If I could leave -5 stars, I would. I have spoken to multiple eye doctors since having my PRK…read moresurgery with Dr. Vale and have been told that if you are directed towards monovision that you should be sent home with glasses that you wear for a minimum of a week to check that your eyes can adjust to it. He put a pair of goggles on me for less than two minutes in his office and said oh this is what you need. He went so far as to tell me it was the only type of eye surgery he could perform on me. I felt very pushed into the monovision surgery and have not been the same since. I have had nothing but problems since having the surgery over two years ago. After the surgery, he kept telling me "oh you need to keep your eyes moist because you have dry eyes" so he prescribed all kinds of drops and then told me that I had to take a ton of different vitamins. The vitamins were literally making me sick to my stomach, and I had to discontinue them. FYI I never had dry eyes in my life until the surgery. He also told me I would be fine within six days of my surgery because I was going out of the country on a trip three weeks after the surgery. I was still having problems seeing well into six months after my surgery. So needless to say most of my trip in Europe, I could barely see what I was looking at. Every time that I went in for an appointment, post surgery, I stressed that I was having nothing but problems with my eyesight and he would argue and tell me that I was seeing fine. I have not seen fine since the surgery was done over two years ago. In addition, I now have to wear glasses at night to drive because I cannot see at night. This was not an issue before the surgery. My eye for near vision is still blurry when looking at things close up. My distance eye can only maybe see 12 feet in front of me and everything beyond that is blurry. I write for a living and Coach sports. So needless to say, this is hindered me quite a bit in my career. I have already scheduled a consult with another doctor and they have told me I will likely have to have everything reversed. So now I have to pay another $4000 out-of-pocket to get my eyes fixed correctly. I would not suggest going to this doctor. He will likely come on here and argue with my review. However, since going to him, I have met six additional people who had the same surgery and have the same exact issues that I'm having. So this is not a one off issue. It really stinks that I now have to pay all this money out again to get my eyes corrected.

If you're considering LASIK, avoid Dr. Steven Vale. I went to him in 2018, and he essentially…read moreguaranteed I'd be seeing clearly within a week. I couldn't even drive after two months. He blamed my slow recovery on things like my weight, lack of fiber, or my husband smoking outside--everything was somehow my fault. His dismissive, arrogant attitude gave me such bad PTSD I'd have panic attacks just driving to his office. Years later, I finally got the courage to go in for a touch-up, only to be told my $1,200 extended care contract was void because I hadn't seen an eye doctor every year--even though this was around 2020, when no one was going anywhere. At the appointment, he talked over me, belittled me, and said my stress wasn't his problem. He even told me I should've sought mental health help if the surgery affected me that much. To make matters worse, my new optometrist said Dr. Vale had no business doing LASIK on my eyes given how bad they were. Now I have to get another surgery just to fix his mistakes. Dr. Vale is narcissistic and demeaning. I've never been so disrespected by a doctor in my life.

I was prepped for surgery and about to enter the ER when they asked about one of my medications and when was the last time I took it. It is a once-a-week dose and I last took it 6 days ago. They then tell me that I had to be off of it for 7 days and the anesthesiologist will not budge on it. I told them it would have been nice if they mentioned that in my pre-surgical instructions or even when they called me yesterday, especially since my doctor had sent over my pre-surgical exam and medication list on 1/2. Not only, did they mess up on that, they couldn't reschedule within the 30 days the pre-op exam was good for, so that would mean taking more time off work to get another pre-op physical, in addition to the 2 days i would need to take off work for the procedure and follow up. At this point, I told them to just cancel the entire thing and refund my money. If they can't get something as simple as pre-op instructions right, I don't want them messing with my vision. I would give 0 stars if it was an option.

So this is a split review. I came here last year (2025) and saw Dr. Olsinski and he was wonderful…read more I had some serious issues be cause I have MS and a severe convergence issue and he spent almost an hour with me tweaking everything to make sure that the prescription was perfect - more so than any other doctor I have dealt with. He did a great job and they were the best prescription I've had in ages. Friendly. Professional. A++++ across the board. And their staff is always super pleasant. Calm, soft spoken and professional. A+there as well. Now onto this year (2026.) Due to health issues and surgery scheduling there was a conflict and I had to as the owner of the practice, Dr. K. Complete difference. He's supposed to be one of the best and I'm sure had he done the exam, it would have been great. However it was a tech who did everything, and though he was sweet, he is a tech. I paid to see a doctor. I have a medical condition. They did this virtual thing and it didn't show that it was adding up and it's a convergence issue. The tech (RJ) not to worry the doctor would address it. Dr K did not address it. He did address my dry eye issue yes and he was pleasant. Yes . Talked about the previous prescription, said he would tweak it, but he didn't double check anything to make sure that it was correct. He didn't even put me through the basic part where they make you look through the machine and they do the "is a better or 2?" as they click back and forth. He just looked at my glasses and said that oh yeah, the prescription on the progressive one of them doesn't even have Progressive (yet I know that it does because I saw my optometrist who's local and I saw a neuro ophthalmologist and they all said the progressive was there). So that's number ONE. Number TWO, they claimed it was too LOW, and I'm like OKAY, fine but he didn't measure to see where it was going to go up HIGHER. There was no checking further a sibsaid. He just said he would tweak my script. But how can you tweak a script a year later without any new information??? I have been wearing glasses since I was seven. I know how this works and I have been seeing neuro-ophthalmologist and optometrist for the last few years since I was diagnosed. It just felt a wham bam thank you ma'am sort of thing compared to Dr. O, which was night and day. So I called back the very next day to just see you know could I come in for a different exam and at first they were like yeah, you can come in to see Dr. O - no issue. The administrative director (Leslie) said, why did they put you with Dr. K? (after I explained the situation.) I told her had been a scheduling conflict- found it strange that she would even say that. He's supposed to be one of the best. But because he was the owner of the practice I felt weird calling - I suspected there was going to be an issue but, I did it anyway and I was polite. He got on the phone and told him he stood by everything and I tried to explain my concerns and he talked right over me and then just said fine basically whatever I'll have them refunded and you can go somewhere else. Essentially throwing me out of the practice because I didn't agree with him. Never gave me the option of seeing Dr. O because he said he stood by everything he himself said. If he stood by everything, what's the harm in having another doctor look at it to agree with him? Especially one who had already seen me before? Ego? Or because Dr. O might now have agreed? But that's not even the point. How about just making the patient feel better to maintain a good doctor /patient relationship? I've literally gone to optometrist, opthamologist and neuro specialists for years. I know how proper exams are done. He didn't like what I had to say and behaved unprofessionally. They told me they wouldn't give me my money back, and I said well why did I pay the $60 the VR thing didn't work and it wasn't addressed. They said that was just paid for the way to avoid dilation. Seriously? That wasn't explained to me (by the tech). Had I known that that's what I was paying for, I would have just been dilated. I paid an extra $60 plus my co-pay so $70 only to in the end, have to go see another doctor. The insurance said that SYS isn't going to file the claim - they don't have to. The business got 70 bucks from me cash between misrepresented exam & copay they don't have to give back. Why would they, or file a claim when they didn't do an actual exam? They're basically getting $70 for 0 effort and no true medical care. But it was just Dr. K and I alone in the room. He owns the practice so my word against his. I am a disabled woman in her 40s who just had hip surgery and like I said, my blood pressure was in the toilet. That should have also been taken into consideration and it wasn't. I got poor service and they still If I could give Dr. O a five star himself. I would NEVER RECCOMEND Dr. K If Dr. O ever opened his own practice, I'd be there.
