It doesn't offer a big waiting room with nice amenities or free coffee. It isn't fancy or impressive to look at but it is owned by a guy who is an old school grease monkey who loves cars, trucks and tools. Kevin clearly loves what he does and takes pride in it. He has become a family friend and he has a loyal local following because he is the real deal. He knows his stuff and will happily answer your questions. If he doesn't handle what you need done he knows just who you need to see. A referral from Kevin to another business is solid. He has never steered us wrong. Mechanics are like a lottery, you pays your money and you takes your chances! Well, Advanced Auto is a safe bet. Kevin is a guy who makes his living fixing cars. No gas, no bodega, just a mechanic. He'll fix what's wrong and stand behind his work without nickle and diming you to death. On a number of occasions I've brought one of my cars in thinking it was something major only to have it be something minor, easily fixed and costing $10 or sometimes nothing at all. Tried them out after reading the stellar reviews, and though no work has been performed on my car yet, I have to agree with the general consensus. A nice place to get your car fixed. The mechanic hooked up the computer to the car for a check engine light, diagnosed that problem as something to watch, diagnosed another problem, and sold me a bottle of fuel system cleaner. All he charged me was the $18 for the fuel system cleaner. I plan to return the next time an issue arises. UPDATE: I've taken my car to Kevin several times and have had uniformly good experiences. My first impression of an honest and knowledgeable mechanic has been proven and reproven. Highly recommended. read more

Kevin is the best and the most honest mechanic out there. I just wish I knew him earlier. He took in my vehicle to test drive and see what was causing the weird noise under my Tahoe without charging me a fee that a dealer would normally charge $185. Convenient location for me and his incredibly strong ratings say a lot. Anyway, it's 10 PM on a Monday and I gave him a call to put in a voicemail request for estimate for a window repair. Not only did he pick up ("I don't have a voicemail cause I want to make sure I talk to you the first time") he was pleasant, friendly, and quoted me less than 1/2 the price I received elsewhere. Let me say that again... less than 1/2 the price. He also gave me 3 different ways to find the info I need to make our upcoming appointment easier + quicker ("If you want to save time, you could do A and B and C beforehand, but if not, no worries and we'll take care of you."). There is literally no better mechanic I've ever dealt with than Kevin. Let me provide some background to the situation to show what a great help Kevin has been. My truck started sputter around 50mph 2 years ago. I took it to 3 different repair shops who all told me I needed to get a single spark plug replaced. After supposedly having the spark plug changed the problem didn't go away. I just assumed it would be something I had to live with. Seeing it was time to get the rest of my plugs changed I came across advanced automotive and brought my car into Kevin. Low and behold Kevin calls me into the shop and gets out his bore scope. I've never had a mechanic actually show me a problem and walk through exactly what was wrong. Turns out the last mechanic had not only not changed the plug but he had broken it. Kevin explained he could try to get it out but if the plug broke I was looking at a head replacement ($4000-$5000). Seeing no other option I sat and waited as Kevin worked on my car for 6 hours. Having no luck Kevin not only offered to send me to a ford dealership that could help with a head replacement HE DIDNT EVEN CHARGE ME FOR THE HOURS OF WORK HE HAD ALREADY SPENT ON MY CAR. Talk about an honest trustworthy person. Unfortunately due to being scammed by the first repair shop I had to get rid of the car. But I will say this after my experience with Kevin I will never go to another mechanic again. read more

Kevin is awesome! He went out of his way to fit us in on a busy Wednesday to do a pre-purchase inspection on a car from a nearby used dealership. He was super honest, straight-forward and tried his hardest to refuse to take our money when we tried to pay him for the trouble. I was looking for a local auto shop because I didn't want to spend an unnecessary amount of money on a quick fix. My engine splash shield had come loose (again) and was being held up with zip ties. I had called the shop a day before to ask about it and I believe I spoke with the owner, Kevin. He was honest with me and told me that I didn't really need it. He could have told me otherwise and given me an estimate. I appreciated his honesty so much, especially for an auto shop. I needed to go in anyway because I didn't want the shield to come loose while driving. I didn't have to wait at all. Kevin got down on the floor and fixed it for me in 10 min and didn't charge me! As for mechanics Kevin is the best, you can tell by the good reputation he has online that youre going to have a smooth experience. Before my truck was about to be inoperable due to a bad ignition coil I brought it to him while I was close to his shop. Despite not having much room he let me leave it there anyway. Which was great for me because I live maybe 25minutes away. He has fast, easy, honest and didn't over charge me. Kevin really knows his stuff when it comes to cars! He was very honest and knowledgeable over the phone and in person as well. After he fixed my car he took the time out to explain what the exact issue was and that really meant a lot to me. To me that showed he takes pride in his work and really cares about his customers. The dealership was supposed to have fixed this very issue and told me it only needed a tune up. But $500 later the same issue again, which is when I didn't trust taking it back to the dealership so I started doing my research and based off the reviews I had read, I decided to go with this Advanced Automotive. Kevin was able to immediately point out the problem , fixed it and now i feel like I'm driving a brand new truck! When i was younger i had my share of clunkers. Two things were required, AAA and a good mechanic. Triple A is a known quantity. A mechanic is pot luck. Fortunately i know Kevin. He is a true mechanic. He kept those clunkers running and was more than fair with pricing. He is as good a person as he is a mechanic (don't underestimate either). Brought my vehicle in for service and he walked me through tool by tool the procedure and the pros and cons of the repair. Honesty, integrity, pride in providing good service are the best way to describe him so don't let the small and unassuming exterior mislead you and most definitely give Kevin a chance to service your car. You will get the fairest possible treatment , of that I am absolutely certain, and you won't find another mechanic like Kevin. My girlfriend and I were buying a used car in the area and needed a last minute inspection by a mechanic so we called up Kevin who was very accommodating and told us to just bring it by when we were able as we didn't know the exact time. When we showed he dropped everything, did a careful examination of the car and then WOULDN'T ACCEPT A DIME!!! Who does that? I'm sure his time is valuable as he doesn't seem to have a lot of employees but he never rushed us or the inspection and despite my repeated attempts wouldn't accept any payment saying he just decided 30 years ago that he wouldn't for pre-purchase inspections.
