Summary: was in desperate pain (worst headache of my life for 4+ days straight & zero relief) after a long-running cold/sinus/severe cough and could not be happier with this facility and the staff! The details: I am a snow bird (Jan-Mar) for the first time & visited Lake Mary ER Friday night 2/22/19 with worst headache I've ever had in my life for 4+ days straight due to a 45-day lingering cold & severe cough. Staff was so friendly & responsive. I was checked in & triaged in less than 10 minutes and in an exam room less than 5 minutes after that. Doctor and all staff were pleasant and answered every question - and they asked all the right questions of me to pinpoint what was going on. They recommended CT scan which took less than 10 minutes (right down the hall) and immediately started IV with extra strength pain killer (I had started antibiotic, cough syrup with codeine and oral steroids two days earlier via walk-in clinic (these meds usually have an immediate & positive effect) which began to take the edge off my pain which was 8/10 steady-state and 10/10 when I coughed. Nurse added second, even stronger pain killer via shot directly into IV access and this really helped - dropped pain to 4/10 in 30 minutes! CT was clear and lungs clear so "just" bronchitis causing cough causing severe headaches. Thank goodness! Two days later as I write this I am still taking meds originally prescribed (ER doc thought they were good ones for what I have) as I'm not "well" yet - but it appears this ER visit helped me turn the corner to feeling better! Total visit time was 3.5 hours but most of the time was me resting letting the meds work and waiting for CT scan to be read. Facility is new (3.5 years I believe) and very clean & modern. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I went to the Advent Health ER because my doctors were associated with Advent Health and I needed oxygen. There's a big red sign saying "EMERGENCY" and the front door says it's a "Hospital Emergency Room". At the other end of the building is a big "AMBULANCE" entrance. It is right next door to a large new facility where lots of outpatient procedures are done. But it's a lie. They don't have hospital facilities there. Two blocks away is a large Orlando Health Hospital with an Emergency Room entrance, but while I was on a gurney with an oxygen mask over my face, they told me they had decided to send me to the Advent Health hospital in Orlando by helicopter. That would not be very convenient and was not my choice. I was in no condition to debate the issue, however. My husband asked what this would cost, and they assured us that we would not be charged. So they put a "waiver" for the flight risks in front of me to sign, and off we went. My husband gathered some things from our home in Lake Mary and went by car. Shortly after getting out of the hospital 3 days later, they billed $48,000 for "air transport"!!!!! I have sent four messages to the billing department but get no response other than another "itemized bill" for $48,000 *JUST* for air transport. Medical services will be billed separately. Most of the staff was fine, but we can't afford being captive in an Advent Health facility and subject to their outrageous bills. And believe me, this was not the only example, just the largest single item. A walk around the hall before my release was billed $1000 as "evaluation for occupational therapy" (I'm retired), another $1000 for "evaluation for physical therapy", and still another $1000 was billed for them repeatedly asking if I wanted their home health care. I say "most", because I have another issue. AdventHealth is a "training hospital", and it this case they put training over care of the patient (me). I was recovering on oxygen when the technician left in charge decided to show a trainee how the "forced ventilation" apparatus worked. So he took away the oxygen I was getting and secured a mask over my nose and mouth attached to a pump that forced air into my lungs - on timing he set. While he was fiddling with the controls and telling the trainee how it operates, I was suffocating and had to rip it off my face so I could at least get the ambient air to breathe. I spent a total of 9 days in the main hospital, and had several other incidents where a trainee was left in charge and WAS NOT competent enough to handle the situation on his/her own. Disgustingly disappointing. These people claim "Christian" but refused my financial assistance application with no real basis besides gaslighting. They also FALSELY diagnosed my husband with pneumonia since we are going there. I really should be suing them for medical malpractice! They had him on all of these medication's for no reason! Come to find out after we visited our primary care doctor back @home, he NEVER had pneumonia to begin with! So I wouldn't have gone to the ER to get checked, thinking I had pneumonia too and I wouldn't have a bill that they refused to help me cover! Never fun being sick while on vacation, but I'm so grateful for the care I received. I walked into the emergency room late at night with a fever and the staff took me in right away. They truly made the experience as painless as possible. Everyone was attentive, friendly, and even joked around to help ease my mind, which meant a lot in a stressful moment. This place is awesome! I didn't know it existed until yesterday, when a coworker told me to go there. This ER is not attached to a hospital, it's literally just and ER and you'll be transported to another Florida Hospital if you need to be admitted, and it's been open for about a year. FH Lake Mary ER was clean, comfortable, and the staff were all super friendly. The guy who helped me in, the triage nurse, the PA and RN who took care of me - all super nice, professional, attentive, compassionate, and courteous. I received top notch care and was out of there in just about an hour. If you need an ER (or an Urgent Care facility) this is the place to go in North Seminole County. read more

I came in on the way to work, due to some heavy pains I was having. The front desk was so helpful, and quick with checking me in. I was immediately brought in for vitals and then taken to the back to my room. Nurse Kelly, and the tech Marisol, as well as the young lady who did my ultrasound (didn't get her name) were so nice. Dr. Oakley was the best of all. So welcoming, so comforting and just so pleasant. She had this way about her that just made you feel so at ease. She was thorough in explaining everything that was going on, and she did it in a way I could understand. I can appreciate that so much. Checking out was a quick process as well. Appalled at the lack of seriousness and care given to patients entering the ER. I drove my sister to the emergency room and when I ran inside struggling, I was instructed on how to get a wheel chair myself instead of having someone assist my sister who was unable to walk. I had to ask the staff to come out and help me as I couldn't leave my car alone in the parking lot. I was shocked as they continued talking amongst themselves on their front desk computers instead of trying to have someone assist her into the emergency room. After I asked for help I waited for several minutes until someone could wheel her out after I PUT HER IN THE CHAIR. Patients should be treated with the most haste when they are entering the emergency room. This is when doctors and nurses have no idea how critical a patients condition is. I took my minor child to the Advent Health location in Lake mary, and I was so pleased with the nursing assistant name Ruth who assisted us, She was pleasant and very understanding, I felt like she was really taking in regard to my sons health, My son already have a distrust on doctors offices but she really made my son feel relieved and safe. went in there Saturday evening . called ahead , explained exactly what I needed before I came and again once I was there. the young guy nurse never even got my vitals , took me back to main waiting area after not taking my vitals . Suddenly wants to lead me to a room he never turned the light on in the room or even gave me another sentence or indication of when I'd be seen. Hour goes by I get a text to "sign in" so I figure I guess I'll do this maybe a dr will come. Another half hour goes by and nothin still. I left after almost 2 hours from arrival never having even a full set of vitals. Y'all get it together it wasn't busy or late. I saw one couple waiting when I first arrived and an older Caucasian couple came right before I was taken to a room. Stop and turn around. This is not a hospital but a mismanaged want to be urgent care building. If you are need of assistance go to a real hospital. I waited over 2 1/2 hours to be seen by a doctor and had bs nurses walk in/out and ask me the same stupid questions. I later was told due to a shift change of doctors I would be seen later. I refused to wait any longer and refused treatment. They had the audacity to bill me and my insurance company for their stupidity and lack of care. The night prior I was at Advent Health Orlando hospital and was treated well. This place looks like a hospital outside but inexperience staff on the inside. So go to a real hospital. Good luck. I am extremely disappointed and upset with the lack of care and responsiveness that I received today from FL ER on Rhinehart. Dr. Nicole Mailloux disregarded my symptoms and questions that I had about my health and condition. She shrugged her shoulders and would not give me any straight answers when I had legitimate concerns about my health. I left the hospital feeling like I had no solution to my problems. I would have gotten better results at home using Google to diagnose myself, and my pockets would be fuller as well. The facility is very clean and nice. Dawn was helpful. We were essentially locked in the building until someone in BILLING released us to the lobby for exit. This didn't really leave us with a good feeling considering they already collected my ID and insurance card showing we had coverage. Next time we'll look for a fire exit. read more

Had to bring my son into to the ER for treatment, was received with not issues and they doc ordered a urinalysis and an ultra sound all was going well. After waiting in the room for 2 1/2 hours I open the door to find out why it's taking so long. The nurse tells us the doctor is with a critical patient so we ask for someone else to check us out now here's the first problem only one doctor in the facility no PA's no Nurse Practitioner no one else to help. Next is the bill for a urinalysis and ultra sound the bill was $3800 plus $800 to the doctor. The cost of an ultra sound is $200ish and a urinalysis is $20ish insurance pays $1500 patient on the hook for $3100 this is robbery and I will never go back to Advent Health! Check-in was flawless and quick. As soon as I checked in the nurse took me back. The staff was very friendly. Within a few minutes Dr. David Sarkarati came into the room. He is a great listener with excellent bedside manner. He was compassionate and kind. I had gone to my primary doctor as well as an orthopedic for my sciatica nerve pain but non of the meds I had taken for two days straight had taken down the pain. Dr. Sarkarati was able to give me a steroid injection as well as pain meds and after 4 days of excruciating pain, I feel like I got my life back. NO STARS if possible! This facility and the medical staff/doctors were not at all helpful. Came into the ER after having horrible chest pains, and came out with no answers what so ever. The PA who saw me suggested I get a ct scan for what I thought was no good reason after saying all the tests came out good except a single test that gets bad wrap anyway. No conclusion at the end except that I was "healthy and good to go". After all the chest pain I already went through, I think I actually had a heart attack after seeing the bills. Then a hour later was told would be transported to a hospital to be admitted not the closest hospital but to Altamonte Springs! Oh! I see there hospital! This is an emergency room yes and not a hospital. All the staff are trained and very much so just as capable of handling emergency situations. If they believe the patient is in need of extended care, as in being admitted that's when I believe the patient would be transferred. I have been here maybe two or three times over the past five years, every single time they treated myself or my children. They provided post care recommendations, as well referrals for specialist or primary care physicians. The team was absolutely wonderful in getting me in quickly, getting the pain managed and determining the contributing factor. This facility is very clean, the whole entire process was very thorough. I'm very grateful and most definitely will be taking the doctors recommendations and getting In with the specialist I was recommended. Thank you to everyone that took care of me, and who works here. (written by husband, George) My wife and I are seniors. It was Saturday and my wife was having UTI symptoms so I called the Advent Health Lake Mary ER and they confirmed they do treat UTIs. The receptionist and nurses were friendly. My wife's vitals were taken and we went to a private room and my wife was instructed to sit on the bed and the doctor would be in soon. My wife gave a voided sample so they could check for WBC. The sample was collected and taken to their lab. Within a few minutes another nurse came in and introduced herself and said they were going to start an IV, do a complete blood work up on her and a CT. My wife told the nurse she did not need an IV; she was there for a UTI urine check. She left the room to let the doctor know. After that we waited almost a half hour until a young man came in and said he was her provider and who we assumed was a doctor. He never gave us his name at all nor did he introduce himself to us. My wife asked him if he had the results of the urine test yet and he said, I don't know. So he didn't even know they had taken the urine sample. He proceeded to tell my wife that he wanted to do a CT scan and complete blood work series on her. She told him she just had blood work and CT scan done. All normal. She had a cystoscopy and was only checking to see if there was any WBC rule out UTI. Since then she had UTI symptoms. She had no other symptoms. He began to speak to her as if she where a child. He was arrogant and condescending. He used scare tactics saying things like, you could have a perforated bladder, internal bleeding. If you don't get a CT scan, I will say you left against medical advice. It seemed to me he was pushing for unnecessary tests. After he left the room, I waited another 15 minutes and I checked with the nursing station. The urine test was in the lab but he had never ordered the test run! Almost an hour later, we decided to leave and told them we would get the results of the test later. We then asked and found out that he was not a doctor but a nurse practitioner, not even a PA! One of the nurses apologized to us and said we could get the results later. This experience was very frustrating, demeaning and insulting to us. To think this is how seniors are treated and coerced into getting treatment and unnecessary tests done. The way this NP spoke to my wife was totally out of line. I did not appreciate how she was treated and will never expose her to this type of treatment again. read more
