We cannot recommend ABC, and Nick specifically, highly enough. Nick reached out following an inquiry through Yelp to make some repairs to our detached garage, though we had several additional projects in mind. The house we had just bought previously belonged to a blacksmith, and he turned the backyard into a workshop, meaning there were steel beams reinforcing roofed structures and concrete everywhere. It basically looked like an industrial wasteland, and we dreamed of someday turning it into a yard that our kids could play in. We had corresponded with several other contractors before Nick, and we felt wary about someone taking advantage of us, so we planned to keep our cards close to our chest. The original thought was to see if the contractor who did our garage repairs would be a good fit for the rest of our work. During the consultation visit, Nick seemed knowledgeable about what would go into the garage repairs we were asking for. When we mentioned that we also wanted demolition and landscaping someday, Nick described the scope of work in a way that more closely aligned with our vision than other contractors' ideas. For example, we had several contractors tell us that we should demolish our garage and rebuild from scratch or move the structure to the other side of the yard; Nick respected our wish to build on the existing structure in order to respect our budget. He described demolition to the blacksmith workshop in a similar way, and we liked the proposal he sent to us, so we decided to move forward. What really has me writing this review and raving about this experience was the relationship we developed with Nick after work began. Nick told us in the beginning that he was going to treat us like his family, and he 100% honored that. We were still getting to know this new house we had just moved into, and as we noticed problems in the house that needed attention, Nick offered us options (with pricing) for how to proceed on fixes, if we wanted to fix at all. For example, our plumbing inspection report found that the main sewer line could maybe benefit from being reinforced. Nick had his plumbing guys take a more in-depth look at the pipe, gave us a price to possibly reinforce it, and gave his honest thoughts on the state of the pipe. He told us that if this were his house, given how the pipe currently looks, he probably wouldn't make that repair. There were several other instances over the course of the work in which Nick proved himself to be an honorable man. When everything was said and done, Nick and the ABC team repaired our garage, demolished the blacksmith workshop and replaced it with a travertine patio plus sod, installed irrigation for the landscaping, re-drilled for the pipes under our house to make our kitchen sink work better, fixed our existing side gate on one side of the house and installed a new side gate on the other, did a major repair to our gate at the back of the property, built a deck for the backyard, and did it all within our original budget. The icing on the cake was Nick buying diapers for us when my wife went into labor at the very end of our work together. We'll have Nick over to meet our babies, and we'll definitely go through him again if we want more work in the future. read more

Building your home today is not so easy. Especially when there are so many things to consider. How many bedrooms do I want how many bathrooms do I want do I want a flat roof or do I want a roof with the pitch. And then there's all the legality and the clearances that you have to deal with when it comes to the city of La. And you have to be patient to see what and where they will allow you to build on the property. When we originally spoke to Nick he told us to pick a good engineer and architect. He was so right because it made the biggest difference when we had the right team. After we got our plans approved Nick was our go to contractor to build the house. What can I say that hasn't already been said about Nick? He's everything that everyone has shared and more. We gutted our house and did a full renovation. We are first time home owners and home renovators, and Nick was our big brother guiding us through the renovation process and everything in between. It can be scary, right? We interviewed three general contractors total for our project and Nick came the most prepared and organized, which was a good sign he was going to be as organized and as thoughtful for our renovation. We are so glad we got recommended to them. We knew we wanted to build a new house or completely remodel our existing property, and add on a room addition in the back with a pool. There were some things he wouldn't know the answer to right away however he would tell me " let me research and find out what the best solution for you is and I will get back to you" And he did exactly that, without disappointment. We couldn't be happier with the experience that we received from this remodeling contractor. They handled everything for us from beginning to end. This was a massive undertaking for us since we were living in our house during the remodeling process. They helped us pick out all of our bathroom and kitchen products. You can't even compare our old kitchen to the new kitchen that these people designed for us it's like night and day. The whole team was fantastic to work with throughout the duration of our remodeling. They were consistently on time, and respected our families busy day to day busy schedule. What I liked about each of the contractors that came out was that we didn't need to hold their hand or explain what needed to be done. They pretty much understood the concept of what had to be done and kept quiet and did their work without interrupting us. Because we were living in our house and our family had nowhere to go we needed to save one of the bathrooms to be able to shower in until the two other bathrooms got finished. Most of the other contractors we meet with didn't want to have anything to do with this because I just kept pushing us to do all three bathrooms at the same time. We had some hiccups in the middle of the project because we didn't receive our toilets on time but that was our mistake not the contractors. Other than that it was pretty smooth sailing. Because our bathroom remodel was somewhat unusual and had to incorporate closing off an additional wall I like to thank them extra for that because they had to do the work, double so we could live in the house. We work in the real estate industry and definitely know a lot of great contractors in the area. But when we decided to do our own home we decided to use advanced builders. Even before starting our building plans we called them to get a jump start on how it would be best to approach our renovation. They were able to tell us who we should contact for an architect. With the help of the architect and our contractor we were able to minimize the corrections that we needed with the city. This sped up the process and minimize the corrections that we had to deal with the city. When our building plans were approved we already had met with everyone that would be working on our house. By the time we wanted to start demo we had already picked out almost all of our finishing touches. We knew that during the renovation would be very hard to reach so it was great that we were able to pick out all of our finishes ahead of time. Just made it easier for everyone. Because the project was in a historic district we had to deal with some setback and design issues. And again our contractor and architect made the process so easy for us. They would always come up with two or three different design solutions so that it would make it easier for us to pick one. The entire ABC team is top notch. Starting with the architect and engineer that they recommended all the way down to the finished carpentry contractors who did all our molding work. These guys definitely know what they're doing. From the very first time we met with our architect and engineer it almost felt like they already knew Nick and his company would do a great job for us. After me and my husband bought our first house we thought we could diy our way through all of the changes we wanted to make. Unfortunately it was something that turned into a never ending money pit that had our house looking like a wreck. Eventually we realized that we needed to have professional come in to get the job done. The search for a general contractor was really eye-opening. Almost every general contractor we spoke to had a different way of remodeling our house. Their general idea of remodeling the house was the same. But they all had their own way of remodeling. One of the general contractors we spoke to said that he would not work with us unless we hired his design company to do a full set of design plans for us. Another general contractor that we spoke to said that our project was too complicated and that we were not a big enough project for him. I don't know how that's possible because our house ended up being about 5,000 ft which encompassed five bedrooms and six bathrooms and everything needed remodeling. And I mean everything needed to be remodeled. Everything from the floors to the cabinets to the windows to the doors, front yard backyard doors patio cover everything. Another general contractor we spoke to who had great reviews, would only work with us if we gave him a $10,000 retainer and again we would have to use his architect and designer to do the plans for us. So it was very refreshing to find advanced brothers and contractors. Because Nick was very easy going and we were able to see eye to eye. His approach was comfortable and wasn't overwhelming. We were able to use our own architect and designer. In fact when we told our architect about Nick he already knew him and expressed to us that he would be a great fit for our home remodeling and addition. From very early on Nick was a great communicator. I remember the first time we got in touch with his company he called us back almost immediately. After working with ABC I felt it was definitely a good thing for us. All of the contractors that came from them were talented and gifted in their own way. They all had their specific projects to do. There were many different teams that came and went during our home remodeling project. One set of crew would come and do the foundation then another set came in did electrical then another set of contractors came and did framing. Then another set of contractors came and did our drywall. And so on and on it was really great to see the progress on our home remodeling project. It seems like every week there would be a new set of contractors who would start a new project on our home. In the end yes we had to endure some hardships and pain and living away from home for some period of time wasn't easy. But it was definitely worth it to come back to a brand new home. With updated electrical and plumbing and drywall that didn't have mold. And with bathrooms that you could actually use with showers that actually gave you good enough water pressure and with modern kitchen cabinets and countertops. one thing I can tell you about ABC is that they definitely were not the cheapest I think actually the more the most expensive bid we got. But there were also the most complete from beginning to end. Starting with a quote that they give us, everything was included, there was nothing missing and they weren't trying to up-sell us at a later point. Everything that we had asked for was in the original bid. It was written properly and it did included all aspects of what was needed to complete this home remodeling project. A lot of the other builders that we spoke to did give us bids but they were either missing scopes of work, or for one reason or another things didn't seem quite right. I'm sure that they were also honest but ABC was a little bit different because it felt like they would do a great job on the project and would be a full service team for us. It's been about 6 months since we have moved into the house. And it feels great that things work properly, things look good and you can tell that ABC put in good quality products and used quality contractors to put the whole thing together. Hillside construction is very tough to do. We had no idea as we were new homeowners, and we were not ready to do any hillside construction because it was just so complicated. When we reached out to advanced builders and contractors. They were one of the few contractors who actually took the time and explained the process to us. They kept telling us that we were too early for them and we just simply couldn't understand why. That's when Nick jumped on a call with us and said that in order for him to be able to build a hillside home it was necessary for us to do these reports. We thought that he was over exaggerating the details but we soon came to find out that he was absolutely right and that in order for the structural engineer and architect to move forward they would need those reports. Once we had all our ducks in a row I had all the reports we were ready to speak to the architect and engineer. By then the architect and engineer had already came up with several feasible layouts for the new house. Which we had already agreed to so in a way it actually worked out for our benefit because as we were doing these reports the architect and engineer were already working on these different home layouts for us. Let me just tell you that it was a stressful proejct for us because we were bombarded with so many questions. But just like any other story it worked out eventually. One good thing about Nick was that he was always there for us to ask any question. Whenever we got stuck with something that we didn't understand or know what to do we would call him and he would tell us how to proceed. Once we were successful in getting our final plans stamped by the city we started construction right away with Nick and his crew. And even then we still have to make a bunch of other decisions for example what kind of doors we wanted, what kind of tile we wanted for the pool, what kind of cabinets we wanted and so many other choices that I don't want to remember. Nick and his crew did great job on our house. I don't think I'll ever build a hillside home ever again. But if I do I'll definitely go back to advanced builders. read more

I usually never write reviews but since it took so long to find a reliable contractor it's worth it. We had been thinking about remodeling our home for several years now. At one point we reached out to several general contractors but then we got cold feet and we stopped the process. We came back to the idea of remodeling the home again when we saw that there was no way to repair some of the things that we were up against so we had to completely remodel the entire home from scratch. We reached out to several contractors. Most of the contractors that we reached out to would send out a project manager what we never met with the owner. When we reached out to advanced builders and contractors we actually met with Nick the owner. He was experienced genuine and you could tell he knew his stuff. Working with advanced builders and contractors and Nick was a good experience. Nick was always easy to reach. And he was very well connected. There were a couple of instances where we had to reach out to building a safety again to be able to pull a specialty permit which we thought would take months, but Nick was able to do it with his expeditor in a matter of couple of days. As of course with any project there are unexpected surprises. When we were digging to do our room addition we found out that part of the existing home didn't have any foundation or footing. And again we thought that this would be a huge delay with the city inspector and building and safety. Once again Nick was able to communicate with the structural engineer I come up with a solution fairly quickly. And again we avoided having months of delays. Because of the surprises the project went a little above our initial budget. But I'm glad we built the house in a safe manner. Although Nick had to charge us for the extras he was always fair and didn't gouge us. If you're going to undertake a whole house remodeling project I highly recommend you contact advanced builders and contractors. Like the old saying goes there's many ways to skin a cat. I think the same goes for the construction industry. There's many ways to build a home. Some construction companies claim their design and build while others do just pure construction. Other companies claim that they have their own in-house designers and architects. While many others just specialize in doing the actual construction and providing material labor. There are so many moving parts that its sometimes overwhelming. I have to do a lot of research to really find out what I wanted to build and who would be the best person to do it. I spent numerous hours online reviewing different websites talking to defense contractors and architects and eventually it was almost like I was putting my own team together to build this house. The process wasn't always comfortable and didn't always make sense but somehow it all came together. Even the referrals I got from friends and family didn't always pan out. Because you would talk to an architect that a friend of mine used and he would say that he doesn't specialize in luxury homes, or you would speak to contractor that family member use and he would say that he doesn't specialize in new construction and he does simple remodels. So the lesson I learned is just because a contractor or an architect is a good fit for one of my family members, that doesn't necessarily mean that they will be the best contractor for me. So just like anything else in life when it comes to a important decision I think it is just a filtering process that you have to do to be able to find what works best for you. I can tell you from my experience not just with building a home but in life the best connections I have ever made with any professional is been that we have things in common and we clicked almost immediately. And that holds true here. As soon as I met the architect I ended up ultimately using we knew he would be a good fit because he was able to work on our project right away and his estimate was decent. The same is true with advanced builders. I think within the first several meetings we had with Nick I knew that he would ultimately be our contractor or at the very least it would be a extremely competitive bidder. I'm glad I took my time and interviewing different contractors because it was only after then that I was able to truly understandtheir pricing, method, and ultimately what I would be getting for my money. I began my search for a general contractor on google and yelp. Once I found 4 that were rated well, and were located in Los Angeles. I reached out to them and started the process. He was always in touch with us, and from day one we felt comfortable with him. We were upfront with him and told him our budget, in return he was able to get us almost everything we asked for! My new kitchen consists of semi custom cabinets, beautiful countertops, and new wood flooring. Im very pleased with all the work. The only negative aspect of the project was that they were not able to start on time and we had to delay the work for 1 week, but other than that everything else was good. Their crew was a great they were very respectful and hard workers. They made it to work on time everyday and cleaned as much as they could every day. They were very careful not damage anything. As a DIY handyman myself I know quality work when I see it. I wasn't able to remodel my own kitchen as it was beyond my own skills, so I decided to hire Advanced Builders, and Contractors to accomplish what I couldn't. I was considering remodeling my kitchen for a few years and just never had the money to. When I was finally able to afford it I was so spooked about hiring a contractor. Every story I heard was so terrifying! Everyone I knew remodeled got ripped off, the contractor did a horrible job and had to redo the project, or simply took their money and never showed up. I went on a couple different website to read reviews and watch client testimonials. After meeting a couple of them I decided to sign a contract with Advanced Builders and Contractors. They had great reviews and when I asked if they can take me to a few of their completed and ongoing projects, they did not hesitate! They immediately agreed. We ended up remodeling our kitchen, back yard, and added a new laundry room. Their crew was so respectful, clean, and always on time. Living in your home through construction can be a little bothersome and disturbing. Not to mention that you have no privacy but ABC's crew gave me as much privacy as possible and also disturbed me as little as possible since I work from home. The quality and craftsmanship Advanced provides is just superb! If you are looking for a good, honest, and trustworthy contractor definitely call Advanced Builder's and Contractors! The best way I can explain my experience with this company is that everything was done marvelously. One thing Nick promised us from day one is that we will get custom work. That's exactly what we received - custom remodeling in all matters of the project. Nick helped us hire a custom cabinet maker. They did custom kitchen cabinets, linen closets and our bathroom vanities. Next we needed custom doors and windows since our house was so old and we had to fit all sizes, so once again Nick helped us hire a custom door and window maker. Since we have a large space and the flooring runs through pretty much both top and bottom level and we didn't want to rip out the old woods, we had to hire someone to make us new custom flooring to match the old one that they had put in close to 90 years ago. We also ended up redoing all of our electric lines, plumbing lines, drain lines and gas lines. Nick helped us hire a plaster specialist who was able to duplicate the plaster texture that they had done many years ago. He also was able to help us find the company to duplicate the old plaster base and ceiling molding. Because this was such an old house and large house we had to get the right contractor to be able to do custom remodeling work. Nick was able to find us all the local specialists who work on older homes and are able to duplicate the quality and craftsmanship of what they had used earlier on. We had a lot of woodwork which needed to be customized not just installation but also custom making the actual moldings from scratch. One of the best things about Nick was that he had the answers to a lot of our questions. But what I like most about him is that he didn't get scared from a challenge and in fact pursuited head-on. If there was something that he didn't know he wouldn't just say well that's not my problem. He would go out of his way to help us find the right person or company to be able to do that. I'm truly grateful that we were able to find Nick and his company to be able to help us renovate this property. The house looks marvelous but the best thing about it is that you can't tell that it was done now it still looks like it was built 100 years ago. What Nick was able to do for us was that he gave us great ideas to be able to keep the old charm of the house but still update the house where we have a smart home and smart thermostat and the ability to be able to control a lot of different aspects from our phones or tablets. I truly believe that we spent a premium on this renovation. But it was definitely worth it because the house looks marvelous and the property values since we have done the renovation have gone through the roof. Nick was definitely the most expensive contractor that we had interviewed but he was also the most understanding and the most caring. Also another great thing about him was that he was always accessible to us. Whether we called him, texted him or emailed him he would always get back to us immediately. After getting multiple quotes we finally found this wonderful company. Advanced Builders & Contractors is a very professional construction company. Mr. Nick Yahoodain personally managed and oversaw everything and was very courteous and efficient throughout the entire process. They built a second story master suite and detached ADU for our house and it has worked out beautifully! Their work was detail oriented and looks finished, just like a showroom would look. We received excellent suggestions for design ideas as well as materials to be used etc. from Nick. We chose all the finished materials (flooring, cabinets, mirrors, lighting, etc.) and had Nick's team installed everything. They were great at listening and making sure everything was to our liking. I had an addition put on to my house I used Advance. It was a huge project and I am happy with the end result. Advanced was pleasant to work with and always had our interest in mind throughout the project. Since our project required cassions and lots of metal steel beams it wasn't a regular project we could just hand over to any general contractor. I guess I never really understood that a hillside project required so much more time and attention. Add to that all the other professional involved like the inspectors, architect, engineers, soil guys, framers, foundation contractors, and more it kind of freaks you out. But im happy to say at the end, Advanced took care of everything for us, and made the process as pleasant as possible. Being new to the area we had a wish list of things we wanted done to our home -- an addition in the kitchen, a complete remodel of the master bathroom, main bedroom to create a master suite, and a guest house, update the bathrooms throughout, and create a deck with a pool in the back. I say FIVE STARS -- whenever something came up, their team worked to find a solution as quickly as possible, and to save money where we could. All the workers were friendly and communicative which was very important to me and to the design aspects. It didn't matter if it was 11pm, if we called they came, I can't tell you many contractors who would be as courteous. They modernized my home just the way I wanted within my budget. And all of their contractors were very professional and highly skilled -- exceptional work. The team was very informative and helpful when it came to making choices I wasn't too sure of. But at the same time he had to be able to remodel our existing kitchen and bathrooms. He had to be able to frame and install new doors and windows and also be able to reinstall some of our existing windows. I just remodeled my home and I love it! The remodel took place in 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, my kitchen, living room, and dining room. This was a big job. I wanted to hire a company I could trust and do the job right. I had met with about 7 different contractors, but I decided to go Advanced Builders and Contractors. Before hiring them, I researched companies online to make sure I went with the right company. I read many reviews, watched many of their videos, and had asked to speak to a couple of clients they worked with prior. I liked Nick because he responded quickly and seemed trustworthy. I'm glad I went with them because the work came out beautifully! My home now has a new modernized look with custom shelves; racks in my walk-in closet; dark chocolate colors in the kitchen; easier access into the pantry with pull out shelves; lazy Susan for the rest of my cabinets; hardwood throughout the entire home, and recessed lighting and light dimmers. We were surprised to see how many restrictions we had in Beverly Hills that we don't have in Los Angeles. But nick made the whole process easier than expected! I don't have a lot of experience when it comes to construction and remodeling. The only thing I remember is we remodeled our kitchen once when I was a teenager still living at home and it was a horrible and difficult experience. The contractor was a complete pain in the butt and show up for work one or two days and then disappear for weeks. So when I told my parents that thinking of remodeling my home that reminded me of that experience. One thing my parents mentioned to me is that to make sure I have a clear written contract with everything spelled out. Including having a clear understanding when it comes to payments and timelines. They also informed me that it was a good idea to keep a percentage of the money until everything was completely done and we passed all our inspections. I was very candid with the contractors I met. I told them what my expectations were and that I wanted to have a clear contract with everything that we had discussed for this substantial home remodel. When I spoke to some of the contractors it seemed like I was talking to a wall. I was very clear in the meetings. But it seemed like when they email the contracts they had forgotten what we spoke about. Advanced builders definitely blew me away. They listen to my concerns and gave me a contract to fit the scope of my remodel. Even after we signed the contract I added some more aspects of the job they didn't flinch, and we're happy to have more to do. Hiring advanced photos was definitely a good decision. But I certainly wouldn't want to remodel out of the home and the near future. There's only decisions you have to make. And so many things you have to pick out like bathtubs and toilets and cabinets and so much more it drives you crazy. Although I appreciate what advanced builders did for me. I wouldn't necessarily want to remodel anything ever again. Like most things get what you pay for. And I was certainly the case here. I got all sorts of different prices from the very cheap to the very expensive contractor for this remodeling project. My husband and I recently bought our first home, but we knew it would need some TLC. I decided to try to find someone through Yelp. We hired ABC as our contractor for our home remodel and it was the best decision that we could have made. From the very beginning, Nick was wonderful to work with. He was prompt, professional, and quick to reply to any emails or texts. His initial quote and time estimate were accurate. People warned me that remodels will take 2x as long and be 2x as expensive as the original quote but this was not the case. He did advise us to reserve 15% should something come up, but I want to say we were within 5% of our original estimate after everything was done, because we expected 15% we actually feel like we did really well. He didn't sell us high expectations which we appreciate. Unlike other contractors who gave extremely rough estimates, Nick actually took the time to consult his entire team from framing to drywall so that your estimate is very detailed and accurate. The work he did on our house came out SO beautifully. We get tons of compliments whenever people come to our home. It was a joy to work with ABC and I will never hesitate to recommend them to friends/family or call him again for our next project. Highly recommended.
