I called at 1:15 on a Thursday after my regular vet couldn't take Benji even tho I called at 8:00 am The person that answered the phone was so caring & understanding when I told her Benji was peeing blood, not a little, a lot. She said let me move a client and we can see Benji at 4:30 Upon arrival I was greeted by friendly people at desk. I filled out paperwork and was seen within 10 minutes. The tech asked questions and I told her all about the situation. I said I would like a x-ray done because his previous vet never did one. Benji had bladder infections in the past. They said let's do some bloodwork and a X-ray. I was given a written estimate before they did anything, which I appreciated. The vet came in after his X-ray and said yes Benji has bladder stones. She took me to the X-ray room and showed me the films. I was in shock that poor Benji wasn't in pain . She then explained all my options and I said I want them removed, I don't want to take the chance of them getting bigger or causing further damage. We decided to do all his pre op tests and bloodwork and scheduled surgery for Monday. Day of surgery everything went smoothly, except she found 20 small stones that were hiding She was able to remove them all. Benji stayed overnight for observation. I picked him up Tuesday, got all of his instructions and we went home. I would definitely recommend Dr.karina Falcon she was very caring and super nice. Initially I wasn't going to write a review on this veterinarian office but after going to another vet this week I changed my mind. I brought my cat in last week, and after less than 5 minutes the tech and the veterinarian told me that my cat was too crazy to examine and they would have to sedate her to examine her. I took her to another vet today and neither he nor the tech had any issues with an exam. Horrible that after less than 5 minutes they wanted to put her out to do an exam. Again the other vet I went to this week had no issues. Of course Nova still charged me for the visit. read more

I called to make an appointment, and it was easy enough. The reception was nice and accommodating. I arrived the day of my appointment and was checked in. I waited for about 10-15 minutes in the lobby before they took me to a room. Once in the room, I noticed that it wasn't the cleanest. There was some stuff on the floor and in the corners. The assistant came in to see what my visit was about. I was there for vaccinations and a wellness check. She came back a short bit later with a breakdown of the costs. I told her to move ahead. The doc came in next. She did a pretty thorough check of my pup. I inquired about the cost of a dental. They said they'd get back to me. When done, my pup got all of her vaccines, anal glands done, and a fecal test. The bill was $400ish, which I thought was pretty high. I was told to return in two weeks for the 2nd part of two of the shots. I returned and she got the shots--I was then charged $100 more. I thought I had already paid for them in the $400. Nope, so now that round of vaccines and a wellness check was now $500+!!! I used to pay less than that for TWO dogs! When I inquired about the super high charge, I was told that prices have gone up. The receptionist told me I need to get pet insurance if I had an issue with it. Unbelievable! THEN, when they gave me the cost for a dental, it was ridiculous! About $800+. I called my old vet, and the price was $400 with ALL the same items/services included. I feel like this vet is way overpriced. I'll be going back to my old vet. read more

I know it can be hard to choose a vet with so many options available especially with something serious going on with your pet, but after reading reviews for the ones in my local area I settled on here and I'm so glad I did. They diagnosed my boy with a tumor which no pet owner ever wants to hear but they treated him and me with the best care I could've asked for and with their treatment he stayed with me even longer than expectations. I never felt like they were pushing for extra charges or extra unnecessary tests once through the whole process, in fact they tried to save me money wherever they could. Save Yourself Time, Heartache, and Money! I deeply regret bringing my 5-year-old Cane Corso, Max, to Nova Animal Hospital. Our experience was a costly, frustrating, and heartbreaking ordeal that left us with more questions than answers. On October 24, we brought Max in because he wasn't acting normal and had stopped eating. The vet, Dr. Rodriguez, drew blood, sent us home, and called the next day to say Max was in kidney failure with dangerously high kidney values. She recommended expensive hospitalization, but due to financial constraints, we opted to continue his care at home. From the beginning, Dr. Rodriguez was GUESSING that Max had ingested a toxin. On October 26, since Max wasn't improving, we paid extra for stat bloodwork, which showed slight improvement. Dr. Rodriguez mentioned that high calcium levels could indicate cancer but continued to focus on toxins rather than suggesting testing for cancer. At this appointment we agreed to give Max subcutaneous iv fluids to see if that would help. Desperate for answers, we agreed to an ultrasound and to hospitalize Max for a day to give him more fluids--another costly procedure. Dr. Rodriguez described this as a "hail Mary" and suggested euthanasia might be necessary. The ultrasound results were inconclusive, so she recommended we pay even more to have a radiologist review it. The radiologist found no kidney abnormalities. Still desperate for answers, I sought advice in Facebook groups and scheduled an appointment with another local vet. Before the appointment, I stopped by Nova to ask Dr. Rodriguez a question and was told I had to pay $75 just to speak with her--despite already spending hundreds of dollars with no clear answers. I paid, and unsurprisingly, she continued guessing that toxins were to blame. On November 4, we saw another vet who immediately referred us to a specialist. On November 6, the oncologist at Broward Veterinary Specialists confirmed Max had lymphoma--a common condition in dogs. While this diagnosis is devastating, we're grateful to finally have answers and a treatment plan to give Max more quality time. What's deeply concerning is that lymphoma was never mentioned as a possible cause by Nova Animal Hospital, even though it's a well-known condition. Instead, they kept charging us for procedures and tests that led nowhere, wasting valuable time and resources. Nova Animal Hospital failed Max and us during a critical time. They prioritized costly guesswork over a proper referral to a specialist, ultimately prolonging Max's suffering and our anguish. If you love your pet, I urge you to think twice before trusting this clinic with their care. Since my $75 visit Nova has not called to check on Max, which is further evidence of their lack of compassion and prioritization of profits. read more

Dr. Formoso and the staff at Nova Animal Hospital are caring and gentle with the animal patients and the human end of the leash. Some dogs (and cats) have anxiety or aggression when being handled by the vet, and I found the staff there to be familiar with low-stress handling techniques, and very open to working with the owner to find ways to make the visit less stressful. My husband and I love Nova Animal Hospital! We have been taking our two Mini Golden Doodles here for 6 months now, ever since we moved to South Florida. The location is a little hard to find, you will drive right past it if you aren't paying attention. But the second we walked in we knew we would be staying, it has a small town feel and all the staff are so nice! They loved our first Doodle from the second we walked in the door, and were so excited for us when we got our second one! The place is a little pricey but everything is expensive when you have two doodles and since our babies are 8 months and 4 months we have to go very often to get them all of their puppy shots! But in our opinion it's worth it! Nova was very helpful in taking the time to explain the shots they were giving and why our puppies needed them! They also gave us the option to say no to things we didn't think were necessary. I took the time to read some of the other reviews and really disagree with the bad ones left, that's why I took the time to write this. Obviously everyone has an opinion and they have that right! But some of these people just don't sound nice. Everyone has a bad day at some point and maybe some of the bad reviewers went on bad days! My teddy became a patient of Nova Animal Hospital after Wags & Tails closed First when you walk thru the door you are always greeted with a smile and acknowledgement. My teddy is about 18 years, I rescued him in 2008. Always good health however age is catching up, and after many visits to Nova Animal ....Dr A and Shelley took so much time with us, not once making me feel like his life didn't matter because of his age. After we had an Xray, Dr A, explained in detail her thoughts that might be an infection in his lungs, but would know more after the tech reads the Xray however they gave me Antibiotics .... all i can say my little t-man is acting like he is 12 again, has his energy back, he is acting like a puppy again. We know the time will come when he becomes an angel, but right now I get to have more time with the love of my life. This place is highly over priced and very poor on service! I took my dachshund there and was told to switch his food. This gave him and his sister diarrhea. They gave me five pills of an anti diarrhea medication. Needing more I contacted Chewy since they only charge 60 cents per pill. I guess they wanted me to come back in and pay $5 a pill again along with another office visit fee. Now a few months later chewy tells me the vet won't renew my dogs trifexis prescription that needs to be given to my dog two weeks before annual physical and rabies shot. They denied the trifexis also saying I had to bring my dogs in early to get this renewed. I'm sorry my money is a little tight this week and I need to wait until next week when I get paid. So my pups have to go without their monthly medication until I can afford another $200 for the office visits? Well my answer is that now I need a vet that will let me get my prescriptions from chewy or charge me less for them. Any suggestions? So wish I had been more diligent in picking a vet when I got my babies. read more

I rescued 7 beautiful kittens at just 4 weeks old. At 7 weeks I brought them into Dr. Erica Blanco for their first appointment. The staff and technicians were exceptional. I visited Nova Animal Hospital about a dozen years ago, and the veterinarian wanted to charge my daughter over $35 for a very small container of triple antibiotic cream. When I asked him what the difference was between the cream he was selling me and another triple antibiotic cream in Walgreens or CVS he said "none." I felt like a mark up of 7 to 10 times the retail cost was excessive, and we never went back there. Flash forward to June 4, 2017, I brought my dog's Rabies Certificate to Nova Animal Hospital as they were listed as an agent of Broward County to sell dog tags. A very pleasant woman asked if she could help me, but when I asked to purchase a dog tag she said it was their "policy not to sell dog tags unless the dog received the the rabies vaccine from Nova Animal Hospital." After speaking with Broward County Animal Services we should expect that Nova Animal Hospital will either follow the county's procedure or be removed from Broward County's list of agents. This place is within walking distance from my home! They have missed a second opportunity to make me a customer. read more

I usually pass it by mistake. It's very hidden and it's not too far from the Aveda Beauty School. They are very attentive, honest yet direct. Vet visits can add up if your bundle of furry joy has tics or flees, so be sure to bring extra money. Just to give you a run through of what to expect they will do the following: Weigh your furry friend Examine your furry friend's eye vision, ears and paws. ***They clip their nails if you ask! feel their coat for flea's or tics They check their teeth too! *** They will also help you put your pet BACK in the carrier before you leave if you own a cat. (It's always a fight for me to catch my cat) After the basics are over , if you came for a specific issue, they will ask you questions pertaining to when the weird behavior started. Setting an appointment is very easy and they only TAKE APPOINTMENTS. Be sure to call in before you come in. Overall, I have absolutely no complaints and will continue to bring my cat. read more

I visited this hospital for the first time about a month ago. The experience was okay, the vet was very informative and nice. I did notice they like to up charge you on tests and other unnecessary items. My pup has a skin tests done (a scraping) that took two weeks to get the results. I never received a call with the results. I had to call them. After a few weeks my pup had started itching pretty bad. Called to get the results and to see what I could do for his itchiness and she immediately asked if we would like to give him a shot for his itchy skin. It would be $82. Yeah... no. I like this place! I didn't have to wait very long to be seen, and best of all it is a single-Doctor practice so the lobby was not ridiculously crowded and noisy. The staff is very nice, and the tech handled my old guy very nicely and gently in the exam room. I found the fees to be quite reasonable and of course Dr. Formoso is very nice! I felt very comfortable with her recommendations and approach to my dog's care. The decor is outdated and the hospital is kind of dimly lit which was a little strange. However it is my understanding that the vet bought the place less than a year ago, and these things take time and lots of money. I finally found a vet for Sam!!! I had been bouncing back and forth between vets in south Florida and Maryland for my little guy-partially because I travel with him. He was fixed in Maryland and had most of his puppy shots there when he was teeny tiny, and then I came to a vet in FL and got ripped off. But I digress. I need to board Sam this weekend and was told he needed proof of bordetella. When I called the last vet where he had it done and it was expired-they are evidently 6 months. So I needed one quick. I called nova animal hospital and they got me in the next day at a time that was convenient to me. Yay! I went in a few minutes early to a super clean office that didn't smell like most vets do and had one simple page of paperwork. I was brought back very quickly and the techs were AMAZING. Sam loved them. Dr. Romero was great, came in and did a quick exam, gave him his intranasal and answered my few questions easily and we were out in no time. I was given no sales pitches which is a big deal to me. She told me when to come back for his next round of shots and gave Sam lots of treats! Checkout was super simple, I was charged less than I was quoted on the phone (yay!!!) and on the back of their card is a recipe for doggie cookies. I was told I would get a reminder postcard when I need to come back. How much more could I ask for? read more

Absolutely fantastic. I could not be happier with Dr. Formoso and the Nova Animal Hospital staff. I have been taking my 2 cats to see her for 4 years. Dr. Formoso has handled every one of my cats' issues including eye infections, mosquito allergies, blood work/ routine care, and dental problems. One of my cats is particularly difficult to deal with at the vet, but Dr. Formoso and the handlers always get everything done efficiently, professionally, and with minimal stress on the cat. This doctor just almost killed my dog and I called her the b word I will revisit this post when I collect my senses. The cardiologist told her to give the antibiotic but her greedy p O s thinks she knows more than him. Sorry lady my dogs life surpasses your ego. How dare you question her cardiac dr all he asked was to repeat her meds. All she cares about is her ego. Vets give antibiotics if a dog farts and now when her dr says to give it she refuses! Refusing a dog antibiotics that has a collapsed lung? What is the reasoning? Honestly the callous and egotistical behavior of this vet is sad. I will ask questions that pertain to my dogs health! If you want your patients to be sheep and say yes ma'am then you have major issues. I had to pay another vet in the middle of the night to get her antibiotics. My already stressed and sick dog had to see another vet and I had to incur the extra expenses. The other vet obviously concurred with her dr and sent her home.
