Due to the findings from a recent medical check, I had to have an outpatient surgery done…read more Everything was set up, I received updates from my appointments and the surgery via both calls from the scheduling team, the doctor's office and also via Epic MyChart which is the helpful tool where you can track all medical care, notes and such easily via the phone app or your computer. I arrived at 630a the day of my surgery, was taken back into the prepping area where nurse Gemma got me all ready for my procedure, took my readings, checked up on me to ensure everything was ready to go and to ensure I was feeling at ease. There was also nurse Amy who came in, prepping me and another whose name I cannot recall but each one of them truly were wonderful. The level of care I was provided helped ease any anxiety or worries which could have gotten a hold of me. Dr. Sefton, the anesthesiologist came by to introduce himself, explain how he was going to provide his skills towards my care, informed me of what exactly he would monitor me for to ensure I was not feeling nauseous after the anesthesia I would be provided. A short bit after, Dr. Kemp came in to also go through how she was going to assist my health with the surgery I was going to have. My loved ones were brought in to sit with me for a bit before I was moved into the operating room, given some good drugs and I don't recall anything until I was moved into PACU for recovery. While in the PACU, my loved ones were able to come in as a nurse monitored me to make sure there were no aftereffects happening, I was dressed up once everything was clear that I was feeling well enough to head home, and my visit to the Outpatient was pleasantly done. I was given clear instructions on how to treat my procedure area and what to expect. I arrived home by noon time, shortly after took a nap and have not felt any nausea or pain at all. I was able to sleep well in my own bed, woke up today in great spirits and feeling wonderful considering all that has happened a short while ago. I went onto MyChart and read through all the clinical notes posted by Dr. Kemp where everything is clearly outlined so I can easily track my care.

I spent two nights at Adventhealth prior to my delivery and all the staff were personable and caring. During my stay while giving birth I was there for 3 nights. The staff were wonderful again and kept me well informed of what was going on. I felt very in control of what was happening and that it was my choice as to what path was taken for my childs birth. I ended up having a beautiful baby boy via c-section and he was delivered by the on-call doctor, not a doctor from my OB. The on call doctor put me at ease (bc i was a little freaked out!) and I felt safe in her care. The food was decent, some meals better than others and you get a daily smoothie which was a nice surprise! In the area of the hospital that I was in there was a little cafe type area that had a vending machine and some other small bites for free. It was a thoughtful touch for friends and family who were visiting to meet our new baby. Everyone thinks that Winnie Palmer is THE place to have your baby, but I personally think Advent Winter Park is really the place to be. ;)

I had the unfortunate experience of being a patient in Advent Health (Orlando) just a few weeks…read moreapart in June and July of 2026. In both cases, I suspect my hospitalization could have been avoided. Advent Health is good for "Thoughts & Prayers". My "journey" began in July of 2025. That's when I noticed a sharp increase in fatigue after minor physical activity. After an EKG which suggested a possible heart block, my PCP referred me to a cardiologist. I chose one at Advent Health that I had seen 7 years earlier and knew my history. The cardiologist ordered a stress test in January of 2026. I'm not uneducated, and reviewed those results myself. They indicated a heart block with substantially restricted blood flow in the lower chambers. The follow-up visit with the cardiologist wasn't until April, so I called the cardiologist. He said the stress test came out fine, and the indication of a heart block was merely a test error. When April came, I found out that he would not attend, but a nurse would explain the result of the stress test to me. I needed no further explanation. I should have found a new health care provider immediately. I was still very fatigued after minor efforts, but trusted the doctor. I was pushing 79 years of age, after all. Perhaps this is all I should expect. On June 13, 2026, I woke up and felt extremely weak and dizzy. I took my blood pressure: normal EXCEPT that my heart rate was 30 beats per minute. Google said I was barely alive. I had my husband take me to the Advent Health ER in Lake Mary, which jumped into action and had me in a helicopter to the hospital in Orlando within minutes. I had a Third Degree Heart Block. At the hospital, I had a temporary pacemaker implanted. Two days later, a permanent pacemaker was installed. Everyone involved was responsive, professional, and pleasant. I spent most of my time in the ICU. My cardiologist, however, never saw me. Instead, he sent an associate from his office to the hospital ICU to ask how I was doing. Once out of the hospital, I was to resume my normal activities and medications. But my previous meds to reduce high blood pressure were now keeping it so low that I felt sick. I called my PCP, who said follow directions given by the cardiologist. So I called the cardiologist and the surgeon who performed the implant. The next day, a nurse responded that I should eliminate one and take the other "as needed". I ended up taking NOTHING, and still my blood pressure was no higher than 110/60, even after my heart rate was up to 104 beats per minute. I made more calls. No one ever called back. On July 5, 2026, I woke up and could NOT catch my breath. I was gasping for air, but to no avail. Another trip to the ER. Another helicopter ride. I had an acute pulmonary embolism - blood clot(s) in the lungs, undoubtedly caused by the surgery. Indeed that was about the only possible explanation for the symptoms I had recorded. But despite my many calls to supposed medical experts, no one at Advent Health thought to even mention that possibility. At least I woke up. After a few hours on supplemental oxygen, I had an emergency catheter-directed embolectomy. I.e., they sucked out the blood clots blocking the arteries. I could breath again. Once again, the staff in the hospital were mostly fine. Some of the night shift in the ICU seemed like they might be trainees. One spent 30 minutes and MANY painful attempts to draw blood. I should mention somewhere that the hospital food was inedible. Moreover, they put me on a low salt diet for no reason, then concluded that I had a sodium deficiency and gave me an IV drip. They did a test for glucose immediately after serving French Toast and syrup for breakfast, then decided I was hyperglycemic and put my on a restricted calorie diet. These things aside, they made heavy use of microwaves, turning even the best attempts at 'food' into rubber. The staff did all they could to remedy the situation. Kudos to them. Arrest the chef. But food is a trivial matter compared to important health issues. My primary complaint about Advent Health is that THEY DO NOT TAKE CALLS SERIOUSLY AND THEY DO NOT CALL BACK. My gut tells me the cardiologist should never have dismissed the results of the stress test as an error - especially since a prior test indicated the same thing. Surely, someone with medical training in cardiology should have acted on the indications of blood clots after surgery, which are hardly uncommon. Yet my many calls resulted in slight interest. They give a 24x7 "hot line" for issues after discharge. In my case, the wound reopened, bled a lot, and we wondered if I should still take the blood thinner. They would call back with answer. They never did. They weren't slow with the bills. About a quarter million for each visit to the ICU. To that they added $48,000 for "air transport" I didn't ask for and which they said I would NOT be billed for. There is an Orlando Health hospital next door. GO THERE.

Let's be honest: cancer sucks. The staff here is extremely friendly and accommodating. The lobby is clean, quiet, and there's plenty of seating. Appointments are taken on time and with great professionalism. Great care is taken to ensure patient privacy and to give each patient the time that they need. The case manager is very friendly and will go out of her way to ensure each patient gets what they need. The laboratory area is a little on the small side, but it moves with great efficiency. This is one of those places that you hope you'll never have to frequent, but if you do the staff here will take excellent care of you as if you were one of their own. The physicians here are top-notch and always place their patient needs first.

I signed a paper that said if my insurance company doesn't pay for my hernia repair then I would have to pay $345 also there is a $650 charge if as a prepay patient I have to stay overnight. Ok... I wake up to find out I did NOT go home but instead the HOSPITAL OVERSOSED ME with too much medicine and they decided I should stay for their over-sedation mistake. I even had a hospital representative come ask me for the $200 balance owed as I was trying to recover. Anyway, I went home and less than 3 weeks later I see that my insurance was billed for my stay and they paid over $40K. WHAT what what?????!!! AND the hospital is billing ME the deductible coinsurance of $2650... I never sued them, I just want my money back and them to cover their mistake and write off the $2650. I have waited patiently for 60 days or 2 full months while my account from May 28th is under review from their insurance department. Only to find out today that NEVER happened and the supervisors are saying according to their notes the charges are valid. You make a $40000. mistake that would have only cost me $650 of which because it was YOUR mistake I would not have had to pay anyway? One supervisor told me that once they billed the insurance company and got paid my self pay status of getting a discount was null. If that's the case do what the anesthesiologist did and REFUND my money!!! What a racket and terrible business practice this hospital is running. Now I will wait another 45 days while you keep collecting countless insurance payments and never calling me back with the status. Stay away if you need your money and have a choice to go elsewhere. I feel VERY very cheated even though the doctor took responsibility, the hospital thinks it's okay to do wrong and make the patient keep paying! Ridiculous....

I found out there was a free valet for patients however, I had valuables in the car so I decided to go to the Self Park, which meant I was an extra 15 minutes late because there was traffic and it went up slowly. The digestive center was amazing, it was very modern and beautiful, clean and all staff was friendly and quick. The whole experience for the surgery part was amazing. Doctor Bang was really amazing and kind. All staff were excellent, I would ring the bell and two seconds later someone was already there to help. after the surgery, there were some small complications so instead of going home, I was brought up to a room. From here on the experience was not that great. I asked the assigned nurse for water and juice which she never brought, and I never saw her again until transitioning shift to the next nurse. I ended up calling and the head nurse was very kind and brought me something to drink finally. When I was out of water, I had to call again because I had not seen anyone in a long time and staff had come to pick up a food tray which I never received. They finally showed up with a dinner plate at 6:30pm. I am on a liquid diet, so I was very happy and hungry even it was not a food plate. It had a popsicle, Jell-O, juice, tea, and broth. I was so hungry I ended up going down to the cafeteria and buy a meal. I had denied an IV fluid as I can drink through my mouth however they refused to remove the port which I understand is protocol. At 5am my hand was hurting so bad I demanded it to be removed and they finally did. I also removed the heart monitor because I was tired and wanted to sleep. The morning staff was very friendly. As I was still on the liquid diet I went back downstairs to buy me something to eat this time I tried the Main bean coffee shop. All staff was friendly and helpful on my last day. All credit for dr bang that deserves 5 stars!

They would also contradict each other causing a lot of confusion. Anesthesiologist punctured my wife's spine and blamed her...another had to come and finish. What took the first provider five pokes in 30 minutes took the next one about 90 seconds. Clearly operator error. Very unprofessional. Due to this my wife had to have another procedure after giving birth to twins...he had severe back pain, was leaking spinal fluid and was have headache so debilitating she couldn't even get up to use the restroom. None of this is related to giving birth... all of it was related to the epidural and due to the incompetence of anesthesiologist. The only good doctor we experienced was the one who delivered our twins. She kept checking in with us, communicated a plan with us and was very positive. We were there for 5 days and only saw a doctor when we requested one about 2 hours before you were discharged. no one can answer our questions... The nurse has tried their best, but weren't getting much answers from the doctors above them. Again, shout out to the delivery unit, nursing staff, lead nurses, charge nurses and entire nicu staff. Oh! The food staff and cleaning staff was also very nice and did their job well. Doctors? 2/10 We considering contacting an attorney.

First, it is so cold in the maternity area that I had to get blankets to keep myself warm, as well as my son in law who was also freezing.My daughter was covered and she was cold, even being in labor! Secondly, when it was time for the baby to be born, the nurse told my daughter she would have to wait as the doctor was delivering another baby.....what???....another nurse grabbed the house phone and said that unless a doctor came to my daughter's room immediately, the nurse was going to deliver the baby. Two doctors showed up rather quickly. My grand daughter made her entrance into the world! The nurses were fantastic,patient, and spent a lot of time explaining what was going on with my daughter's labor. The hospital is clean and well maintained. Food was just okay. Breast feeding support seemed to be good. There was a lag in time when my daughter and her husband were told a room would be ready in the NICU (baby needed some blood work follow-up) would be ready in an hour. It took several hours.They were exhausted as my daughter had been in labor for quite some time and just wanted to get settled so they could rest a bit before bringing the baby home. Anyway, the little family is fine!

This hospital is located in Altamonte Springs, FL, which is a 54 minute drive from my house. When I left to go to this appointment on July 16th, 2026, I was not aware that this was an appointment that I needed to fast for. I'm certain that they must have told me that I needed to fast for appointment when they initially called me for scheduling, but I just didn't remember. I do remembered them telling me that the PET Scan would take 90 minutes to complete, but I did not remember them telling me anything about needing to fast for PET Scan. I was using a driving service to take me to this appointment, and when we arrived at this hospital, we were several hours early. We decided to get something to eat while we were waiting. My driver is a friend of mine by now, because we've already taken so many trips together since we first met, around February of 2026, and she even double checked with me to see if I needed to be fasting for this PET Scan. I looked at my notes, and I couldn't find anything that indicated I needed to be fasting. In hindsight, I should have called the Imaging department at the hospital and asked them if I needed to fast, just to be certain that I didn't need to be fasting. We ended up going to a great local restaurant, and we had a delicious lunch. We ate our lunch quickly, and then headed back to AdventHealth hospital. Upon entering the hospital I headed to the right where I saw a desk area with staff working behind it. I was immediately greeted by two of the staff members behind the desk. I gave them my name, and I told them that I was here for a PET Scan. They checked their computer system, and then they directed me to a check in window, at the left hand side of the hospital lobby. After I arrived at the window, I was greeted by a friendly gentleman staff member, who checked me in, gave me a hospital wrist band, and then directed me over to the waiting area for the imaging department of the hospital, which was just ahead of his window. I had just enough time to snap some pictures of this breathtakingly beautiful AdventHealth hospital. Once I was finished, I sat down in a seat near a tall window with a view of a reflecting pool, and a nearby water fountain that was located outside of the building, near the outside seating area. Once I sat down, a few moments passed before staff member named Stephanie called my name. I walked over to her and greeted her. Right away Stephanie asked me if I was fasting, and I told her that I just had lunch. She said that unfortunately I need to be fasting for at least 4 hours before having a PET scan, and so she said that we could go to the back and she would help me reschedule my appointment. After we went to the back, Stephanie had me take a seat and she left momentarily to go make a list of potential days and times, so that we could reschedule my appointment. I called my driver to find a day and time that worked for her, and we were able to schedule a new appointment. Stephanie then escorted me out to the lobby of the gorgeous hospital. Stephanie was a very kind and understanding staff member, and she treated me so well. Despite not being able to get my PET Scan, I had a great experience, from the time that I walked into the hospital, to the point that I left the hospital.

The staff from the moment you walk into the hospital at reception desk to the medical staff have always been friendly and supportive. I can honestly say this hospital is, in my opinion, the Best in Orlando. The VA has sent me out to Community Care for both times. Plenty of time to fill out paperwork and take the 15 minute or less tests. Asked reception for directions, it was literally right behind the desk. Was told to fill out registration at a digital kiosk. A few frustrating minutes later, finished and lady from lab window immediately calls my name. More than 25 minutes before listed closing. She asked for the purpose of my visit... I repeated what was in my digital kiosk registration finished 30 seconds earlier... walk-in lab tests. She told me I could not have lab tests done because labs had closed 15 minutes earlier. So the website states walk-ins until 2pm but apparently in reality, walk-ins actually stop at 1:15pm, maybe even earlier??? Nobody at reception told me I was too late, the sign in registration kiosk didn't tell me I was too late, and according to the website as a walk-in, I arrived with plenty of time to spare... hmmm. Reception might want to say something about being too late when you tell them you are there to take walk-in lab tests... perhaps when you select walk-in lab tests at the kiosk, the kiosk should inform you that you are too late. Where the webpage has a list of hours for walk-in lab tests, maybe it could possibly state hours are just some kind of pretend approximation. If this is how they treat patients or this reflects their attention to patient care, treatment, etc., I really hope I never end up taken here in an emergency. Imagine going to Burger King where hours listed on the door state open until 9pm but when you walk in at 8:15pm (45 minutes before closing), they tell you the grills were shut off at 8pm and will be cleaned 15 minutes from now at 8:30pm, and that the 9pm listed on the door is when the last employee locks the door as they head out for the night.

Always letting my daughter know each set that was going to be taken to insure her and baby would be as safe as possible. Keeping her not only informed but keeping her at ease. But they also helped making her family that was there comfortable. Which made it easy for us to help comfort her as well. After my daughter gave birth, baby was also well taken care of. They really make sure with so much information for new parents and experienced parents make a smooth transition home. Cafeteria was in my opinion great. I didn't know hospital food changed so much since I worked in one. We did have a staff member tell us food was actually better a few months ago. But they probably don't have much experience with small town hospital food. Staff in Cafeteria were so nice. Cafeteria was clean everytime we went in(which was for all 3 meals). We didn't really feel need to leave to get anything to eat. I would recommend this hospital to any mother.

I like the fact that they set you up in a pre-op room so that you can spend time with family before you go into a procedure. Then once you get your medicine, if you're like me you would just pass out immediately. Lol . Just say loving words to your family before you go into your procedure is sooo important. I was extremely sore afterwards and had tons of bruises but I bruise easily. I figured it would happen. The staff was sooo kind throughout the experience. Thank you again.
