The office experience was bad. There's a theme here. Others have made similar comments on Google and Yelp. Here's mine: I made an appointment online and received both email and text confirmations. I go to my appointment, the woman says that she has nothing showing for me. I respond that I made an appointment for 8:30 with Advantage. She looks up at me and says, "This is orthopedics, where are you supposed to be?" I reply that I'm supposed to be here. Again, "No, this is orthopedics, where are you supposed to be?" So I give the doctors name, who is an orthopedist, which stops her from repeating the condescending implication that I'm in the wrong location a third time, she then asks my first name and birthdate. Looks at the screen and says, I see that there was an appointment and you canceled it. I tell her that I never cancelled it. Anywho, she brings out what I assume is an office manager or combo manager and nurse, who tells me that I would have received a text to respond to for confirming the appointment, and if I hit a 2 rather than a 1 then it would be cancelled. I say that I didn't get a text. She repeats her statement again, to which I repeat my answer. After I search my phone and find the original email and text confirming my appointment, I tell her I see no other messages asking for a 1 or 2. During the ensuing discussion she says not once, not twice, but three times that she's never seen that before - implying that she's never seen a cancellation occur without the patient doing it - clearly implying it's my mistake. After I adamantly respond that there is no text as she describes in my phone, she says sorry but fortunately she has an opening in two hours. I say I can't wait that long. To which she says that she'd take me in sooner but that would put the doctor behind. Well, I guess if he has an opening in a couple hours then he wouldn't be behind after that but I guess that thought never reoccurred to her and by that time I had enough and left. So I get back home and call the main line. Very nice and competent lady doesn't give me implications that I went to the wrong location or it's my error that the appointments been canceled. She just LISTENS. She checks and finds no record that I canceled the appointment. She sees an explanation that implies a problem with an upgrade by their third party scheduling service. Well there's the answer then, thank you. Can you please tell the ladies at the office that despite them not having seen it before, there is a situation where the system, not the patient, cancelled an appointment. Yes, she will do that. But it doesn't end there unfortunately. Despite how nice and helpful this lady is in trying to get me in asap, there is a policy that all appointments require a doctor referral. My insurance doesn't require this, and after a wasted trip plus 25 minutes on the phone, I'm not inclined to make yet another call and be on hold for god knows how long to get a referral. The nice helpful lady says let me ask somebody.... After a while on hold she comes back and explains that it's their policy not because my insurance requires it, but because they've had billing problems when they don't have a referral. Hmm, I've never had that with any other of the numerous specialists I'd seen in the past ten years without a referral. Sorry, but the higher up person says that's the way it is.... so no appointment for me since I refuse to do business with nonsense. In case Advantage reads this, a couple pieces of advice from a guy who worked 25 years in insurance companies, primarily working on claims compliance audits. First, you may want to consider a different third party scheduler. If their upgrades cause appointments to be cancelled, then they do not do adequate testing before release. I can't tell you how many similar glitches I've seen in my career by software companies cutting corners. Second, if you're having a billing issue when other medical providers in the same situations don't, then you might want to look at that too. Many claims examiners in insurance companies have told me of their frustrations with some billing services never getting things right. If your appointment scheduling system is from the same entity providing your billing services, then that should tell you something. Anyway, finding a good doctor is of little relevance if you cannot even get in to see them because of lousy admin. read more

After giving this clinic almost a year to help me with my knee-4 appointments that have not been acceptable with poor attitudes towards my pain and no real treatment options even discussed other than surgery. this last time I have had it!! I only received poor customer service, had to wait many weeks for an appointment, then they just cancelled with no notice and didn't even try to make it right. they seem to have a hard time keeping competent staff. would not recommend read more

Terrible customer service and provider. Waited over an hour to see Dr.Albright, who then spent 15 min with me. The Xray tech was very rude. Will not be coming back. Portland has lots of providers. Avoid this dump like the plague. Their business office is absolutely everything that is wrong with healthcare. They tried to push me into having my knee surgery at their surgery center (where they make much more money) and when I demanded to have it done in the hospital where I could be monitored, they decided to require that I pay up front. Then they tried to overcharge me thousands of dollars. The doctors are OK. The business manager is a totally unprincipled and unethical. Please try to find a different org than this one! I can't say enough how happy I am that I choose Dr dales for my knee replacement surgery. My other knee was done by the VA. It was a two year fiasco. I'm at 1 month tomorrow and my range of motion is 4 degrees and 103 degrees. It is healing beautifully and looks great. The office staff are all very friendly and professional. Front desk staff & Dr. McCammon are wonderful! Majority of the medical staff was nice, however some lacked bed side manners. One in particular was nice in-person but when it came to asking for advice via telephone, she always came off rude and rushed. Had a few complications after surgery (both times) that could of been avoided and/or treated promptly if I was actually heard when speaking to her (since she's the 1st point of contact then the message gets relayed to Dr. McCammon) Felt like I had to self-advocate for myself because she wasn't listening at all! It's really disheartening to walk into a facility and know you won't be heard or concerns wouldn't be addressed. If it wasn't for the front desk and Dr. McCammon, I would of easily given this a 1 star due to this gal. read more

Dr. Davidson did a great job with his diagnosis and course of treatment. After the 6 week follow-up, I wouldn't know that I had adhesive capsulitis. The ordered shot and physical therapy did the trick. I would use them again if the occasion required. read more

Dr Davidson was amazing. I was in so much pain. I was sure I needed a total knee replacement. Dr Davidson said he could clean up and fix my knee joint by doing an arthroscopic procedure. This is specific to Dr. Davidson. I found him to be rude, negative, and demotivating. I came in for a number of issues with my right knee, and he was quick to tell me that any near term work would be almost hopeless. He focused almost solely on what wouldn't work and said very little would, delivering that upsetting news with no sympathy. He made comments such as "unless you're planning on dying at 65, I wouldn't recommend it" and "unless you say "I'm going to blow my brains out from the pain". What kind of way is that to talk to a new patient who is overwhelmed by all the negative news you just gave them? I will NEVER come back and would advise others to not see him. read more

I went in February to see Dr. Davison after injuring my knee. Dr. Davison had performed shoulder surgery for me 7 years ago and it was excellent. During my visit I was given a knee brace and was told I would only be max 20% out of pocket for the $800 brace. I verified twice that would be my max, was told yes. I have sense been billed $599 for the brace which retails at $129. I have been calling once a week since , 5 weeks total, and the office manager will not call me back, but continues to send bill reminders weekly. Dr. Davison is great, but his office staff is unresponsive and his medical team is either untrained or not informed. I have chosen to work with another surgeon unfortunately, surgeries are expensive and am blown away that you are grossly overcharged, then ignored. read more

Dr. Jeffreys Albright is AMAZING!!! I got a referral from my pcp to his office and was seen right away and everyone from the reception area to his assistant to the X-ray to him were awesome, everyone was super nice and very helpful. Dr. Albright listened to all my concerns about my knee in one appointment and came to a solution to help fix it and set up a plan right away and scheduled appointments to make it happen. Would definitely recommend going to him for any major orthopedic issues! read more

The doctor was great, the staff not so much. My mother is a patient as well as myself my moms care has been great mine not so much. The staff laughed at me when I expressed that I have been in pain and that it has been a month since I was seen and the prior authorization was still not done. I was laughed at by the office manager as well so I understand why the receptionist did the same. There's been a COVID outbreak in the office but they have not been transparent about it and the manager sounded very ill. I will no be returning and will have my mother's care transferee as well. I called Advantage as an alternative to the Dr that the ER referred us to, which had an extremely rude office assistant. I was so impressed with the sense of urgency from Alyssa, the very professional office assistant who was helping me. She took my concerns to Dr Albrecht and they called the hospital to get the x-rays and notes from our visit last night. Alyssa followed up with me several times this morning to keep me updated on what they were doing and whether or not we could get my son in today for an appointment. After reviewing x-rays, Alyssa called back and said that my son should see a hand surgeon instead of coming to see them first. Dr Dales is the best. I have four great joints thanks to his expertise. I would be in a wheelchair if not for him. I have no issues with any of the replacements. I'm so grateful. Also my husband broke his knee went to the hospital and they sent him to another orthopedic surgeon, who didn't see him just sent in his PA who told him to just go home and even took off the soft cast. He was in constant pain so I told him to go to my orthopedic guy. Dr Dales. He took some exrays and sent him right to the hospital for an MRI. Turns out he had a blood clot in his leg. So glad he went to see Dr Dales it could have been disastrous if that clot had moved. read more

These guys seemed more concerned about what they could bill my insurance and less about the pain I was in. I showed up, sat in the exam room for about 20 minutes and then was quaked away to get x-rays. Seriously, this is not appropriate behavior for a doctor - to take x-rays of someone who was walking just fine without any limp or pain (my knees had been bothering me during runs). The only thing the x-rays would have shown would have been bone related, and since I was not in pain, the x-rays were pointless. Seriously - I didn't see the doctor until about 45 minutes after they took the xrays. Then he got agitated when I started asking questions. After he was done explaining to me that the xrays were pointless, he referred me to his buddies upstairs (screw that!). Such a phenominal waste of money and my time. read more

Friendly staff and great doctors. Dr. Marc Davidson is an incredible orthopedic surgeon. As a slightly accident prone individual it's important for me to know where I can find a reliable medical staff with my best interests in mind. When I broke my ankle they opened the clinic early to get me in without an appointment and stabilize the break. Dr. Davidson was respectful, professional, and detailed in explaining what my injury consisted of, the possible side effects, and the treatment necessary for a proper recovery. After 2 1/2 months in a boot my ankle is 100% back to normal and I have full strength and mobility. The clinic sometimes experiences a little back up but as do most clinics. They have since worked on this and are much better at communicating this to patients waiting to be scene. I know when I have questions and concerns I want the doctor to take the time to answer them so I appreciate the customer service. read more

I really wasn't getting any relief so I decided to try another provider before taking the leap of getting total knee replacement surgery. So glad that I did! Dr Albright and his staff are the worst. I had 3 surgeries done by Albright ... On crutches for 4 months, off work for 7 months. All the surgeries failed! Albright and staff refused X-rays and told me I was fine. Complaints about pain led to being treated like a drug seeker. After a bone graft, micro fracture surgery and acl repair I was in pain! The front desk was so rude, it seemed like a hassle to do anything other than take my money. When I finally smartened up and got a 2nd opinion I got the news of 3 more surgeries to fix what this doctor created. I trusted too much! I came there for 2nd opinion after urgent care suspected torn miniscus. They took another xray and examined my knee and said everything looked good but ordered MRI to see more stuff. Told me to stop using crutches despite limping still. I had not even gotten an MRI yet and no final diagnosis yet. Came to work next day without crutches as advised, forced my tight muscles and joints to move and my knee gave up. Ended up damaging cartilage under kneecap. Turns out it was only a strain at first since MRI showed no tear. Continued rest would have healed me by now rather than causing more damage and having to go thru 6 to 8 wks of treatments... they won't admit they gave incorrect advice and caused me more damage. Just glad nothing worse happened and that i do not need surgery. Be careful if you choose this place, listen to your body and also follow up on the results if they do MRI because they will not call you and go over the results even just basic yes or no tear or whatever. They schedule follow up appointment to discuss results and that may be an extra week or two. read more

With bad bed side manners and no follow up, this place is awful. My Mom had an appointment for a knee injury that was causing a lot of pain so she made an appointment at this clinic. The doctor she saw was rude, smug and uncaring. They did x-rays and then immediately sent her for an MRI. Days go by and we don't hear a thing. Then after three weeks we decided to call to see what was going on and what the diagnosis was. The response form the person who answered the phone was,,,are you ready for this..."you are supposed to call us". WHAT? Physicians follow up with patients to give them the diagnosis and treatment options, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND. We still can hardly believe the extremely poor and unprofessional service we receive from this place. If you're considering making an appointment at this place, for your own sake, consider other options. read more

It seems like my entire family has been to Advantage Orthopedic & Sports Medicine for one reason or another and I would highly recommend this facility to anyone. I have had two total knee replacements with Dr. Albright and I can't say enough about how professional of a doctor, surgeon, and great person he is. With my first knee, I was released for full duty at work and travel in three months. With my recent knee replacement, I was released in seven weeks with full rotation on both occasions. The staff at Advantage Orthopedic & Sports Medicine is excellent and caring from appointment scheduling, surgery scheduling, to office administration and billing. read more

Too bad the lowest rating possible is only 1 star. I would give this establishment zero stars. Maybe a half star for the sweet girls working at the check in desk. My husband had an appointment at 2pm and we were asked to arrive 15 minutes early to complete the new patient check in, which we did. He was immediately taken back for an X-ray without even seeing a doctor first. After the X-ray, we were shown to a room where the medical assistant took some of his information. She left and said the doctor would be in shortly. We waited an hour before I went to track down the medical assistant to ask where the hell the doctor was. I found her chatting it up with a few other employees "working" at a desk station. I told her we had been waiting for an hour, which she already obviously knew. She smiles and said the doctor was coming, and that she would go get him. She would go get him? As if he had forgotten he had an appointment at 2pm. About five minutes later, the medical assistant came to let us know the doctor we were supposed to see, Dr. Davidson, was on the phone with another provider. I asked if he had been on the phone with the other provider the past hour, and she said yes. Then I asked why we were left in the room waiting for an hour, with our 7 month old son, with zero update on how much longer it would be. She didn't come check in once to apologize, let us know how much longer or let us know what the hold up was. We waited even longer for Dr. Davidson and he never showed up. What a JOKE this office is! We will never return. The only reason we made an appointment here is because it was the closest office to us- we will gladly drive the extra distance to see literally ANYONE else! After experiencing a knee injury I made an appointment with this office. The first time I visited Dr. Dales he took an ex-ray and said to come back in a month for a MRI if I still had pain. The appt. lasted 10 minutes. I went back two months later after the pain continued and he scheduled surgery. That appt. lasted approximately 10 minutes also. The day before my surgery, his office called and said I would need to bring a check for $150 to the hospital for what they estimated would be my balance due from the surgery after my insurance was billed. They never called after the surgery to see how I was doing only to schedule a quick follow-up appointment which I'm sure they would bill my ins. co. $300 and of course collect a $30 co-pay from me. I received a bill for $200 on December 28th for my portion of his $1500 bill that insurance didn't pick-up. On January 26th I received a voice mail from from his office asking me to make arrangements to pay the remaining balance of $200. I have not seen him since the surgery nor do I intend to. My knee is worse now than before the surgery. Quite honestly, I am shocked at the lack of professionalism exhibited by this practice. They are far more concerned with my bank account than my knee. So far I have advised two of my friends who have joint injuries to not see these people. read more
