dressed in a tux! It's a 70's/80's feel. Drinks are good and effective!! Staff is fun and friendly!!! Big age range! Couples in their 70's were out there dancing the night away! Singing the old songs! So so fun!! Everyone is just there to have a fun time!!! Definitely going back!! read more

Went for local color and karaoke. The Red Lion didn't disappoint. Great drink prices.

What a strange place. It's like walking into 1970 - smell and all. It's super dark in there and smells like stale smoke. Ew. It was kind of just...all bad. The smell, the service, the building, the karaoke. The server was rude, you could hardly see in there because it was so dark, the people running the karaoke were not real welcoming to anyone else wanting to do karaoke (but they sure thought THEY were special!). Wow...Where to start? Red Lion Lounge HAS to be the strangest, most, "I swear I've seen this place in a movie", old school, funky, dive bar that I have ever personally experienced. For starters, if you meet someone there, do it outside because once you're in, you can't see more than two feet in front of you! Where are the bar lights? Can I get a little ambiance up in here?! And I'm not quite sure how but the second you walk through those doors, you see a haze and are bombarded with smoke smell. What is happening in here? Don't expect the servers to be nice... Side note - I highly discourage you from ordering wine. It's not that kinda place and you WILL be judged by that waitress. Yikes! And speaking of the service, you probably won't be waited on so put on your walking shoes and head your backside to the bar! My last little tidbit on this darling establishment is regarding their karaoke team, "Singin' and Swingin'". 1- They don't care if YOU, the paying patron, want to sing. Sit down and shut up until these two have had their way with Frank Sinatra and Michael Buble! Side note #2 - Don't you dare sing anything besides Frank or Michael. This ain't the kinda place for Brittney Spears and Miranda Lambert, ya dig? Lastly, while you're singing, should you be blessed enough to get the chance, Mr. Swingin and Singin will talk the ENTIRE time into the microphone like he's narrating your entire performance. On this particular night he had about 17 jokes, comments and stories about tuberculosis and if you think for a second that I'm kidding, I implore you to check this hole out.... You'll likely be disappointed... But only if you wanted to actually see your date and sing some karaoke while being served by a friendly wait staff. read more

As has been mentioned, the karaoke on Saturday nights is the best in CR, hands down. But the staff is also quite nice. Contrary to what yelp says, however, they do NOT accept credit cards. Better hit the ATM before Singin' & Swingin'. read more
