My full experience with Joshua is difficult to describe without revealing my private medical info so I will keep it high level. He did not take my full medical history into account when treating me and as a result I am now having to navigate issues related to poor treatment and management. Due in part to incomplete informed consent. I also experienced him as dismissive when I asked about a suspected genetic disorder stating "it would not change treatment" but according to my new doctor it changes things significantly. I thought this was a LGBTQ+ safe and affirming practice but that only seems to apply to some parts of that population and not others... He pushes treatments that are inline with harmful dominant cultural norms rather than affirming patients. My life is significantly worse and has been for years because of the poor care i got at this clinic which is made all the more disappointing by the exorbitant cost. Joshua is the doctor that finally broke me and had totally destroyed my trust of doctors and the medical system writ large. This was the first and last time I visited this clinic. I was booked for a procedure with Dr. Joshua Gonzalez, but the procedure was done poorly. Dr. Gonzalez gave me an injection of Hylenex, after which I felt extremely unwell. I returned to the clinic because I felt like I was dying--I couldn't breathe properly, I didn't know what to do, and my blood pressure was rising. When I arrived at the clinic, I had to wait 30 minutes for the doctor. Instead of helping me, Dr. Gonzalez seemed unsure of what to do. I remained in the clinic for about an hour in very poor condition, but no one provided proper assistance because the doctor didn't know how to handle the situation. It's absolutely unacceptable for a doctor to harm their patient like this. Afterward, I went to the emergency room. I spent 10 days at home feeling extremely weak and exhausted, struggling to breathe. A month has passed, and the injection site still hurts. I've been seeing Dr Gonzalez for six years now and he's truly an amazing doctor! He's one of the few doctors in Los Angeles who specializes in sexual medicine and pelvic pain for women and people with vulvas. Unlike other medical practices I've been to, Dr. G really takes his time speaking with you and learning about what's going on, providing feedback and options based on the discussion. I have been a patient of Dr. Gonzalez, and I have also continuously referred patients to him for help that no other doctor has been able to help with. When I first met him, it was because I had been through months of seeing various providers (OBGYN, GI, primary care) to help identify various hormonal issues I was having, I was told my IUD was ineffective, placed on oral contraceptives, changed oral contraceptives, took my IUD out... all over the place as guesses. When I found Dr. Gonzalez, he knew exactly what had been going on, ran some labs to confirm, and placed me on a treatment that literally solved everything. It took some time, but I saw immediate changes. I have since referred hundreds of patients who come to me with similar issues after going through years of various doctors without help. I cannot express how many times patients tell me how grateful they were to find some direction to their care in helping them get back to normal after years of no answers. He is always professional, has very friendly office staff, and for a specialist in what he does, almost all of my patients are able to be seen within 2 weeks, which is almost unheard of for a specialist, normally people have to wait months. This is the best doctor I've ever visited in Los Angeles! He asked me clear and concise questions and got to the root of my problem. I felt like he really wanted to help me and he did. I was really nervous before going in but I left in a really good mood, thinking that it was completely worth the drive and the price. He is really professional, young, smart and experienced. The office is really nice too and everyone working there is extremely calm, really polite, and also professional. There was no wait, the facilities were also clean and modern. Update: Unfortunately, things have slightly changed for me. I'm glad I found doctor(s) who can offer more options than just hormone treatment. Dr. Gonzalez was also adamant about me seeing a specific PT that is way out of my budget. It felt like to me there's some sort of agreement between him and the Pelvic Health and Rehab Center, as I felt extremely pressured by Dr. Gonzalez to shell out $230+ an hour to go to this place when as a broke student earning little more than minimum wage this is simply not an option for me right now. I reiterated this but he did not seem to understand. Thanks to a different doctor I got a huge list of great pelvic floor physical therapists in the LA area and thanks to this list I found a great one (feel free to message me if you want the list). I still think Dr. Gonzalez is a good, caring doctor that's worth seeing but I also find him to be kind of "strict" in his approach and occasionally curt. He is however very responsive and easy to get a hold of which is hard to find in doctors. I just felt like after so many months of systemic hormones with no end in sight or offerings of other treatment options when I asked about them coupled with this immense pressure of seeing this one ridiculously priced physical therapy place it was time for a different opinion and I'm glad I sought it out. Oh yeah, and I needed a cystoscopy done and he doesn't seem to do them? Weird for a urologist ---- Dr. Gonzalez is amazing. I am a female dealing with chronic pelvic pain. I have seen more doctors than I could count on two hands with no answers or end in site. Dr. Gonzalez treated my pain as it should be treated: as a physical issue. There's still no guarantees about what will work, but Dr. Gonzalez seems to understand my pelvic pain better than the "top specialists" I have seen. I finally feel close to an answer. I am sorry I need to give 1 star to this clinic. About 4 weeks ago I called the office to schedule an appointment for my husband. The nearest appointment was 2 weeks away. I gave all the insurance information and credit card (yes, they requested a CC number to book your appointment!). I was told that they will call to confirm 2 days before the appointment. Unfortunately, when I added the appointment on my calendar, I forgot to set up the reminder. We NEVER got a reminder call to confirm the appointment (as expected) from the clinic and as a result we missed the appointment. They still charged us $100!!! I understand and respect no-show policy and believe we should be held accountable for missing our appointment, but this clinic needs to also have a way to confirm especially if their availability is so limited and appointments are scheduled for 2 weeks later. Also, I don't recall being told the no show charge is $100 which is way too much. This is a rip off. Very fishy and non ethical. I should have listened to my guts when I felt uncomfortable to give my CC number at the time of booking. Looks like they found one more way to make extra money. Greedy. What a shame.
