The owner Tony is the most honest shop owner I have ever done business with. I have been bringing my car to him for years. He never tries to oversell you on an repair. He charges a fair price and is always honest with you. He won't tell you to fix anything that doesn't need to be reapaired and will tell you when something can wait. I recently had some emission problems and had to bring it to him a few times. He was trying to save me money by only fixing what he though was needed to pass emissions. Long story short, I had to bring it back it in a couple of times but he was trying to save me some money and in the end he still did save me a few hundred dollars. My car passed emissions and is running very well. The location may not be the best, but the honest fair service I received at Advance Automotive more then makes up for it. I doubt I'll ever find a more honest, fair shop that does good work. read more

I feel like I have had my fair share of automotive woes of late. I had an exhaust problem in July for my 12 year old Saturn, and then more recently the gearbox broke. Of course, these mechanical problems couldn't have come at a worse time, since I am a guy that's on a limited budget. A friend recommended me to Advanced Automotive after hearing my tales of repair woes. I want to first mention what I found at other shops before I address why I like Advanced Automotive so much. When I had my first automotive crisis, I shopped around for a good mechanic--it wasn't an easy process. Most of the shops I found were, for a lack of a better term "salesy." They were much more focused on selling me as much car repair as I could afford--I am definitely looking in your direction Midas. In stark contrast to the "salesy" shops I dealt with, was Advanced Automotive. It's a medium sized shop in an older building. The shop lacks a large waiting room or amenities like free coffee (but do you really want a coffee from your mechanic?). Whatever Advanced Automotive lacks in aesthetics or amenities, it makes up for in quality work and customer satisfaction. Heres something you don't hear much in a repair shop: a suggestion that a repair is not critical and can be postponed without worry. This advice is exactly what I have overheard more than a few times at Advanced Automotive. Today, when I was in the shop, Tony, told a customer that the repair he enquired about wasn't necessary and that he could postpone the repair for a few hundred more miles if he wanted to save money. Not only did Tony level with the customer about the repair, but when the customer asked about a car that was for sale on the lot, Tony told him his broken car was a better value than the one for sale. That's right, there were two opportunities to upsell the same guy and in both instances Tony leveled with him. That's the kind of treatment I want from my mechanic. A few things to note about Advanced Automotive. First, there aren't appointments at Advanced Automotive, you can call to see if they are full for the day, but you have to leave your car there for the most part. Second, things are busy at Advanced Automotive, so if you call on the phone and the guy on the other end seems busy, distracted, or terse, its because Advanced Automotive is very busy. I recently had this location added a fleet vendor for where I work.They have very fair prices and work with you. Fix only what needs to be repaired.They tell you if they find something that needs to be addressed before doing the work and will let you know if you can safely operate the vehicle until you make the decision to do the repairs. Very reliable service I have not had to return a vehicle for any repair since I started using them. Tony still knows what customers mean to his business. read more

The surrounding location isn't the nicest, but the service and price are well worth it. The owner is trustworthy and friendly as well. If you need any car maintenance, and don't already have a "guy" that you go to, take your vehicle here. Heck, even if you do have somebody you already go to, let these guys take a look at your car. I've had three of my cars repaired here so far. The most serious was a head gasket replacement on an 02 subaru. Their work is excellent. Their prices are very reasonable. The only problem is that you can't wait for the work to be completed. You have to drop off your car and pick it up before 5:00 PM. read more

Nothing but good work from Advanced Automotive. And they are looking to get you on the road as reasonably as possible. 2 years ago I went in with my CV Boots needing replacement. Instead of installing the $100 boots, Tony recommended I just drive the car until the CV joints actually start making noise, and then replace the joints. The labor is the same, the joints (with boots) are $150 each, but because my boots were torn, the damage was already done, and the joints were gonna go anyways. At another shop I would have gotten the new boots, and 2 years later, new joints! Nothing but good to say about Tony and Advanced Automotive! read more

I've contacted him even when I was out of state traveling with automotive questions when purchasing vehicles, or when I had mechanical problems he was willing to listen to my problems and offer suggestions. Prices are always fair, and he goes over everything on the bill line by line. I've never been pressured to have more work done than needed, or make any additional purchases--Tony is all about getting what needs to be fixed done, at the lowest price (especially when compared to other private mechanics I've gone to). They are the epitome of understatement - they don't look like much on the outside, but they are the real deal. Through the years most of our cars have been Fords of one sort or another, though now we also have a Smart Car, and my son drives a Dodge. They have earned my absolute trust, frequently saving me money by fixing something that I thought needed to be replaced.
