I am writing this review with mixed feelings. To be clear, the actual dental care and treatments my partner and I have received have always been satisfactory. My concerns are not with the quality of the care itself, but with the patient service, communication, and business policies, which have been deeply disappointing. The first issue was a significant lack of communication. I had originally chosen Clermont Family Dentistry specifically for a highly-reviewed dentist (here on Google Maps). I was very surprised to arrive for an appointment only to discover that my dentist no longer worked in that clinic and had moved to a different area. I was never notified of this change and was suddenly seeing a new provider I knew nothing about. This felt dismissive of my choice and continuity of care. More recently, my partner had a difficult experience. He had an 8 AM appointment but was called in for a mandatory, last-minute work emergency late the night before and was unable to make it. We understand the clinic has a $50 no-show fee policy. A similar, unavoidable work issue happened once before (about six months ago), and the fee was kindly waived. This time, however, when he called to explain the situation, the office was completely inflexible. The receptionist stated that this was the policy and that my partner could not be rescheduled until the $50 fee was paid, pending a discussion with the dentist. After I called to complain about this lack of understanding for a genuine emergency, the office did call my partner back. They agreed to waive the $50 fee, but only on the condition that he pay for the entire rescheduled appointment in advance. This "solution" feels punitive and deeply transactional, especially given that we have excellent insurance and have always paid our bills on time without any financial issues. It feels completely uncalled for. I understand that this is a business, but in healthcare, patients hope for a degree of human understanding. Between the multiple aggressive pre-appointment text reminders about fees, the lack of communication about provider changes, and this rigid approach to a legitimate conflict, it unfortunately feels like this clinic prioritizes revenue over patient relationships and care. I truly hope the management will reconsider how they treat their patients. UPDATE BASED ON THE RESPONSE FROM THE CLINIC: The nature of the reply, with its strong focus on business costs rather than our patient experience, is at the heart of my concern. I have always valued the quality of the dental care at the clinic, which is why this disconnect I felt--where business operations seem to take precedence over the patient relationship--was so disappointing. My concern wasn't to debate the existence of the policy or that we had signed it. It was about the lack of compassion and flexibility shown by staff during what was a genuine, last-minute work emergency. This, combined with the subsequent request to pre-pay for the treatment in advance, is what felt transactional. It was especially jarring given we have been patients for multiple years, have excellent insurance, and have always been in good financial standing. I also feel unheard because the other key parts of my feedback weren't addressed in your reply. My original note raised a separate, significant concern about communication: I was never notified that my chosen dentist had left the practice and arrived for an appointment to find a new provider entirely. This major point was unfortunately not acknowledged. Furthermore, I had previously provided in-person feedback on the impersonal, fee-focused tone of the automated appointment reminders (the "10-minute grace period" warning, etc.), which also adds to this feeling. For years I have hated going to the dentist, not out of fear of the pain; but, because every dentist I have ever went to gave me the feeling like they wanted to do work that just didn't need to be done just to max out my insurance. I did a lot of research on local dentists. In reading through reviews kept coming back to Clermont Family Dental. I couldn't believe all the great reviews I kept seeing. It felt too good to be true. I started experiencing some dental pain and knew it couldn't wait much longer. What I quickly learned is that, yes they are that good. The entire staff has been amazing. I didn't walk out of there with an exorbitant dental plan that would take me decades to pay for. Dr. Ortiz was very detailed in his review and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. He recommended a deep cleaning and scaling which I had heard could be painful. Boy was I wrong. During my first session, the hygienist stopped to take what I thought was a break. I asked, "are you starting the scaling next?" to which she replied, "nope, we are done"! I was shocked. I didn't feel a thing more did I later that night. I was actually looking forward to my next visit! What is even better is my pain has gone away. The entire staff from the front desk to the Doctors truly care about their patients. They want you to be satisfied with your experience there. You can tell they care about the success of the business and I truly believe that's because they all work for great Doctors. If you have any fear or have had a negative experience like I have in the past about visiting the dentist, this is the place you need to visit! By far the best dentist office that I've visited. I typically dread going to the dentist much like the average person, but this office makes it a pleasant experience. From the front office staff to the Dr's and everyone in between this office works together seemlessly. I've had the pleasure of meeting both Dr. Buechele and Dr. Ortiz and they both have incredible bedside manner. You can really tell that everyone in this office works with pride and puts in every effort to make your visit enjoyable. The office is always clean and well organized. I personally reached out to Clermont Family Dentistry, because my husband chipped a tooth while on a business trip. The chipped tooth had a jagged edge on it that kept embedding into his tongue. I called to see if he could get some sort of an emergency appointment either late Friday evening or Saturday morning. I explained the earliest Friday he could get there was about 5:30-6:00pm because he was going to be in an airplane. I was told they an appointment mid afternoon Friday, but I told him at the time they suggested he was going to be mid flight on his way home. The receptionist said that was the best they could do. I asked if they knew of another dentist that had Saturday hours and the receptionist responded "we don't keep track of what our competition does". Again, I personally had this interaction while trying to get my husband an emergency appointment. The offer of an appointment at about 3pm on Friday while my husband was midair, while it was an appointment wasn't shouldn't have been offered up. My previous post was contested by the business and was removed because I wasn't an actual customer. I ask that this post remain. 5 Stars - Yes! Highly recommend Dr Buechele and his staff. I was just there for my third appt after having moved to FL 18 mos ago. I find the front ofc staff is always friendly and efficient. They supplied me with a plan of work to be done as well as the estimated cost to me after insurance. Dr. Buechele, his assistant(s) and hygienist Linda thoroughly explain the procedure they are going to do, and ask if I have any questions. They're also very conscientious about asking if you're doing okay during the process. Dr Buechele just set my new crown and it is a perfect fit and color. You can tell they are a busy office but I was seen on time and Dr Buechele and his assistant Tina spent time with me and I never felt rushed. I called for an emergency appointment to get my tooth looked at. They looked at it and were actually very nice. They sent me to another office where I was told they would be able to get me in and fix it. To help the process along I was told by the assistant that they would get me an emergency appointment and they would get all the work done. I was thrilled until I arrived at the appointment to find out they didn't know it was an emergency. They didn't even have my X-rays from the Clermont Family office. So I had to pay more just to have them redo everything. The best part they said they didn't have time to fix anything. I picked this place because of the star rating review. I made a great choice! After relocating to Florida I had to find a new dentist. (Not easy considering I had gone to my last dentist for 35 years!) The office is welcoming. My first impression is the staff seem really happy there. Lots of pleasant interactions between coworkers. It's refreshing. Every time I've gone I feel I've gotten good service. My first visit to this office was in March of this year. It was just for a simple cleaning that I've been getting twice a year for 40 years. Although I had no pain or symptoms - they told me I needed to see a specialist. I went to the person they recommended and they told me I needed to have a procedure that would cost $12,000.00 out of pocket. I could not pay that amount and questioned how a simple cleaning could lead to such a huge financial commitment. We agreed to postpone this until 2020 as it was not an urgent need. I called Clermont Family Dentistry today to schedule a cleaning before the end of the year and was advised they would need permission from the referral dentist before they could perform a cleaning. While I appreciate the concern, I like to retain the ability to make informed health care decisions for myself. I don't need strong armed into having a procedure I am not ready for - just to get basic dental care in the interim. They chose to withhold basic dental hygiene until I undergo the extreme procedure. I don't feel good about the responses or technique used by this practice. I've read the bullying responses directed at other patients who did not leave good reviews and it solidifies my decision to seek more professional care. I play an active role in my health care decisions and will do business with professionals who respect and work with that. I have good insurance and will spend my health care dollars with professional, respectful establishments. I have an appointment for a basic cleaning elsewhere. They understand my situation and are willing to work to keep me healthy until I can afford the 12k out of pocket. FYI - I have not been diagnosed, nor am I a likely candidate for oral cancer (per your referral and your tests). Is insinuating this a HIPPA violation???Irresponsible deflecting and horrendous scare tactics are a deplorable way to take your lack of ownership and patient care out of the spotlight. No one mentioned pain or discomfort- just a lack of patient respect. People beware and do your research. Horrible experience. I moved from Orlando to Clermont and I am currently 18 weeks pregnant. I called them 2 months ago to schedule a simple cleaning appointment and establish as a patient from my old dentist. I told the lady on the phone who made the appointment that I was pregnant and that I can't get any X-rays done. She told me to get a doctors note from my OB stating this which I did. I spoke to them today and they are telling me that they can't do a cleaning without x rays even if I'm pregnant. This was never informed to me. Mind you I have a doctors note stating this is not possible. I waited 2 months for an appointment that won't even happen. They gave me the option of getting x rays from the old dentist I went to from two years ago but that they can't guarantee that would work. This is something that should have been disclosed to me when I made the teeth cleaning appointment. I wouldn't have been waiting two months for nothing. When I asked for the person that made my appointment it turns out the person no longer works there. How convenient. Horrible experience will never recommend this place. read more

Don't be fooled by the 5-star DAMAGE CONTROL reviews! Read here for an HONEST review from an actual patient. I received good dental care. The dentist was great and the hygienists were very professional and helpful. However, the office staff ended up costing me a lot of money by telling me that a procedure I was having was covered by insurance. However, this person did not follow the proper procedure for receiving pre-approval from my insurance company. After submitting the bill, insurance denied the claim. This would have been prevented if a pre-approval was requested and I could have made an informed decision about my treatment options & the associated costs had proper procedure been followed. Unfortunately, this sloppy work is costing me $900 out of pocket. The office staff then told me that the dentist would not submit justification for treatment with the insurance company to support an appeal (and I quote) "because we don't do that here." I sent a certified letter to the office manager and/or owner detailing how all of this unfolded and requested they submit justification for an appeal. I let them know how incredibly unhappy I was that this all transpired as it was costing me precious dollars. I included my name, phone number, mailing address, etc. I received no phone call, no letter in the mail, nothing... except a new bill for $900. Apparently the doctor did submit a justification (of which I never saw a copy or any communication whatsoever from the dentist's office). They apparently weren't concerned with an extremely unhappy patient. They could have at least reached out and said "I regret that we had this incident, we'd be happy to see what we can do to work with your insurance company" but all I got was crickets until the new bill arrived in the mail. All prior dealings up until this billing incident had been pleasant... but they would rather wash their hands of an otherwise happy patient over a billing matter apparently. Be forewarned. Ask them if they have submitted a formal pre-approval before you agree to any work or it may cost you big bucks and then they will cast you aside. My intent is not to trash the dentist - he was great. In fact, I held off on writing the details of my situation - I wanted to see if they would try to make things right and, if they did, I never would have put up a review at all. My intent is to inform other consumers to protect their pocket books from this kind of thing. Maybe at least another office would communicate with you or at least act interested in coming to an amicable resolution. Good luck! read more
