    Huey (Rip)

100% recommend this er vet. Dr Marti saved my dog Huey's life, and gave me great resources to continue his care. Unfortunately, he had a terminal cancer. And when it was time to put him down, I went back to VEG because I knew I could trust them. Another veterinarian (I forget his name because I was a bit traumatized), was so honest and helped my dog peacefully go over the rainbow bridge. In contrast to other places, VEG will allow you to stay beside your pet 100% of the time. The nurses and doctors really care. I hope no one NEEDS to go to this place, but if you do I feel there's no better ER. Also, the prices seemed fair for an emergency clinic.

All the staff were warm and welcoming. My little 8 pound Biewer terrier was very comfortable and not afraid of anyone because they were so nice. I really like the open air feel rather than getting put into a room for treatment !

I came here for a chamber of commerce meeting. Got a tour of the whole facility which is very large around 6,000 square feet. Everything is out in the open so you can see what's going on if your pet needs surgery Etc. One thing I really liked about this place is that they told me that when you bring your pet in you never wait more than a few minutes, there's always enough doctors on staff to make sure your animal is not in critical condition. They also have rooms with pull-out couches so you can sleep overnight if your animal needs to stay there. They only treat emergencies no preventative care. The doctors and staff seem very nice.

I have always had fantastic service at each VEG I've used. My dog had a foreign body obstruction and her needs were beyond what her general vet was able to provide. I went to one emergency hospital for overnight hospitalization and was very unimpressed by what I experienced. I then went to VEG Ft Lauderdale and was warmly greeted by the staff. Dr. Casali took detailed note of the timeline and treatments my dog had received so far. He was able to communicate his expected treatment plan, at what point that treatment plan could change (depending on response to each step of treatment), and then performed the foreign body surgery. My dog spent 33 hours at VEG, and each nurse that tended to my dog was fantastic and caring. Nahyr, Brit, and Hannah took fantastic care of not only my dog, but of me as I did not leave my dog's side. My dog is a fearful dog, and all of the staff took care to respect her needs. By the end of our time at VEG, my dog was able to be hand-fed by Nahyr and even took a liking to her. In addition to the nurses, the front desk staff were also caring and attentive. As every pet parent hopes to never experience an emergency with their pet, I take comfort in knowing the staff at VEG are ready to take on the challenges this field brings. As someone who has been in the animal welfare field for 19 years, I can safely say Dr. Casali and the whole team at VEG are the example to follow.

I am a licensed wildlife rehabber in the Tampa Bay Area. I specialize in Raccoons and utilize both Tampa VEG locations. They are wonderful. They see wildlife at no charge to the rehabber. When a girl down in Fort Lauderdale reached out to me about a raccoon she saw get hit by a car, I had her rush it to this VEG location. I sent my license over to them and they agreed to care for the raccoon and do X-rays to check for injuries. They told me they would have to charge, but it would be discounted. I agreed to pay the bill because what other choice did I have? And I also understand that they don't have the same program that the VEG locations here have. No big deal. I paid the $825. X-rays came back with no injury. While still searching for a rehabber local to the lady that has her, she kept her in her garage. At 2:30am (on 2/26), she found blood in the cage. With no visible external bleeding, and being unable to get ahold of me for advice, she did what anyone else would do and rushed her back to this VEG location. She was shocked to find that where they were kind and empathetic before, the team she was met with was cold, uncaring, and seemingly unwilling to help her. She frantically tried getting ahold of me, unsuccessfully. She was willing to pay the bill, she just wanted this raccoon to get the care in desperately needed and deserved. While there, they witnessed it defecate blood. Common sense would lead most people to think maybe there is an internal injury. What would be done for a dog or cat? That was not done here. When they asked her what she wanted them to do, she said "in a perfect world, a veterinarian would be here and the rescue would be answering" and they said "yeah, that's in a perfect world." Indicating there was no vet there. Now they are claiming there WAS a vet there by the name of Dr. Prito (not sure of spelling). They told her to bring the raccoon to Wildlife Center of Florida and leave it in the carrier for them to find in the morning. If you go to their website, they CLEARLY state not to do this. They want you to keep the animal in a safe space until the morning when they open. Fortunately, the lady that brought her in knew that wasn't the right thing to do and said no. At this point the young man (Anthony) who was "helping" her told her to surrender the raccoon over to VEG and he PROMISED her he would bring it to Wildlife Center of Florida. He promised to text her updates and never did. At this point I knew it wasn't good, but was still hopeful. I managed to get ahold of the Medical Director at this VEG to get to the bottom of things. He immediately laughed at me and told me "yeah, it was euthanized. We sent the head off for testing." Shocked, I asked him WHY? He said "it tried to bite a member of my staff and we have to test it for rabies." TRIED. She did NOT bite them. Like any scared animal, she lashed out. How could you euthanize an innocent animal for that? Because it's a raccoon? I'm appalled and will be filing a report with the state as this is unethical behavior from veterinary professionals.

I have had to come to VEG numerous times. I have 5 pets and 2 that are frequent fliers. I do not have the words to express how much this place means to me. I have had animals throughout my whole life and have seen it all in animal hospitals or so I thought. VEG is compassionate, professional and crystal clear in their care and pricing. I had to visit again recently because a dog attacked me and my Beau. My dog needed stitches and had eye lacs. They handled him perfectly and even cared to assist me as I refused to go to the hospital until my puppy was cared for. Dr Coleman and Peggy were stars! They went above and beyond even when I had concerns about my puppies seizures. They did extra steps to keep me at ease, they heard what I was scared of and made sure to attend to that fear and explained what they would do before service to my puppy to make sure in any situation they were prepared. I trust VEG with my life and my animals. I am so happy that they are here in the community. Thank you for everything you do!

Happy healthy boy! Thanks to VEG

This is my go-to place! I have an almost 4 year old Doberman that has been through all sorts of ups and downs with health - from countless GI bugs to the most recent bronchopneumonia after a beach day! We were in and out in about 2 hours total including a triage/physical, medications, blood work and chest X-rays, plus the final plan! The service that Dr.Prieto and Kevin provided for us and our dobie boy was nothing short of stellar! We are so grateful for their care and couldn't have trusted our fur son with better folks! Thank you all for everything you do for our fur babies, it means the world!

My 11-year-old pup Bella she is a pitbull mix with mastiff and hound started losing weight from 58 to 50 lbs in estimated five days. I went to my normal vet which is wonderful Stevens animal Hospital ( Patient for 10 years ) we saw Dr Lucy , Where they did every test possible, including bloodwork, Addison's testing, cancer, testing, x-rays, and ultrasounds,. Only thing found was low red blood cells. Otherwise she's A wonderful and healthy dog. The best anybody could ask for. They put her On antibiotics and steroids and recommended a blood transfusion. I did my due diligence and called around. All I can get You have to come in and pay for an evaluation. No one would confirm they had the blood, which was unsettling to me. Not to even say arrange or confirm blood is available. Then I called VEG - Veterinary emergency group in Fort Lauderdale. I spoke to a really nice woman on the phone and then transferred me directly to a doctor. Doctor said we do have blood And we can do a transfusion if needed an estimated cost would be around $2000 to $2500 it can be More if she needs medicines. That was very assuring to me. I called Stevens animal Hospital later that day and spoke to my vet veterinarian again to ensure it was the right hospital and they said absolutely you can go through the whole procedure with them bed side start to finish. It's a great place. That night about 8:30 PM we brought her in. They had her tested. Had the blood transferred and started the transfusion around 12 PM. Midnight Anthony was one of her Vet tech technicians. He was wonderful couldn't ask for a more compassionate educational person to go through an emergency like this by 6 PM. She was done and discharged. It hasn't even been two days and she's already gained 2 pounds and she's becoming normal again. The diagnostics was $1100 and the transfusion was $2100 She's only 11 And relatively healthy. $3200 is the least I can do for her. She's the light of everybody's life when you meet her. Tomorrow Tuesday, her Addison's and additional bloodwork come back to see if there is a diagnosis. Fingers crossed. Dr. Stevens animal Hospital and veterinary emergency group. Are wonderful and caring. Dr. Lucy or the staff calls every few days with information if they have it on the testing. Update 12-6-25 Bella saw Dr. Lucy again at Stevens animal Hospital, where they did bloodwork on Tuesday and Friday. We are waiting to talk to a internist specialist to see if we can add additional medications as needed She is stable, but definitely has non-regenerative anemia We are still in a wait to see pattern as the medicines do their job She is stable now, but may need another transfusion which we will definitely go back to VEG if needed We are all praying for Bella. There's still a good chance. She'll start making her red blood cells again. 12-9-25 hello is still stable 10 days after the blood transfusion. She's doing better than everyone expected but not out of the woods yet. Added one more medication and will take good day by day . May have to go for one more blood transfusion Well definitely go back to veterinary emergency group.

The pricing was also more reasonable compared to other clinics, and we appreciated the availability of QR codes linking to resources for emergency financial assistance. Additionally, the clinic offered a meaningful discount for cash payment, which made a significant difference for us. Overall, I am extremely grateful for the care my kitten received. This was one of the most traumatic experiences my family has ever gone through. I brought my dog to VEG because he was repeatedly vomiting and we were terrified something was seriously wrong. Instead of leaving feeling that everything possible had been done for him, we left without our dog and with serious questions about his care. From my experience, the entire process felt more like a money-making assembly line than compassionate emergency veterinary care. Every step seemed to involve another charge, another estimate, and another financial decision while we were scared and emotionally vulnerable. I understand emergency veterinary care is expensive, and I was willing to spend whatever I reasonably could to save my dog. What bothered me was how much the financial side seemed to dominate the experience. After stating what was going on with my dog, I asked to give him X-Ray to find out what was going on. They insisted on bloodwork first and diagnostics to charge me $1700. Then they decided to do the X-Ray which was determined all along that he swallowed something. My dog had swallowed an underwear and was actually able to pass it. But this is why question the practice. My dog was in good spirits at this time. Not until the harsh abdominal examination by Dr. M that he was given that even my son said why so hard, my dog's condition worsened. He started vomiting again then diarrhea with blood. For less work for them, they added a rectal tube. At this point he had not passed the article of clothing but it was almost there. I'm in the medical field and questioned. How are going to add a rectal tube if he needs to pass an item. They said it's fine and gave me some excuse adding more distress to my poor dog. At this point, everything went down hill. I felt increasingly pressured toward euthanasia. I am now left wondering whether that was truly the only option, whether more could have been done, and whether enough time was given to see if he could recover. Lack of practice, sympathy, and education lead to all this. The hardest part was the lack of compassion. When a family is facing the possible loss of a beloved pet, they deserve patience, clear explanations, alternatives, and sensitivity. Instead, I felt overwhelmed, pressured, and emotionally cornered into making a permanent decision. My dog was not just a pet. He was family. I have requested his complete medical records because I plan to have his care independently reviewed. I never received an exact explanation of our dog's care and what they were going to do. Just more costs. Of course, I have not received anything after requesting this. I can absolutely say that our experience was devastating and left us questioning everything. I just received a phone call saying, hey, your dog's ashes are ready. Come pick them up. I strongly encourage anyone bringing a critically ill pet here to ask detailed questions, understand every charge and treatment, and seek a second opinion if your pet is stable enough to allow it. We trusted VEG during one of the most vulnerable moments of our lives. We left heartbroken, angry, and wondering whether things could have ended differently. All this in less than 24 hours! If the owner wants to reach out to me to discuss, please feel free.

We first brought our beloved Jack there about a month ago in a very serious condition. He was suffering from acute kidney problems in addition to advanced heart disease. The team treated him with extraordinary competence and care, and he improved enough to come home and spend three more precious weeks with our family. Those weeks meant more to us than words can describe. Unfortunately, we had to return when Jack went into severe congestive heart failure and was struggling to breathe. From the moment we arrived, everyone treated him with urgency, tenderness, and respect. They placed him in oxygen, tried to stabilize him, explained every detail honestly, and gave us the time and support we needed to face the most painful decision of our lives. Jack passed away there in my arms, exactly as I wanted: close to me, surrounded by love. My husband and our children were also able to be present and participate in saying goodbye. The staff created a peaceful, private, and loving environment for us. Even during such a heartbreaking moment, they were gentle, patient, compassionate, and deeply respectful of both Jack and our family. Today, they called to let me know that Jack's ashes had arrived and were ready to be picked up. That call brought all the pain back, but it also reminded me of how thoughtfully they cared for every part of this experience--from trying to save his life to helping us honor him after his passing. Jack was not "just a dog." He was our family, our companion, and one of the greatest loves of our lives. We will forever be grateful that, during his final moments, he was surrounded by people who understood how deeply he was loved. From the moment we stepped in, we were treated with kindness and care. They took her back immediately and put us in a room. Within minutes the vet came in and told us some very difficult news and we knew she wasn't going to make it. They rushed us into a quiet room and brought her in so we could say our goodbyes before she passed. They gave her meds to help her make the transition painless. It was one of the most difficult things I've had to endure. My husband and I were devastated and heartbroken. However, the team at LeadER was incredible. They were kind, caring, understanding, and knowledgeable. They let us grieve and have as much time with our baby girl as we needed. It was the only light in that dark time. We then went to pick up her ashes a week later and noticed the had filled out a card for us. It was so unexpected but immensely appreciated. Thank you so much to the team at LeadER!

Left feeling very disappointed. I took my dog in today and…read morethe front desk person was very nice . When met with Dr. Clay Philips at first he was attentive . He said he would be back with an estimate , when the nurse came back with an estimate I had questions, Dr Philips came back in with another attitude , he was short , rude and annoyed I was asking questions about the $1600 estimate . When I told him we were going to wait it out a couple hours , he walked out of the room and closed the door . No words , just left . He was clearly annoyed I was questioning the prices . I decided to leave ,they wanted me to sign a paper at the front desk saying I am refusing care . Laqueda in the front desk continued with the rude and condescending service . I was appalled that how their behavior changed simply because I questioned the estimate . I will never come back . It felt like the doctor simply wanted my money , not to take care of my pet . They held my dog in the back until I paid the visit fee . ( which I had no problem doing ) . Once I paid , they tell someone in the back that my dog was ready to leave . Basically is a very money hungry place . They held my dog "hostage" in the back until I paid . Awful experience . Dr Clay Philips made us feel our pet didn't matter . Only how deep our pockets were .
