I have never written a review before, especially for a medical professional, but after my recent experience at Advanced Endodontics and Dr. John Stuparitz , I felt compelled. (I also have a habit of rambling on so let me apologize in advance before you read on.) I have an unnatural, unhealthy, fear of dentistry in general, as so many do. Mine is more on the severe side. When I was having pain, I saw my local dentist who informed me I needed to get a root canal, as it was infected. Well, imagine my fear, shock and sincere intention of putting it off for as long as I could. Which I did. (I don't recommend putting it off, it just gets worse). That said, they gave me three specialists to pick from. I called each office, spoke to the staff, asked a few questions, example, how is he with pain, how is he with scared to death patients, the important questions. From my first contact with the staff and Advanced Endodontics, I had a feeling about them. The lovely lady who answered the phone and who walked me through the process was very comforting, understanding and truly helped me feel a bit (and I mean A BIT) at ease. I made the appointment. HUGE step for me!! The fear continued to grow as my appointment approached. I mustered the courage and off I went. I walked in the door and the instantly almost took me by the hand to calm me down, introduce the staff and to explain the procedure. First thing I noticed, after meeting the fabulous people he has on his team, was the classic rock music on the speaker. That put me at ease a wee bit more. Then Dr. Stuparitz came in. We were introduced and I proceeded to tell him just how scared to death I was and continued to babble on. He was instantly calming, reassuring, compassionate and truly understood my fears. He explained he doesn't like his patients in pain either and they do what they can to avoid that. He also told me they like to have fun and that they do. He is funny, thoughtful, kind and a truly caring man. He's actually very charming and reassuring. It is truly an incredibly enjoyable group of people he has assembled. The procedure went better than I could ever have imagined. I realize I could jinx this, but my procedure was one week ago today and I have had zero pain, I mean ZERO, nothing, nada! I realize that is not normal, and I'm ok with that. I would go back to see that man in a heartbeat. So, if you need any root canals done, trust me from one who is absolutely terrified about dentistry, let alone something more complex like a root canal, I truly wouldn't think twice about going back. I wouldn't be afraid at all. You shouldn't be either. Once you meet Dr. Stuparitz and his staff, you will feel totally at ease and realize that it's really not a big deal, but only because he makes it easier. So, stop putting it off. I was referred to Dr. Stuparitz by Dr. Tincture at Lake Forest Dental for work on a failing root canal. Dr. Tincture did a very through examination and said that she sent copies of my x rays and scan to him. I made an appt. with Dr. Stuparitz. The next day I get a call that the doctor has an emergency and has to reschedule. No problem, except NOW they want to schedule a consultation. Ok. I get there and the "dental assistant" has no idea why I'm there. I refer her to Dr. Tincture's info and she says that the only info they have from the dentist that that I need an eval. I tell her that i'll call the dentist for the X-rays, etc. She tells me they have to take there own x-rays anyway. OK. Then I ask her about the process for conscious sedation and if I have to make another appt. Then she tells me that today' s appt is for the sedation (huh?) and that they won't do the work without it. I asked for Nitrous instead. And again, I was told that I would have to be sedated. There is no reason to force a patient to be sedated for a root canal! What were they basing their decision on? They hadn't even look at all the X-rays or scans. This is just an flagrant example of price gouging. I left but they charged me for the X-rays anyway! I would like to show my gratitude for this wonderful company! I unfortunately have encountered HORRIBLE dental problems in my life, which led me to have some bad experiences with dental offices. Sadly I got to a point where I found my self NOT wanting to continue getting my teeth worked on, until the time arrived where I was in unbearable pain! I was told that I had to have a root canal done. Naturally, I was scared to go anywhere. I was referred to Advanced Endodontics in Gurnee by several different people. I live twenty minutes North of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and could not be HAPPIER that I was referred to such a great place. The minute I walked in the door I was greeted with smiling faces, staff taking my coat and offering me magazines to read. The second I got in the back I was told exactly how the doctor was going to treat my teeth and why he was going to do what he was doing. No matter what he did or the staff did, they thoroughly explained themselves and ALWAYS made sure I was pain free. The best part of this whole appointment is the numbing. I normally take up to 7 shots of numbing medicine(which hurts) and they were so good with what they were doing, I only needed two! This dental appointment changed my whole perspective of going to the dentist! They even called to make sure everything was going ok after my appointment! Let's face it, a root canal is not something anyone is looking forward to, most are likely downright dreading it. I was in this position in March and needed a root canal prior to crown work. My dentist had another patient who had used Advance Endodontics and Dr Stuparitz and gave me their contact information. I contacted the office, was able to make an appointment for the following week. As the time approached, so did the nerves. The office staff was very professional and everything was explained in good detail. The procedure ended up really being a non-event; no issues, no concerns, no pain. I'd almost say it was pleasant although that would probably be strange. The procedure was very thorough and detailed, ensuring everything (root removal) was fully complete and prepared for the future filling and crown work. The follow up included emergency contact information if I needed to contact them, a phone call to me the next day, and a follow up letter to make sure I followed up with my regular dentist. Also got a prompt, small refund check after the insurance covered slightly more than estimated. I'm finding out that the dental profession is very specialized. As far as this type of procedure, I'm hoping I won't need another in the future but should it be needed, I definitely would return to see Dr. Stuparitz. read more

I was referred here from my Dentist, Barbara Pintz in Grayslake who I've had for over 13 years. I trust her referrals greatly and I was NOT disappointed. I found out on a Tuesday I needed a root canal and by Thursday Dr. Stuparitz was able to take me in because I was in severe pain from having broken my molar. The procedure was very quick and painless. Most of the pain I did experience was after the anesthesia wore off but they did give me antibiotics, steroids and pain killers. When I called a week later that my gum was still a bit swollen they called in more antibiotics and steroids and it went away within days. I am Murphy's law and whatever can go wrong usually does, but I think they staff was very professional and caring and handled any questions and concerns. They also called back 2x to follow up, one the day after and the second a few days after I had called about the pain and swollen gum. They also worked with me to do a payment plan and I found out my last payment was way less than expected because of my dental insurance. Overall great service and I would recommend! read more

Very thankful for Dr Stuparitz! The VA gave me a consult to go out into town to get an emergency root canal on a Friday. Unfortunately, the VA waited a bit longer than they should have to approve the consult and by the time they did, a lot of dental providers had gone home for the weekend. Dr Stuparitz, without hesitation, came back into work to make sure a Veteran wasn't going to be in pain all weekend. I thank God he was so willing to come back into work because I would NOT have been able to make it the whole weekend in that much pain. I met his wife after the root canal & she made sure I had enough meds to make it through the weekend. She & Dr Stuparitz were very genuinely caring people, as were all the techs that I had the pleasure of speaking with. Very professional, very caring and I would 100% recommend them to anyone! Thank you Dr Stuparitz for caring enough to make sure I didn't go any longer in pain! And I think my family would thank you also since I wasn't in any more pain & NOT grumpy anymore! read more

Was referred by my dentist to get a Cone Beam/ CT scan which Dr. Stuparitz charged me $355.00. Being a cash customer I asked for a discount because he would not have to wait for his payment with insurance. They denied that to me. The next day I had the tooth extracted by another surgeon that charged me $285 for the extraction and took the same exact scan with the same machine for no charge. Please be aware of the scam going on at this office. I then called to have a call back from Dr. Stuparitz and he felt there was no reason to return my call and had his assistant call me who explained he is not available. The surgeon that did the surgery phoned me personally on Saturday the day after his procedure to check how I was feeling. Dr. Stuparitz has no concern for his patients or what their concerns are. I wouldn't recommend anyone else other than Dr. John Stuparitz for the dental services he provides. Dr. Stuparitz knew I was fearful of the procedure I was about to get. He walked me through the process and when I tell you I had no pain, I literally had no pain! He made this such a pleasant experience for me I literally hugged him when I left! He was efficient, quick, and made sure I did not feel a thing! He also genuinely cares about his patience and takes the time to make sure you are ok, lets you know where he is in the process, and just a stand up Dr.! I will not go anywhere else if I have to have future dental work done as he is that great! Highly recommend him, will be recommending him to my family and friends in need! I have always been terrified of getting any dental work done until I visited Advanced Endodontics. Hearing the words "root canal" is enough to send anyone running, but rest assured that you will be in good hands in this office. The staff and environment was very welcoming and professional and they were able to work around my busy schedule to find an appointment time that fit my needs. I had heard good things about Dr. Stupartiz from my referring Dr. but he definitely exceeded my expectations. He made me feel comfortable with his friendly disposition and his jokes and was very clear about what he would be doing. I did not feel any pain throughout the visit and the post-treatment was easy and involved minimal pain. No one likes getting dental work done, but if you have to I would highly recommend Advanced Endodontics. read more

For over a year, I've been meaning to write this review. Finally found my yelp password. I went to this group after learning that I needed a root canal, and they were great from start to finish. The appointment scheduling process was relatively fast and both the doctor and the assistants were great throughout the process. they answered my numerous questions in great detail and help to make me feel comfortable, especially when I expressed a concern about feeling claustrophobic with the mask on my face. It has now been a year since having the root canal done and everything has been absolutely perfect, no issues. read more
