UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE- Im very confused by all the positive reviews. Maybe they didn't work with the same guy we had to deal with. We got a new car and the locksmith place we went to for our previous car was closed so we found Advanced lock & key online and it looked promising because of the good reviews. BOY WERE WE WRONG. The key that the guy copied would not work- so he was using the palm of his hand to try to punch it in. WHEN OBVIOUSLY IT WASN'T FITTING. I was in the car being physically rattled by how hard he was punching my car. I was taking a video of the car for my friends and it is CRAZY how loud the punching was in the background. We have been to several lock smiths before and NEVER had them try to punch the key in. My dad is the most polite and soft spoken person and like any rational human being was worried about the force he was using on our new car when clearly the key wasn't right. and the lock smith had the AUDACITY to say to him " Bro you're getting on my nerves- I've been doing this for 30 years". Now, I have worked in the customer service industry and know when a customer is crossing the line. My dad was in NO WAY crossing the line or even raising his voice to match the lock smith's loud and aggressive tone. and if you have been doing this for 30 years, why can't you figure out how to copy the key? He went back and forth 4 times to try to modify the key that wasn't working and each time he would come back and try to punch it in again. We kept trying to leave and he kept saying he's going to try again that he has experience and that he can get it. We we tired of his rude and unprofessionalism behavior- we grabbed our key from him and left. read more

One of the most efficient transactions I've experienced in a long time. Locked my keys in my truck. Called to schedule an appointment, the tech later called me to let me know he was running a little behind schedule. Guy shows up only three minutes late, apologizes for the delay, then proceeds to have my doors unlocked in under a minute. I wasn't actually sure if the keys were hidden in the truck or lost somewhere else, but Advanced had a second tech on standby waiting to come out and magically recreate my ignition key if need be. After the day-long personal tragedy of trying to sort all this out, I was frankly shocked at how Advanced Lock & Key just kind of swooped in and saved the day. Highly recommended. read more

I came here to replace a broken Honda key. "Tis the season", the clerk replied. Lots of Honda keys are breaking, due to poor design. I was interested in separating the clicker fob from the ignition key, such as my Jeep key is separate from the Jeep clicker. Looks like Honda doesn't work that way. The clerk did offer an "improved" key with better structural support. It was not as cheap as I though it would be -- hey, I am a bargain hunter at heart. Beware of Advanced Lock & Key in boise. This people are so shady, the said they could remove a broken key from my car's door and instead they pushed the lock all the way in to the door, leaving a hole! We tried to work with them since Sunday, even agreed to pay them $100 to fix it, since they said the only way was to remove the door, and that they were giving us a discount. They said they would stop by my place on Sunday to fix it, then they said it was snowing and that they needed daylight. Fine, then he asked us to drop the car today, fine, I took time off of work and dropped the car. He said it would be ready by 6 pm. We called at 5:30 to check on the car, and we were told they hadn't even started working on it! But he said he will call us back once ready. He finally called us about 6:40 this evening saying he can't do it now because it's too dark. I told them this was unacceptable and maybe we could renegotiate the price since I've waisted time off from work, and will be without a car tomorrow. They guy lost it, and started yelling on the phone and hang up! I called back and he said he wouldn't talk to me, all this while he still has my car!!! I called again and he said to come get my car and left my keys on my front tire. Horrible business. Please save your money and go else where. read more

I locked my key in my car, I called this vendor and received lock out service which was timely. Lock out service was $49.00. However, I went to the business a short time later and requested and paid for a FOB and a door key. When I arrived home, I discovered the door key would not fit in the lock. I had to return to the business to have them complete the job that I paid for. When I arrived, the tech said that he had tried the key in the door lock and that it fit; however, he declined my offer to try the key in the lock and proceeded to recut the key. I requested some compensation for my time to return to the business so they could finish the job. Apparently, they thought that i was joking, as they laughed. My time to have to return to the business for a completion of the job not done, is worth at least as much as the $49 they charged to come to me for a service. read more

This is the company to call when you have a key issue. My husband lost his car key (don't ask) and we needed a replacement. The dealership wanted $300+ to replace it. We called the key guy and he was at our house in an hour and we spent about $100 for two keys and a key fob. If I could give 6 stars I would. Needed a couple of new style Kwikset key barrels reversed and it was done in 5 minutes for a minimum charge. Friendly and knowledgeable! FYI every repair person that comes to your house will charge a service fee. That is how a business stays afloat. I'm not gonna say they are a bad company because they tryed to get my key programmed. Although unsuccessful they still spend over 2 hours trying which I appreciate and paid them for their time and attempt of service. My only complaint is this: It was clear how frustrated they were that they couldnt figure out the issue. (My car is to blame, not them) understandably so. I still however paid for their service. So I too was left frustrated and keyless. And $200 wasted. Not to say that it's their fault. But we both got a raw deal in the end. So their obvious frustration over the deal left me feeling a little perturbed. As if they wasted their time. But they didnt. I still paid them. So a little more customer service and politeness would have gone a long way. Because after all... I am the one who is out 200$. Not them. But I still treated them w kindness and respect. Advanced Lock & Key (Shawn) did an awesome job with our home project. I had placed a call to the main number from their website and Kirk called me back promptly. He gave me a quote for the work I asked to be done and assigned the project to Shawn to come out within two days of my call. Shawn came out on time and ready to start the project. After a good discussion on what we wanted to achieve, Shawn made some suggestions that accomplished the same goal for less cost. Shawn has over 20 years of experience for the services we wanted done so we went with his suggestions. We had new locks installed and had our existing locks re-keyed to the new locks. Shawn was great. He has the knowledge, skills, work ethic, and all the tools to get the job done right. Shawn did all the work for the amount as quoted, on time, and as we had discussed before he started. This is how it's supposed to be done, and I'm very pleased with my decision to go with Advanced Lock & Key. Then after I was already in a rush he took so long to do everything and wasn't prepared to take my payment so I had to wait on him. One time bad experience? I called at 11:30pm because I got locked out of my house and they quoted me 45 mins. After an hour I called back and they said nobody got the memo and nobody was sent out to my residence. So they at that point quoted me 10-15 mins and sure enough, a guy showed up. He was dressed totally unprofessionally and didn't even greet us when we met, he just walked up to the house and started working. It took him over 20 mins to unlock the house. By the time everything was said and done, it took them two and a half hours to get to my house and unlock it. Unfortunately, me (and everyone around me) seems to have the misfortune of locking our keys in cars, buildings or losing them forever. We've had Advance help us on several occasions, from our baby locking himself in a hot car (I called 911 & Advance and the locksmith company arrived first!!), to rekeying our residence and business, to helping with rekeying locks we've lost the keys to. Most recently, yesterday October 16th, these guys came out and help a co-worker unlock his car. The employee was so helpful and had a good sense of humor, which helped lighten the mood since I'm sure it can be a tiny bit embarrassing when you do that. read more

Ok I don't normally write reviews, I only do if I feel like a business is no less than outstanding. And I can say advanced lock and key is by far outstanding. I locked my keys in my car at a grocery store so I called a lock company and they told me it would be about 20 minutes and $55. So I decided to try 1 more company and called Advanced who told me they would be there in less than 15 minutes and the charge was $44. They were so quick to get there and so fast getting my car open.
