I first went to the Tri Doc in a full panic about 6 weeks before the Austin Marathon. I was training for my 3rd full marathon and was having increasingly severe knee and hip pain on my left side. I was beside myself, thinking I would have to drop out of the race. From the moment I entered the Tri Doc, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Tuggle was able to diagnose me quickly and accurately (weak and inactive glute muscles that were causing over-compensation from other muscle groups). We started on an aggressive treatment regimen which included seeing him 2x per week for a combination of dry needling and Active Release Technique, in addition to seeing Theresa 1x per week for stretching, strengthening, and education on how to improve my problem areas. Between going to Dr. Tuggle and Theresa consistently for the next several weeks and doing my assigned homework (foam rolling, stretching, and certain exercises at home), I ran my BEST marathon with a 39-minute PR from last year!!! Running a marathon is always uncomfortable, but for the first time I didn't have that severe, deep pain I had felt on so many long runs before. I was in awe of my recovery and for the first time really enjoyed the marathon. I got to take in the race and enjoy each present moment of feeling healthy and strong. I started seeing Dr. tuggle and Theresa about 3 months ago, I go to the gym regularly and hurt myself a lot, when I first came in I was struggling with lots of pain in my shoulder, wrist and knees, I have been having knee pain on and off for about 5 years now, Dr.Tuggle used graston technique on my knees, Theresa showed me how to foam roll and kept on checking on my injuries and fixing them one at a time at each visit, within 4 weeks only I started seeing a lot of improvement in my knees, pain is way less, I can lift heavier at the gym and I'm more confident overall in trying new exercises because the pain is not as sharp anymore and it's improving with each visit! I have been a competitive runner for over 20 years but in recent years found myself injury prone. As a result, my training has been generally ineffective and often painful. I originally went to Dr Tuggle for neck/trap area pain (which is 95% resolved!) As we talked I mentioned this gnarly tendinitis in my arm to him, he stated he could treat me, so I was up for anything before I went to a surgeon. So far the pain is 60% better just after a few treatments. Graston and ART (Active Release Technique) have so far proven to assist in getting me back to functioning at 100%. I suffered a knee injury about 4 years ago now which was devastating to me as a life long athlete and specifically a runner. At the time I thought the likelihood of ever being able to return to form was highly unlikely. It was unfortunately a permanent injury unlike an ACL. I was in search of someone who could help me. I visited one place for rehab and while I cannot complain about the way I was treated the results were not what I expected or hoped for. I also would say I started out getting personal attention but after awhile I felt more like there were just too many folks in there with me. My wife pestered me to give the Tri Doc a try and I can tell you I am elated I did. I subsequently developed an issue in my foot as well as one hamstring. I was literally laid up and could no longer run... again something that was beginning to take it toll on me mentally. I gave in (yes I am stubborn) to my wife and made a visit with Dr Tuggle. This is truly not hyperbole, but after about 6-7 visits Tuggle had me back on my feet running. I will not lead you to believe I was 100% but I was on my way. After a few more appts I did feel better than I had in years and feeling empowered to go out and push it again. I had some relapse and Tuggle wiped that out too. Since then I have had no real issue aside from the occasional knee pain, but it is chronic and will be with me for the rest of my life so there is nothing he will be able to do other than help me manage it. Dr Tuggle really does a great job of setting reasonable expectations, outcomes, and adds personal touch to it. He is a very engaging guy, concerned about your welfare, and constantly keeping up with what's latest in techniques. I saw Dr. Tuggle regularly for three years, and received the best care I could have imagined. He and his staff were thorough and professional. However, his inability to maintain a consistent office has really brought down the level of care I received in the previous 6 months and because of his staff's incompetence filing my insurance claim correctly, I had to pay four times what it used to cost me out of pocket. Dr. Tuggle had the opportunity to make it right, and he chose not to. He is a great chiropractor, but he has spread his interests too thin and is just not customer friendly anymore.
