Neighbors, many of you come here for recommendations - I want to share a negative experience I've…read morehad with a local handyman that I found on this app. Adam Ward with A+ Property Services - back in mid September helped me with a roof leak - he showed up and repaired the damaged area outside and told me we'd have to let the ceiling dry out inside before he could patch the drywall. He charged $100 for the roof work and drywall patch. He also recommended putting gutters on and quoted me a little over $400 and requested a $100 deposit for materials. I paid him $200 via check - which he cashed a few days later ($100 for repairs and $100 for deposit). If he didn't have time, he shouldn't have cashed the check. I contacted him several times via phone and text. He responded several times with appointment times and stood me up every time. I finally gave him an ultimatum: complete the work by 10/25 or I'm finding someone else to install gutters- and I'll need my $100 deposit returned. He set another firm appointment, confirmed it the day of, and ghosted AGAIN. Remember, the work that remained was INSIDE my home, so I had to be sure someone was home during every scheduled appointment time. I informed him I no longer needed his services and requested my $100 deposit back. Rather than admitting that he was in the wrong, he promised to return the funds via PayPal at my request (I'm not about to accept a check from this guy). I set a deadline, figuring that all of these promises were empty, but was willing to be patient and allow for redemption. No money has been returned. And my ceiling never got patched. A job half done and $100 stolen. And a lot of time wasted. I'm not going to tell you he is not skilled in this line of work - he might be, I don't really know. I'm also not going to try to ruin his livelihood -- So sure, hire him, but do NOT pay him until all work is complete. Yes, Eau Claire is short on handymen and yes, you may be desperate - but do not make the same mistake I did.

We absolutely WOULD NOT recommend hiring Adam for your home projects. He is unreliable and…read moredishonest. We hired him to re-frame and repair our storm windows back in October. He was initially very responsive and cooperative, but then stopped showing up for scheduled appointments and offered many different excuses when we'd follow up with him. Eventually he stopped responding to our calls and text messages and never finished the job. He had taken our windows to his shop for repair and still, to this day, has not returned them to us. Toward the end of our attempts at reaching out to him we asked him to return our property and that we'd pay him for the work he had completed but that we no longer wanted his services. We gave him multiple attempts to make things right and he has not. Learn from our mistakes and move on to the next handyman for help.
