Dr. Ahmed is professional, kind and thorough. So far he is the primary reason we continue in his care. Now the not-so-great: the lobby is dark. Honestly if Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique were playing it wouldn't surprise me one bit. On two visits I overheard patients mentioning how dark it is and on both occasions, the front desk rep indicated they notified the building management. It's been 2 months and it's still dark. None of our appointments have received a "text reminder". I'm a calendar fanatic so this does faze me, but if the front desk says we'll receive a reminder text and it doesn't happen, someone dropped the ball. I gave the front desk rep a heads-up and she explained "my co-worker handles Dr. Ahmed's text reminders; I'll let her know." I'm not confident that's going to happen. Not pleased with the phone system, it's rare I can reach a real person on the first try. I do leave messages, and have received a return call, but most other occasions I end up calling again hoping to win the live person lottery. Button up the details and one could get over having to pay for parking. There's a Redondo Beach location that would be my first choice (free parking too!), but it seems our doc doesn't have RB hours. It's not a joy to have to make the drive here, but again, if the details were fine-tuned, I could overlook the drive. read more

Dr. Ovadia is the best. I've been to multiple urologists. He and another doctor at Cedars are easily the best I've encountered. Dr. Ovadia is science-based, and he explains your condition and options from that vantage point. He explains clearly and patiently. I never feel rushed out of his office. He cares a great deal about his patients. If you're hospitalized, as I have been multiple times, he will come in at odd hours if you need him to. He is dedicated to the patients he serves. For Dr. Sameer Malhotra do be a doctor that works with people, he is very unprofessional! He has a negative attitude and talks horribly to patients. He even made a nasty comment to my dad while he was speaking to the receptionist. This behavior is very inappropriate and I don't understand why he still has a job. What is said could be classified as sexual harassment because of his choice of words. When my dad had questions about his case, this doctor told him "let's not go in circles", instead of explaining to him what his plan of care was. If any patients has questions regarding their own care, they should be answered kindly and the procedure should be explained effectively. This doctor is a urologist that should learn how to explain the reproductive system and problems that occur, and if he doesn't know how to explain, maybe he should go back to school and learn something! Again, this doctor is rude, impatient, and has the worst attitude I've ever seen with a healthcare provider. I do not suggest going to him AT ALL. When trying to make a follow up appointment, the doctor declined care, so the receptionist was very standoffish and not helpful at all. No one gave us a referral or let us know our further options. So if our healthcare records get swept under the rug and no follow up or further instructions are given, and if he gets worse, you can be sure to have a lawsuit coming your way for neglecting patient care and abandonment. It is hard to get a hold of them via phone but their staff is actually really nice. I've gone a couple times to this office and it's easily accessible. Parking is in the big building behind on PCH and it's paid parking but there's definitely plenty of parking Staff if super nice in front and back office and Dr. Malhotra is the best!! He's very thorough, kind, understanding , knowledgeable and caring. I'm glad I had a pleasant experience because it's true when they say we go to doctor offices vulnerable in seek of help so being nice and caring does go a long way! Do not waste time or money here if you can avoid it. I am speaking of Dr. Aaron Ovadia specifically. - Hard to call. They don't always pick up so it's hard to make an appointment, fix any issues or ask any questions - Appointments are always made in increments of 2 months to wait for the next and they say to keep calling to check for cancellations to give you hope saying it's possible but everyone you call they don't pick up or if they do they just say there is none. - Waiting time for my second appointment was an hour - people working there don't seem to care for you as a patient. Speaking of nurses and people picking up phone or making schedules. -overheard the doctor yelling at his nurses multiple times and loudly without care all of his patients are right there in the waiting room and can hear him First appointment, I waited two months only for the doctor to tell me I had an overactive bladder after initially sitting down with me without running any tests and after further inquiry I had to get him to push for a ct scan. Because I have a history of kidney stones and had seen blood in my urine but these questions were never asked by him. You have to advocate for yourself and ask all the right questions and be the doctor else he will just tell you anything. With my insurance, this 10 minute conversation costed me $70. He did absolutely nothing. I've done to another urologist before that I couldn't get this time due to my insurance change and that one immediately did a scope on me the first appointment. This two months of waiting left me with a bad assessment, me pushing for a scan, and him telling me to make a follow up appointment to do the scope on me. My next follow up appointment couldn't be made any sooner, then you guessed it, two months form that day. - Next appointment, it was an hour wait in which they left me waiting in the scope room with a stick up my vagina for half hour while I lay there half naked. When he stuck it up there, he wasn't being very conscious of how he was hurting me and shoved the camera up rather quickly. Luckily I brought a friend in with me, but I had to advocate hard for them to let him in with me because the nurse kept saying no. My friend was there to help look at what the camera was seeing on the screen. He saw some anomalies and had to mention to the doctor that I was started to bleed profusely before the doctor pulled out because it was hurting my innards. The doctor didn't seem to react or take careful precautions until my friend advocated for my concern. The doctor just left me with saying he couldn't make any assessment to my issue. This costed me another $70. He just said maybe come back 3-6 months from now to check out my anomalies. He was absolutely useless. - Turns out my issues are from my possible kidney stones that I figured out myself and a yeast infection that I went to check out myself at the doctors by getting tested as I've had uti infections but this doesn't fall under that test. I figured this all out myself from googling. Also the ct scan costed me another $300. All to just show I have kidney stones. The doctor said I will need an xray scan to located the stones which will cost another hundreds of dollars and he would perform the procedure on me to break the stones but showed no confidence in knowing how to do this and after my experience with his knowledge for anything or care for my wellbeing, I won't trust him. read more

Complained to office manager, "Celia" for unacceptable receptionist desk service lacking in areas of professionalism, communication, courtesy and environment being dark; therefore, I do not recommend Advanced Urology in Redondo Beach. Post retirement, this was my first time appointment with Dr. Samir Maholtra on 16NOV as a referral from my previous and excellent PPO urologist in Torrance, but unfortunately I was not impressed with our relationship. In addition, their staff service is poor and could careless! I was angry when "Janitzia" did not acknowledge receiving my online registration form, because of her unacceptable response stating "we have lots of patients and I'm busy" that resulted in not having my form on record ready for my appointment, but found later. Sounds like a sloppy office! Former patient with a one time urologist, "Dr. Tomasic" before with the same bad feeling. As a consequence, I filled out a negative Optum survey today and will choose another urologist. read more

I am a big fan of Dr. Nicolas Tomasic. He's an excellent doctor and I was a patient of his for over 20 years. He did a major surgery for me and saw me for various issues over the years. In the last three years since the pandemic I had moved out of the area, and I recently tried to make an appointment. I was completely stonewalled by the receptionist answering the phones, who was quite rude to me and told me to just go to an emergency room. I told her I had an acute issue, and I had been a patient for decades. She didn't give me the courtesy of hearing me out, said that Dr. Tomasic does not have time in his schedule, and that I would be considered a new patient that can get an appointment at the end of January. She did not ask what the issue was and wouldn't let me mention, nor did she offer up a colleague in his practice to see me as an alternative. Totally surprised by how I was treated, so rudely and uncaringly. I understand that people get busy, but there's never a reason to treat patients/customers badly. I do hope Dr. Tomasic gets to read this and can give his staff a teaching moment. read more

AVOID this office. I simply wanted a refill. They forced me to come in, the Dr Chu did not do anything other than input the refill information in his computer, and they charged me $360! And the Dr even told me during that visit that I did not even have to come in for this! Ridiculous. And they have the audacity to claim the Dr "evaluated" me. Absolutely not. The Dr and I literally just sat in the room, and talked about how many pills I can get for each refill. AVOID this place! I sure will. read more

Met with Dr. Casey who was extremely kind and patient with my disorganized charts and paperwork. I appreciate her warm manner and thorough interview. I did not wait longer than 10 minutes in a comfortable waiting room. Parking is easy but no validation available, but only $6. maximum. The views are stunning from the 9th floor and the offices are well maintained. It took several appointments to actually see the Doctor but I did not have an emergency. Let's start with what little good there is based on my experience (3 appts) - The staff at the Westchester office I have spoken with on the phone and at the office are generally polite and helpful - they answer phone and try their best. The issue isn't their fault. Here's the bad (at least in my experience): The Westchester office is not well run. Way too many patients crammed into a small, inefficient space and way too many patients in general crammed into one day at this location - the doctors fall way behind schedule. I waited a total of 2 hours once from check in to the doctor coming in. I waited almost an hour the next time. It's not the 1970s anymore - there has to be a way to improve this system (or lack thereof). This responsibility falls on the doctors who own the practice who, it is assumed based on this, seek to maximize profit at the expense of quality time with the patient. The communication system is a joke. In my experience you cannot get any assistance or response over phone from a nurse or the doctor, even if urgent. I've been in pain for a week. I've tried calling to speak with the doctor's nurse to get some direction from her or the doctor - no response to a Friday morning voicemail saying "constant pain." I called again Monday - after going to the ER - and spoke to someone at 9 a.m. and reiterated I'd been to ER and needed to follow up, and could I see any of the doctors. She said she'd contact the doctor I saw. No response. Unprofessional to the point of being a joke. This, too, is a responsibility that falls to the doctors who own the practice. More importantly, this likely borders on malpractice. I gave up and called a new urologist at 4 pm and they treated it like a red alert and are fit me in the next morning. Which is how it's supposed to be in such cases when your patient has been in the E R. The new urologist I saw examined me disagreed with the Advanced urologist's diagnosis and opined that I had been treated incorrectly and for the wrong condition, which she was certain I did not have. She then discussed THREE different treatment options the doctor at Advanced never mentioned, all of which could make a huge difference long term. And while this new urologist took copious notes and spent 45 minutes with me the Advanced urologist was late and spent 5 minutes, didn't really listen, misdiagnosed the problem, and had me take antibiotics I did not need. This on top of ignoring my two calls conveying a significant issue as above. Malpractice. There are certainly better-run places. And based on my experience there are definitely better-qualified urologists. If you aren't forced to go here I'd suggest you avoid it and keep looking. These doctors certainly won't miss (and likely won't care about) you anyway. read more

We arrived 10 minutes before our appt. Time. We finally got called into a room 30 minutes after our appt time. Then we waited 25 minutes for a doctor to come in. RIDICULOUS! My father is 96 years old. Trying to keep him awake while waiting that long was a challenge. They do not value your time especially if you took off work to come to them.. They have a sign asking forgiveness for being understaffed. Advice: don't book more appointments than you have staff to handle! read more

It was one of the worst offices I had dealt with. The staff at the register is not friendly and talks over you. The doctor with malignant result does not explain about the result in words the patient can understand, or did not even attempt to explain but rather had to ask him for explanations. Since it was emergency surgery, he called me directly the night before to introduce himself and explain the severity of the problem in a manner that I was able to understand. He followed up in the hospital where my husband stayed for one week. We also followed up 2 weeks later in his office. Again, he was patient and kind with us. Tried to book an appointment twice as a new patient after referral from PCP using the website expecting a call back as the website and accompanying email told me to. Twice received a cancellation notice via email, no one ever called me. Called and waited 1/2 hr to speak to "New Patient Coordinator" who was unapologetic and would not offer an earlier appointment than 30 days out. The appts offered online were much sooner. To the Dr's at the practice- if you're going to offer this facility to book online you must make sure your staff will support it - you are dealing with my health - this is not "customer service" - this is much more important than that. To the "New Patient Coordinator" - you need to be more helpful if you are going to deal with patients. read more

I am giving this office a 5 star rating and this is because on Dec. 23rd - 2018 I ended up at ER in Torrance again due to a Kidney Stone issue. It's quite large and obviously will not pass. I also have a stent in me as I was in the ER back in October for same issue but the pain was just horrible so the Urologist on call Dr. Tomasic put the stent in to help with urine flow and to keep that nagging horrible pain at bay. I appreciated. The ER doc on Sunday spoke to Dr. Ahmed who was on call for my doctor who happened to be out of the country for the holidays (no problem I understand). Dr. Ahmed agreed with ER doc that stent and stone need to come out. I was getting ready to call the office when low and behold, they called me. I am going in to see Dr. Ahmed for consult (surgery). Katee called me and she could NOT have been nicer. We usually go to Redondo Beach office but will travel to Westchester which is just north of us and not a problem. I could NOT be happier that Dr. Ahmed remembered my case from the other day and they are doing their very best to get this thing out of me. I am DELIGHTED. I look forward to meeting Dr. Ahmed. Amended: We were at this office just a week ago I believe and saw Melissa (PA) and the staff are great. They get busy but I was treated nicely then. You don't want to find yourself here because if you're here you've got a medical issue to contend with but if you find yourself in a difficult situation like I was in then I recommend this medical facility I have had a very good experience here. Dr Malhotra treats me like a person with real feelings. He is kind and very professional. The staff has been helpful and I have had nothing but a pleasant experience here. The staff here has been attentive, patient and caring. I don't wish anyone come here because if you're here you've got health issues. But if you do have a health concern you don't want your dr to make the situation worse. An uncaring staff or dr who is too clinical would be the worst. I will likely be a patient here for many years to come but I am extremely appreciative I was referred to dr Malholtra. I also wanted to say some of these low ratings are unfair. I read one review who gave this medical office a low rating for a 30 minute wait. Sometimes the dr has to deliver really bad news or had emergency surgery so their appointments have to be reshuffled or an appt might take longer than the next patient would prefer. This is NOT a reason to give a medical facility a low rating. I made an appointment Months in advance for December 2nd as my insurance deductibles had been met. They called me the day before to cancel my appointment as the Doctor had a surgery (wouldn't they know this in advance?) They asked me to call back which I did the following day. I was a patient of Dr. Carie Stewart for a while and was following up with her for a urology issue. She seemed nice and caring at the beginning and scheduled a procedure for me to be done at the hospital under anesthesia (which I found out later on that the procedure was completely unnecessary and could have been dangerous for me!) I got a call from her office the day before and they canceled my procedure because Dr. Stewart thought that I had left a negative review for her online!!!! I couldn't believe this!! A specialist canceled a procedure the day before, because of a negative review online. Of course she was wrong and I had never wrote a review for her, but I made sure to submit this review and let everyone know of this dr's horrible behavior and the way she treats her patients. Wow this place is a total disaster... the first doctor I saw abruptly left the practice. I was transferred to a new doctor without notice. Dr Tomasic was actually quite good but the front desk staff has been repeatedly rude and unhelpful to the point that they have lost my business. I went to Dr. Stewart for stress incontinence when I was at my wits' end. Exercise, physical therapy... nothing helped. In fact the problem was getting worse. In addition, I was starting to have bladder leakage during sex. Dr. Stewart was approachable, understanding, and responsive to my concerns. Most importantly, she knew exactly how to proceed. Outpatient surgery was easy, and of course there was an anesthesiologist in attendance. He met with me before the procedure and was there throughout. This is, of course, always the case with general anesthesia. It was easy to get follow up appointments with Dr. Stewart (although, obviously, she is often in surgery) and I am so relieved to have met her and to have been treated by her. I feel fortunate to have found Dr. Nickolas Tomasic, my talented and knowledgeable urologist/surgeon. He makes me feel very comfortable during what are usually disagreeable medical procedures. Let me start by giving my HIGHEST recommendation for DR. Ahmed. He is compassionate, patient, and intelligent. After that though, I have to echo the many of the comments listed before. I was 15 minutes early for my appointment, but had to wait for 2 hours and 10 minutes in an overcrowded waiting room. The staff was less than polite. And can I make a suggestion? I can't begin to say how much of a great experience Dr Malhota gave me. The doc took his time to explain the entire procedure as well as going over each and every one of my concerns.
