Went to them in April--really liked the Dentist (Johnson)--thought we were all set until office staff said insurance appv'l process will take 5-6 wks. Week 4 I checked in and was condescended with a speech of it taking 5-6 weeks. It's September--my insurance has since changed & now have to start over--was reminded by the referring dentist ofc that I'm due for my cleaning. Sadly, I can't do that until my tooth is extracted. POINT: This ofc doesn't care. I have NEVER heard of 5-6 wk apv'l process. Referring dentist had no issues. They're obviously too busy to need new clients nor care about them. read more

Strange story. I went to Dr. Johnson's office on 1/15/18 to get some Botox and filler. Everything was great. Friendly staff, Dr. Johnson was friendly, and very informative. I was surprised though at how quickly he did the Botox injections. It took him about, honestly, maybe 10 or so seconds. Poke, poke, poke, poke, and poke. I even expressed my surprise at how quickly he injected it. Usually it takes a minimum of 15 minutes or more. But I figured, this guy's a pro. As the week went by, I realized I wasn't seeing much effect, and really none at all. I had already scheduled a follow-up appointment, at his request, for the following week. I called ahead to let them know that I had not seen any effect, even after 4 days. I figured I'd give it a full seven, but still nothing. Flash forward to a week later. Again friendly staff, friendly doctor. I told him my concerns, and he proceeded to explain how the process works. I closed my eyes thinking, "Here we go. He's going to tell me that I can't expect such dramatic results, etc." He immediately turned. He said, "Are you tuning me out?" and I responded that I thought he was going to tell me that I was expecting too much, or something to that effect. I've had Botox before, and the results were visible. Subtle, but visible. I hadn't even finished my sentence, when he abruptly told me to leave. He said he would refund my money, and that if I wasn't willing to listen to what he had to say, I could leave. I was shocked. All I did was close my eyes. I didn't roll me eyes, or sigh loudly, or cut him off mid-sentence. I was preparing myself for disappointment. That was it. I may have jumped to conclusions. But we've all had experiences where we pay good money for nothing. That's what I thought would happen this time. I lived with a bipolar roommate, and that's what this reminded me of. A sudden change from friendly to hostile. With that all being said, I guess I'm better off. I'd hate to think that he would overdo it out of spite. But that was my experience. I was stunned. I had my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Johnson. What an amazing experience. I was scared of the anesthesia but he made me feel totally comfortable and I felt 100% fine the next day. They even called me the day after the removal to check on me (how awesome!). I would recommend this office/dr to anyone! read more

The staff was very friendly and made sure myself and my 2yr old were comfortable while we waited for my husband's procedure to be done. The office was clean and well kept. Rudest doctor I have ever seen. Maybe he was having an exceptionally bad day but he was condisending and I would never go back. He wasted my time. I waited four weeks to get in was very excited to address my TMJ problem. I come from a long line of doctors and dentists in my family and I cant imagine anyone of them treating a new patient like I was treated today. Front desk was not welcoming, cold and then after waiting 50 minute ( i got lost on the way in and was 10 minutes late so didn't worry about the wait) The nurse was also cold and not really friendly. Still no worries but then Dr. Johnson came in and Not sure what set him off but he talked down to me and was on the defense right away. He blew up out of no where and told me to have the procedure done somewhere else. I was shocked as I didn't in any way provok this. He told me to get out and "Oh yeah, there wouldn't be a charge" over his shoulder. Weirdest thing ever. read more

I ran across this site for reviews and saw all these 5 star reviews for Dr. Chris Johnson from Advanced Faces and I am shocked!! Am I the only one to have a negative (horrid is actually a better word) experience with this surgeon? I was referred to Dr.Johnson last June. I needed three molars extracted. Two on the left side and one on the right. I saw him in his Leesburg office.Upon arriving I noticed the office was very nice and very clean, I had a bad experience with a dentist as a child so I do have a fear of dentists but everyone was so nice and friendly they helped me to feel comfortable right away. Dr. Johnson went over my options for the extractions including sedation. He also suggested pulling all three at one time for which I told him I would have to think about that. I opted for just a numbing with Novocaine because I didn't know if I would be able to find someone to drive me following the sedation and besides I didn't see it as being that big of a deal. I have had plenty of dental work done before including extractions and it is pretty much a routine procedure that doesn't take very long at all. In fact, it takes longer to get numb than it takes to actually pull a tooth. So, given my trust and comfort level with Dr. Johnson and his staff, I scheduled my appointment.for the extraction(s). When I arrived for the appointment for the extraction (I had decided on only one) I was very nervous, as I always am with a dentist. After taking me back to the room, his assistant was wonderful in helping me to relax. Dr.Johnson came in soon after and the first thing he did was give me the shot of Novocaine. This is when everything went downhill. The first thing I noticed (which at the time I thought was so awesome that I commented on it to his assistant) was in giving me the shot he only gave me one injection that took about 1-2 seconds. That was it. He was finished with step one. Whoa!! Seriously?? The first thing I thought was "This man must have access to some excellent drugs!" Every dentist I have ever been to gives shots on both the front and back sides of the tooth (sometimes 3 or 4 shots) and always holds my jaw while shaking it; I guess to get the medicine spread around. I don't really know why they do that; I have never asked. But this dentist only had to give one short shot. I thought that was awesome because nobody likes those shots in the mouth. So he has already left the room to wait for his magic medicine to take effect and I am laying there also waiting for the medicine to take effect. Hmmm... this is strange. Usually I start feeling the numbness before the dentist is completely out of the room and I feel nothing. I don;t mean I am numb and feel nothing. I mean I don't feel the medicine doing anything. I feel no different than I did before I got here. As I lie there nothing is happening. I am thinking to myself that I sure hope this gets numb before he comes back in here. Still nothing! I knew it was too good to be true. I am going to have to get another shot. He finally comes through the door and walks over to me and tells me to open up. He reaches in. Now I am thinking that he is getting ready to touch my jaw or tongue or somewhere inside my mouth to test for numbness, as all dentists have done in the past. The next thing I know he has latched onto the tooth and twisting. I yell out... partly in pain and partly to let him know that I am not numb. He gets a better grip on the tooth and twist some more. I yell louder and kinda shove his hand out of my mouth. Before he has the chance to dive back in I tell him that it hurts, I am not numb and that I can feel everything he is doing. He tells me, "No you don't. That is just pressure you are feeling." I open my mouth to protest and he dives back in. For a split second I thought to myself that maybe he was right. Maybe I am so nervous that I just think I feel it. He latches on again and HOLY CRAP AND EVERYTHING THAT IS REAL!!!!! That is NOT pressure.That is pure unadulterated PAIN!! I yell and I shove his hands out again and I tell him again that it hurts and that I am not numb. And again he tells me that I am wrong. He dove back in. I am trying with everything in me to block this pain that this man is imposing on me. I tried to think of happy places. I tried to fantasize about things that would scare the hell out of the devil himself. Nothing worked. I am crying out loud. Actually sobbing. Tears are rolling down my cheeks. I stood it as long as I could before pushing his hands back again. Now I can tell he is getting aggravated. He just wants me to lay there and let him finish. I try to tell myself that it is almost over. It can't be much longer. I have got to endure this just a few more minutes. With my face wet with my tears and my knees pulled half way up to my chest I slowly and reluctantly opened my mouth and he went back to work. I can hear some kind of tool. Not sure what it is. I had a corrective jaw surgery done by Dr. Johnson, and I am very happy with the result. Definitely a 5 star doctor. I had the surgery on April and my lower jaw is still in healing process now and it's healing beautifully. It looks very natural also, result is better than I have expected. I have got lots of compliments from friends. Dr. Johnson is a truly amazing Doctor, compassionate and great bed side manner, very gentle. AND he's an artist. Highly recommended! read more
