I had a very special tattoo done with my best friend before her first treatment for metastatic breast cancer, stage 4 in Daytona Beach. Found this shop by way of a google search last year when I was looking to start on a half sleeve. Stopped by to discuss my design with Mike Ashworth and made an appointment. He has great ideas for coloring and placement, and works with you to make sure you have a design that you love, and also is great on estimating total hours. I am complimented on my piece daily and couldn't be happier. The shop is clean, the artists are friendly and the work is quality. I would give ten stars if I could. I'm so sadly disappointed with the tattoo artist Brittany, she does beautiful work and I booked my appointment with her over a month in advance gave my deposit and we were good to go! I was super excited! Well with in that time I got the dates mixed up thinking I was scheduled for the 26th when it ended up being on the 24th.. okay shiz happens. Being in the service industry my biggest pet peeve is her lack of customer services and getting back to her clientele... notice the time differences with these messages I sent her! I would never take this long to respond to people who are tying to support your business!! I understand we all need a vacations from work but if you have clients coming up right after your vacation, am I wrong for thinking you should probably take 2 mins of your time to get with them??? I'm a hairstylist I understand the hustle of working with people as I am very busy myself but I would never legitimately ignore someone who is trying to support my business. Highly disappointed. I'd definitely would not recommend booking out way in advance with her. She also gives no other way of communicating with her besides Instagram yet she still never gets back to you. I feel this spot is a hidden Gem. However the set up is put together awesome. Very talented artist that have collaborated at this location. Every artist has their own unique style and perspective. I'd like to give Mike Woods a huge shout for the phenomenal piece he has started on my arm for me. This man takes much pride in the work he does and creates. He's upfront with you and isn't gonna sugar coat anything. He free handed my piece by marker and created a work of art. Jason creates the most ridiculous and creative art from basically any idea you give him. Mike is an innovator. I remember my first day there, I went in and was referred to Mike Ashworth. I wanted to get a tattoo of a flamingo for my Grandma who was very sick at the time from cancer. I called him and made an appointment and he got me in right away! She got to see it before she pasted away and it was thanks to him! He did a wonderful job and it healed beautifully. During the flamingo tattoo I expressed interest in getting a sock on my other leg incorporating old school video games and such. In less than a couple of months he had an amazing sketch drawn up of exactly what I wanted. I can't wait to go back to him and finish up the rest! Thanks again for the great hospitality. I've been coming here over the past few months to fix a 'mistake.' I did a lot of shopping around and asking and found the owner here, Mike Woods, to be well known for his work. He was booked out so I scheduled with Zach here and I've gone through about 20 hours and 4 sessions with him already. I can safely say at this point, his work has been impecable. I gave him a design and idea that I had in mind and it has been coming out great. While it's still not complete, the studio is extremely nice. They have a lot of their art posted on the walls, sanitary doesn't even begin to describe the place. The other artists are extremely positive and don't make you feel like you're some noob when you walk in (a lot of tattoo artists can tend to be that way with clientele if you get around). They're straight forward and honest and the price is fair for what you get. When it comes to tattoos, this is something you pay for what you get. read more

So I can't help but wonder how advent tattoo has been open for two years and not gotten a single review on yelp. This place is awesome! This was my first time getting a tattoo done in a tattoo shop and the experience was definitely better then I imagined. When I picture tattoo shops I think of dark places in sketchy areas, which for me, isn't very appealing. But advent was perfect. The location is great and the entire set up as well, especially the art on the walls. While you wait to get set up it's entertaining to just look at the pictures. My tattoo artist was Tim, who was great, very informative and patient and didn't look at me weird when I asked random questions, which is always nice. He did an awesome job on my cover up (which is still in progress but will only get better). I didn't really interact with the other tattoo artists, but from the vibe I picked up, everyone seemed super chill- just another factor adding to the pleasing atmosphere. I would like a lot more tattoos and I definitely think advent will be my go to from now on. read more

Zack Murray did an amazing job on my first tattoo. Shop was very clean and everyone was friendly and welcoming. My tattoo healed very fast with little irritation, he did an excellent job. Touch ups are free, so I didn't expect much when I returned for one, but Zack spent over an hour perfecting my tattoo because he really cares about his work. Man what more can be said about this place other then out-freaking-standing. I had been wanting to get my Airborne wings tattooed for awhile but was really hesitant after seeing more then a few jacked up pieces. Many of them lacked the symmetry between the left and right wings, more then a few the canopy would be lopsided or just the wrong size, others the risers attached to the canopy would not uniformed in width and poorly executed. I needed someone who could pull straight precise lines and had a true sense about why this had to been done on point. After many weeks of looking around I google top tattoo artist in Houston and found this site http://www.form.ink/best-tattoo-artists-in-houston/ where I came across Jason Martinelli's name. The initial picture I saw was the one of the red rose. I was sold the moment I saw it. The saturation of color against the contrast of the highlights and shading are literally breath taking and the outline was flawless. After I first contact Jason I was pretty much dead set on getting the tattoo how I wanted it, but Jason asked if he could do a 3 dimensional of the actual Airborne Pin and if I didn't like it we could collaborate. After I agreed I shared several pictures of the pin and the designed I had in mind. The day I went in to get the piece done Jason showed me the design he had drawn and again my mind was completely blown away. The design was just highly detailed from straight lines right down to the little knicks in the feather of the wings. He initially told me it was going to take about 2 hours but after 3 1/2, I really got the sense that this guy has a true care and passion for the art he's creating. During the tattoo we took a small break so I could stretch my arm and when I saw what how far he had come along I was completely amazed and when the piece was finished, I couldn't have been more satisfied. This was something that truly honored the 82nd Airborne Div Paratrooper Brotherhood and a piece I couldn't be more proud of to wear forever. read more

To preface this, I am NOT the "typical" tatted-from-head-to-toe, metal-listening, bad ass who walks into a parlor and gets a half sleeve. I'm a starbuck's-ordering, Taylor Swift worshiping, sorority girl from The Woodlands. Additionally, my mother created the "can I speak to the manager" haircut, and I follow closely behind her with a princess' hardly impressed attitude. I've never gone out of my way to give a good review because I expect the standard to ALWAYS be great service (don't judge me). However, this place deserves every compliment, award, and dedicated song possible. Seriously. As someone who's hard to impress, I was BLOWN AWAY. Every great review on here is 100% accurate. With my basic b*tch tattoo idea, Jason never made me feel unoriginal or high maintenance (even though I was). I wasn't great at explaining my vision so we ended up on different pages. He took my idea to next level Yeezy sh*t that anyone else would have been in love with, except, I always have something to...."improve" (I know better than professionals). Although the tattoo was as killer as it comes, it turned out different than I expected (I said it was Yeezy, but I'm more like Chaco). I gave feedback for him to change some things and he basically had to redo the tattoo. Expecting him to be frustrated or irritated because it was completely my fault that I didn't explain better, he reacted the exact opposite. He was humble as pie and HAPPILY redid the tattoo with all the changes requested. He asked me all the right questions and made the best suggestions. I came back a few weeks later and it literally turned out better than I could have imagined. Like, all my sorority friends wanna meet Jason now (but they can't because I'm the kind of girl who lies about where I buy my shoes). He stayed late to finish my tattoo; gave honest and valuable feedback; made me feel comfortable through the pain; and produced one BAD ASS tattoo. Basically: first girl girl in my sorority to get a visible tattoo AND first sorority girl to write a great review. Miracles. Do. Happen. (and I will DEFINITELY be back) read more
