Advance America and the people working at this location seem perfectly friendly and helpful. However, I did deduct stars because supposedly they didn't have *quite* enough cash on hand to give me a full cash amount, so they offered a "Purpose" Visa card with the rest of my funds on it. DO NOT ACCEPT these cards if you can possibly avoid it. They are the worst! First of all, they don't work like gift cards. If you have a small balance, you can't just swipe it to pay for something and have that amount deducted from the total you owe. It will decline the transaction if you don't have the funds on the card to pay for the full transaction. It's very difficult to use the last of YOUR funds if they're on this card. And if you don't use every last cent, after a month, they will start charging a fee which WILL gobble up the last of YOUR funds. I was able to ask the clerk at one store if she could charge the card only exactly the amount I knew was available on it. Since it wasn't busy and she was nice, she did this for me, then I paid the rest of my tab with her as usual. I was glad to be done with the card and have the last of my funds off of it. BUT, I continued to get text message updates from the card. After sending me a text telling my my balance was now zero, I still got MORE texts from them, telling me nonsensical things that didn't apply to me. I tried the old trick of replying with "stop" and I did get a confirmation that the texts would stop, but only time will tell. NOW there's just the steady stream of daily annoying e-mails from Purpose. I've unsubscribed from them three times already and yet I still get daily e-mails. tl;dr: Advance America might be fine, but DO NOT let them give you one of these cards. Cash only, or deposit to your account. The Purpose card is an annoyance at best; a way to bleed you of money at worst. I'm not going to be cynical and think that they deliberately don't have enough cash in order to herd you toward the Purpose card. read more

Didn't have any issues with location, issue was with Money Gram themselves (800)922-7146 they are located in Nicaragua (India) because I called to correct a single letter I was denied had to request a cancellation and re-do a new one, was told will take 3-10 business days to refund the money for the 1 letter missing, went back did it with Western Union, both location & Western Union were helpful, I say use Western Union you are better off. read more

I would not recommend this location. I have been here a few times to cash money grams and the last time couple times sealed the deal that I will not be returning. On one visit I was told i could not collect my funds because my middle name was not included in the money being sent to me. I expressed to the clerk that this had never been and issue but was told i could not collect. When a supervisor approached the clerk he told him it was not a problem and I was issued my funds. On the next visit I was helped by the same clerk who this time told me if I was doing business through money gram I was not going to be able to collect funds anymore. Furthermore this is the only location that asks for my social security number upon collection and makes me feel like a criminal for picking up funds. Lastly, each of the last two visits, they had people calling previous clients to see if they needed a loan, personally If I had taken a loan from anybody I sure wouldn't want them cold calling me back in the future. read more
