I was told they "don't know anyone." That alone was surprising (you're a local pain clinic, allegedly a specialist, but you don't know a single other professional in your industry in the area?), but it got worse. When I said I wasn't a current patient, the response was basically "sorry, we can't help" and the call was ended. Every doctor or clinic I've ever dealt with has at least a short list of referrals when they can't help directly. This felt less like healthcare and more like "if you're not paying us, we're not interested." Not helpful at all. Would not recommend if you're looking for guidance or support navigating care.

I brought in my husband's credit card, which I'm an authorized user of, and the front desk said that they had to call him and get his verbal consent for me to use the card. He was unable to answer, so I used my own card, but I really didn't have the money to pay and I was nervous about it. Also, my husband was in a car accident the week before and I had no car and had taken an Uber there. So I changed my mind and decided not to keep the appointment and got the charges reversed. I then went in and apologized because I had been upset and tried to explain but they said I had to wait for the OM. I waited 30 mins and then they said she would call me. Also, they flagged my husband's card as fraudulent and I was unable to take an Uber home and a patient gave me a ride home. Also, when I did speak to the OM she was so mean and bullying, that I cried afterwards.

He is very short on responding to your questions. He always has "a plan" which he does not reveal until the first line of treatment fails. He will gladly keep injecting you for pain until you realize that surgery is the best option. He will try to convince you that he has the answer. I suggest getting a second opinion after determining if the treatment being provided is working. He completely minimized the importance of a synovial cyst apparent in my MRI. In fact, the cyst was responsible for severe nerve compression. I had 9 different types of lumbar injections. After that I opted for surgery. The doctors at Chicagoland Pain Management do not follow through with writing prescriptions for post-op pain. I went days without any pain medications after a spinal laminectomy and fusion. The nurses who return calls do not even know what type of surgery was performed and where the pain was located in your body. CPM might work for some people. I suggest getting the opinion of a surgeon first, trying the injections and then deciding if the treatment is working. If you feel relief with one or two injections that is great. If the treatments seem to provide no relief then seek help elsewhere.

Since he moved out of state, my current doctor and his PA have decreased my meds, not once, but twice. I never complained about it or tried to do anything to get them increased again. These days, I find myself basically needing to be at the PA's beck and call to come in whenever she sees fit, or else she threatens to withhold my medication (both of which I've been taking for years with no issue. And both which would be dangerous to stop cold turkey). My previous doctor understood that because I'm in my 30s with a job AND a small child, that my availability is not the same as most of their clients who are twice my age. I wouldn't be going through all of these super painful procedures, having to renew FMLA each year, etc if I didn't need to. I've also had sevevel sets of imaging done which clearly show the causes for the pain. A PAIN MANAGEMENT facility should really care alot more about actually managing pain of the patients.

Fortunately, they had an MRI available at another location. However, when I went to see the scheduler to schedule my mom's MRI, that was where we experienced the most disservice. The scheduler assisting us was Sara, and she was the most condescending, insulting, and arrogant person I have ever met. First, she called my mom's name, and I told my mom that I could speak on her behalf to get the appointment scheduled. Sara replied with an annoyed tone, "I need the patient. I have questions for her to answer." I explained that I handle all my mom's scheduling and that she gives me full consent to assist her. Sara responded, "Why do you know all her history?" So, I asked my mom to come up just to get it over with. Then, Sara asked if my mom spoke English, and my mom answered "Yes." Sara responded with an insulting look and said, "Do you speak English... WELL?" My mom pointed to me and said she would tell me if there was something she didn't understand. Then, Sara asked my mom what her primary language was, saying it was needed to arrange for a translator. She continued asking question after question, which both my mom and I answered. Afterward, Sara asked, in a condescending tone, "Are you going with her to the MRI appointment?" I said yes, and she replied, "Okay, because I don't know how good our translators are." Then, Sara said the earliest appointment she had available was on the 28th, which was a Friday. If that didn't work, she had Saturday available. I told her I would prefer Saturday, as I work Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. She responded in a condescending and insulting tone, "No, not Saturday. Erase that. She can only go Monday to Friday because she needs a translator." I explained that my mom understood the language, but Sara insisted, "No, she needs a translator. Forget I said Saturday. She cannot go on that day." I reminded her that I would be accompanying my mom, especially since she had asked if I was going, as she wasn't sure how good the translators were. Despite this, she insisted that my mom could not go on the Saturday appointment. I finally told her to forget it and that we would go with an outside provider who could accommodate us on a Saturday. I don't understand why my mom couldn't go on the Saturday appointment when I can translate for her. It wasn't my mom's first time having an MRI--she had previously had MRIs of her brain and neck. I don't understand why she was making such a big deal out of it. I thought Sara would help us make it work, but instead, we felt mistreated and insulted by her actions and words.
