The first time I visited Oak Haven Massage, I had a great experience with Christian. He was kind, knowledgeable, and tailored the massage to my preferred pressure level. My experience with him encouraged me to sign up for the membership, which I tried out for a few months. The price is reasonable at $90 per month which includes one 50 minute massage with a tier 1 therapist. Tier 2 and above are an additional cost. I tried a few different tier 1 therapists and unfortunately didn't have a very relaxing or positive experience with any of them. I also found appointments consistently started late but ended exactly on time, meaning massage time was cut by 5-10 minutes. This was frustrating and needs to be addressed. read more

I'm disappointed to leave a review like this because the massages I've received here have been good, but unfortunately I will not be returning. I booked a 7:00 p.m. massage online and was really looking forward to it, especially after recently having a baby and finally getting a chance to take some time for myself. Later that evening, I received a text asking if I could move my appointment to either 6:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. I was hesitant, but agreed because I assumed they were trying to accommodate a scheduling issue on their end. Shortly before the appointment, my husband had an unexpected work delay that would have caused me to arrive late for the newly requested 6:30 appointment. I called as soon as possible, explained the situation, apologized, and asked if I could simply reschedule for 7:00 p.m. the following day instead. I was then informed that rescheduling would result in a $50 late cancellation fee. What was frustrating was that I had already adjusted my appointment time to accommodate the business, yet there was very little flexibility or understanding shown in return. In my opinion, the situation could have been handled with a bit more grace and consideration, especially since I was still willing to rebook rather than cancel altogether. It is disappointing to experience this from a business centered around relaxation and self-care, especially after explaining that I am navigating the challenges of having a newborn and balancing schedules the best I can. Mind you, this took place the day after Mother's Day! I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Oak Haven Massage has been such a relaxing and wonderful monthly self care treat that I enforce on myself. When I started with them, it was because I was sitting at a desk job and with a minor rear end incident, I wanted to get some stress and tension out of my body. A whole year later, I'm still going on their monthly membership which allows me to get a massage a month covered on the credit which saves money on the retail price of the 50 min massages. I love all the therapists I've seen and my favorites are especially Theresa, Katie and Christian! However the schedule accommodations and getting seen in the evenings after a long stressful work day is also such a lovely way to ensure I get use out of it when my calendars and weekends can be busy! Wowww that was the best massage ive ever had. Seriously! My partner and i were just raving about our massages while driving back home. My masseuse Abigail with the angel hands was able to target my knots and applied just the right amount of pressure. After about 15 mins in to my session i was regretting not getting an 80 minute session instead lol. My muscles have never felt so relaxed after a massage before. I have pretty severe chronic pain in my neck, jaw, and shoulders, and deep tissue massages are usually the only thing that helps. I've tried other methods that claim to work without deep pressure, but I've always been skeptical of gentler approaches. Normally, I wouldn't have chosen something called "therapeutic," assuming it would be too light, like other methods I've tried. But when I heard that therapeutic massage could target the root causes of chronic pain, I gave it a try with Son--and he was fantastic! I could tell he really understood anatomy and pain and that he knew what he was doing. Deep pressure is still key for me, but this approach felt more refined and even more effective than deep tissue alone. It combined deep pressure with movement and stretches to really target the muscles causing the pain, not just the surface knots. This gave me hope for lasting relief. read more

I have never had a worse massage experience with David. I've been an Oak Haven (Bulverde) customer as long as they've been open and I'll never return to that therapist. The staff was great, welcoming, and always what I get from the Bulverde location but David was the one off. He disparaged the company, told me he didn't get enough hours there, and I got a TERRIBLE massage. I paid waaaay too much money for the type of service I received. I rarely ever get massages but I definitely should be making it a habit. My gf was nice enough to book us both an appt a couple of months ago and I am so glad she did. I have a lot of tightness in my lower back, neck, and carpal tunnel in my right arm. I also get antsy if I'm in one place for too long but Katie made me feel so welcomed, relaxed, and was so engaging. I drove over half an hour to use a re-gifted gift card from my Aunt and laid there for two hours with someone basically just touching me and no pressure. Nothing was comfortable. TL&DR Massage therapists are fantastic, but buyer beware if something inappropriate should occur. Owner stated, "I know my staff and they wouldn't do that." ~~~ I have been a client at this place for about 8 years. The massage therapists are fantastic. However, there has been a recent turnover for the front desk staff and a new assistant manager. It is common for me to leave my kids with screentime and a nanny in the lobby here. Like most kids, they take a minute to transition. It means being noisy for 3 - 5 minutes. This time, when I went to quickly get something out of my car, I came back to find a lady working there directly correcting my son (instead of talking to me or my husband and nanny who were right there). I made it clear to her I would handle my son directly. She didn't seem to like me correcting her, and started telling me if they wouldn't be quiet, we would have to leave. When she walked away, I asked a lady at the front desk who the other lady was. Another receptionist - who I was not asking - butted in to say the lady never spoke to my son. It turns out the lady who spoke to my son is the new assistant manager. Okay, so now (1) someone has nonconsensually disciplined my child and (2) someone is gaslighting me about it even though 3 adults in my party just saw this. My husband and I then went and attempted to enjoy the massages scheduled for our anniversary. We never relaxed. After the massage, I asked to speak with the manager. Apparently, the new assistant manager lied and said I threatened her, saying "Watch out!" This did not happen. The manager told me I was not welcome back because of this (false) accusation. So add (3) crazytown accusation and (4) being told not to return and (5) anniversary ruined to the list. I asked to speak with the owner. The manager told me, "You can, but I've already talked to her and she agrees with me." The owner said I could come back without the kids "because people could be trying to relax on their anniversary." When I told her about the behavior of the assistant manager toward my child, she said, "I know my staff, and they wouldn't do that." *I think it is very concerning that an owner takes this approach.* They did refund the 6 membership credits, but not the 2 massages we received that awful day. At no point did management apologize for what was done to us. It's very sad that things have gotten so strange with new staff and that the owner is not receptive to customer feedback.
