Just purchased a new Bennington Pontoon from Quam's Motorsports in Stoughton, Wisconsin. This is a…read morefamily owned dealership that delivered an awesome purchase experience. We're new to boating and they made it as smooth as could be. John Quam was there from the beginning and has been there even after the purchase. He personally delivered our boat to Lake Waubesa on his own truck, spent an hour on the lake, showing us all the ins and outs of our new boat. Even though we had ordered our new boat at the busiest possible time, John went out of his way to get us our boat ready for the big Memorial Day weekend. He kept me in the loop, even sending me an email (3.5 hours after they closed) to let me know that they had just completed getting the boat prep'd and it would be ready for delivery the following day! We were thrilled to be able to enjoy our boat for the weekend. After driving our boat, we started getting a warning alarm on our motor. John sent one of his techs right to our dock to diagnose the problem. With no luck, John personally came and picked up our boat and took it to the shop. Turned out to just be weeds in the water intake. After fixing it and a few other minor issues, he personally delivered the boat after they closed. Now that's service! I can't provide a more positive recommendation for anyone looking to buy a new or new to them boat. You just don't find this kind of service these days and when you do, you want to tell people!

I don't normally write a review on businesses but this time it really is ridiculous not to!…read more We bought a used boat at Quam's mid August. The staff made arrangements to meet us before normal hours on a Saturday in order to get us out on the water in the boat before signing papers. However, there was a hiccup with the battery on that morning. The guys put in a new battery that morning and it started right up. To make a long story short, switching the battery was not the solution. We stalled on the water twice after putting the boat on the water at home. However, after contacting Roy Quam the first time, we took the boat back and work was done on the issue. Next week, we got the boat back, and, on the lake the next day, motor stalled again. I was really upset with the boat to say the least! I said I wanted a different boat and Roy understood completely. If we wanted another boat, they were willing to credit us the full purchase price towards another boat. However Roy stated that he was confident that they could fix whatever the wiring issue was happening on the Ranger. We agreed to try to have the issue fixed. Roy made arrangements to come pick up the boat this time so they could get working on the problem right away and we could get the boat back sooner, ( We live an hour and fifteen minutes away from Quam's.) I appreciated that and was really surprised that he did this. After working on the boat for two weeks, we think the issue is fixed but have only had the boat out once since getting it back. I am happy to say that the motor never stalled on this outing. We did have one minor glitch but Roy said to keep him posted on the issue in case it happens again. I haven't experienced customer service like this in a very long time! On a purchase like this, your heart sinks when you have problems immediately. My husband and I have been pleasantly surprised by the loyalty to their customers and their products that Quam's has shown us repeatedly. We are very glad we bought our boat at this dealership and would/will buy there again without hesitation!

I was looking to get the impeller replaced joe noticed the fuel filter needed replacing with fuel pump quick upcharge fine needs it get er done as they say. sent me vid of it running great, also mentioned trailer bearings need replacing. fine do that while it's there i like to support local business whenever possible Impeller was 8 yrs old other parts were original equipment super reliable motor. Everything fine till pickup paid over 1000 for probably 600 worth of work, but hey ya gotta pay to play. joe mentioned the tarp on the boat was blowing around. when i looked it was because they were too lazy to put the Bunge cords on to hold the tarp they were laying on the ground with the tarp stuffed in the boat. so i started putting the tarp on myself and had a cardiac event setting off my defibrillator 1st time in 2 yrs 4th since 2017 .should have gone and asked for help but was too stubborn. so i took several breaks and struggled on. Small things like putting the customers tarp back on matters. It shows as a business owner you care. myself being a business owner. would be like remodeling a kitchen and then taking the boxes from the cabinets and leaving them on the kitchen floor. if the amount of care taken with the tarp is any indication of the quality of the work done on my motor which is usually a pretty good indicator I'm in trouble.

Eldie owns the shop and his son Justin and daughter Kirsten work at the business which makes them a great team because they are a very close family. When I am in Galena I love to go fishing so my boat is very important to me. The one thing I greatly admire about Eldies is they do excellent work and I know I can absolutely 100% trust them. Eldie recently helped me get a new trolling motor as mine was outdated and not functional. Eldie had a boat owner looking to sell his trolling motor which was almost brand new and truly state of the art. Eldie was able to get me a great deal on the trolling motor so I bought it and Eldies son Justin and staff member Mason rewired the boat and did an excellent job of installing the motor which is so simple to operate. If you need work on your boat in the Galena or Dubuque area, Eldies should be your first stop. They do outstanding, reliable work and I know they are going to tell me the truth and give me options to resolve the problem. This is a long time, family run business that does outstanding work and they can always be trusted to do the right thing for their customers.

Then come on down to Munson Ski and Marine, where you too, can make the worse purchase of your life! I run a boat rental business in California, and we were recently looking to expand our business and purchase another boat. We finally found what looked like the perfect boat on Boat Trader from Munson Ski & Marine. We talked to Marc Biasco, one of the sales associate, over the phone and everything seemed to be perfect about the boat. So I told him I'll drive out to Illinois  over the next couple days, check out the boat, and if it looks good I'll buy it and drive it back. He then proceeds into talking me out of coming to see the boat (since it's so far away) and starts telling me about the "old lady" who's interested in buying the boat. I tell him that's fine, and to sell to the "old lady," even though I had my doubts the "old lady" existed. A couple days later I get a text message from Marc saying the "old lady" didn't end up buying the boat (surprise surprise) and they are willing to take some money off the price. At this point, I have already found another boat in Arizona, which is new and a little more expensive but is way closer to us. I tell Mark this and then he starts sending me long paragraph text messages about how I shouldn't buy the new boat, the brand is low quality, their boat is turnkey ready to go, and a high quality brand. I tell him no, I'm going with the new boat but thanks anyways. I then find out the new boat won't available for three more weeks, which is a problem for our company since the boating season here is so short and we would lose out on 3 weeks of rentals. I call Marc back and inquire if this boat is still available. He tells me it is, but now there's a "fireman" that's there right now and wants to buy the boat. Same selling tactic? Really? Long story short we negotiate the price down a little, arrange for expedited shipping at a premium cost through Uship and buy the boat. Three days later:  The boat arrives. The first thing that the guy who transported the boat says to me is that he had to tell Munson Ski and Marine to take some mussels off from the back of the boat so he could pass state inspection stations on the cross-country drive. BIG RED FLAG. I take the boat to our local inspection station, as required by law, and turns out there are Zebra mussels EVERYWHERE. These mussels are illegal in the whole state of California, dead or alive, and shouldn't even be crossing state lines. The boat gets immediately quarantined for a month and I have to start talking to our local game warden and other local agents about what I need to do to get the boat up to our state's standard. It turns out we will need to cut off the chimes on the side of the pontoons, clean them, unmount the motor, clean that whole mounting area, and the inside of the motor. I get quotes from local shops and they tell me it's going to be $10-20k to get all this done and even after all this, they aren't sure if it will be clean enough to launch in our lake. We reach out to Marc to ask him about last time the boat was in the water and what lake it came from, he says it hasn't been in the water since last fall and it was last in Lake Genova (a lake known for Zebra mussels). He says he reaching out to his boss, Matt Munson, and he should be in contact with me shortly. We get the phone call from Matt Munson, and told him what we learned about the boat he sold us.  Because the shipping company told the dealership about the mussels, Matt Munson was clearly aware of the condition of the boat and that this would be a problem for us in California. We told him that because he was negligent in advising us of a contamination, we wanted our money back. My business partner was kind enough to say we will eat the cost of shipping to California, Munson would just have to ship the boat back to Illinois and give us back our money, no hard feelings. Matt says he has to talk to his Dad about this and he will get back to us shortly. We don't hear anything else from him. I call multiple times over the next couple days and he doesn't reply. Eventually he writes me an email saying he checked with his lawyers and they did nothing wrong. They went to a lawyer first rather than working with us. In reaching out to our own legal counsel, we discovered that we did not have a solid enough case to pursue. That being said, this is morally reprehensible and this business should be held accountable for their shady dealings. We will be contacting the BBB and strongly recommend that other people go somewhere else for their boat purchases.
