Excellent service from the gents downstairs, they helped get my little one comfortable with the gear and opened a few versions of goggles to try them on. While not the cheapest equipment, they are certainly friendly and know what they're doing and they're quick. Had a really wonderful experience with the staff and service at this establishment. I called in for information on about having my bindings moved on my skis and the staff was very friendly and informative. The quote they gave me was $20-$40 less than other places and the time frame to complete the service was also quicker. Upon arrival, the parking lot was packed but I was able to find parking right away. As busy as they were that day, I was promptly tended to and out the door within a short period of time. To my surprise, I was told to come back in about one and a half hours. After grabbing lunch, I arrived back a little early but my skis were finished and ready for pickup. The ski boots fit into the bindings perfectly and I'm completely satisfied with the service. I would definitely recommend this establishment for your winter sports needs. read more

If you're in the market for a snowboard or skiis. This is a great place To come. You can also rent here. Which always is cheaper than at the mountain resort. The downside to this place is the staff. There's not many people here to help. And if there's someone being helped in front of you. It will take long. Sometimes really long. However. When they get to you. You'll find that the staff is super knowledgeable about equipment and all things related. They set my board up for me in a few quick minutes. read more

One of the best ski shops in the Poconos. Ran into a problem originally with installing Marker bindings on my kid's skis. Most shops refused but these guys happily installed them and my kid is using it every weekend this week. The selection at the shop is excellent though some of the prices bite but the selection is excellent for all types of ski gear and some of the supporting gear as well. Service shop is also top notch with rental equipment available in all shapes and sizes but also with various services on boots like blowing them out for those of us with wide feet and the most simple waxing and edging of skis before after and during the season. read more

Just a couple of minutes from Camelback, this place is very quick and easy to get ski rentals. The prices are fair, and their equipment is in good shape. The staff is friendly and helps make sure you've got the right boot size. Just because they're quick doesn't mean they're rushing you. They're open late (I think an hour after the slopes close) so you also don't feel like you need to rush back to return everything in time. read more

DO NOT SHOP/RENT HERE!!!! EMPLOYEE is a JUDGMENTAL BIGOT!!!! READ below I went in to the Loft on 3/2/19, to rent a pair of ski boots for the day. Upon approaching the counter, I disposed of a paper bag with very little garbage in it, that accumulated after a long drive from Queens, NY to Camelback. I specifically asked the man behind the counter "can i throw this away?" Before he decided to have a fit about my request, he hesitated. Huffing and puffing, and was visibly annoyed that I asked, and threw my garbage into his pale. He Questioned,..."do you have to throw it in there?" And "I can't take your garbage" (after it was in the pale). I then responded with "where else would you like for me to throw it? There's no pale outside, maybe you should put a pale out there". When he eventually helped me, I apologized for throwing my garbage into his pale. His response ? "Where do you leave your garbage when you shop at Bloomingdales? Do you leave it there?" Insulted and Shocked, I quickly responded with "I don't shop at Bloomingdales, it's too expensive for me." Needless to say, passing judgement on a customer, being rude, having no accommodations for disposing garbage,AND trying to convince me that I needed to rent more items because if I was to only rent boots, it's a "liability." Furthermore, upon returning my boots, the shop seemed to be "ran" by kids who were too concerned with talking to each other, rather than quickly and efficiently, getting customers in and out of the store. At this point, I don't how much more unprofessional employees and an establishment can be? The entire experience was a disappointment. The owner should talk to his/her employees about professionalism and the basics of customer service 101! The young girl in the front rolled her eyes and did almost a little dance because my husband purchased poles the day before, used them today and realized they were too long. He was sent to the counter where they told him that the guy who normally cuts them down wasn't there, but took them away anyway, and then we sat. He had the receipt and couldn't exchange them. A quick snowboard wax for $14, cheap rentals if you're going to Camelback, friendly staff, decent gear selection (I bought a North Face fleece headband to go under my snowboard helmet on a windy day before boarding for $20). There's a great upstairs section with more clothes and boards too, so definitely worth a trip up there! Also, found out that I can fit into kids snowboard jackets here *grin* so that was a great discovery! I would definitely come back if I was in the area! read more

They have a great selection of snow gear. I was in there in a pinch. I needed snow pants and I didn't want to pay a fortune. The nice sales associate got the hint and brought us to the cheap snow pants rack, I found a pair for 40 bucks that did the job, I was in the snow all day and never even felt it. Watch out though, they tried to charge me full price when it was clearly marked thirty percent off. I didn't want to call foul play but the sign for the discount was plastered all over the store. read more

I am beside myself this morning, being a local skier for 35 years this has always been the, go to ski shop for me and my family. both of my kids get new equipment every year, and we will be looking for a new shop as of today. Last week , I had a great experience with the service shop, so I decided to go upstairs and pickup a new set of skis. The rep, I believe his name was Ryan, was excellent. He prompted me to possibly demo 2 types of skis on the mountain. I took his recommendation. When i arrived at the demo shop, the selection was small and the staff was rude. After a day on the slopes, I decided to visit Ryan at the main shop. again, he was on his game and I decided to order a new pair of skis, which they did not have in stock. I told him, when I come back, I would try on boots as well, as per his recommendation. This morning, i went to the shop to pick up the skis and realized the end of the year demo sale was happening, so i went to the main mountain to see if I could grab a second pair for a good price, since I was on the fence between 2 brands. When I walked through the door of the shop and started looking on the shelf, a man walked down the stairs and rudely told me to "get out!" he then followed up with "how did you get in here" I replied "good morning to you too, I used the door, it was open". he replied oh were closed. I asked when do you open? and he rudely tapped the window sticker with the hours stating a 7:30 open. It was 7:21. After a few minutes, another man came to the door and said go around to the other side. When I did, the rude employee was bringing the demo skis outside to a tent, when i went inside at 7:28 I was given a ticket with a number 8 on it, (So much for first come first serve). I overheard the staff saying, they would be calling numbers at 8:30 for the demo sale, and they will also be allowing people to rent them first. The lack of communication and professionalism in the staff was enough for me to walk away. To sum this up, i decided to leave and purchase nothing, so today they loose $550-new skis $350- new boots and $?- demo skis. the losses will also continue for years to come, the hundreds,sometimes thousands of dollars I spend here every year will go to another mom and pop shop. As a consumer I believe in accountability and integrity. If your core business is sales and service, then your employees should practice good friendly communication skills. After all, we are spending hard earned money. This review is based on the purchase of a Specialized HardRock mountainbike in fall 2010. (Skip to the midpoint of this review for my overall impression) I'd ridden road bikes for years, but this was my first mountainbike. The Loft was advertising end of season sales so I stopped in. ----- Store Appearance: The store is laid out well, and at least in the Fall the floorspace was half bikes and half clothing for winter sports. Lots of winter sports equipment was lined up along the walls, which I assume will take the place of the bikes when the weather turns colder. There was a very large repair and customization area, so it was clear that tuning and other customer services are an important part of the business. Everything was clean and nicely laid out. ----- Salesperson: I probably knew just enough about mountain bikes to be dangerous, so the salesman tried to answer my questions, but I needed a lot of education about MTB features. The salesman answered my questions, but didn't really steer me to or away from anything. One particular bike caught my eye, and after a few more questions I decided to make the purchase. It was simple and straightforward, with serial numbers being logged, etc. ----- Post-Purchase: That afternoon I took it out on the streets of my subdivision for about 15 minutes and discovered it was just the wrong size - too small. It wasn't so obvious except when pedaling hard up a hill. I wish the salesperson had suggested actually riding it in the parking lot before buying (instead of a bit of back and forth on the pedals in the showroom) although I don't know if that would have revealed that size matters when pedaling hard uphill. Yeah, my fault too for not at least pushing for a parking lot ride I guess. ----- Return process: The sales receipt said there was a 2-week return for in-store credit policy, so I drove back that same afternoon and talked with the salesman (but didn't have the bike carrier on the car anymore so I couldn't bring the bike back.) Together the salesman and I picked out the next size larger bike and he set it aside for me to come back the next day to swap out the first bike. The discount wasn't as much on the larger bike, but it was still a good bit lower than MSRP. ++++++ Here's where it gets interesting. I came back the next day and brought in the original bike, but the saleman I worked with the day before was off. The manager came over and said he couldn't take it back, it had been ridden. Most people I know would go ballistic at this point. ----- But I saw it a bit differently. I saw it as a sign of integrity - many stores would just wipe off the dust and put the bike back on the showroom floor. I had only ridden it for 15 minutes, there were no marks or anything on it - who would know? But this manager had integrity and was looking out for his future customers - that's a good sign. We discussed it a bit more, and he begrudgingly agreed to let me swap out the bike for the one that the salesman and I picked out the night before. This was another sign of integrity - standing behind his policies, even if in the short run they may mean less profit since he felt he could no longer sell the first bike as new. ----- It wasn't a fun experience; the manager's demeanor was somewhat gruff. A few days later he gave me the eye and laid a bit of visual guilt trip on me by standing by the old bike and wiping dust off it when I stopped by to look at getting a new helmet. I wish that part weren't so. But never-the-less, I saw that the first bike was not sitting on the showroom as a new bike - it was off to the side without a price. He's a man of his word. ----- And that's where the values come in - not only did I get a good price on a bike (pricing value), I also feel comfortable that the shop will not rip off its customers by mis-representing what it sells. And that's a kind of value that I really respect, and the reason I will continue to shop at the Loft. read more

Greeted by a friendly staff at the service counter. The process took 15 mins. Total cost and tax less than $30. In and out no problem and friendly service. Recommended. read more

We've visited a few ski shops in the Camelback area, and this one seems to be the biggest and best in the area. Large selection of outerwear, and accessories downstairs from all the top brands, including The North Face, which seems hard to find at some of the smaller shops. Upstairs they have a lot ski and snowboard equipment, again from a wide variety of top brands. Prices are good too, and they even had a few attractive ski package deals. read more

A real local gear shop! There is a lot the internet is great for but when you need to feel gear first hand to buy it smart, this is the place! These guys have great gear and knowledge. I've been buying gear for skiing and mountain biking from these guys for years and they always know all about the product and can help steer me in the right direction. Last season we got my wife some ski boots. This is about as personal of a purchase as you can make. Figuring out how to fit a bony foot into a chunk of plastic and have it be comfortable is not easy. The tech asked all the right questions starting with: what are you going to use them for (as in how do you ski) and how often do you ski and so on. He then recommended a few models based on his understanding of how my wife skied. After trying a couple and standing around in the best pair for a while (because they might feel great at first but if they don't fit OUCH). She had her boots. We then went downstairs to get her skis adjusted to fit the new boots and we were ready to rock and roll. Great Shop! read more

AWESOME PLACE They have such variety whether you are looking for hats, gloves or new skis/snowboards. It's 2 floors. The first floor is filled with apparel and the second floor is dedicated to skis/snowboards/boots and poles. The salesmen really know their stuff and they are so attentive. I was looking for new skis and they helped me out and explained everything. They also have great bundle prices (skis, bindings, poles and boots). For ski prices around the area, they have some of the best prices. I'll definitely be coming back for more ski apparel. read more

I bought 3 ski helmets, a pair of ski boots, and a pair of ski socks from this store today. Besides we rented 4 sets of ski packages. The store staff was friendly and helpful. The ski boots were a little too tight - my toes were getting slightly squeezed but the salesperson suggested this was a good thing; the boots would invariably stretch a little with use, and a snug fit was better than a slightly loose fit. I walked around the store in them, they felt okay, so I took them. Unfortunately, on the mountain, the shoes became quite painful. As I came down the bunny slope, my toes pressed even harder against the inside of the boots and were getting painfully squished. Turning was especially painful. Doubly unfortunately, my helmet was pressing too hard against my ears. I had noticed this in the store too but the discomfort had seemed minor at the time. On the mountain, the prolonged squeezing of my ears became quite painful. In the evening, when we went to return the ski packages, I wanted to return my ski boots and helmet for store credit. The answer was a flat no. If the boots and helmet had been used even once, they could not be returned. While every store is free to set its own rules, as a customer, this did not come across as a particularly friendly policy to me. I am sure this policy works for the store, and it might even help people overall as the store might be able to offer lower prices since it is not suffering any losses from returns. But the policy certainly doesn't work for me. The store could have offered to apply a restocking fee and take the equipment back. They could have offered to meet me in the middle but they chose not to make an attempt. In any case, their reply to my request was a flat no. I do wonder what their 2-week return policy is for then. Is it only for people who might later change their mind because they did not like the color of their boots and so on, and therefore come back to return it with the tags on and the equipment in the original box? I will continue to rent from this store. I might even purchase some minor knick-knacks from here, but I sure won't be making any more major purchases from here. As a beginner skier, I have also discovered today that judging whether some equipment is a good fit based on walking around in the store just does not work for me. I think I and my family will stick to REI in the future. read more
