From discussing topics with the students, taking creativity workshops and participating in the classes and events, I am gathering tools and experiences that help me to grow and hopefully help in creating a better Earth for us all. I think the creativity workshops are probably the best way to visit especially if you can tie it with a tour. It would be a great first introduction. Besides the workshops, I really love the Crystal Flame Ceremony in December. My first actual visit (I've been aware of Unarius for years) was a visit during business hours. We spent an hour talking with Billie who has painted some of the most well known paintings of Unarius. Each time I visit now I can feel the positive energy and excitement building. Stop in and ask questions. They are always willing to talk. There are a ton of books and dvds and everyone's favorite, the starship pin!

I ended up buying quite a few books which are great help if one wants to follow online classes. What I liked the most is that they put a lot of emphasis on creative expression. I've tried their art classes and also saw a performance of their choir. Both things were very inspiring and they helped me get a deeper understanding into my own artistic practice. After my appointment, the stylist reviewed my personal social media and later sent me a message declining to service me further--not due to anything that occurred during my appointment, but because I styled my own hair differently outside of the salon. While I respect a stylist's right to set boundaries in their chair, reviewing a client's personal content and making assumptions about them felt unprofessional and inappropriate. Client autonomy outside of appointments should be respected. That said, this issue reflects one individual, not the academy as a whole. I would absolutely return to Bellus Academy and simply book with a different student/stylist moving forward.

We felt there was limited empathy or meaningful engagement from the administration regarding the bullying itself. Instead, the focus of our interaction with the principal was largely on criticizing my reaction, rather than addressing what had happened to our child. When I discovered my child sobbing on the floor during the after-school program, I was understandably upset. Despite later being told that I was perceived as a "danger" to other members of the school community, staff members did not handled in accordance with their own school safety policies regarding such a situation, so obviously there was no danger. The most memorable outcome of the situation was a reprimand from Dr. Belcher regarding my behavior, with comparatively little discussion of the bullying or steps to prevent it from happening again. Ultimately, we felt our concerns were not adequately addressed. As a result, we made the decision to withdraw our child from the school and received a partial refund of tuition. I am sharing this experience so other families understand that while academics may be strong, support around student well-being--particularly in cases of bullying--did not meet our expectations.
