He then installed my hard drive into the replacement machine. When he was finished it was BETTER than then before! The screen was "mirror clear," no scratches, the speakers worked again and the mouse pad was smooth! FYI: shortly after 2015 many laptop developers did away with hard drives in order to migrate users to "the Cloud," thus creating customers billed monthly for back-up data storage. They reused the old adhesive, which allowed moisture to get in, and did not replace a clamp (meaning the clamp was totally missing). New place said it was so egregious they suggested doing a chargeback and said they would provide documentation for it. We will pursue this avenue. Do not use ifixit.
