Dregansky was , by far , one of the best primary care physicians I ever had. And although I miss the guy , I'm more than thankful for one of the doctors who replaced him. Also, it seems the phone is only answered at the convenience of whoever is supposed to be answering them. I had a truly awful experience trying to reach someone there today. I called about 8:10 and got the recorded message that says the office is open 8-5 on Monday and that I should call back during regular business hours. I called back about 10 minutes later and got the same message, during what was supposed to be "regular business hours". This is not the first time I've had this experience with them. Then I used my break at work to call again about 10:30, and was on hold for about 5 minutes before someone answer and said, "I'm with a patient, can you hold?" (isn't that what I'd been doing?), and was put back on hold. Two minutes later, I was hung up on. I called back and again was on hold for about seven minutes, when the same woman picked up the phone and said, "I'm with a patient, can you hold?". I told her no, I've already been holding for over 10 minutes and was hung up on once, and I don't want to hold any longer. She responded that she was with a patient and again asked me to hold. Again, I said no. She repeated, "I'm with a patient and I have several calls ahead of yours", to which I responded, "Then why did you pick up the phone?" and she put me back on hold. I held for seven or eight minutes longer and nobody ever came back to the phone. Finally I had to hang up. I called again about an hour later, and finally got through to someone. I explained that I was calling to check on a prescription refill, which was another debacle. It used to be, you could call this office and they would phone in a prescription for you. Now, you have to call the pharmacy yourself and ask them to send in a refill request. My request was received yesterday, however, apparently nobody had time to review it. I asked how long it would take and was told that the person who would approve the request is out today. I asked if someone else could approve and was told no. I am disgusted and will be looking for a new doctor's office with better service.

You get at least…read more30-45 mins at each appt. he really thinks outside the typical medical industry box to actually help you. I spent years suffering from anxiety. The attacks got worse. Other Drs would put me on more and more anxiety/ antidepressants. Dr. Neilsen went the extra mile to look at my hormones and thyroid function and found I had an under active thyroid. He took the time to fine tune and tweak the dose that was right for me. Guess what?... No more anxiety. All went away. He is incredibly knowledgable. He can be very opinionated and even come across harsh in his opinions but he is very passionate about what he does. I would highly recommend him.

When I raised concerns about elevated liver enzymes, I was told to "lose weight" with little explanation or follow-up. I also felt repeatedly pushed toward joining a gym despite explaining financial limitations, which came across as out of touch rather than supportive or realistic. The office staff also made things more frustrating, with phone interactions often feeling unhelpful and dismissive. Overall, I felt I had to advocate too hard just to be heard. Patients deserve to feel listened to and given thoughtful, individualized care. I've since switched providers outside the ProMedica system and wish I had done so sooner.

Finding a family doctor with whom you can develop a personal relationship over time is a rarity…read morethese days, but these are the physicians I trust most. Dr. Michael Neiswander has been our family doctor for 30+ years. My wife, daughter and I trust him implicitly because we each feel we have that elusive personal connection. He asks intelligent investigative questions, then actually listens to your answers before jumping to a diagnosis. Because he knows us and our health histories, when we come in for routine wellness checks our discussions are a continuation of past healthcare visits, as opposed to the first-time meeting (again) feeling you get with many physicians. And somewhere along the way Dr. Neiswander has even become our travel advisor! Sadly (for us) Dr. Neiswander retired recently and I personally feel I've lost something special. Perrysburg Family Physicians has been sold to The Toledo Clinic, and while this transaction brings certain benefits, I mourn the death of yet another independent practice as the Toledo healthcare system continues to consolidate. I remain hopeful, but not optimistic.
