The initial visit was informative and…read morethey assured me that my deviated septum wasn't the main cause of my sinus issues and that a balloonoplasty and turbinate reduction would provide me relief. I also have a cyst in my maxillary sinus that was touched on in the appointment, but wasn't taken care of during the procedure. After the procedure, I had multiple cleaning appointments, all with different ENTs. None of them seemed to be on the same page with aftercare and concerns. I even had one ENT administer numbing spray and then leave the room after. I had a reaction to it and passed out alone in the treatment room. When she found me, she said it could happen sometimes. why leave me alone then? Anyways, each cleaning I insisted symptoms were not improving and they kept telling me keep giving it time. So i did, following aftercare thoroughly. When I had my last visit, I still didn't feel better even though I was supposed to be fully healed by then. I requested another CT scan to see if there was improvement from the procedure but they denied my request and told me to wait another 6 weeks to make sure everything was healed. Mind you, I was told I was healing on time and everything looked great. I seeked out a second opinion because I was tired of not being heard. Within one appointment with the new ENT i saw, she identified scar rings from the turbinate reduction that scarred onto my cartilage, creating an obstruction. She also said there's no way I could remove the cyst without fixing my septum diviation which is more serious than it was made out to be by Advent. So now I have to get a septoplasty, turbinate reduction to fix the scarring, fix my concha bullosa, and remove the cyst that has now taken over my entire sinus cavity. I wonder why none of the ENTs I saw at Advent after my procedure never mentioned seeing any of the scarring in my nose. I felt so dismissed throughout my time working with Advent. I'm so disappointed. They will not recieve a payment from me until this is sorted out. The images I shared are findings from a CT i got after everything i had done with Advent. Several sleep tests and CT scan and a few hundred dollars later I finally got to meet with a doctor for 5 minutes. All to be told this "in house" procedure that takes 15 minutes is not covered by insurance and will be several thousand dollars out of pocket. After getting a second opinion I was told by another ENT that their procedure is to fix chronic sinus infections not snoring and sleeping issues which is not even related to the reason I was a patient to begin with.

I've now had a couple procedures at the surgery center at Froedtert, Sergeant Health…read more There are distinct advantages to having something done here, rather than at a main hospital location. First, parking is close and easy. Usually you can stay very close to the door. Second, the facility is small and check-in is fast and friendly and the waiting area is immediately accessible. They have a coffee machine, a table or two and standard chairs and couches for family and patients. There's also a TV and a monitor which tracks patient progress through their procedure for any waiting family or friends not inside with the patient. The interior waiting areas for patients having a procedure are standard hospital bays, with no doors, curtain access, but a recliner chair for companions or family members where they can stay throughout if they prefer. The privacy is perhaps minimal, but the access for the care time is easy and open. Every team member I've encountered here has been great - friendly, comforting, and this is important, they all seem to make a personal connection - even if it's small, that makes you feel seen as an individual. Happily, the surgical teams have also done great work on my visits. I am definitely loyal to this system Great care. Made comfortable,

The Froedtert/Medical College is a massive organization and complex, so this is a very limited review of one area, which is the Center for Advanced Care, and specifically the Ear Nose and Throat Clinic. Been coming here for several years, and have always been impressed with the level of professionalism, and care. Especially the staff that work with Dr. David Poetker. Would recommend them to others that are struggling with ENT issues. Once you are in the proper parking structure, it's a quick ride up to the 5th floor. Get off the elevator and go east. Before surgery Dr Reider told me if I keep the insurance out and pay cash he would do it for 1300.00, after surgery Dr Reider wants to scam me and bill me 4000.00, this guy is a crook. While on the phone I asked for a statement showing all they would bill me is 1300.00 and I was told they can't put that in writing, good thing I recorded the phone call. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CROOKED DOCTOR. The procedure was a fail, clearly Dr Reider doesn't know what he is doing and then he makes it worst by screwing you out of money. She was feeling fine after a stroke scare (it turned out to be just a TIA) but the sending ER physician wanted a neurologist to follow up after the MRI in the morning. Of course I appreciate the caution, but one has to wonder when the bill arrives, was this because we have good medical insurance? We still got a pretty horrifying bill after. But that's not really the worst of it. So we arrived at night, and registration was nice but we were already tired from the long trek from parking. Then we got directed to another location with an odd name that did not describe the overnight stay she was being admitted for. We immediately hit security and we didn't have the passes required to get through, but the registration desk had already closed. A committee meeting of security and we finally got through and were sent unescorted on a very complicated hike. The destination had no signs, we ended up in a locked corridor that only led to outside. We walked around the outside to the Emergency Room where the security officer directed us across the street to a parking lot, to an overhead bridge which led to the same elevator to the same locked corridor as before. We walked outside again, ended up back where we originally started, a new security officer who had to be talked into letting us in and this time we got escorted to the correct destination, which was actually in the locked corridor we were in, the entrance door was labeled with a completely different name that where we were sent, and this strange room was dark and resembled the hospital wards I experienced in the poor Third World nation of Sri Lanka. It was frightening, but now we had marched over a mile with a heavy overnight bag. The two nurses on duty were very good, but needed to be briefed on her case, NOBODY reads "charts" any more so it's up to the patient and family to have a very good knowledge of prior treatment and medical history. The next day, we were relieved to hear that there was nothing to detect, she got sent home with a heart monitor that again had negative findings (whew), leaving the diagnosis of Transient Ischemic Attack. Every new physician and nurse involved, and there were many, had to be briefed on her immediate and pertinent past medical history because NOBODY reads the "chart," and hence she got stuck (literally) with adhesive for the monitor which she's allergic to, and got a bad rash. I did try to tell them, but they don't record these things or don't read the records. Then the bill came, seems an awful lot for 1) a stay in a primitive ward under construction and 2) me doing a lot of their work repeating her history instead of them reading her notes and record. If she did have stroke, the long long walk would have caused her harm. You don't have much choice in hospitals in situations like this, but maybe you'll be forewarned and better prepared this way.
