Today was my last day of physical therapy at BayLife and the experience was fantastic. Injured my…read morelower back at the gym and ended up with 2 herniated discs and significantly limited mobility. As an active person, the limitations and pain caused by the injury was more then a bit frustrating. I chose BayLife based on the incredible reviews online (and that they took my insurance). I'm happy to say that the yelpers and google reviewers out there knew what they were talking about. I met with Dr. Ben Mauer twice a week for 18 weeks. I didn't want surgery or any cortisone shots if I could avoid it. Everything I heard was the herniations would heal with time and rest, but I didn't just want to heal, I want to avoid a relapse. Ben knew from the get-go what my issue was (hip mobility, if you can believe it), and he put me right to work on improving hip strength and mobility and core strength and stability. I was definitely skeptical - why would my hips have anything to do with my back - but the more work we did on my hips and core, the better I started feeling. We spent a lot of time going over different exercises and stretches, and of course, a home routine to supplement the work. He also helped a ton with my form for squats, deadlifts, and rows, all to ensure my core was braced, my back was neutral, and I learned where my limits were so as not to overload my back or put it in a bad position. Whereas I had no confidence in my ability to do those exercises again without injuring myself, I am now comfortable doing all of those exercises (with modifications suggested by Ben) and am slowly starting to load up on the weight again. I can't think of enough great things to say. Dr. Mauer is patient, detail oriented, and you can tell he truly cares about his patients and gets excited for and enjoys their successes. With the exception of my fiance, I felt like Ben was my biggest cheerleader to improve. If you have any muscle or joint pain or any injuries that you or your doctor think would benefit from physical therapy, this is the place you need to go.

In March this year my father was admitted to Oak Manor Rehab center for physical therapy after…read moresurgery for repairing broken femur from a fall. After 5 weeks he was close to discharge but then became deathly ill from 4 serious infections that were all preventable and caused by neglect of simple hygienic care and poor medical attention from staff and facility. He was in ICU for 4 days fighting pneumonia, severe UTI, E-Coli and blood sepsis. He remained in hospital for another 15 days recovering before able to come home. At home with home healthcare and 24 hr. care necessary now. He is very slowly recovering with PT but is no longer independent as previous to original injury. Due to the severity of infections and hospitalizations he has lost a large amount of his cognitive thinking and communication abilities. He now suffers from chronic COPD due to pneumonia. So many more things happened and lack of care that would take a few more pages. Please do not take your loved ones here is all I can say!

They had all medical records, I was told their staff isnt trained, so train them. A drunk monkey can do it. I do it daily myself, user friendly. BEWARE!!! They probably are doing a infection risk assessment and then say NO. NOT THE WAY TO ADD STRESS TO ANY FAMILY

My elderly stepfather returned to this facility recently after being there nine months ago. This experience has been a nightmare. Communication is practically nonexistent. Both my sister and I left repeated voicemails and emails for the head of nursing, the facility, Director, and the social workers, barely any responses When we did manage to get someone on the phone we were met with rudeness and hostility. My stepfather began vomiting and having diarrhea on a Wednesday. He was weak, and we could tell something was seriously wrong. Unfortunately, we have autoimmune disorder so we could not go in in person. It took until Friday to get a clear update, and even then, we had to push hard just to speak to someone. I told the head of nursing who was struggling to breathe, she argued with me saying His labs and his chest x-ray looked good and insisted he was stable. I asked if they had done a Covid and/or flu test. She dismiss the idea entirely. Only after I demanded testing did they run one, and guess what? Positive for Covid even then they resisted transferring him to the hospital until we threatened legal action. He was finally moved, and once there, we learned he had a collapsed lung and was admitted directly into the ICU. The head of nursing casually told me she doesn't return calls because she has approximately 157 patients and they're short staffed. That's just unprofessional, not to mention dangerous I would never send another loved one here. What was once a decent facility is now a place I wouldn't trust with anyone's care. Absolutely heartbreaking and unacceptable .
