Before hiring Regal, I met with and got quotes from about 5 contractors. Their pricing was about on par with most, but what stood out was their responsiveness and level of care. I also had been referred by a friend whose business works with them and she assured me they were reliable and stuck to their schedules. I worked with Ben & Cesar and they were both easy to get ahold of and very helpful. The timeline allotted was about 5 weeks for two complete bathroom remodels, and I had already done demo. On the estimated completion day (the day I moved in to my new house) both bathrooms were almost completely done with the exception of the glass doors (which then came the next week)! I was very pleased with this having heard horror stories of other contractors taking weeks or months extra. From the day after I signed the contract and paid the first installment, there was a worker at my house every single mon - sat. I never had to rush them or ask when things would be done. They were quick to reply to any questions and make any adjustments as the projects progressed. The man who did most of my tile work - Eric - was very careful and paid attention to details. The end results are even more beautiful than what I'd envisioned in my mind! We just did the whole main level of our house in Redondo with Regal and they were fantastic to work with. It's really difficult to find a trust worthy contractor, and we took our time making a decision. We were already leaning towards them, but Shaul took us to see another house they did fairly close by, and meet their customer which really sold us. Workers were here on time everyday and left the place clean as could be expected, which was really nice considering we were living in the bedroom level. Our Forman Manny was great, super detailed, and made some excellent suggestions along the way. When we hit a few snags Shaul was quick to work on solutions and keep the project moving. I had a great experience with Regal and my family is incredibly happy with the work they did for us. We hired them for a bathroom remodel when we first moved in, and they were professional, efficient, and did an excellent job. I communicated primarily with Shaul, and he is professional and friendly. He answered every phone call, text, and question promptly, and worked with us every step of the way on cost. I have overseen many remodels through my work and I deal with contractors regularly. The Regal team is a good one. The negative reviews on here seem off base by my account, my experience was very different. Anyone who has worked with contractors on home renovations should know that an estimate is just that, an estimate. No matter their expertise, no contractor can know what might come up once demo starts and walls are being opened and floors torn out, etc. Home renovations never go exactly to plan, and it is quite unreasonable to expect a business to move forward with work without being paid for work already done. The day to day workers do not get paid salary and a business cannot pay their team if the clients don't stick to a payment schedule. Every worker who came to our home brought his lunch, and cleaned up afterwards, yes there is debris and things that pile up during construction, this is completely normal and should be expected during a project. Every project I have worked on, there are always details at the end that pop up once you are starting to live with the space, this is also standard by my experience, and anytime there was a little thing like a patch or an adjustment needed, Shaul was on top of it and scheduling someone to come out within the week. During our first project with Regal, I was 9 months pregnant, and the team worked extra long hours to get the job done quickly. After coming home with a baby, there was a bit more to do, and the day to day workers did their best to work quietly as well as quickly. They swept up and kept dust to a minimum. The man who tiled our bathroom, Eric, worked late every night and even came on the weekends to finish the work. Shaul knew how important it was for us to have the bathroom remodel done, and he worked extra hard to make it happen. We were so happy with the bathroom that we hired them for our ADU conversion. It is beautifully done and my father in law is so so happy in his new space. I would absolutely recommend Regal for your home renovations/remodel. I cannot recommend enough regal construction and especially BEN!!! Ben is by far the most professional, knowledgeable, well-rounded, and kind general contractor and a person you will ever work with! I met Ben on a Sunday a few days after we purchased our house. After a few minutes of speaking with Ben i realized that he is by far the most knowledgeable and honest GC i had interacted with. He knew exactly what needed to be done and respected our needs and wants. The quote that he gave us was slightly higher than some other GCs, but it was spot on, realistic, detailed, no surprises! I have a very busy and intense schedule and just as Ben promised, we didn't get any "surprise" phone calls or any surprise extra expenses. We had a very tight schedule and needed to move in within 5 weeks. The job included new kitchen, floors, bathrooms, showers, landscaping, paints, appliance and sound wiring and installation, plumbing and maintenance electrical. Basically, everything! On Monday morning (the next day) at 7am I had 6 workers at my house! And for the next 4.5 weeks our house looked like the home renovation TV shows with anywhere between 5-15 workers at all times! Not sure if you had experienced a renovation project before, but this "TV style" work never happens, but it did with Ben. Through the whole project Ben helped us to make decisions regarding just about everything. He has an incredible eye for design and was able to guide us where to buy certain things. He's really the whole package! Our house is exactly how we wanted it to be and we love it! We are extremely happy and grateful and truthfully cannot recommend enough Ben and regal construction! We recently finished the upgrade of our home with Regal Construction & Remodeling. We painted the house from outside and inside including patching and fixing of drywall & stucoo, we upgrading the lighting, new gutters, new roof, new doors, replacing the floors, repainting our kitchen and downsizing our fireplace. The result is fabulous. We couldn't be happier. The various professional teams (electrician, painter , tile etc'.. ) were beyond perfect. I regret the day I signed a contract with Regal Construction for our major home remodeling project. Our project was managed by Sean Aichel. He intentionally underbid the job to win our business, only to turn around and overcharge at every step along the way. In addition, the quality of the work done was horrendous. The problems started early into the job. At multiple times during the project he increased fees and submitted multiple surprise invoices. Don't be fooled by Sean Aichel. He is completely dishonest and disingenuous. The contract clearly stated that any change orders MUST be approved in writing PRIOR to the work being done. This was completely disregarded. The budget we set for the work was completely ignored. Bogus charges which were not agreed to in advance to try to make more money appeared repeatedly. Rambling, incoherent emails from Sean attempting to explain additional invoices, basically amounting to "I need more profit." Here are just a handful of examples of the horrendous work: The roof replacement did not go well - the job was extremely sloppy with unfinished flashings at the roof borders. The exterior cement was damaged and then Sean threatened to charge us to fix it or not fix it at all. Cheap floor samples were recommended by Sean, then deemed not recommended by a professional flooring installer, resulted in having to return the floor and pay a restocking fee. Sean recommended this floor as it was so cheap he would pocket the additional allowance money that was paid to him. Sean destroyed the chimney by removing a supporting wall and it didn't occur to him (or he didn't care) that the structure was unstable. He tried to cover it with drywall, but fortunately we were informed by other fireplace professionals that the structure was completely unstable. I would think a decent and knowledgeable contractor should recognize such a problem when it happens and not cover it up? Leaving this as is would have put my family at major risk in case of an earthquake. Poured concrete in the backyard that developed cracks immediately after poured (first crack less than 24 hours later, second crack one week later). The crack has continued to expand and enlarge. Mistake on kitchen cabinet design which they then charged us later to fix their own mistake in the layout. (Multiple examples of them charging us extra to fix their mistakes. ) Ruined a quartz slab, resulting in a hideous seam where there shouldn't have been one. Did not follow our instructions. Total disregard. Again, additional cost to us to fix the problem (we had to buy another slab). Installed the wrong type of shower door, resulting in removal and damage to tile in shower. Disregard for newly installed flooring and cabinetry, resulting in significant scratches and nicks to both. None of these damages were repaired. Disregard for written plans for backyard design as well as lighting design, then placed blame on us for their own ineptitude and charged extra to fix their own mistakes! Destroyed window coverings which were supposed to be reused. Other examples of destruction and damage to our property. Moved a water heater and it is now leaking, it was fine prior to them touching it. Terrible interior paint job, uneven walls and borders. Very unprofessional looking job. Cracks in stucco. Terrible glass tile work, wrong type of instrument used for cuts or a dull blade. EVERY SINGLE cut tile has a jagged, ugly cut edge and all must be replaced. Open sewer pipe left in kitchen. Destroyed 3 bathroom faucets due to incorrect placement too close to the wall, leaving inadequate space for backsplash installation- such a careless mistake. We were forced to buy 3 new faucets. Many things left in disarray and had to be repaired due to their carelessness and disregard: the AC, the phone line, the alarm system wiring, multiple plumbing issues. All in all, I couldn't be happier to be finished with this shameless and disgraceful company. Sean Aichel is a dishonest and incompetent contractor, who will underbid a project to win the business, only to turn around and use the cheapest possible employees and materials, and cheat the customer every.single.step of the way. He takes no pride in his work, leaves damages and destruction everywhere, and has left us with an unfinished house with mistakes and incompetent work throughout. I regret the day I agreed to do business with this awful company. The cost of this project was at least 25% more than expected and will cost a good deal more to fix the incomplete and incompetent work. Don't make the same mistake, don't believe one false promise or reassurance, you will be sorely disappointed (and majorly ripped off). DO NOT USE REGAL CONSTRUCTION. read more

If we could give 0 stars, we would. The Contractor State License Board is currently doing an investigation into Regal Construction. For reference - once a complaint is filed with the CSLB, it only goes into a full investigation because the CSLB determines that the complaint requires further investigation due to the nature and seriousness of the violations. I would be mindful signing any contract as the result of the current investigation could be that their license is suspended or revoked. This is a nightmare construction company. Disregard the positive reviews. Look at the negative ones. They may say there are "2 sides to every story" - but the reality is Sean (Shahar) Aichel operates a corrupt business. Note: multiple contractors and lawyers have been alarmed that Sean (the licensed contractor and owner) still has a license. Here's a list of some of the egregious things Regal did: 1. They lied to us that the LA Dept of Building & Safety approved the permit and began demolition and building our deck's foundation... it wasn't. Our backyard was then inaccessible and left in shambles for over a month until it was approved. 2. We caught a worker smoking a joint on the job at 10:30am while building the foundation of our deck - the same day we found out they were illegally building it without permit approval. 3. Regal said the architect cost for blueprints and design was $4,000... it was half of that. We suspect they lied a lot about the cost of things. 4. The contract has a "10 DAY RIGHT TO CURE" protection for homeowners - we sent multiple 10 DAY notices... they didn't cure within 10 days or at all. This was just one way they breached the contract. 5. Poor workmanship. Poor workmanship. Poor workmanship. They had to come back and fix something on EVERYTHING they did (vinyl floors, painting, epoxy, a/c unit, sliding glass doors, shower door, deck construction and more). Some was still left unfixed. 6. Miguel was the unlicensed subcontractor in charge of building our deck. He told our new contractor that Regal was trying to get him to cut corners and he didn't know what to do. What corners? Removing the existing stucco mandated by the LA DBS permit... They didnt want to have to put it back on (also in the plans). They even sent one of their illegal change orders to try and get us to pay them to. Once the complaint was filed, they went ahead and did it lol. 7. Did we mention that Sean Aichel is the only licensed contractor with regal and only came to the job site once when we demanded he meet with us in person? No one with an actual license oversaw our large deck construction project. "Project Manager" Shaul Kofler is a licensed salesperson (per CSLB). We brought in a new contractor for an add-on to the scope of work - Shaul told him he doesn't know much about construction and he's a salesperson and musician. Great to hear that the only Regal staffer on-site doesn't know what he's doing... and yet is continuously telling us we owe more money.. 8. They send illegal change orders. This is very significant - this is how they take advantage and try to nickel and dime homeowners. They sent us change orders for aspects of the project that were in the design plans - but since it "wasn't listed in the contract" they demand payment to continue. We confirmed that their change orders are illegal by the CSLB. 9. They request and collect for payment prior to work being completed.. which is against the law. Once we told them we are aware of the law, they suddenly stopped... 10. Shaul drew a 3-sided deck (ours is 2) for the building materials store... so materials were over-ordered. We had to pay a 25% restocking fee to return and Regal took no responsibility. 11. Cigarette butts and trash were constantly left in our backyard from their workers - found by our goddaughter and dogs. After finishing the construction stage, they left a giant pile of debris including their worker's lunch trash on our property for weeks. We kept asking them to clean it up. Finally demanded they do so when we saw rats. 12. We had to hire another contractor to finish the job because they wouldn't continue unless we paid them more money. It was all things in the architect design and in the project's scope of work... 13. They wouldn't let us write joint checks even though their mention in the contract and recommended by the CSLB. There's more but this is long enough. We should have known they were sketchy when they asked for the $1,000 deposit to even move forward with the contract.... We worked with Regal construction on our kitchen,two bathrooms, floors, paint and adding a walk in closet in the master bedroom. We had to upgrade our main panel as well as partial repipe. Shaul was our project manager and did an excellent job overseeing the project. He managed to find solutions for everything that came up during the project, like out of date plumbing and electrical. Completely respecting the design and attention to detail, nothing was ever a problem. It's stunning! He, and his team, saw any issues well in advance before they became problematic, and acted promptly to rectify all situations. Made an appointment for Saturday afternoon because they claimed they could come on weekends since it was easier for customers and they wanted both my husband and I there, we even took a different time they asked of us (we wanted something early, and they called back shortly after to ask if we could do it a bit later on) which would make us a bit late for plans we had, but we wanted to meet with these contractors so we accepted. Friday we got a call to confirm our appointment for Saturday, I picked up the call and confirmed. Saturday they are a no show. We waited an extra hour past the appointment time just in case they were running late. no calls, no email, no follow up call later to apologize. Today after I mailed them, I was told they had a "family emergency" so that is why our time was wasted. Was it so hard to call? We have hired Regal three times now and couldn't be happier! Ben is incredible and so is everyone who came to work on our projects. We remodeled our entire interior with three bathrooms and a kitchen gutted. We removed a wall in the kitchen, too! Regal came in, worked with us on concept and design and got right to work. I couldn't believe how seamlessly they worked with the city on permits. They anticipated everything we'd need. Renovation is a team effort, so we had to move on tasks if we didn't want to hold up the project, but I can say Regal never slacked on the timeline or quality! After we moved in though, we had a flood and had to re-do the entire bottom floor that had just been completed!! Regal was right there by our side and got our home put back together in record time. It looks like nothing ever happened here! Right then a tenant in a rental unit of ours noticed water damage from the roof. Regal did such an incredible job with that repair, our tenant was delighted! I must say I'm a little surprised by some of the negative reviews cause I had a completely different experience with Regal construction and with David, I shopped around for a while with different construction companies to redo my landscape Both front and back of the house, after scheduling my first appointment, David showed up on time (even a little earlier than expected) He was very knowledgeable & professional My husband and I both felt comfortable with him He seemed reliable honest and he pointed out some stuff that we weren't aware of that actually ended up saving us some money. We have done two remodeling projects with Regal. The experience was pure pleasure. Great work ethic. The crews are always prepping work area prior to start of work and clean up work area at end of day. There is always someone on site to address concerns. A great company. I hired Shaul to remodel my condo bathroom. While his quote was a bit higher than the other contractors, I felt that he understood my vision better then the other contractors. My husband and I have experienced six contractors since 1998 for remodeling and landscaping of our homes. Being matched with a reliable, competent and civilized contractor seems to require more than online research; Rather, you need a luck equivalent to the chance of jackpot in Vegas. For our current home, we planned the remodeling of the entire downstairs which included kitchen, family room, living room, powder room, laundry room, gym and bathroom. After interviewing several contractors very, very carefully (since we had a contractor from hell in 2016), we decided to work with The Regal; Sean and Shaul. They were very precise with the budget and timeline while explaining each phase of work in detail; nothing too extravagant or too cheap to achieve. We started in March 2020 and finished the project by June as they promised. Most importantly within the budget and timeline plus some extra improvement of the house thanks to their recommendation that eventually saved us a lot of energy and money. I am not saying that the entire experience was as smooth and rosy as it may sound like; There were some moments of tension and questions on the way like any remodeling projects would create. But all within my realistic expectations and any issues were quickly resolved with the sincerity and efforts of Sean and Shaul. They are such civilized professionals that communication was the best part of the whole project (very rare in the field of construction). My husband and I are professionals so dealing with people who are deceiving or irrational has been the most challenging task along with our aging brains. The project manager Shaul was a god sent and he made the whole experience quite comfortable and sane. And we worked with one of their interior designer, Rande, and the result of the teamwork was outstanding that our home looks like a resort now. Also, all their workers were polite, clean and hard-working (again very rare). I have waited to write a review more than a year because I wanted to see how their warranty service would work out. It was beyond my picky expectations! They are highly responsible for their job and extremely prompt, sincere and efficient with any issues related to their work (they don't seem to care about expenses to make sure all is in a great working condition). We are done with our home renovation but we will definitely recommend The Regal to our children or friends with great confidence. It was a good match after all! :) read more

We hired Regal Contractors to execute a full home remodel of a 3 bedroom/2 bath house in Atwater Village. They met with us several times before we hired them and worked hard to help us cut down our architect's plans so that the job was within our budget. Throughout the process, our project manager was extremely attentive, responding to texts within minutes no matter the day or time, flexible with meeting and calling when there were any questions. However, we did feel that overall job oversight was somewhat lacking. Our project manager did not visit the jobsite frequently enough to provide the level of supervision that we were expecting. This led to some delays and a few errors in work execution, and we ultimately felt that we needed to visit the jobsite very frequently to check the progress of the work. A number of the workers/teams they used did imprecise work requiring return visits, though the project manager did work with us on each of these issues. Additionally, we felt that Regal was too eager to send costly change orders for work that we felt should have been included, based on the contract and our understanding of the scope of the job. In the end, we were mostly happy with Regal's work and timeliness in completing the job (only about 2 months over estimated timeline).  Our project manager was a pleasure to work with and did try his best to resolve our issues, but we would hesitate to recommend Regal to first-time home remodelers without some qualifications. read more

When my husband and I where looking into doing a remodel of our kitchen and bathroom, we met with two different contracting companies. We chose Regal because Sean, the designer and owner, was very down to earth and saw the vision we had for our 1920's Spanish style home. We wanted to keep as much of the integrity of our home as possible, while updating and making a more open space. Our original plan to to rearrange the bathroom moving the sink, toilet and shower while putting in new floor tile, wall tile, toilet and vanity. For the kitchen, we where taking three rooms (pantry/mudroom, kitchen and breakfast nook) and turning them into one room, knocking down three walls and putting in an island/prep station. We turned the pantry/mudroom into a laundry room as well. We also needed to rewire the house as the wiring was from the 20's. Along the way we decided to tear down the plaster in our living and dinning room (and put up dry wall, while keeping a curve to our ceiling), refinish the floors, paint the two bedrooms, paint the outside of the house, adding recessed lighting through out the whole house, put in new copper pluming and putting in new windows. Sean and his team worked very well and in a timely manner with the additional work. Our project went from a remodel to a whole home makeover and Regal was able to do it in just over 2 months. Also, while the house was unlivable Sean put us up at a local hotel for 2 weeks. My only critique would be a lack in communication. There where a few times, when we had questions and/or concerns, we could not get our point across to the staff at our home. However, Sean was usually available via cell phone and text messaging. We are very happy with our new home! read more

We remodeled our master bathroom and added a powder room with Regal Construction. Asaf Koflet led the team so well. They were involved with every aspect from start to finish including color schemes and picking each and every fixture. Most importantly, they finished on time. There were setbacks as there always are, but Asaf K. and his foreman, also named Asaf, were on top of everything right away. Communication was never a problem, they were easily reachable through text or phone calls and responded right away when there were any issues. I love my bathroom, and our new powder room. We will definitely use them again for any remodel. read more

As we sit in our new beautiful kitchen writing to express our thanks to you, the only word that comes to mind is Wow. When we set out on this journey, friends and family who were experienced in remodels warned us of the headaches and heartaches we were about to experience. The end result was well worth it, they advised, but getting there was hell. We could not have had a more different experience. From that very first meeting with Asaf, we were both so impressed. He was very flexible. He was very personable. He worked around our schedule and everything went very smoothly.
