    Angler's Edge Fishing & Marine

I am disappointed with my experience with Angler's Edge Fish 'N Play. I purchased my boat from them…read morein 2021 and have used them for all service and maintenance since. While the first year of ownership was positive, communication and customer service steadily declined over time as it became increasingly difficult to get responses from anyone other than the person answering the phone, who would simply take a message. Emails, calls, and texts often went unanswered for days or weeks, and sometimes not at all. In May of 2025, I noticed excessive rust on my trailer and contacted EJ on May 2. He responded the next day, stating he would contact the manufacturer and act as my advocate. After hearing nothing further, I followed up on May 15 and received no response. On May 27, I contacted the manufacturer directly. The following day, I received an email from EJ stating that repair parts and coating materials were being sent to Angler's Edge. Over the next two months, I repeatedly sought updates regarding the parts and repair. Multiple emails went unanswered, and on July 11 I had to contact the manufacturer directly again to determine the status of the items. I reached out to Angler's that day as well and finally received a reply from EJ on July 24 confirming that the parts had been received. We agreed the trailer repair would be completed when I brought the boat in for winterization later that year. In early November 2025, I also experienced an engine issue where my outboard bogged down during acceleration and would not get the boat on plane. I emailed both EJ and AJ explaining the problem and advising that I would be bringing the boat in for winterization and diagnosis. I delivered the boat on November 15, 2025, for winterization, trailer repairs, and inspection of the engine issue. On February 25, Angler's Edge reported finding contaminated fuel that was yellow and had a bad odor. They drained the fuel tank, replaced the spark plugs and fuel filter, and test-ran the engine with fresh fuel, stating it ran much smoother while revving in the water tank. They also replaced all trailer parts supplied by the manufacturer, and stated they cleaned and repainted visible rust spots using manufacturer-supplied armor coating, and noted on the invoice that they replaced the fuel filter, and that the engine oil and filter was in good condition and did not require changing. On March 21st I went to Angler's to pickup the boat. $692. I noticed right away in the parking lot that the trailer was actually in worse condition than when I took it there. The parts the manufacturer supplied were replaced, but the actual areas that need to be sanded and coated look to be done with minimal effort or concern. I took photos and video and sent them to the manufacturer. The manufacturer looked everything over and and asked if it would be possible for me to get it down to the factory in Arkansas so they could go over everything properly. After 40 hours of driving in two trips I finally picked the boat back up on May 29th and after getting it home put it on the water on June 1st only to go 150ft from the dock before the engine seized and stalled out. I took it to an authorized Mercury service center, and found that the fuel filter was not even connected, the oil was dirty and needed changing, the fuel filter that they said they changed was filthy, and my main oil filter had not been changed in two years. After an additional $985 to that repair center, the boat is finally running as it should. I supported Angler's Edge from the beginning, which makes this experience even more disappointing. I am deeply dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism, communication, and customer service I received from both management and staff. Based on my experience, I would encourage others to carefully consider their options when purchasing a boat or seeking service work. While Angler's Edge appears focused on making the sale, I found that their commitment to customer care and support after the sale fell well short of expectations.

Brian took very good care of us going way above normal customer service to fix our issue, provide us with the correct bulb and test the repair all while we waited. Eldie owns the shop and his son Justin and daughter Kirsten work at the business which makes them a great team because they are a very close family. When I am in Galena I love to go fishing so my boat is very important to me. The one thing I greatly admire about Eldies is they do excellent work and I know I can absolutely 100% trust them. Eldie recently helped me get a new trolling motor as mine was outdated and not functional. Eldie had a boat owner looking to sell his trolling motor which was almost brand new and truly state of the art. Eldie was able to get me a great deal on the trolling motor so I bought it and Eldies son Justin and staff member Mason rewired the boat and did an excellent job of installing the motor which is so simple to operate. If you need work on your boat in the Galena or Dubuque area, Eldies should be your first stop. They do outstanding, reliable work and I know they are going to tell me the truth and give me options to resolve the problem. This is a long time, family run business that does outstanding work and they can always be trusted to do the right thing for their customers.

I took a 1985 GL1200A Aspencade to ejr that had carburetor problems had to run it with 1/4 choke…read moreand it ran fine on 1/4 choke but you should not have to run ANY choke a minute or so after starting. I gave them air cut off valves and he said we'll see what it needs beyond that, problem was he let KIDS work on the bike all they did was clean the outside of the carburetors and put new fuel lines on and lost numerous screws ,left fasteners hanging loose called me and said it's done. I got there started it and it ran VERU rough Eric I think is his name said you just need to ride it and it will clear up and run fine I put a couple hundred miles on it and it still ran extremely poor. I took it back to him and he said I'll look at it and calls me saying it needs new carburetors and that he has another bike same year and model sold me the carburetors and intake system puts it on mine and it didn't fix ANYTHING in reality it got worse than before , so bad I couldn't ride it. It backfired sputtered popped. First time in that dump it cost $600.00 second time in the dump it cost another $400.00. In retrospect it was fine before letting EJR TECHNOLOGY'S screw it up. Fast foward a few years I ran across CLASSIC SUPER BIKES in Barrington illinois a young guy working from home found him on Facebook. He came out from Barrington and got the bike and looked it over determined it needed carburetors rebuilt got QUALITY rebuild kits took all 4 carburetors apart and said EJR did absolutely nothing except clean the exterior of the carburetors they didn't rebuild them and the air cut off value looked like it shattered it was so dried up Classic Super Bikes stayed in constant contact throughout the job updating me on everything This guy MARK knows what's going on and how to repair the issue. Classic Super Bikes called me and said it's done you didn't need new carburetors just a complete rebuild. I'm happy with the bike now. THIS THING SCREEMS NOW. High Scool kids should not work on anything as complicated as the GL1200A ASPENCADE. LESSON LEARNED AVOID EJR INCOMPETENCE.
