I took my car there to check the air conditioner/compressor and was not told or given a cost for that. Then I called and the owner said he would get back to me. and did not. I had to call several times. I told him I would pick up my car that same day. When I got there I asked for the invoice. It states A/C recharge. That is not what I asked for and as a "businessman" he should have given me that initially. He also verbally told me he took my freon out. And told me when I come back I won't have to pay for the freon. He was very gruff from the start. What makes hime think I would take it back. He did take the freon cause the next mechanic I took it to asked why it was gone. He put the price of the compressor and labor on a post it note and handed to me after I paid for them checking the problem out. I will never go back there. He needs customer service and business procedure training!!!! Post it note!!! That's real business oriented. Also, you should verbally, told me and gave me a a statement with the price. when you bring in a vehicle with no air leaks and have them remove your studded tires and mount and balance the regular tires, then you get it home and have a flat tire, point it out and get crap from the owner, whose fault is it? We have a tow truck business. My driver got stuck and they came past and he asked them to help get him out. He asked how much and the driver, Caleb gave him a price. When Caleb called me to get where to send the payment, he never once mentioned that the service was going to be any more monies than originally told. When I called in to make payment, I was being charged three times the original amount. I greatly appreciated their willingness to help us out however I felt it was very dishonest to triple the price after the service was complated. Not to even mention it to me was very upsetting. We have been in business since 1943 and honesty and customer service mean everying. read more

Hit my garage with MY CAR while backing up to line the truck up with where it needed to go. The driver had half my car hanging off the bed of the truck with 1 side of my car on the bed and the other being held up on wooden blocks that while unloading my car put a massive hole in the floor. I called and Tim agreed to fix the damage outside of using insurances (big fuckin mistake) and all he did was cut the bent metal out and CALKED a piece of metal over it from inside and called it fixed. Straight up stole my van from me and got rid of it within a week without my consent. My van was in an accident but wasn't badly damaged and they had advantage come out to tow it and the tow truck driver carelessly did extensive damage to my van far worse than anything caused by the wreck by busting out the rear side window and heavily damaging the window frame pillar with the tow truck bed. I have it on film. I immediately went to advantage to pick it up but my heart sunk when I was told I needed over $515 that day to pick it up which I didn't have and that it would also be an additional $85 per day for every day it remained there. I was also told that I wasn't allowed to get all of my belongings out of it (including my girlfriends irreplaceable photo albums and other precious items and most of my expensive power tools worth thousands of dollars.) I was unable to get the money and was heartbroken that I was basically having our family and work vehicle stolen from us but I still figured I could go up and get all the stuff out of it and likely have to just sign over the title to this crooked robbery of a business, to find out that THEY GOT RID OF MY VAN ALREADY AND ITS JUST "GONE". This isn't legal. This isn't Christian like, this isn't morally sound or legal business practice in any way! I've reached out to the chief of police but he was of no help and I feel like this crooked business and the police are teamed up together lining their pockets by screwing over people like us. The owner Tim is a terrible mechanic. I had my truck aligned and then a week later a bolt came lose that they didn't tightened. I could've died but luckily I didn't. Then I decided to call and ask what he would do to make up for it. So he then said he would tow it and fix it for free. After that it was towed to his garage then he calls me and tells me that he won't fix anything for free and that I will have to pay $75 for the tow. I then after to pay him then he calls the cops and then tells the cops it was $85 instead of $75. SO I STRONGLY ADVISE TO AVOID ADVANTAGE AUTO SERVICE LLC IN JOHNSTOWN, PA. Also he allows a drunk tow truck driver to tow your car so if you are fine with that be must guest. But I promise you will be highly dissatisfied going there find somewhere else. read more

I came into advantage with a problem with the car it was resolved quickly. The advantage auto staff was excellent in assessing what was wrong with the car. Had our car towed last Friday cause we got in an accident. Was told it would only be $100 if they kept it the weekend at their lot. I even asked the guy is that total and he said yes. Our mechanic picked it up this morning. The reason we let them keep it is cause we were told it would cost $325 if they towed it anywhere else. Surprise! Cost $475 when we went to pay this morning for them to tow it Not even a mile. And that we were told what it would be. No we weren't. What we were was lied to. I guess next time I deal with any business I'll have to be a bitch and get it in writing. Pretty sad they have no integrity and like to rip people off. I will NEVER use them again. read more

Terrible customer service. Didn't tow my vehicle where I asked them to. Hung up on me when asked why. Over charged. Left my vehicle in worse condition (i.e. grease all over). I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

Outstanding service. My Jeep broke down at 5 am on my way to Altoona and called for Advantage to come tow the Jeep. ETA was with in an hour and they met that time. Outstanding job for what I can only imagine being woke up on a Monday, after a Sunday night Steeler's game, and responding quickly. read more

THE worst towing company I have ever encountered! My son's car broke down and the ETA from Advantage was 9:47. 9:47 came and went, no tow truck. Called my insurance company who called Advantage to find out where they were. Maurice, the tow truck driver, said he was running behind on previous job and new ETA was 10:07. At 10:07 still no tow truck. Called my insurance company back and we conference called Maurice who said he told the dispatcher originally that he couldn't come tow us. So we conference called the dispatcher, Alex, who said Maurice never told him he couldn't do the job and he didn't have anything else going on as Maurice told us originally! At this point the car had been sitting for 2 hrs! We cancelled Advantage and called another tow company for service. My insurance company is now filing a complaint against Advantage towing and removing them from their list of providers. I'm guessing Maurice just didn't want to come out in the rain. Some tow truck driver he is! Never, ever use this company unless you prefer to sit along a highway waiting for a tow truck that will never show. read more

long story short..... they charged me $60 because they went one exit instead of 2 to pick up my car and told me it must be stolen. after police found it (exactly where i said it was) they picked it up and took it to there shop....not my house. finally 2 days later it gets brought to my house with no keys, no stereo, no battery and a broken leaf spring!!!! but it did come with yet another bill for $160....'that' miraculously wasnt lost or stolen. i would recommend al queda before recommending this place. read more
