After the last few days of his testicles healing things have normalized a good bit. I'm going from 4 stars back to 2.5 because his balls were totally ignored the whole time he had diarrhea in his holding pen there and it was ignored. Thankfully Solimar shaved them and discovered the problem. They were RAW and he was in pain and my wife and I feel horribly guilty about it bc that was the bigger issue the whole time NOT right under his tail. How in the world can that be missed? Wiping up his holding pen is only half of it. The acidic diarrhea was never cleaned off his balls. 100% inexcusable all the way around. 10days in, 2 night hospital stay, $5k in tests run, another visit and still not back to normal yet. Even though we were placed in an exam room, our cat was taken to a "back room" and not returned to us until we left. It was suggested that our cat needed an X-ray, blood work, a feeding tube, an iv and anti nauseous meds. When we reiterated again, we just wanted an enema administered, that's when we were told it would probably be at least two more hours. When we arrived, I asked who the doctor would be and I was told that there were "many" so they couldn't give us a name. After an hour wait and not seeing a Vet, we were then told there was only one ER doctor. A vet tech could have done this..We left after 11p with a very uncomfortable cat as they did absolutely nothing for $165. We have no plans to ever return here. Our family just inherited a puppy as a new member of the family. Advanced Veterinary Care Center was there for our family during the last year of our sixteen year old dog's life. We brought our dog into the emergency center and the staff made the stressful situation minimal. They quoted us a price for care and did not use the whole amount. Our dog stayed overnight for three days and received care. Just a super friendly caring staff and fairly priced and appreciate that they did not take advantage of a sad situation. The front of the Advanced Vet business has six reserved parking spaces. Went into the care center lobby, whuch is very clean, to find out about initial consultation pricing for our new puppy if ever needed. They had three employees at the front counter. One of the girls advised that the price is still the same at $145.00 for ER consultation and then further pricing if required is determined by the doctor. read more

Dr. June and nurse Gia were incredibly kind and explained everything to us very well. We arrived quite anxious about our small dog having bloody stool, so their bedside manner really put us at ease. For starters, I am grateful for them taking care of my puppy. They drugged him up, and took the pain away for a minute. The Girls in the front desk are the reason they are getting a rating. They were kind and helpful. The vet there insisted we operate our 5 month old puppy and charge us $12,000. Yeah no, I wasn't expecting to purchased a used car. They put a splint on him and gave us pain killers. I took him to another vet the following day, the vet said it will heal on its own and surgery on a mild fracture on a puppy was not needed as he was still developing that floating bone in particular. I spent $2k for the advance visit and $150 at the other vet. Update. My now 7 month old puppy has a tiny limp, but runs and jumps with no issue. I just feel they were taking advantage of people's emotions when their dogs are down and out. read more

Our one year old very energetic pup got into a bit of an accident and ended up with a huge wound on his neck. We had to rush to advanced veterinary care center recommended to us by our vet. I ran into the office with the dog in a bloody towel, my 8 year old crying and myself covered in blood. The first came out immediately and was super calmed and took him in right away. I was directed to their restroom so I could clean up a bit. Afterwards we were taken to a room where the doctor came in and explained everything they needed to do and I was told someone else would come in to give me a quote. Kimberly came in with the quote and immediately started talking to my son first. She explained everything to him in a way he would understand. She went as far as giving him her card so he could give her a call for updates if he needed to know about his dog. Before we left him there for stitches she asked him if he wanted to see our dog before we left and walked us to their ICU, introduced every nurse to him and let him pet our dog. I strongly suggest you DO NOT go to this clinic. And I will break it down into 2 major points. 1. COMMUNICATION: After leaving my dog overnight and being told they would do a CT as early as possible, I heard nothing from them all day and so I called at 2pm and was told he was just coming out of CT and the doctor planned to call me in a half hour. 3 HOURS LATER I got the call to discuss the results. (Being prompt is not part of their standard operating procedures) Upon discussion I understood that the scans showed a large mass but not knowing where it was growing from. It was heartbreaking to hear this yet also hard to know I just spent $5,500 to get non definitive results, but I accepted that. Dr. Stephanie High, the vet who was working on my dog, suggested euthanasia. When I said I will come pick up my dog and spend a few days to see how he does, she proceeded to tell me that the dog is uncomfortable and that the time with the dog would only be for me and not the dog. I was taken aback. This was one of the most insensitive things for a vet to say at a time like this. As if the time with the pet and the family doesn't matter, and the dogs comfort is the sole issue. And if the comfort is the issue, why not tell me ways to keep him comfortable, instead of only suggesting euthanasia. In a time of great distress, I needed to be made to feel selfish? Dr. High's bedside manner could really be improved. And speaking of comfort, this is where I was furious.... My dog left the clinic with bloody diarrhea to which Dr. High did not even mention that it might have been from stress and the 7 medicines that were given to my dog during his 24 hour stay. My dog has NEVER had bloody diarrhea before and now leaving this clinic he now does. Would have been more professional and empathetic to say that bloody diarrhea could have been caused from stress from the visit and side effects from the 7 medicines he was given while there for 24 hours. It could have been from the abdominal mass as well but would have been good to be openly communicative about the reason he looked worse when he left then we he went in. They didn't even offer me metronidazole which would have been a good anti diarrheal to give him according to a vet friend. Luckily I have some and gave it to him and today he has had no diarrhea. 2. Pricing.... Others have already made this clear. I was referred by my primary and trusted him, and he will be given this same information when they return on Monday. For others reading this, shop around for other emergency clinics that have a better reputation for price AND for overall service. While AVC does have excellent imaging techniques and available emergency care, you can be guaranteed that your visit will be in the highest price range possible and the service may not be up to par. You will go broke whether the service is good or bad. For instance my dog went in for an ultrasound and a CT scan and I had a bill that was $5,500. I understood the cost and paid it but for the communication and service this clinic offered, it was not worth the visit. I hesitated to write this review but considering this clinicians and the office communication with its patients and the costs, I really want to help someone else NOT have to experience this when your pet is dealing with major health issues. read more

We were away from home and our cat Dobby started to have gastric issues. I was looking for an interest and couldn't find anyone that had availability in the next 30 days. I ended up taking Dobby up to Davie, Florida for AVCC. We had a long wait (I knew we would, he wasn't that sick and they had some very sick animals come in). As I lived over an hour away, after the initial examination, they found him a quiet spot to wait until they had availability to do some more detailed diagnostic work. Dobby is a nervous cat but it was a good experience for him. They diagnosed him, changed his meds and he is doing much better. Dobby needed a refill and we were still away and they contacted a compounding pharmacy for me, gave them all our details. The pharmacy reached out and 24 hours later we had his meds. They were wonderful and also brilliant, as they diagnosed him when another emergency room failed to do several months prior. read more

We brought our pregnant dog to Advance Veterinary Care Center (AVCC) after noticing signs of labor. We paid $855 for bloodwork, x-rays, and care with Dr. Kristina Calicchio. She told us there were no signs of labor or distress. She sent us home. Thank God we didn't listen. No more than 30 minutes after Kristina's diagnosis. We trusted our gut, went to another emergency vet--and they immediately confirmed she was in active labor and in emergency distress due to green discharge (a clear danger sign). That second vet's actions saved our dog and her puppies. My husband went back the next day to speak to the manager, Stephanie Palmer, to share the truth and seek accountability. Instead, she was just as dismissive and cold. Stated she wasn't a vet herself as to why she couldn't offer more input. She didn't apologize or offer help. Only defended the misdiagnosis from her "experienced" partner. Let me be clear: This place is not safe. They ignored emergency signs, dismissed our concerns, and charged us $855 for false reassurance that could have killed our dog. When confronted with the truth, they showed zero remorse. This is medical negligence. This is unprofessional conduct. This clinic should be investigated. Please don't risk your pet's life by going here. I AM BEGGING YOU. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED PET HERE. I sadly made the mistake of bringing my precious 4 y/o English Bulldog here during a very stressful and upsetting medical episode. It also in an area where I do not live, I work in the area so relied on work neighbors to give me ideas of emergency clinics and just ran off the bat to one that was 10 minutes away. While I was driving, my precious scampi vomited. And from what I know now she got aspirated pneumonia from that vomiting episode. Nothing else was wrong with her before this one little episode where she swallowed her vomit by mistake ending up taking her life. After her vomiting episode, she had trouble catching her breath and kept vomiting a little more and ended up becoming blood coming out when she was vomiting . It was never much, but definitely extremely concerning and she could never catch her breath. She was breathing so heavy. I ran her to the emergency vet after working with them with quotes and care matters, I left her in their trusted care. Long story short, after 9 hours being there, at 11:30pm they call me and said they didn't think she would make it. This caught me extremely off guard because I hadn't heard anything concerning between when I dropped her off and 9 hours later. I arrived in a panic around midnight and unfortunately saw my dog pass in front of my eyes, in the worst condition you could think of from a vet. She couldn't breathe. How could they let her suffering to breathe for so long??? How did her condition go so, extremely downhill from when I left her in trusted hands?? The imagines in my mind of her passing away shortly after I got there are traumatizing. I am happy she saw me and finally gave up her fight with me there but she should not have been fighting that hard. It took me a few weeks to finally look over the final bills. And, shocker (sarcasm) the bill came to a difference of 55 cents from the 75% down payment I made for 24 hours of care and my girl wasn't not even in their "care" for 12 hours. I looked up every single line item on the bill. And from what I can gather, they 100% mistreated and overdosed my dog. My girl was only 36lbs and they gave her 10 different medications within the 9 hours she was alive there. And one of the medications they claim they gave her 10 doses and several tablets. They were also only treating her for vomiting, and the side effects of the medication were loss of breathing, WHICH WAS THE MAIN ISSUE, BREATHING(all bulldog owners know this is huge!)!! Either they fluffed their bill to not give me a refund or they overdosed and murdered my dog. I am leaning towards the latter because of the horrible condition I saw my girl in. I truly do not think they know how to handle these short nosed breeds. DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!! When confronting them, they ignore your calls until finally an office "manager" may call you back and all they continue say is "our vets know the right practice and procedures, blah blah." NO, they do not! Look at other reviews here, especially about bulldogs . I even asked them about the $500 charge for CPR because I was there when it all happened. I told them to stop about 10 seconds in because it was not worth it, she would just suffer if she came back. The "manager" claims otherwise , that they have procedures and they always get these injections etc. well my girl did not get any injections to try to revive her because I was there. I told them to look back on video, because again, I was there. Overall, do not bring your dog, cat, or any other animal here because they are to not be trusted. They killed my dog. My dog was not struggling nearly as when I dropped her off to the point, 9 hours later, the biggest struggle and her passing in front of my eyes. Advanced was absolutely amazing. I called around 7:45pm as I have never been before and asked if we could come in for an emergency. Our doggie was out in the backyard and sliced his whole paw pad open very deep on something metal buried in the ground. He was bleeding profusely and we knew we had to take him somewhere. The lady who answered the phone was so sweet and helpful. We arrived around 8pm and check in was easy once we got there even for a first time visitor and the nurses were spectacular. We were in a room by 8:15pm and they re-bandaged his paw for us. They gave him pain meds and the doctor came in to see him and explain everything they were going to do. He needed to be put under anesthesia and stitched up. Price was provided up front and everything was itemized. They took him back around 9:15pm and told us at 10:45pm that everything went well and he was coming out of anesthesia. By 11:45pm we were in a room and reunited and the doctor explained everything she did and our treatment plan. The nurse came in after with his meds and re-explained everything to us as well. Check out was easy and the lady at the front was so sweet. Our fur baby is due for a bandage change in 2-3 days and we plan on coming back here rather than to our regular vet as the experience was so great. Being open 24/7 is amazing and they told us if we have any questions, no matter the time to give them a call and they will help. Really appreciate the level of care we were given here, form the front desk to the nurses and the doctor. It's taken me a while to write this because, as much as this facility provides an invaluable medical service, my last visit made it clear that there is always room for improvement. I believe it would serve pet parents well for the staff and doctors to remember that people don't show up at your door--especially at night, on a weekend, or on a weekend night--because they need a routine check-up or want to spend a significant amount of money. Most loving pet owners arrive in a state of mild to severe panic, often already grieving, knowing that the news they're about to receive is likely to be devastating. When a pet parent comes in and explains that their beloved companion has suffered multiple major seizures in a short time--that he's foaming at the mouth, collapsing, convulsing, disoriented, limp, and unresponsive even after medication--they are not making a decision to euthanize lightly. In moments like these, when someone requests a humane end to their pet's suffering, it may not be helpful--or kind--for multiple staff members to ask if they want to try "something else." While I understand that, sadly, there are people who may give up on a pet at the first sign of inconvenience, I would hope that your team can read the room. This is an emergency veterinary facility, operating after hours--chances are, most people who walk through your doors are desperate and heartbroken, not irresponsible. Our baby was only two years old. We rescued him from a terrible situation knowing there could be challenges ahead, but we never expected them so soon. We walked into your office already grieving the loss we knew was coming. We could barely speak, barely process what was happening. And yet, we left feeling judged. We were so disoriented by the experience that we even questioned whether he had truly passed--whether he had simply been sedated and taken to be "fixed." Avoid at all costs! Unethical billing practices, medical negligence, and a complete lack of accountability. My experience with Advance Care Veterinary Hospital has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I am writing this review to warn others before they suffer as I did. After my beloved cat, Ms. Livingston, underwent emergency surgery, I was hit with a bill of over $8,000, covered mainly by Trupanion insurance. Trupanion clearly outlined in their Explanation of Benefits what I was responsible for paying. Despite this, Stephanie Palmer, the hospital's billing manager, demanded an additional payment without justification. When I asked her to correct the error, she refused to acknowledge the issue, ignored my emails, and refused to meet with me at the front desk. Worse, she used the situation to coerce payment by refusing to release my pet unless I paid the disputed amount, even though I had already paid thousands. This is not only unethical, but it borders on coercive business behavior. While this financial pressure was ongoing, I also experienced what I consider to be severe medical negligence from Dr. Stephanie High. During my cat's emergency hospitalization, Dr. High refused to provide any updates on my pet's condition, despite repeated requests. In an emergency setting, withholding medical updates from the pet's legal owner is inexcusable and potentially life-threatening. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated in any veterinary practice, let alone one claiming to provide critical care. To make matters worse, I asked to speak with the facility's owner, Dr. Toll, and the front desk flatly refused even to attempt to locate him. This kind of stonewalling and deflection of responsibility is deeply troubling, especially when it involves an animal's health and life. The prices charged at this facility are shockingly inflated, far exceeding those of well-known specialty centers like SEVN and ACCESS, which are far better equipped and staffed. Advance Care's pricing appears predatory, especially when coupled with their refusal to follow insurance guidelines. Sadly, my 4-month-old French Bulldog puppy experienced a rectal prolapse on November 20. Our first stop was Central Broward Vet, where they evaluated her and determined that she needed surgery, referring us to Advanced Veterinarian Care Center. We arrived at Advanced Vet Care Center on 11/20 at around 5 PM. They took my pup back right away for examination, and returned with a quote and 3-4 brochure options from companies that offered lines of credit. The first red flag was that the veterinarian never came to explain the procedure or discuss what was wrong with our puppy. There was also no conversation about recovery or what to expect afterward. We received a statement that included two quotes: one for a 24-hour stay and another for a 48-hour stay. The quotes required a 70% deposit for the more expensive option. told that the final quote may differ from the initial deposit; if it is less, I will only be charged that amount and receive a refund if total is less than deposit. We paid a deposit of $3,095 through CareCredit and were informed that the procedure would take place that night. We were told we would receive a call once it was completed. On Wednesday night, after 9 PM, we received a call stating that the procedure was finished and that it went well. We can pick up Nova tomorrow, on Thursday, November 21st, which we did a at 5:45 PM. On Friday, November 22nd, in the morning, we noticed our puppy's rectum protruding again and returned her to Advanced Vet. They took her back right away and came back with a quote for a deposit of over $2,000. We were confused that this vet office would charge us again for the same problem and procedure that was done in their office less than 24 hours after her being discharged from their care. I had a phone conversation with the vet, who falsely claimed that we were informed about the possibility of this situation happening again and that we had the option of having our pet undergo surgery but chose the cheaper route instead. She also had the audacity to suggest that we give our dog to a family that could afford her medical expenses, as if the average pet owner has thousands of dollars readily available for such costs. Furthermore, she implied that we were seeking something for free after we had already paid a deposit of $3,095 to the vet center 48hours Prior. Our conversation became heated when I stated that I wouldn't be giving them another red cent. I ended the call, leaving my husband to discuss the matter further with their office manager. Eventually, they reached an agreement: they would repeat the procedure if we agreed to pay for the sedation, which we did at a cost of $500. After completing the procedure, they called us that evening to say our pet was ready to be picked up. However, they informed us that if we wanted her to be observed over the weekend, there would be an additional fee of approximately $400 per night. There was another heated conversation because we felt uncomfortable picking her up, fearing the same situation would occur again when our pup had another bowel movement. They could not explain why she needed to stay for 24-48 hours the first time for observation, but was not observed during her second visit. Why didn't they monitor her bowel movement the first time to determine if the procedure was successful? We brought our dog, Harper, to Advanced Veterinary Care at about 11:30 pm on a Wednesday night when she appeared to have some type of allergic reaction after her night time walk. Her mouth was completely swollen and droopy, her eyes were getting puffy, and she had red hives all over her belly. We first called Advanced to make sure that they were open. When we arrived, we had to fill out paperwork and a tech came and took our dog to the back. We were the only ones in the waiting room and my husband and I waited for about 15 minutes until they assigned us a room and we could see our dog. (Waiting room was extremely clean with plenty of seating.). By the time they brought Harper back to us, the swelling had already gone down significantly. They told us to wait for the doctor and after about five minutes, Dr. De Oliveira came in. She was friendly and talked to us in a soothing and unrushed manner. She wasn't just going through the motions; she seemed to truly want to help Harper. She explained that she had given Harper a steroid shot and a dose of Benadryl, and that this was most likely some type of insect bite or sting. She was pleased with how Harper was recovering and had us wait there for about 15 more minutes. She also suggested that we follow up with a few days of additional Benadryl at home. I had read the other Yelp reviews while I was waiting, and we were dreading getting the bill for an emergency visit. I couldn't believe it when the charge was just $209. I know emergency care is expensive and I feel like this was an extremely fair price. (I probably would have paid about the same amount at my regular vet if they were open.). It is comforting to know that Advanced Veterinary Care is so close by because we were extremely happy with the level of care and pricing. I won't hesitate to bring one of my animals there in the future if an emergency situation arises. read more

I can't thank Advanced Veterinary Care Center enough. I firmly believe that my dog is currently alive and fighting because of them. Beck's story is a long one, but the compassion, and their mission to find out what was wrong with him led to stabalizing him. Now we wait for our internal med appointment which we are also going through Advanced Veterinary Care Center as we were impressed by what we saw and how we were taken care of. They let us visit Beck no matter the time and call for updates. They even call YOU! The nurses are ALL amazing but a huge shout out to Maydah who made us feel like family. She made such a scary situation and every situation after that bearable with her positive energy and attitude. We are so glad to have come accross such a magnificent place. read more

THIS ESTABLISHMENT WATCHED MY DOG IN DISTRESS FOR OVER 2 HOURS AND DID NOTHING. NEGLIGENT. Wish I could give this establishment 0 stars. Brought my dog in for a post op exam because the neutering surgery THIS establishment performed did not work (see pics of his engorged sack.). They would not let me make a post op appointment and said they were walk in only....? And then proceeded to let a dog with severe anxiety sit in distress for over 2 hours. He hyperventilated for over 2 and a half hours while waiting to be seen. Told the staff and they did nothing and left my dog in distress. Said it was not an emergency and they are medical professionals who know what an emergency is.... Had to leave because my dog was in such bad distress and I couldn't take seeing him like that any longer. It was so sad. I WAS STILL BILLED for an exam and other procedures even though I never saw a doctor or got any results. This is negligence and fraud. I'll pay when I get results. This is a long overdue review... our Corgi had not been doing well for almost a year prior to taking her here. When we woke up that morning, we knew it was "time" and of course it was on a Sunday so our regular vet was closed. A friend had previously told me about this place a couple of years ago when her dog passed and had highly recommended this place so I gave them a call and explained what was going on. They took our info over the phone and told us to bring our dog in. They have a designated room for you to spend as much time as you need with your pet. We were never rushed or made to feel that we had to leave. They let you know that when you're ready, you can push a button which lets them know that you are ready for them. A couple of weeks after our dog passed, we received our pet's paw print which was set in plaster and a nice card from the staff. The staff were so compassionate and respectful during the whole ordeal. They made an unpleasant experience somewhat peaceful and comforting. read more

To say our experience there was negative is like saying the sun is bright - I brought in our dog, who had a life-threatening emergency late at night - the staff was fine and the vet was competent, but the issue was as follows: once I got there, I was told that the cost for having him seen and taken care of overnight would run 600-800, but, after they took him in back, and after a lengthy wait, I was presented with an estimate that ran over 3000 with all kinds of tests that my vet was going to run next week anyway - I took a look and said no - then they made another estimate for over 2000 and again I said no - then they had me sign an AMA form as the danger had passed and I paid the 800 bill and took our dog home - it was simple extortion to hand a distressed pet owner such a bill and took a LOT of gall to do this iwth a straight face - my wife had to explain the law to them regarding the fact their estimate was in conflict with the law - if there are ANY other options, take them... read more

From the receptionist to the technicians to the nurse to the doctor they were so caring so thoughtful and helpful. It made a very stressful experience that more tolerable. The staff immediately went into action caring for him and even took time easing our fears. From surgery to after care they used cutting-edge strategies to ensure his care, comfort, and informing us. Dr. A is such a treasure and we didn't meet a single mean/rude person on the staff - they're all so lovely!
