I used to love tinkering on cars. Nothing would give me more pleasure than tuning up my first clunker, a 1970 Austin America Mini possessing an engine compartment with room to work and easily accessible hoses and belts. Of course, true to its British heritage the electrical system would only function on warm, summer days so it was off to the crusher for my first ride. Which brings me to Advance Auto Parts. Gone are the days when working on your car was a worthwhile hobby. Engines now possess more computing power than the Space Shuttle and basic components are less accessible than the wreckage of the Titanic. So, I'm left to replace my air and cabin filter and the occasional battery while leaving more intricate repairs to my personal extortionist named Horst. Advance is a breath of fresh air versus the recently shuttered Pep Boys near my home. Most importantly, things are in stock and advice is friendly and forthcoming. What more do I need. This Is Not my first Umazing experience at this particular Advanced Auto Parts store. Every time i come here i learn something new. The fist thing was when i was replacing a friends brakes and it was a Ford. It required a special key to push the caliper piston back in so i came to the store and inquired about the tool rental, YES, they rent tools for working in your vehicle. Here's the kicker, IT's FREE. Just bring it back in the same condition, no charge. My latest experience was with an employee named Will. He is one of the nicest employees every. Knowledgable, friendly, kind and overall you can just tell he's a good person. I needed new windshield wipers, so i asked him and we got the parts i needed, then he installed them for FREE! Finally i needed a new battery for my lawn mower, but the battery was 2 years old, which isn't that old for a battery. I asked if they could check the battery for me and even charge it if was still ok. Returning to the store with my old battery, he connected it to a volt meter and it was still alive but barely hanging in there. I asked if they could charge it for me because i think it may be just dead from sitting outside over the winter. I asked how much it was to charge the battery???? FREE. This place just amazes me each time i come here and because of this kindness, i will be returning to get all my parts here. read more

Very anointed, I stop buy a low beam replacement and I did not care the package was a bit open. BECAUSE I need to open it to install it. There is not other way right? The model recommended on there computer was the same number. Took me 1 minute to undo my truck low beam try to install the new, the mean manager blame for open the pack!!!! , then denied to exchange it. I literally wrote a good review for this place yesterday, but after receiving my first store rewards this morning, I'm a little pissed off. So here's the deal, as I mentioned in my previous review, they no longer accept their key chain rewards card. So now, if you give them your email address, they tell you that you get $5 back for every $30 that you spend. However, what they don't tell you is that you have to spend even more money in order to use those rewards... For example, if you get a $20 reward credit, the email will say "Get $20 off for every $40 that you spend" or if you get a $5 reward credit, the email will say "Get $5 off for every $10 that you spend", etc. You get the picture... So that's a total scheme and in my book, they lose major points. Most other places will give you cash back store credit, monthly or quarterly without having to spend any money in order to use it. read more

I needed a new bulb for one of my headlights and I called in advance to make sure they had one for my car. They did, so later on I stopped in to purchase it. I asked the guy behind the counter if they offer a service to replace bulbs, which they don't, but he offered to teach me how to do it on my own. I'm terrible with cars and lack a lot of basic knowledge about them, but Will taught me how to switch bulbs with patience which was so kind since it's not even a service they offer here. I'm so thankful for his help; he saved me time and money from going to a mechanic and getting it fixed! And I gained a new skill! read more

I don't go into advance often bc those days are over but I usually can find what I need at other stores cheaper. I walked in and knew I needed assistance. It was really nice to see a woman behind the counter. That alone made my day and she looked happy to be there. Unlike some locations..anyway. my car was too new for them to have what I needed..sigh..was hoping it would be that easy but NOPE. So now have to go online. Nice and clean store even tho a little confusing on where stuff is, they have changed it through the years and smaller stores have different set ups but all in all great experience. read more

He basically tried saying there is no way to get my $200 core charge back without the box and it took a call to customer service to force him to do it. Stopped in to Jackson store for blinker bulbs. 2 pack bulbs were 9.99. Thought that was expensive and went on Amazon. Same exact bulbs could have been delivered to me 1-2 day for $5.50. Shame on you advance. No repeat customer here unless in emergency situation. read more

Do not go to this store and if you encounter Bob from this store stay away from him or try to avoid him. He is the oldest guy in the store. This store has a great crew, but Bob is a disgrace to his fellow crew member. He recommends a replacement light blub and I told him that blub does not work. He said I should believe him because he's been doing same work for 40 years and he does not make mistake. Guess what Bob, you are wrong and the blub I used and said was perfectly fine and it works. I have a good judgement. You should vent down to your customer and besides we are bringing revenue to your store. You are just an expense in the store. read more

I came in to the store thinking my whole car battery needed to be changed but the good people there checked my battery for free and confirmed that it just needed to be charged. They also cleaned my terminals for free. The people there were very friendly and professional and made me feel like a valued customer. Jessie in particular was extremely helpful and nice.
