I had an infection under my thumbnail. Called ahead and was given an appt time. It was tricky finding my way to drive in, but I did get there on time. It looked busy; they logged me in, and I waited a short while. Less than 15 mins. An aide looked at my thumb and took my vitals. Leaving, she said the practitioner would be right in. I did not even have time to turn on my Kindle (I always take something in case you have to wait, for all my appts.) The nurse practitioner was very pleasant. Gave the thumb a good look and checked for pain. Said she would ask the doctor if it needed to be numbed and cut open. She came back quickly and said antibiotics. Not to squeeze out the pus anymore, LOL. Soak in hot soapy water, not the Epsom Salts I had been using. They did offer a script from them for $10, I declined due to keflex usually being under that amount. Drove a few shops down and got the script for $0. They used my insurance for it. Great place, quick. No hours of waiting at the ER (which my insurance told me to use) , only a $15 copay instead of the ER which is over $100! After all a sore thumb would have been at the low end of the totem pole at the ER. I have never gotten out of Waterman ADH in less that 8 hours! read more

Fortunately, when I needed it, I had a good care experience here today - my first visit to this Centra Care in Mt. Dora. As a walk-in, you should sign in at the patient kiosk first. Almost immediately, I was called to the counter to make my co-payment. A few minutes after that, I was called back for temp and blood pressure, etc. Then in a room for a brief wait to be seen by Dr. Weaver. Overall, I was only there for about an hour, treated, consulted, and then told my prescription had already been called into a nearby pharmacy. Would I return? Yes. I called to verify their hours and if I could walk-in with my physicians order for X-rays. The woman said yes they do that at this location and I asked about how I might need to be dressed to have this done. She confirmed it would be no problem, just no jewelry or metal in my pockets. I went to this location within 30 minutes and the receptionist informed me that they Don't do X-rays at this location. What? Also, this is AdventHealth and my physician is affiliated with them. Very poor communication and they could not even confirm to me where else I might try. You would think they would have some type of literature handout or some other form to help direct people to the other Imaging facility in Tavares A waste of time and I was not impressed with the front desk personnel. read more

The facility didn't have an X-ray tech present so I had to go to the Apopka location where I had to wait with my son again. I was told the provider in Mt. Dora would call with next steps based on the X-ray. When he called a couple hours later, I was told to return to Mt. Dora - 45 minutes from my house - to have a split put on my son's leg. I asked if I could go to the Altamonte location and was told no. I called Altamonte and they said they could accommodate the ask as my 4 yo with the potential fracture and my 6 yo would have to both go for the 45 min drive to Mt. Dora and back for no reason. Altamonte was great and splinted my son's leg then gave him crutches. They also asked the Mt. Dora provider for next steps and were given a referral for me to see a pediatric orthopedist. I was able to get an appointment with an orthopedist for the next day but was given a blank CD of the scans by the Altamonte Springs tech and had to pay for new X-rays only to find out my 4 yo son did NOT have a fractured leg. The file at Centra Care was not read and closed by the Mt. Dora provider until 5 days after the scan and showed the same information that I received after seeing the pediatric orthopedist. The time stamp from the radiologist shows that the scan was read and signed off on before the provider even called me to come back to Mt. Dora to get a splint on my son's leg. Overall, I would NEVER recommend Centra Care and will do everything possible to avoid returning to one in the future. read more

No question the worts care I have ever received. I'm not the type that runs to the Dr for any little cold or virus I catch. 3 days of high fever uncontrollable shivering and soaking my bed with sweat every few hours and a cough that tastes like pure infection it was time to go in. Got checked in. Covid negative. Flue negative. I was barely examined by the nurse practitioner before she said she was going to proscribe me a cough suppressant and to get some Mucinex and if I get worse go to the hospital. This office literally took my money and told me to go home and if I can't tough it out to go somewhere els. On top of that my post care notes were obviously from a completely different patient because they talked about taking Allegra due to itchiness and history of allergies which had nothing to do with me or my symptoms. This place is the worst EVER. DON'T COME HERE. You are greeted with the worst receptionist's in the world. They are completely and disgustingly rude to you making all the comments in the world to make you uncomfortable, not welcomed, to then be told repeatedly the wait time was excessive. If you make it that far you then will over hear the overly loud group conversation amongst the providers and the nurse in the back taking pictures of the computer screen showing all the patients waiting in the wait room and send that off to their work group chat to those coworkers of theirs who took the day off and wanted to share their "misery". And then to be told again, by the rude receptionist, it's over an hour wait and they are not sure when you will be seen. Since you didn't have an appointment which would require you to be keen on timing of y when your love one falls ill. If it wasn't because we are new to the area and my husband is SEVERELY ill not only would they not get my business but I would walk out. But since our hands were tied in a desperate need I DEFINITELY will be reporting them. Sharing patients information such as date of births ( and god knows what else) to poke fun on the ill waiting yo be treated, to a group chat that I'M SURE is not in the HIPPA laws as allowed. Ok.Got there at opening at 8 am. No " reservation " just walked in. 4 other people. 3 came in after me.All were called back before me. Then 2 more people came in. They were called back before me. So now it's been half an hour. Everyone who'd gone in have Al been discharged. So it's just me in the waiting room... Triage person comes out to bring me back 10 minutes later and apologizes that it looked like I wasn't fully checked in. She gets my vitals and rooms me at 8:51. Now I know there are no other patients because I watched them all leave. 20 minutes later,I'm getting ready to call the front desk from my cell to ask if they've forgotten me.The PA finally comes in,does a quick exam and says he wants to write me scripts for a sinus infection. Gives me the option to let them give me the meds for a 5.00 dispensary fee in addition to the cost of the meds. I agreed just for the convenience of not having to wait longer and run the risk of an outside pharmacy not having the meds readily available. I wait another 30 minutes.... So finally done after 2 hours. Again,I know I was just a walk in,but being the only patient being seen (by the time they figured out I was there even though I was in plain sight of the idle front office staff)this could have been run much smoother....while the front desk staff were nice,they were not at all proactive and especially in an urgent care setting,should have been. Will I go back? Probably not. Around here,urgent care centers and minute clinics are just about every block... I chose Advent's because they have my records in their system. read more

I called Advent Health and spoke to Jody. Asked how long the wait was and she said less than one hour. I told her my son was fishing and hooked himself with a treble hook. She said go ahead and bring him in , we'll put him straight in a room. I told him and she was not lying. She got him right in, the MAs were awesome. A PA "diagnosed" me 48 hours ago with prostatitis after my urine came back completely clean and without examining me. Put me on an antibiotic (Cipro) that, I've since learned, is NOT recommended for men over 65 that has caused gastric distress, mild chest pain and no small amount of anxiety. Literally the worst run urgent care facility! Came here because I recently moved to area and haven't gotten a Doctor yet. I was sooo sick and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. I told them I previously have had a hard time getting rid of this type of infection and to put me on a strong med with steroids. I also told them I have had terrible sleep with constant coughing all night and to give me a strong cough syrup. Last night was horrible... I coughed ALL night! I called and asked them to please call in a stronger cough med to the pharmacy. They told me I needed to come in for another appointment! What a racket! To add insult to a financial GRAB....I showed up for my appointment and still haven't gotten in an hour later!!! After two other attempts at finding a suitable clinic, I arrived at AdventHealth. Walked in and they have a table set up with hand sanitizer, masks and COVID questionnaire/pens and a spiritual questionnaire. Proceeded to the front counter where I was completely ignored for about 3 minutes. Then Kathy glanced up and said she'd be right with me. She was folding paperwork into thirds and placing them in envelopes. Would walk to the back credenza and lay it down and come back to folders and do it again. This was not urgent assistance for another patient, it is filler/busy work. I had an injured foot and it was painful to walk/stand so I was getting more and more annoyed. After about 7 minutes she decided she could fit in the person standing there waiting for her. She asked if I had an appointment (no) asked about my insurance and DOB and said it's a 3-4 hour wait. This was 6 pm and they close at 8 pm. I was so fed up by her absolute horrible ability to perform a customer-facing job I wanted to leave. My mom encouraged (DEMANDED) I stay since I could barely walk I asked if we could leave to get dinner, and she said "yes just come back at 7:30". I asked if she could call me when it was time and she said "no come in." Went back in at 7:30 and waited. Saw several people who had appointments that would go ask how much longer and waited in the car until they called them on the phone. I guess since I didn't have an appointment I wasn't allowed that benefit. They locked the doors at 8:00. I was called back shortly after that, and the nurse named Martha was as sweet as they come. Very professional and caring. The Dr was Beenu Joy Aprin. She was professional and ok. I was the last patient and it seemed like she was ready to head home. I wasn't aware this was affiliated with a Christian organization, and I feel their first impression was the receptionist who did not demonstrate anything positive. She alone gave such a negative impression I would not return. The wait time was not as bad as she led me to believe and apparently they prefer appointments, however there were several people with appointments who had to wait well past their time. read more

Got called back ahead of our appts. Saw Dr. Barry Portnoy and he was excellent. Told us exactly what was wrong with us and exactly what medicine he was prescribing. I'm convinced I was only called back because I went to the desk and pointed out my appointment and asked what was going on. Then... I get put into my room to see the doctor when they finally call me back and while sitting in my room waiting for what ended up being a Nurse Practitioner I notice that there's what appears to be dried blood all over the floor by the patient assessment table. Went to have my son evaluated for symptoms of flu. Was told of an extended wait due to short staffed. Fine. It's flu season, I get it. Was seen by the ARNP. Nice lady, good visit. Was told to keep my son home from school for another day and she would write the note. He was in pain so we didn't realize until we drove off that she never gave it to us. Called and was told to come in today and they would have it for us. Just went to get it and was treated like a lying criminal. I work in healthcare. There isn't a reason for the receptionist to be a total tool or to be rude to customers. Period. Get better help at the front please. read more

I was in need of care and didn't want to wait until Monday to go to my primary care provider so I decided to go to an urgent care, as I was looking into places to go I found this urgent care. Based on the other reviews I was a little weary but that all went away when I went through the front doors and was greeted by the check in lady (I didn't get her name) she greeted each guest with respect and kindness and that's something that's hard to come by nowadays in health care. She checked me in in less than 5 minutes and I was called back in less than 2. It was early Sunday morning so I'm sure that helped but it was very nice. I then was assisted by Charlie or Chardee I can't remember, who did my vitals and intake assessments. She was very respectful and funny which made the experience better being someone who HATES going to the doctors. After that I was seen by the ARNP and sent on my way but before I left I chatted with the checkout lady Judith who was just as sweet as can be. Overall great experience! Way to go team!! I have never been treated so well and by a friendlier staff. Went in with a bad burn and in extreme pain and now no pain and able to function without crying. Katura and Matthew were amazing. I felt so comfortable and they had me laughing instead of crying. I've been here twice in the past 6 mos, and I've always had a decent experience. The front desk staff was friendly in the past, and I was seen pretty quick even when they were busy. However, the morning I walked in and there were only 3 people in the waiting room. I walked up to the front desk and I was not greeted. The receptionist didn't even look up from whatever she was doing on the computer. No greeting, no eye contact, and no sign in sheet at the counter anywhere. After three minutes, I just stared her and then she started talking out loud to herself, as if to let me know she was busy. Still no acknowledgement of my presence, no "ill be with you in a moment" or anything! After five minutes, she mumbled something and put a paper on the desk in her file bin. I asked her what she said, and she pointed to the paper (without making eye contact again) and said fill it out. I had to reach all the way across the counter beside her computer mouse to get the paper. She couldn't even hand it to me? After filling out the paper, I returned to the counter to give it to her. Again, another several minutes of silence and no eye contact. I wasn't going to leave the paper with all of my personal information at the desk for anyone to see, so I took it back to my seat and waited. After helping two other people that came in several minutes after I sat down with my completed paperwork, she says "Can I help you?" Yes, finally. I don't know what happened to the previous front desk staff, but the new front desk lady w/ a pixie cut and a yankee accent is very rude. If you don't want to be here, if you don't want to provide customer service, and if you can't make an effort to be friendly when you are representing this office, go back wherever you came from! read more

I had an appointment, and I was not taken into the office until 2 hours later. I was met at the door by a lady, to do my vital signs, that had an attitude right from the beginning. When I was weighted, it displayed in kg. I asked what my weight was and under her breath she said you can google it. In the office I was given a prescription no other instructions and papers. After I left the office, I was able to read the instruction. They advised me to follow up with my PCP (Primary Care Physician). I had told the lady that took my vital signs that my PCP was no longer in the office, therefore I did not have a PCP. Many patients left the office before their appointment because of the length of the wait, all of them had been waiting over an hour. The experience was terrible. read more

I called them and the lady "Jodi" says we have others in front of you it may be another hour. So we wait another hour and we finally got the call but I missed it and called back it hadn't even been a minute and the lady says I'll put you on hold to make sure they ACTUALLY called, when she gets back says the spot was given to someone else you need to pick up when they call. So I tell her I will wait, I waited another 20mins and decided to go home while i waited never received the phone call again. Terrible service. Terrible. The scheduling system is ridiculous. Scheduled a "reservation", arrived 15 min early, checked in online, went in and found out that checking in online meant nothing, an hour later still sitting, people in and out around us, waited to see. People who came in and completed paperwork after went back before. An hour and a half after our reservation time I ask secretary because of people after us going in. Got a lot of double talk, excuses, etc. Receptionist told me that with a reservation it could still be a 4 hour wait. Why even offer reservations? I know the receptionist has a lot to deal with but they were short with us and offered no empathy for the fact that we and others are waiting that long with a "reservation". When I mentioned those who got there and went before the receptionist went so far as to ask the last names of the patients I referred to. Which I remembered but seemed like it could be a confidentiality issues. If I had known that I would have "reserved" a time 4 hours earlier. Just go to the ER. The staff is probably nicer and the wait it probably not as long. 2 hours after our "reservation" time we were called back and the receptionist mockingly cheered that we were being seen. Once in the room it took about 30 minutes and we were seen for about 5 minutes total by the actual physician. I would say they need to fix their scheduling to match the staff and streamline their system to avoid customer complaints about the issues. This could help the staff stay in a better mood for when customers have genuine points. read more

What's the point of even making an appointment?? Then waited another 30 minutes before the doctor came in. Didn't understand what I was there for even though I explained it multiple times to multiple people. Then they provided treatment without even telling me how much it was going to cost - $475. Don't go for COVID testing here. They want to charge you instead of the insurance. They are a huge scam. Doctor sent me to get tested and that's what they told me. Absolutely appalled.
