I was really desparate for a proper fitting night guard for my tmj. So far in 18 mos I had 2 that either broke or didn't fit properly. I jave had tmj for years and my teeth and jaw are in pain from it (and aching neck and shoulders just didn't realize it until this apor). I started doing some research and ran across dr Shapira called and got a same day appt. This wasn't in my budget but if I could get a proper fitting appliance it was well worth it o me. I didn't know by consult it meant the whole explanation of tmj and the full on treatment for it. I now understand it's not just about a night guard but a whole treatment and how tmj affects the whole body. The consult was pricey for my budget and I really thought I was coming in to get relief for my aching jaw and teeth and neck ( night guard) but I instead was consulted on how much damage the tmj does to the rest of your body and even proved it in the consultation I was blown away by some of the tests it was pretty interesting to learn how tmj can affect so many muscles. Then the treatment plan was presented. Being that insurance doesn't cover any of this and treatment is pricey (in the thousands) the drs knowledge is out of this world for that I give 4 stars the -1 star is for still not having a solution for my issue. When you are on a fixed income and insurance won't cover there is no way to obtain these svcs. I understand the concept of treating the whole issue but for me having the proper appliance would have meant the world. In my world a little bit of some relief is better than no relief maybe have some other plans for us to afford such as tiered (I can do TENS at home) or options for those of us who can't afford the whole package??. Oh and the dr was kind enough to fit my ill fitting appliance until I figure out a solution. Still would have loved to get a proper fitting appliance and will probably try one from online and mold it myself as the next temp fix. I wanted to update my feelings....my adjusted night guard was so far better...I noticed the 1 star rating and I have to add that if this is affordable for you go for it!! The knowledge of how tmj was very helpful it's not just about night time it's about your while body being in balance. Dr Shapira has this knowledge and a treatment plan that I am sure could fix this Long term it is not a quick fix. I recently had my first root canal. Having been a patient of Dr Shapira's for the past 24 years, I wasn't worried at all about the procedure - I was, however, feeling anxious about myself! How I might feel during it and would I have a lot of pain after! Well, Dr Swenson, who performs only root canals at Delaney Dental, was just wonderful. Very calm, explained everything to me prior, during and after - quite honestly I didn't feel a thing! I found myself thinking, I actually feel peaceful laying here! His assistant Lila was nice and funny and made me really at ease. The thing that bothered me most was my TMJ - which was triggered by keeping my mouth open in the position it needed to be for the procedure. Dr Swenson made me as comfortable as possible, recognizing my jaw was uncomfortable, but the flare up really hit overnight and the next morning. I have to say - I knew Dr Shapira would understand and I saw him less than 24 hours after my root canal. He helped to loosen my tight jaw muscles and I used the TENS treatment for TMJ for the first time. He even let me take it home to use overnight !! Tori was just wonderful, showing me how to work it, answering my questions and making sure I felt better before I left. I cannot give enough praise, thanks and gratitude to everyone who works at Delaney Dental. This place is truly unique. Everyone who walks through their doors should know that no matter what your issue is, you will not find better or more compassionate, skilled care and genuine concern by each person who works there! I have been seeing Dr. Shapira for many, many years and have had just about every procedure possible to my mouth. I am one of those people who is terrified of the dentist, my palms sweat and my heart rate goes up , all the anxiety and so on. But after my first visit with Dr.Shapira , I think 13 years ago , I knew he was the dentist for me. We have all become friends there.Theyhave helped me through some very hard times in my my life and I have become privy to their personal lives as well.His assistant Kelly has become my friend and has supported me through a lot of hard decisions and procedures that needed to be done .I am gearing up for a pretty radical surgery next week and they have prepared me with the medications I will need ahead of time and as terrified as I should be , or would be , I know I'm in good hands with Dr.Shapira. They have worked out a plan with myself and my husband and have gone above and beyond to work with us on some pretty costly procedures. Dr.Shapira ALWAYS calls before leaving the office to check on me at home after procedures and ALWAYS makes himself available after hours if we need him .I couldn't love these people any more , the wonderful staff at the front office are so kind I recommend Delany Dental to everyone I know and always will. I have been treated for migraines , had extractions, have had botox for muscle spasms in my jaw and like I said, I am having a surgical procedure called an Alveoloplasty next week, but I know I'm in good hands with Dr.Shapira and Kelly so my anxiety is almost nil. I first was a patient of Dr. Amidei years ago. I stopped seeing him because his practice wasn't in my insurance network. Fast forward to this past week when a failing tooth became as painful as any dental condition I have experienced. I knew Dr. Amidei had successfully implemented a remedy for a friend's advanced periodontal disease; my friend raved about the quality of care he received. I was able to get in to see Dr. Amidei first thing the next morning for what was planned as an initial consultion, X-Rays and figuring out a course of treatment for my own periodontal disease. When Dr. Amidei saw what was going on, he told me that the source of my pain was a tooth that had to come out. In the past, I always have been put under for the most minimal of procedures. Dr. Amidei and his assistant, Stacy, gently and professionally assured me that I could handle the extraction without being put under, and much to my initial surprise, THEY WERE RIGHT! I was in the chair for over two hours, and now have a sound plan to tackle my advancing periodontal disease. Dr. Amidei's practice still isn't in my insurance's network, and I will spend more money than I would going to someone in network, but I wouldn't consider going to anyone else than Dr. Amidei. I've been seeing Dr Shapira since 1998. In college I developed severe TMJ symptoms where I could no longer open my mouth more than an inch. I saw numerous specialists all over the state, visited top hospitals including the Mayo clinic. My family spent a lot of money and I got no relief from my symptoms. It wasn't until my mom called the TMJ association in Texas and got Dr Shapira's name. I was skeptical when I had my first appointment at Delany Dental Care but I was told it'd be a long road to recovery but I'd eventually be pain free. I go to Dr. DeLacey he always evaluates your needs and offer you the services that will help. When I was looking for an alternative to a partial several years ago he referred me to an oral surgeon who did implants. They worked together to coordinate putting the implants in and they are great. When I came in for a cleaning Dr DeLacey told me that they now do implants at their facility. Next time I need one I know where to go. Kathy, his dental hygienist, is always friendly, quick and professional. Also , gentle when cleaning your teeth. She also helps educate you on some of the newest products they have to help keep your teeth healthy and clean. He has hired a great group of people to work in his office. If you don't like going to a dentist this staff will make the experience an easy and a lot less scary. read more

Terrific place for Dental and TMJ healing...I've been a patient for 13 years. Not only did they fix my cavities very well, but the incredible relief from my jaw problems was unexpected. My jaw would sometimes lock up on one side, and Dr. Ira discovered that my bite was misaligned. I had the painless TENS treatment, wore a plastic appliance made for my mouth (like a retainer), and then my jaw was fixed, my bite was fixed, and my jaw pain was gone!! Better still, this treatment apparently also aligned my sinuses, because my life-long sinus congestion disappeared. AND, I no longer require a small shim my right shoe for which I had long ago been diagnosed as having needed "because" one leg was longer than the other -- which is no longer the case! Dr. Amidei and his staff are wonderful. In this past year, I needed quite a bit of work done to my teeth and my experience could not have been nicer. I needed three crowns and two root canals. The entire staff works to ensure comfort and ease during any procedure being done. I had a minor emergency while Dr Amidei was on vacation and Dr Shapira got me in the same day within the hour to check out what was going on. My two root canals were taken care of by Dr Swenson. Scheduling was quick and Dr Swenson is an outstanding endodontist. I honestly cannot think of one negative thing to say. The entire practice is dedicated to taking care of their patients. Not only did the TMJ treatment plan resolve my issues but, over the years, I've also received excellent dental care and had some cosmetic work done, which I am very pleased with. Dr Shapira and Dr Amedei are awesome. I had dental implants installed over 10 years ago and they're still going strong. After another dentist pulled my 3rd tooth, I had enough and went looking for better quality dental care. I certainly found it at Delany Dental! Not only do my implants look great but I can bite/chew anything without fear and implants contribute to my jawbone density (which is a great thing if you're planning on holding on to as many teeth as you can as you age). I'd also like to add they are the most pain free dentists I've ever been to. Not that I haven't had some discomfort but minimal compared to others.
