Nobody wants to go to the hospital, whether it is us in the hospital or if we are visiting someone we know and/or love, but overall, my visit here (visiting someone) was a decent enough visit (as far as hospitals go). There is adequate parking, the staff were professional, snd the hospital looks relatively new. I entered into a Apopka on August 6th and stayed for one week on the second floor where upon I was transferred to Advent health Rollins to see Specialists there. I came back to Advent in Apopka and stayed on the 4th floor for another few weeks I was inpatient for a total of almost a month. I was taking care of by an exceptional team of Nursing and CNA staff that met all of my needs with kindness and thoroughness. I can never think the care teams that worked with me. read more

My experience with AdventHealth has had a lasting impact on my life. I came to the emergency department with severe abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and an inability to tolerate food. My physician had recommended I seek emergency care, and I shared my concerns, including a family history of gallbladder disease. Despite being admitted, undergoing testing, and continuing to experience significant symptoms, I was discharged without an explanation that matched the severity of my condition. My condition never improved. I remained in severe pain and was forced to return to the hospital just two days later because my symptoms had become unbearable. During my second hospitalization, imaging confirmed acute cholecystitis, and I underwent emergency gallbladder surgery. The operative findings documented an acutely inflamed, gangrenous gallbladder with an abscess, and my pathology confirmed chronic gallbladder disease with gallstones and acute inflammation. My treating physician also later documented sepsis due to acute cholecystitis that was present on admission. While I am grateful for the surgeons and healthcare professionals who ultimately treated me, I continue to struggle with the fact that I was discharged while still experiencing severe symptoms, only to return with a life-threatening condition requiring emergency surgery. What has been equally difficult is continuing to receive hospital bills for an experience that left me with lasting physical, emotional, and financial consequences. Patients place their trust in a healthcare system during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. When symptoms persist despite treatment, they deserve to be heard, thoroughly evaluated, and provided with clear communication before being sent home. My hope in sharing my experience is not to discourage others from seeking care, but to encourage AdventHealth to strengthen patient advocacy, communication, and clinical decision-making so that no one else has to endure what I did. read more

This is a fairly new hospital in Apopka replacing the historically known location in Downtown Apopka. The new location is in a developing part of Orange County convenient to Apopka, Clarcona, Zellwood, Pine Hills and surrounding areas. I found it to be very clean with plenty of parking. I have a elderly friend who has been in the hospital over a week at Advent Health Apopka. I am not impressed with the quality of nursing, the care of the nursing staff, also the hospitalists that visits my friend are not the same person every day, so they have nothing to compare because there's a different dr. Every day that sees my friend. Having NO security at the front door is HORRIBLE! all Hospitals need security! He has a complication from his surgery, and we are talking about having transferring him down to the Advent Health on Rollins, downtown Orlando. We are just not satisfied with the nursing staff, the caringness of the doctors and nurses, and the attitude of the people that work on his floor. He often rings the button and has to wait 30 minutes for Help to go to the bathroom or other things he needs. There is no security at the front door, as there is at all other hospitals, this is in the middle of the country in Apopka, I think security is needed there as much as any other hospital. It is a beautiful facility, but the staff don't match the facility. There needs to be some seminars for the staff about how to care for people and show concern. read more

I was sent here for imaging as my usual Altamonte was booked solid. The building is nice and new. The staff in the imaging center was friendly and kind. I was disappointed that while waiting for results the tech had to tell me the doctors were too backed up to give me the results themselves. The tech gave me what she could and let me know they would go to my normal doc. Hopefully i don't need to go so far out to get imaging done again and advent does a better job of getting repeat patients in to their normal centers. read more

My sister was admitted into the hospital, Advent Health Apopka, wound care never showed up prior to discharge, diabetic meds were only given to her once (after she kept asking for them) and at discharge she was asked to go sit in the lobby until someone could pick her up, also asked if she had a house key and they would call an uber. My sister said she would wait in the room since the doctor had not been in yet. He never ever went to her room but he did call her. Her daughter left work to pick her up, when leaving her room the nurses where at the nurses counter laughing (pretty sure they were laughing at her, it was very obvious). For my sister to say if she ever has to go back for us to just let her .....! I am disgusted with the lack of empathy on the staff. Nothing like kicking someone when your down. They should be ashamed of themselves. What in the world is wrong with people. I can not say enough on how I am totally disgusted with "profession staff". When I called the nurses station the charge nurse was absolutely HORRIBLE, no compassion. NEVER AGAIN!!! read more

Husband came for a routine colonoscopy. Nurses and staff were great, no complaints there. Issue is the ridiculous wait time. Appointment was at 9. We were told to be there at 7:30. He went back at 11:30!! Will never come here for services again. Very inconsiderate of patients time. No excuses. My husband and I both tested positive for COVID and we wanted to get on Paxlovid. We were helped immediately and efficiently. Everyone was so gracious, kind and helpful. One way or another they will find a way to send you a bill for $2000+ months after you receive treatment. And their entire staff will tell you there will be no further charges. First time, "that nurse practitioner was a contractor and that bill is from them, not us." Second time, I asked the doctor and nurse if they were advent health employees, explained my previous experience, and they ensured me that wouldn't happen this time. Confirmed with the person checking me out and taking my payment that was correct. I got a small bill a couple weeks later. I can totally understand a minor insurance adjustment. Then this week the big bill came. The bill could be totally fair, I can't know, but I've only experienced these shady business practices from them. Do yourself a favor and drive the extra 15 minutes down the road to Health Central in Ocoee. It's a joke they call themselves a Christian organization when that is how they do business. read more

I've been having very bad chest pains and numbness in my face, Got scared of course and rushed to the hospital. I'm one to avoid going to the hospital because you usually feel rushed and never heard. I can HONESTLY say that the treatment I received by the nurses and doctors by far was the best. Constantly checking on me and made me feel very comfortable even though I wasn't feeling my best. Went in for my annual exam and after their double billing walked out with not only my annual exam but another appointment charge in top of that. Annual exam was a joke. Consisted of asking questions based on blood work doing basic vitals and walking out 15 mins later with hundreds of dollars in charges. Their coding department is not doing honest billing. Coded my annual labs as diagnostic too so they were not covered. Ended up paying out of pocket as they would not fix it even after a coding review. Place is being fraudulent in their claims and costing me money in the process! read more

went w my brother the other night to get his knee taken care of. the room he was in still had BLOOD smeared on the metal of the bed and a drop of blood on the floor as well as a bloody gauze under it. mind you NOT FROM MY BROTHER. AND they needed some sharp instruments to work on him. If I could give zero stars I would. I'm surprised no one dropped dead in this ER. I arrived here with my mother who was having upper back, chest pain and diminished breathing. Not only have we been waiting for 4 hours, there are people including my mother crying in pain with nurses walking by paying no mind. Some have been here for 6 hours!!!!!!!!!!!! And still has not been seen or brought to the back!! Then to make matters worst, there is no adherence to HIPPA as everyone can hear the other person's medical issue, partly because there is no separate triage area and the nurse blurts out patient information. Beyond shameful. My mother is a nurse, nurse manager and an 1199 nurse of the year recipient. I've seen animals tended to better. Maybe we should have gone to a vet. If you care for your loved one do not bring them here to rot!!! read more

Rating I wd give this Advent Health location 5 stars. However, no one is perfect... so 4.5 stars. Facility This is a very pristine clean environment located in a rural area off 429. Large rooms with excellent views & an outstanding cleaning staff. My story I went to the, also excellent, Advent Health Winter Garden emerg rm because I cd not breathe well. My no. were not gd. Treatment They are a smaller facility now but expanding. My diag was total bed rest, breathing treatments, & 24 hr monitoring so they transported me to their lg Apopka facility. The transport service was superior....Eta 4:50 a.m. to Apopka. Staff The staff is highly skilled, meticulous, methodical, & dutiful, i.e., nurses, PAs, custodial, techs, social workers, & therapist. I was kept informed abt my treatment every step of the way. Everyone was so very kind. I had the best nurses nite & day. Food The meal staff was awesome. They are very cognizant of your nutritional needs. The menus are specifically designed to meet patient's caloric & carb count. I didn't have to worry abt the nos. They reassured me that they had this & they certainly did. I am not diabetic but the meds I needed caused a spike. Nite Staff Here's the minus .5 deduction... Day 1--My Eta was 4:50 a.m. The nite CNA stuck her head in the door & yelled can you go to the bathroom. I asked for water & never saw her again that nite nor did I see anyone else. Approx. 8 a.m in the morning, I cd hear the gentle movements & rumblings of the day staff reminding the nite staff of unchecked & neglected tasks. They were way to gentle with their reminders. Suddenly, the nite CNA rushes into my rm & asked if I needed anything. Her perfume almost made me relapse. I asked her not to enter my rm because I was allergic to her perfume. She had on abt a gal of cheap perfume. Just when I othought I was going hm, I started wheezing again so they kept me another nite....oh no. Day 2--I joked abt the lax nite staff & a social worker visied me & reassured me she was there if I needed anything. Day 2 & Day 3--I had such good care, I was on my feet & feeling like myself again. I was anxious to be released & go hm. I met my Dr, for the 1st time, for exactly 36 sec. & I was well enough to be released...Must be nice! read more

This hospital is a complete joke. No one cares what you are there for, they just want to squeeze as much money out of you in the quickest time. They also have their rules for Covid that are ridiculous. I went in the ER with high pressure and numbness in my left arm. They do all kinds of tests and actually admit me into a room. My wife and I have a son and we have NO family here to help with him. He's in kindergarten. Once they get me in my room my wife went to get some things for me at the house and come back. They wouldn't let her back into the hospital because I already had a guest!! Haha that was my son. So they told my wife and I that "due to Covid" your only allowed one visitor. Well???? What do you want us to do?? Leave him in the car??? We have no one here and I don't understand the medical jargon these assholes talk, so I need my wife to talk for me. The staff were rude and inconsiderate, especially to a patient that was there for high blood pressure!! If the sickness doesn't kill you the staff here will drain your money and then they will finish the job! I'd rather go to a basement "hospital" in Mexico and get treated for $20 then to to come back to this place. This is what America has turned into and it's really sad, people use to care but I guess we live in, "give me your money and get the hell out!" Thanks for nothing!!! Frankly, I don't know why this hospital has such low scores. I mean, no one wants to be in a hospital, but this one was a pleasant stay, as far as hospitals go. We were transferred to this hospital after my husband was diagnosed with a medical emergency. What started out as a quick trip to the ER ended up being several days in the hospital on 24-hour watch. What I was most impressed with was the level of care the nurses gave us. We had a stellar team who checked on us and were concerned about our overall comfort and care. When we first arrived from the ER, it was about 3:30 a.m. and we were both exhausted. After getting my husband situated, the nurse kindly took the time to get ME some warm blankets and showed me how to turn the coach into a small bed. She then asked us again if we needed anything for the evening. Can you imagine how comforting it was to have her there during that scary time? The next night, it was time for my husband's medicine. Instead of just waking us up in the middle of the night by turning on the lights and speaking loudly, the nurse decided to give us another hour to rest. She came back the following hour but kept the lights low and quietly woke up my husband to let him know it was time to take his meds. Thanks to her calm way of handling this, he fell right back asleep after taking the medicine. This is the first time I've seen such care and concern taken in a hospital/care facility. And the food was OK! In fact, my husband was a big fan of the meatloaf. He even made me try it because he knows how much I love meatloaf. And he was right! It was yummy. He actually looked forward to the meals ... rare for a hospital. His parents and I frequented the downstairs cafeteria throughout his stay, and the food was pretty decent. I was most impressed with the pricing. I thought the food was available at a low cost, and you had lots of options from full meals to salad bars. They even had sushi, though I didn't try it. I also love that they have an Axum Coffee location right next to the cafeteria. The hours are pretty limited (7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.) but it was a much-welcomed surprise in the morning when I needed some caffeine to start my day. We were on the third floor, and there was a public seating area by the window near the elevators. It was a beautiful view overlooking a lot of trees in the surrounding Apopka area. It also provided a nice place to make a phone call or just step outside the room for a bit. I'd like to recognize the individuals that made our experience so great. Once I find where I wrote down their names, I'll be sure to update this review. Overall, I was happy with our experience, treatment and diagnosis. The team was very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this hospital, and I would willingly go back if (heaven forbid) we need another hospital visit in the future. read more

Recently had surgery here and I won't go to this hospital again. The pre-op nursing staff was great but that is about the only positive thing to say. Thankfully the surgery went as planned but the nursing staff had major attitude problems. The phlebotomist should never be anywhere near people's veins. I think drunk blindfolded med students could have done better. I had questions about my surgery but the surgical staff was too busy to come by my room. Never did talk to them. Not impressed and will make sure I go to a different hospital for any future procedures. read more

I just returned from having a Covid test done as well as a flu test. Luckily both were negative, but I can't express enough how happy I was with a customer service. We were able to login digitally and do our application via text message and web. When we got there, we were greeted and allowed to stay in the comfort of our car until it was ready for us to come inside. We were quickly escorted into a private room and met with the nurse, Dr. and other associates to complete our visit. Everyone was extremely friendly and caring. I expected a nightmare in an already scary situation, thinking you might have Covid. Thank you Advent for making things easy! read more

While a few of the doctors and nurses were courteous, majority of the nurses are in the wrong feel. I had to ask 1 of the nurse to respect my husband privacy because thats his rights. I was im the room with visitors and none family members when she walked in and blurted out my husband illness without any regards for his privacy. I had to check her on it. The new hospital is beautiful but the care from the nursing staff has alot to be desired. Was on the 3rd floor for observation and the nurses do the bare minimum and don't call the doctor to get approval for much needs meds. Where should I begin. I would first suggest if at all possible GO TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL!!! This hospital is beautiful but the nurses, tech, nutritio, janitors TERRIBLE!! I had & emergency back surgery which at this time I'm hoping and praying heals successfully through the power of God because I refuse to return back to this hospital. After back surgery I was left in my room constantly requesting for assistance which took forever!!! Then I fell due to their negligence the day after surgery and now Im praying I don't have to go through this surgery again. After falling the nurse claims he didn't noticed that I fell so I had to ask him "when you came in the room where did you pick me up from" he states the floor. SO WHAT ON GODS GREEN EARTH WOULD I BE DOING ON THE FLOOR AFTER BACK SURGERY SIR! THE night crew needs to better supervision!!! My bedside commode wasn't changed for over 24hrs. trash on the floor, half a%% cleaning and lord the food..... theres no point in ordering because their going to send you whatever they want and if you don't eat that's your problem. I went there for a broken finger about 6 months ago and they did X-rays. I was there for a few hours to get a splint. My wife went in this afternoon because her lower back was very painful. They took X-rays and after 3 hours of waiting they referred her for a prescription. It never seems very busy so unsure why it takes so long when little diagnosis seems to be done. Happy to hear an explanation of why someone would wait that long, otherwise we will look for other options. read more

This is the worst hospital I've ever been. I would never ever let anyone take me there again. The doctors don't really care. They don't follow through on what the tell you regarding plan of care. I was taken to the hospital yesterday for a panic attack. They took me via ambulance from my bedroom. I was able to move and speak after a few minutes and told them i didn't want to go. They told me too bad. I was going. So i went. When they gave report I could hear them laughing and the ambulance personnel told the hospital I was "combative".(Because i tried to get off the gourney and asked not to go when I was picked up at my home.) I was then treated like a drug addict, after they found my medical marijuana card in my wallet. They treated me like i was high. I wasn't. (I take oil with thc and cbd in it to help with neuropathy from diabetes when the pain is severe. Usually about 2 x a month.) I have no criminal record or drug history of any sort. They made jokes about me being "frisky tonight". I've been in a wheelchair over 5 years from a back injury. They made me feel like going to the bathroom was a burden. I can transfer and walk about 30 steps before my back locks up. They laughed about me not being able to walk further than 30 feet. Like it was a joke. It's no joke. I work full time from my wheelchair and have help in my home so that I keep working. I've worked hard to stay working through my injury. I was there about 5 hours. The second time i asked to go to the bathroom they told me to "walk". Knowing my situation. I was able to write to communicate and speak short sentences. After the panic attack subsided slightly and I was able to meditate and self calm, my bowels needed to empty which is part of the process for many people with panic attacks . It did smell foul. They brought me a commode and they were making jokes about my bm until i was discharged. Non stop jokes and rude comments at the patient's expense at the nurses station. The atmosphere was not professional in any way. I asked for a Kleenex to blow my nose. They ripped off a paper towel and threw it on the bed. The call light was far away from my bed. I asked for it when a staff member walked by. They were rude about that. I cooperated the best I could. It was horrible. My room was right at the nurses station. I heard all of it. I've been a nurse 29 years and am appalled that these staff members acted this way. I have cleaned cdiff and never laughed or made jokes about the patient's smell. (And that is way more rank than a panic attack bm.) Shame on these nurses and UNprofessionals for not treating patients with dignity or respect. I'm utterly appalled at the treatment I recieved there. I told them right away in writing it was a panic attack and I was fine upon arrival. They refused to let me go home. It was a 5 hour ordeal. Non stop nasty remarks about patients and how they wanted to take days off, and time off, and get off if this shift. Just appalling behavior all the way around. read more
