Both the left field and home plate gates were wide open without a person in sight. We paid for tickets. The field itself sits in a neighborhood. Kinda cool, kinda odd too. I felt like I was at a glorified high school game. The park itself has some construction going on in back of the left field seats. I'm guessing that might house player functions, like the home team hitting cage, which is currently held in a netted enclosure under left field (high school style). The small players clubhouse sits on the fan concourse so players and coaching staff alike walk through the concourse to get to the dugout & field. Another unusual site. The field here seems huge but that might be due to the small size of the seating area. They offer three different seating options..two of which have you parked on a bleacher seat (one with back rest, one without). The high rollers pay to sit in a half plastic seat that's screwed to the bleacher seat. Pretty odd..you have to see it for yourself. We ate prior to the game so we only noshed on a pretzel once we arrived. The food options seemed limited. On field amenities are vintage 1955. No big screen, no video whatsoever. Just one, small center field score board. The outfield walls are littered with advertisements. I'm surprised they have lights. Aside from watching baseball, which is exactly why we came here, there isn't one redeeming feature inside or outside this park. We enjoyed the baseball but the park is devoid of culture and modernization.

Our experience at the Beloit Snappers game featured all of the things that make minor-league…read morebaseball great. We were close to the action (second row!), surrounded by families, old people and amiably rivalrous partisans of both teams. There were contests, catcalls. This is baseball the way it should be (except that the players should be payed MORE). The quality of play (the Snappers are the A ball affiliate of the Oakland A's major league club) was good. Concessions were OK (pizza, hot dogs, popcorn, peanuts, LOTS of beers). There is a ramp for people who need it. There are three kinds of seats: bleachers, amply-wide seats behind home and halfway up the first and third base lines (screened and protected from foul balls) and field-level seats for those who wants to get as close to the game as possible). If you are a fan of the minor-league game and in the area, you owe yourself a trip to this park springing out of an otherwise ordinary residential neighborhood.

The price of tickets and the ease of parking and leaving games make it a great value. The price of concessions is slightly better than other venues. The facilities are nothing special. For some reason, every time I catch a game, I get stuck next to the most annoying people in the whole section, but that's hard to control. Overall, it really is a worthwhile experience, and the baseball is competitive. If you enjoy baseball--and aren't there just to take selfies--I would highly recommend catching a game. I love it!

There was a little rain but that didn't stop us from having fun at the Quack of a Bat! A Mallards game is must-do summer activity especially for anyone exploring Madison. Not only is it great for community spirit it's also great entertainment. The quack is back with summer fun for the whole family. Some of the Highlights of the night: Star Wars characters you find roaming around the park. Delicious ballpark food and locally brewed beers. The mallards taking home the win. My personal favorite Maverick, the Madison Mallards' superstar bat dog.

After getting our wristbands, we weren't given any directions on where to get food and drinka. The food selection was very limited: just hot dogs, brats, burgers, chip, and drinks. The players are college athletes, so it's definitely a different vibe than Major League games, but it was still fun to watch the Mallards against the Wausau Woodchunk. There were a few activities for kids, and overall it made for a nice couple of hours. One tip: the seating is extremely uncomfortable. I wish I'd known to bring a seat cushion or foam pad.

The parking lot was quite full due to a big event in the exhibition hall but at least there was no charge for parking. After finally figuring out where this event was being held we made our way into the bleachers (I know why people brought their own chairs). Not being fans it took us awhile to figure out the flow of the match and some of the rules (thanks to nearby fans who filled in the blanks). Unfortunately the PA system was so poor it was almost impossible to follow any helpful information they might have been announcing. The match last almost two hours which was pretty long and a bit repetitive- one half would have been enough. Some good action at times but a bit slow. Interesting enough to go once but I won't be rushing back.
