This is just my opinion based on my experience. I suggest staying away from this dental practice. I came for cleaning and had absolutely no pain. They strongly recommend fillings and crown. I specifically asked for written out of pocket expense information based on official predetermining from my insurance company. After procedure was done, I was in severe pain and complained many times as I was totally fine before this intervention. They said bite adjustment is needed but it did not help at all. Also, while in dental chair I was left alone for 40 min while doctor was treating other patients. They always overbooked... So, I went to alternative dentist and was told that according to X-rays taken before crown installation I did not need crown at all. Additionally, this office demanded around $200 extra than was agreed in writing. They told me to go to my insurance company if I want to dispute. But I told them that my insurance company met its obligation and paid them exact amount as was predetermined. Regardless, they keep asking for money and don't care that they agreed in writing. They charged my credit card on file while I specifically agreed with them to discuss any Billings prior charging my card. I was asking for revering transaction and they finally did but it took many attempts. So now I am in pain and insurance will not cover another crown for 5 years. My crown must be removed now. So I'm facing $2000+ Expenses, wasting time and being in pain. So I suggest to find dental care elsewhere. The only positive is that Dental tech is very nice guy. read more

He works diligently and tries to cause you the least amount of pain possible and is very mindful when you are in pain. He tries to make your experience as pleasant as possible for you. Dr. Maz is a con artist and runs the office like a chicken with no head on. There is always chaos when she is around. I had to pay out of my pocket 450.00 for each filling as I didn't have extra insurance in 2021. I was able to get 2 cleanings and 2 periodontal treatments covered by the insurance company. Dr. Maz continues to believe she gave me these treatments for free, when in fact she billed my insurance company. I currently have Medicare and when the beginning of the year came she knew I would have 1000.00 towards dental care. She then billed the insurance company 500.00 for each filling. They paid out 225.00 for each filling. After calling around to many dental offices they all told me the normal out of pocket expense for a filling was 250.00. I have Medicare so 450.00 out of my pocket seems a bit steep and beyond ridiculous. Because of a review I posted on Google my appointments were ironically cancelled. I was told that they did not have a pre authorization for today by the office manager Jason and that he had put it through on Feb 8th. After calling the insurance company, I was informed they did not do pre authorization until Feb 22 and they called them today with a reference number. I was covered 100 percent. Dr. Maz got involved after her office manager continued to lie to me. Dr. Maz states that I am trying to get money back from her which is so far from the truth! I simply wanted to know why she was all over the place with pricing and why she had her manager lying to me. She purposely cancelled on me 2 weeks in a row because she didn't like a review I posted on Google. Read all the negative ones as they are all true. They text now so I am fortunate that I have the proof via text. As for the name this was written on, that is the only part that is true. I'm not sure why it came up that way but my name if Allison. Beware of this scam artist that spins the stories. You'll notice that all her responses on Google to negative reviews state " we have not record of you being a patient". This doctor claim to be the office manager when in fact she owns the place. Why she is bringing up drugs? She does everything in her power to make up lies. I recently asked for recommendations on the local page of Facebook in Mahwah, and so many others could not agree with me more and stated the same reasons they would not go back to this place. Even to the point where they saw her out on night at a restaurant, and she was extremely rude to the staff. I am officially done with this lunatic and will not write anymore. Use your own discretion and good luck. Please do your homework and look at all the other reviews that pretty much state the same information. As for bullying, you should see the 50 texts she sent me with her doing all the bullying. I was told that she was going to actually charge my credit card for an amount I don't owe. Dr Maz is Incredible! I have never had any medical professional give me the amount of time that she does. She treated me like I was family. I went to Dr. Maz to get a second opinion regarding my TMJ. Rather than elect for surgery like the first doctor I went to, Dr. Maz suggested a less invasive approach using a night guard. The process she does for making my nightguard was methodical and custom to my every ridge, bump and crevasse in my mouth. An awesome little dental office I came across in my area, as per a recommendation from a close friend I decided to schedule an exam with them. I ended up having to cancel my appointment twice (sorry!) But finally was able to make it in last week. They were very good about giving reminder calls and rescheduling my appointment which not all offices are happy to do. Upon my arrival, Heather took my info and had me wait only a few minutes before Dr. Yaz brought me in. Heather was very thorough with explaining certain treatments and various plans with me. Dr. Yaz was very nice and professional and explained how their whitening strips worked to me and visually showed me with a model what my teeth color should look after using their strips. My first experience at Advanced Dental Care was quite good. The office was clean, the staff was friendly and they had Saturday hours. I like to think that I take good care of my teeth and most dentists I've been to agree. While I never felt that they had played games with my insurance, about 6 months ago I had a filling performed. After the filling was done I noticed that the tooth seemed weak and it hurt to bite down on hard items like nuts. I figured it just might be tender because I just had the filling done. My wife, who is also a patient there had been complaining to me about the same pain and sensitivity she was having on a filling performed by them about a month prior. She was thinking however that she might need a root canal. Fast forward 6 months. I still have discomfort and sensitivity with the same tooth. That was the last straw for me so I switched dentists. On the day of my new new Dentist appointment, my new Dentist had to perform new ex-ray images of my teeth simply because Advanced Dental care ignored my request to release my info and later claimed not to have received it. This morning I get an email from Advanced Dental Care with my ex-ray. Too late Advanced Dental care. BTW... It seems that the tooth advanced dental care filled for me is cracked. The aspects that really drew me in here, was the fact that this office is clean, modern, and very knowledgeable. another aspect that i really liked, was the fact the type of xray machines that dr maz uses here are 80 to 90% less radiation that your normal xray machine. this was very intriging and i liked that. the exam was quick, but informative. she pointed out some new ways to deal with my sensitivity and was helpful with how and what i should be using for my teeth. heather, one of her staff members, did a great job at telling me how to use the whitening strips i decided to go with and really what type of toothpaste i should and should not be using. I had an awful tooth pain one day and knew I had to get the tooth removed, I called advance dental care and they took me in on an emergency basis that same day. When I walked in I was taken as soon as I finished filling out the paperwork. I interviewed here and it was one of the most welcoming places I've gone to. Plus it's right next to rt17. I love the fact that it's in a mall complex so you can grab something to eat to. The staff was really nice and efficient. Dr. Maz gave me a tour and I can tell they keep it extra clean. The rooms are great sizes not small where you feel like your closed in. Everybody said hi to me and smiles where exchanged. It was an A+ for me. They have very rare hrs so it very convenient for this who work and can't get to the dentist. The office is beautiful and clean and the hygienist I had was very, very sweet, but Dr. Maz is overly pushy with her treatment plans. I had a full cleaning and was told that I should come back for one in two weeks and then a check up in six weeks, then another cleaning six months later. There is absolutely no need to come in for a cleaning two weeks later if they did a good job the first time around! The most disturbing part is that they also told me I had advanced gum disease and was facing bone loss and could lose teeth and needed to do a bunch of procedures and things to save it immediately. I got a second opinion and the dentists was appalled that they told me this and that I have no evidence of gum disease at all (just minor inflammation) and there is no immediate concern whatsoever. Seems I am not the only one, don't forget to read the filtered reviews as well. Beware of the appointment cancellations as well- They can call you the day before an appointment to tell you the costs insurance will cover and what you'll have to pay for a procedure, which is nice, except if you want to cancel you would've had to do it the day before (48 hour notice) without some steep fees. read more

I had a wonderful experience today at Advance Dental Care. Everyone from the front desk who got me in right away for an emergency procedure to the dental assistant who made me feel calm. They explained the procedure and the cost which was very reasonable. They work with you if you don't have dental insurance. The dentist was absolutely amazing. So gentle! I didn't have any pain at all with my extraction. I was assured it wouldn't take long and they were right. They explained everything they were doing during the extraction, it was really great to know what was going on and not be scared. Afterwards they went over what to do and even gave me an ice pack to use at home. I highly recommend Advance Dental Care of Mahwah. Dr. Maz and her staff are excellent!
