My elderly MIL found Advanced Dentistry through a friend referral and after going with her, I understand why she found her new dentist. First of all, Jill, the treatment coordinator is awesome! She's so caring, thoughtful, and really made us feel she is for us. She got my MIL in a plan to get her teeth fixed so she could eat comfortably by this Thanksgiving. So thoughtful. Dr John Varghese is not only highly intelligent, but he clearly shows he cares about his patients. He patiently went through each step of the plan to get my MIL's teeth back to normal so she could enjoy life in her late 80's. I liked them so much I too switched to them and got my first X-rays and cleaning. I have issues with grinding my teeth and it's getting to the point where I needed to assess what I need to do to protect my teeth so that I can still use them as I get older. They drew a plan out with what options might be best to tackle my case and I appreciate knowing all the pros and cons of my decision and being informed of the process. Dr. John at Advanced Dentistry is a wonderful dentist along with his staff. My journey spanned multiple months for dental implants. I decided on Dr. John following initial consultations with three other dental professionals with high ratings for dental implant procedures. During my initial consultation, Dr. John provided very detailed information about the implants needed for my entire upper jaw. He is very kind and answered my numerous questions. There were times we even had humorous exchanges. The office staff starting with Yvette at the front desk, Jill, Krystal, and Lupe are always so friendly and caring. Jill (coordinator) explained in detail all phases of my dental implants including cost and follow up. I am very pleased with my dental implants. I came here because I was recommended by a friend but this is definitely not the place your looking for. At first they were friendly and nice to me but then when it came to my teeth and which I understood that I hadn't came for a cleaning for a year but didn't have to be so mean about it. Not only that but they kept pushing for me to get Invisalign. Telling me how much I needed it not for the looks of how "bad my teeth" in their view but how it would help me when I'm older. I told them how I didn't have the funds and the situation I was in they didn't seem to care they just keep pushing for me to get it and even said why don't I ask my mom or my spouse for the funds. Like why do they think I have that choice ? Didn't care for me just wanted my money and once they saw me cry cause I felt so pressured by what they had said to me they let it go. But then the Dr saw me upset going to my car and wanted to stop me in my car to tell me after she done said how bad my face and my teeth were that not to stress out that I'll be okay. I called the next day to cancel my appointments and told them not to call me or email me because I didn't want to be associated with them. And after that they still tried to reach out 2 times back to back. I was reading the reviews just now about advanced dentistry. I like many others and not a big fan of dentist. I went in just to talk to the front desk not knowing what I was getting into and before I knew it I was talking to the office manager and then eventually the doctor about my current situation. They didn't charge me a dime, they just gave me the attention that I didn't think I would be getting but was definitely impressed. I read in one of the reviews that Dr. John was rude, at that point I knew it could not be a real review. Dr. John is one of the most caring dentist and very considerate of expenses that I will ever meet. I am 55 years old and have been to the dentist has multiple times I can assure you Dr. John is one of the best in the industry. Cynthia his office manager does an awesome job as well. read more

I recently had a horrible experience at Advance Dentistry, Sugar Land where staff seems trained on using tactics to impose high bill on you. I would like to give ZERO star to Advance Dentistry for the trick they did to impose unsolicited services and bill. I had a "Cleaning only" appointment in the first week of May. After the cleaning job is done, an unknown doctor came and started discussing my dental health. She kept occupying me by taking unsolicited pictures of my mouth. She was not an orthodontist, however she wanted to give me an orthodontist treatment. They literally pushed me to get x-rays done without me having any complaints or issues. I resisted and could hardly manage and avoided that x-ray activity. I clearly told them that I had not planned this visit for anything more than a cleaning, and I was running out of time to reach to my work. They scheduled for me a re-visit. When I cancelled that second appointment, they realized that they have lost the business. Within few days, they sent me a huge bill for all the unsolicited services that they practiced. The bill comes in the name of Dr. John Varghese whereas he actually did not see me for a minute. The bill even did not mention who was the provider who did the evaluation. They literally imposed the services on me and then a bill. When I called their clinic to discuss my concerns about this bill, their staff member did not allow me to speak and said, it is required by state law that we do your dental examination even though you do not want. She further said, like you take your car to mechanic, they advice you on what all is needed for safety of your vehicle. This explains the level of this dental practice where they see the patient as a vehicle for business. Who in the world does unsolicited assessment and then sends a bill for assessment?! She was very augmentative on the phone which itself explained that they are not doing right practice, hence they need to be argue with the car examples with a patient who does not give them the targeted business. read more

As much as I totally HATE going to the dentist Dr. John and his staff always make sure that I'm at ease and they deliver A+ service. Frances is the best hygienist ever!! She's very patient with me and she talks me through everything she's doing. She checks on me throughout the cleaning just to make sure I'm OK. I couldn't ask for me. When it's time for payment April is very detailed and gives payment options that best fit my budget. It's always a pleasure meeting with her. Unless you want to get scammed I don't recommend going here. I came here once and they told me I needed a ridiculous amount of fillings. Not knowing any better I got them all for, of course, a ludicrous amount of money. Upon being looked at by the next dentist I went to (who, by the way, told me that I didn't have a single cavity) he said they were just "glorified sealants." Then they told me I needed to come back every 3 months to check on my "gingivitis" which they didn't even mention when I came back, they just told me I had more cavities. You'' notice there's another reviewer who had the same experience but got filtered out (likely because they only got on to review what a terrible experience they had here.) I am not a fan of dentist at all BUT Dr. John and his hygienist Frances made me feel more at ease. Frances explained everything she was doing and would ask me throughout if I was ok. Dr.John explained everything to me and by no means were either of them pushy or forceful in what needed to be done. I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of. I used to be a broke college student who couldn't afford a bottle of Vo5 shampoo. Naturally, during this dark time in my life, I developed an explainable tooth pain. And, more naturally, since I couldn't afford Ramen noodles, I definitely couldn't afford a dentist. So, I spent my college years self-medicating this explainable tooth ache. Upon graduating I had no insurance, a crap job, and a raging tooth pain. One day my pain got so bad that I couldn't ignore it. I went to some hood-rat dentist for help. I told them, "My tooth hurts. It feels like I'm being murdered from the inside of my mouth." They slapped that tooth with a thick instrument to see how sensitive it was. The dentist called me a baby when I came out of the chair crying. Then she told me I basically had third-world periodontal disease and would need to pay them $600 to deep clean my gums. That's all my problem was. I told this to my millionaire-boss (who paid me enough to live like a migrant worker) and she was shocked and appalled. She was absolutely convinced that the hood-rat dentist was lying to me, and thus, even though she did not provide me with benefits, I needed to see her dentist. Off to see this magical dentist I went. He told me I had minor gingivitis and definitely didn't need a deep-cleaning. I just had a couple of cavities and that tooth - the one the other dentist had slapped with some evil hammer - had several cracks. It would cost around $800 to put a crown on this tooth he told me. Also, he said I needed braces. (He could get me the hook up because coincidentally, his brother was an orthodontist.) Now, one would think that my journey to fix this tooth ended here. Except it did not. This magical dentist was an asshat. When you are poor and can only afford to live in a dungeon, $800 is a lot of money. But, I was willing to do whatever it took to fix this tooth of Satan. So, I scheduled time off with my boss. I paid for the sedation medication. (Side note, I am afraid of the dentist. I have been ever since the hood-rat dentist slapped my fractured tooth with a brick. The magical dentist had no tolerance for shy, nervous patients. He initially refused to work on me unless I calmed down - as in, please go home. Then he decided to just medicate me. Then he made it rule that whenever I see him, I should forevermore be knocked out on Valium.) Since I was knocked out on Valium, I couldn't drive. Thus, I had to kick some gas money towards my hot, but equally broke friend, and have him drive me to the dentist. But it was worth it. Because I was FINALLY going to be rid of this tooth pain that had plagued me for years. Only this was not the case. The dentist decided he wasn't going to put a crown on my tooth. He thought he would save me $800 by adjusting my bite so that I wouldn't put pressure on this broken tooth. Now, had I not been knocked out on Valium, I might have argued with him. But alas, I was gone. I vaguely remember his dental assistant calling my hot friend - who I had a MAJOR crush on - to come into the room. While I was sprawled out in the chair with my grill open and looked the opposite of sexy, she told him every single tooth flaw. Because she thought he was my boyfriend. And apparently, that's what you tell boyfriends. I finally woke up 12 hours later and my friend called me to be all, "Btw, you need braces. You have five cavities. You need a dental cleaning. But first, it sounds like you should really look into those braces. She said your teeth are trying to run away from each other." Awesome. Excuse me while I go kill myself. This struggle to find a dentist who would listen to me went on for years. By then I had a decent job that had benefits, but couldn't find a decent dentist. In fact, just when I thought that all dentists were total nincompoops, a friend gave me a recommendation to see her dentist, Dr. John Varghese. I went to him expecting him to be equally retarded. Oh man, that man saved my life. First, he did not care that I was a nervous Nellie. He let me listen to my music to help drown out the noise. He gave me free Nitrous to help abate the anxiety. (It's no longer free, but it is an option.) He fixed my devil tooth. He gave me a root canal. (It was an emergency issue by that point.) He told me I couldn't even have braces because I had gum disease by that point. Any time I was short on funds they did a payment plan for me. Candace, who handles the payments, is really good about watching out for your wallet. I know this has been a long review, but I just wanted to give everyone an idea of my journey to find a great dentist. Now that I've found Dr. John I'll never go to another dentist again. I 100% recommend him to anyone. (And have!) PS: Dr. John's office is well aware of HIPPA rules. They will not call your ride into the room and mock your teeth. (I made sure.) read more

Not sure you can base things off of the 2 negative complaints on here because after all, you can go to 6 different dentists and get 6 different oral exam results. I hated going to the dentist, but now Dr. John and his staff have changed that for me. There are NO rude people here. It might be that the other reviewer just didnt like what they heard in regards to their exam. I didnt like what I heard either. Who gets excited when a dentist tells you that you need crowns? I have had 4 so far spread out over a year and I never feel that they have anything in mind other than the best interest of you as a patient Dr. John is gentle and makes sure you dont feel any pain. I hope he never retires and I hope Crystal, Jaime, and Franky never leave either. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and most importantly treat you right. I feel comfortable going there and I dont think the prices are ludicrous as one reviewer stated. Your not getting a haircut you are getting dental work.....it will cost money. I have been a patient of Advanced Dentistry for over 10 years. When I started coming to Dr. John my teeth were a mess. I had bleeding gums, a lot of plaque, bone loss and loose teeth. Dr. John and my hygienist, Frances, recommended a treatment plan and it saved all my teeth. I am always informed about any issues I have and what treatments they recommend. Then I made the decision about when or if I want to have it done. This is a great dental practice and everyone who works there is fantastic. I recommend them 100%. read more

They claimed I needed 20+ fillings. I've never had a cavity in my life and still don't. He tried to show me under his microscope of little dark spots. All of which looked like nothing more than normal debris/buildups to me. I am not a dentist, so that was my opinion. My dental health is later confirmed with other dentist after this place and I still have no cavities and require no fillings. Secondly, they tried to charge me $90+ even though my insurance covered the cleaning. I had to go home and print out my coverage so they can refund my money, which they did the refund. Based on other review, looks like I am not the only person who experienced this. read more

Advance Dentistry has always been great with every visit I had. They are great people and always take time to answer any question that I might have. Dr. John filled 9 teeth for me. I am always nervous about getting in the dental chair because I have trouble getting numb. Dr. John said he could do my fillings without the injections. So, I agreed and was very surprised that I felt very little and he was able to finish all of my work in one visit! Everyone in the office is very friendly and willing to explain why you need what you need. The office is small and cozy and everyone seems to enjoy working there. I think Dr. John lack a lot of confidence, He is pretty indecisive with direction. He balked 2 times on my root canal and in the end sent me to a specialist. I do think he has good hygienist though, unfortunately when you pick a practice the main decision has to be the doctor not hygienist. Great dental office. Doctor is very skilled. Staff is extremely knowledgeable. They treat everyone like they are part of the family. The doctor uses a camera to exam the mouth. You get to actually see the cavity instead of a doctor just telling you that you have a cavity. They also offer blankets,music and nitrous to help make your experience an enjoyable one. I was referred to Dr. Varghese John by my daughter about 2 years ago and have never regretted going to see him. He is a most caring, gentle dentist. I have always had a fear of dentists as I hate the numbing part because every dentist I have been to in the past I always felt such pain with them moving from side to side with that darn needle that looks 10 in. long, but with Dr. John I have never felt any pain. They have always explained everything that was being done and why. Never have they been pushy or tried to make me get services my insurance may not cover. The staff is always so friendly and really make you feel at ease. Before I went to Dr. John I had made appointments with two dentists in the Missouri City area, one of whom I had visited back in the 1990's off FM 2234, and the rudeness of the staff when I made the appointment had me searching. I remembered my daughter talking about Dr. John and called them and just from making the appointment with the front office staff, I was immediately sold. They were very pleasant, cheerful, I was not rushed off the phone or being made to feel like I was interrupting their day which is how the other offices made me feel. I am so thankful for all the work that has been done and not once have I regretted going to Advanced Dentistry. Yes, I have had to spend some money, but these are my teeth and I want to keep them a long time and I feel that Dr. John has my best interest at heart when it comes to my teeth. Be careful of this dental office!! I took my brother and I for a check up/cleaning. I wanted to try a new dentist because I wanted a place that did the ZOOM whitening for cheap. For cleaning, xray, and exam it was $70/person. Dr. John told my brother he needed 3 fillings and quoted him $500+. He told me I needed 4 fillings and 1 crown and quoted me 1500+! This was a shock to me considering I had been to the dentist 7 months prior and needed NO work done! My brother and I decided to go back to my original dentist, and get his opinion. Come to find out after our xray and exam, my brother only needed 1 filling for his ONE cavitiy, and I needed NO WORK DONE!! I did not have a single cavity. I was thankful I was smart enough to go get a second opinion. Be wary of Dr. John. If his diagnosis is a shocker, get a second opinion! read more
