This is a wonderful hospital for kids. After having some health concerns with my little one I drove straight here and she was seen within 25 minutes . Nurses and doctors were professional and understood my concerns and once they treated her, her pediatrician was able to see her chart and added a follow up appointment immediately to the portal which eases me having to juggle making it over the phone. My 4 month old grandson had cranio synostosis surgery. Dr. Raj, the plastic surgeon, is positively amazing. Dr. Baumgartner, the Neuro surgeon, was awesome also. While in pediatric icu, he received wonderful care. The staff was so kind and helpful to Mom and Dad also. Two nurses in particular went above and beyond in their care and comfort. My review is specific to the Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU. What an OUTSTANDING team of surgeons, anesthesiologists and doctors. My son was scheduled for a heart catheter procedure on Tuesday. We went in, RIO got him ready and he was taken up. The news from this was not good - while checking his atrial septal defect via trans esophageal echocardiogram the doctors (Zussman and Garcia) discovered that my sons defect was too large for the septal occluder patch. They had to deliver this bad news and we could see it pained them to do so. There were a lot of tears but they were very gentle about it. This was awful news - it meant our son required open heart surgery. We were worried and scared. Enter Dr. Pigula. He met with us within hours of the cath lab attempt and explained how he planned the procedure. Better news - he could do the surgery the next day, preventing an agonizing and terrifying wait. They believed they might need to use tissue from the lining to close the defect but he calmly explained how this would go. He put us at ease and scheduled our son for the next day. Every clinician and doctor at this particular unit is a physician of excellence. They came in and updated us throughout our sons surgery which helped tremendously. When he was done, the surgeon came in with a smile - a successful surgery, no need to use the lining and our sons heart would be just fine. Dr. Kaplan is outstanding- good humor and great care. Dr. Pigula is astoundingly excellent. Dr's Garcia and Zussman are also incredible. They gave our son back years on his life. They cared for him as if he were their own. The entire hospital is clean and well taken care of. The hospital food isn't terrible at all and all the common areas are nicely appointed. We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have had this team take care of our child. We are forever grateful. read more

Although I was here for a scary situation..the nurses and doctors made sure myself and my son were comfortable. My son spent 3 days here and because he wasn't allowed to leave his room Tatiana (one of the nurses) made sure that there were toys, cars, books and much more for my son to play with once he woke up. 1 night I did have to leave to pick up my car, we were brought to the hospital by ambulance, and the nurses made sure a volunteer was in the room with my son while I was gone. The room was cleaned everyday, a nurse brought me pillowcases and blankets for me to sleep with, they were always offered more than needed and that's what really stuck out for me. I had an amazing team taking care of my son and he's finally back to his happy self! Thank you for helping my son get better! read more

The nurses were great but the doctorts were not. Can't tell a person wearing a white coat anything. Very sad treatment from do tors after surgery. I called the doctor and spoke to him about the abnormal length in stay and the unorganized attempt to tell me what my kid needed to accomplish to leave the hospital. Our son had to have outpatient surgery. From the time we walked in, everything just flowed nicely. We were checked in immediately, walked (not just told a floor and directions) by the young man who checked us, in to the surgical waiting room. A Child Life specialist came out immediately and engaged our 11 year son and us while they readied a room for us. We were kept in the loop on everything. Cafeteria was great with a bunch of different options. Food was a bit better than average hospital food. From check-in to discharge, everything was great. They even have a pharmacy on the ground floor. Thank you for making our nervous day just a little easier so we could focus on our son. read more

the doctors are slow, problem not resolved; and get ready because all are studying visit your child, 4 days without changing blanket or cleaning the baby room; and when they give you discharge you need to leave immediately; I had come to the hospital by ambulance, we be here 4 days, and my residence is more than two hours and I had to wait in the lobby with my baby for three hours because we threw out of the room immediately give me discharge; and not idea we get discharge because no comunication with parents, So never I came back here! Can't speak to the quality of care but if it is anything like the quality of support staff, stay away. Scheduled my son for surgery but their insurance people apparently can't handle a calendar change and could not work out how to determine coverage past December 31. I tried twice to clear things up by doing their jobs for them but they were still unable to handle the new year. Go elsewhere. If the back office is this bad the resultant service will be no better. read more

I am giving it two stars because the rooms at the emergency room are very nice and clean and the nurse, Katie, was phenomenal, but the access through the main hospital after hours and the actual doctor were really bad experiences, and the valet parking was rude and horrible! When we got out at like 5:40am, they had me standing out there for about 20 minutes and one woman that was sitting at the bench not too far from us ended up being the valet parking but didn't have the decency to ask if I needed my car, she was waiting for me to approach her, I realized this only once the man that was also a valet came outside, I have no idea where he was, he was not parking a vehicle or coming back from the garage, absolutely a rude way to treat an exhausted parent with a sick child. The medical team didn't do enough to find out what was wrong with my daughter, they sent us home only for us to go back the next morning to Arnold Palmer for children (amazing hospital!), however at Advent Health I had to pay the $150 emergency room visit and now going to wait for the outrageous bill for nothing! Very dissatisfy but happy to have found Arnold Palmer! read more

Beautiful facility, fancy rooms etc. The nurses were all really great. But the doctors do not care about healing your child, they care about their referral fees, kickbacks and money. Nothing else. They will use common psychological bullying tactics to get what they want. They will split parents apart to try and convince them the other is wrong. They'll pull you into a room and have you seated while multiple doctors stand around you hovering over. Really obvious, transparent stuff which also lets you know they think you're stupid and easily taken advantage of. If you care about your child (and I know you do) do NOT admit them to this horrible hospital. Terrible "doctors" who should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Worst experience of my life!! I was discharged from the hospital the night before with a healthy baby boy. As advised, Took him to the pediatricians office the next morning, I went to Advent for a simple bilirubin recheck on my newborn (4 days old ) right after the pediatricians office just to make sure everything was good. (It had been high in the hospital) The lady at registration sent me to pediatric ER to have it done, which is absurd considering the germs I had to expose my healthy baby to. They proceed to hook his little wrist up to the oxygen machine before performing the recheck. The machine was old and had tape around the wires just to make it work.(I have pictures if I need to provide) The nurse came in and told me his oxygen was low in his left arm. Which all of this had been perfect the night before when we were discharged from the hospital. They brought in a second and third machine to make sure first one was accurate. They kept having to change out wires because the machines kept turning off and not working properly. When they were "working" they were giving different readings on his oxygen level. Within 45 minutes they had my baby on oxygen, ordered a chest X-ray and an Ultrasound on my baby's heart. They told me I would have to be admitted and stay overnight for observation. Now keep in mind I had just given birth 4 days prior. I had to have an episiotomy and I was trying to keep a breastfeeding schedule. I'm in a lot of pain, I'm hungry, thirsty and my baby needs to eat. My baby is crying and screaming and so stressed out from everything we were going through. I'm livid at this point, I told them it seemed as though their oxygen level machines were faulty because they couldn't get them to stay on and work properly. They didn't seem to care. All of theses procedures and waiting for the results was a total of 8 hours from the time we got there. They came back to tell me everything came back normal but I needed to follow up with a cardiologist and that I could go home. One nurse told me now I could go home and forget that it ever happened!! Really!!!??? Shame on you Advent, I will let everyone I can know what kind of experience I had. I'm not sure what kind of operation your running over there but I shouldn't have to pay the bill I have coming to me because of your faulty machines and nurses with no clue what they are doing. To make it even worse, I get a call the next morning from the cardiologist wanting me to confirm my appointment they set for me even though there's nothing wrong with my baby!!!! Someone needs to address this!! I have contacted my insurance company and let them know what happened. I will never set foot back in Advent for Children! read more

My 2 years old grandaughter was taken here on Sunday July 31st with a 103 fever worst experience ever. Without getting tested the PH doctor on duty stated that she most likely had Covid He was told that the baby was running a fever for the past few days and has had a bad cough on and off for a couple of weeks. They gave her fever reduction medication got tested for Covid and came back negative so they sent her home. They refused to do any bloodwork or check for infections or test her for RSV. This suppose to be a Children Hospital but obviously they don't care at all, the way she was treated was ridiculous I will make sure none of my family members takes their children there ever. Her doctor will be seeing her tomorrow because she is still feeling sick with a bad cough hoping for the best. But this hospital needs a change of Staff. Staff that cares for children health. How are you going to presume it's Covid without testing then test comes back after a couple of hours and he didn't show his face the nurse gave us the negative results and discharge papers and not even she was caring at all. I have an upcoming appointment at the NF clinic here so I called the hospital to find out where there was info online to share with my family. The operator screamed and laughed at me until I was almost crying, insisting there was no such clinic in existence and I was a confused little girl. I'm 26 and have brain tumors, how dare she insist these things! I requested to speak to a supervisor and she transferred me to the security desk. I'm disgusted and I'm fairly certain this hospital isn't qualified to treat NF2. I can't even find a way to reach the NF2 clinic itself, I had to wait a week to hear back from them. read more

If at all possible to give a neg.5 I would...Directly due to the security guards (Orlando) unacceptable performance...He had the compassion of a serial killer... On the evening of June 30th. experiencing a reaction to chemo therapy I went to the closest ER to my home(Osceola Pky and Orange in Kissimmee)...I could barley stand and a chair would have been so nice but NO! Orlando needed to flex some muscle and had me stand arms stretched and began questioning every metal button on my person.. I was then treated well by the intake staff and PA on duty...Turns out I would have needed transferred to a full service hospital so I checked out and headed to another ER at OR and was Admitted with extreme dehydration an inflamed pancreas, and burned esophagus. Once again, the inside staff could not have been more professional... Advent Health..If this is your front line man good luck. This cop wannabe will cost you big money one dy. My 15 year old son was rushed to the WD Pavilion from FH Altamonte since he is a child (a man sized child though, he is nearly 6 feet tall, 200 + lbs). As an employee at FH, I had heard how good the WD pavilion is, but hadn't been on a tour yet. I was incredibly impressed. My son's favorite part was when they gave him a choice of flavors for his surgical mask, and he chose Mountain Dew. They had other flavors like cherry, grape, Pepsi, that kind of thing. The room he had was lovely, it was private so we didn't have to worry about another crying child waking him up while he was recovering. Also, he was kind of embarrassed because he had rectal surgery and he would have been mortified if he'd had to bare his bottom with another family steps away, behind a curtain. We had a great flat screen TV with Disney movies loaded into it, and even though he is a teenager, we had a great time re watching old favorites, plus I had never seen Tangled before so I was happy too. There is a special room for kids to get out of bed and hang out with other kids if they choose. My son did try that but all the kids on our floor were under the age of 6 so he gave up on that. The best person we ran into was the Child Life Specialist. Seriously, I'd change my career at FH to have that job! I wish I could remember her name, but her job was to come into the room to keep my son entertained with toys and electronics. They had low tech stuff like coloring books and crayons, and also ipads, Nintendo DS, that kind of thing. My son asked for the iPad and then erased every single Justin Bieber song loaded into it, and loaded Disturbed onto it instead. She scolded him when she found out, but she smiled the whole time and I was busy laughing over it myself. The fold out couch/bed was fairly comfortable, but I slept in the rocking chair so I could be next to my son the entire night. One caveat: there needs to be a coffee station/snack area for parents up there. I left one time to get something to eat and of course that is when the doctor came up to see me to review my son's surgical results. I was pretty upset over that. I'm a diabetic and HAD to have something to eat or else I would have ended up in the hospital as a patient instead of just a mom! We were there for four days. We ordered food from the cafeteria and it was delivered to our room, even for me! Unfortunately, with us being in the children's ward, the meals were very small for my linebacker sized kiddo. 5 chicken nuggets is not even an appetizer. So once I knew the doctor was done with his rounds, I'd run down to the cafeteria to get him more food. The very last "complaint " (and honestly, I can hardly complain) is that my son was considered a fall risk due to his surgery, and they make you wear yellow grippy socks to identify you as such; well, they couldn't find any to fit his gargantuan feet. I guess they don't have too many size 14 man feet in the children's ward. Oh well... read more

Florida Hospital Pediatric Orthopedics Unfortunately, my daughter broke her thumb Sunday. I went to the Florida Hospital Centra Care that evening. Due to the type of dislocation in her thumb, he did not have the adequate tools to correct so instead of making us go to the ER this same night I was instructed to see an Orthopedic doctor Monday. I was told to call about 8:15am to request a same day appointment. I called the first time no answer. The second time I called I was placed on hold. When the receptionist came back I explained I needed a same day appointment. The girl asked for my insurance I told her she needed the type of plan. Me being flustered I couldn't remember if it was a PPO or HMO plan but I asked, either way, can I at least schedule and give the info when I come in? She told me no because she wasn't sure if I needed a referral from my daughters' primary doctor. I'm now frustrated I say no problem let me call the insurance and I'll call back. I call the insurance to verify I have an open-access plan no referral needed. So I call back the next girl I spoke with name was Ebony I tell her my insurance she continues to take my demographic info. I realize she asks nothing about which type of insurance plan I have but as we continue the call she asks about my daughters injury and when it happened. I tell her last night. She proceeds to tell me I will need to wait 3-5 days for the swelling to go down so I will be wasting my time seeing a doctor today. They won't be able to do anything? I ask her twice you mean to tell me I'm supposed to allow a child to wait 5 days with a broken finger? She says yes. I disconnect the call. I called Nemours scheduled an appointment, got my child seen, she was cast the same day! I'm so disappointed in Florida Hospital and their service. read more

Yesterday my 4 week old son needed blood work, I took him the FL Hospital Disney Pavilion. Their pediatric lab is in the medical building right next to the hospital. I cannot tell you how WONDERFUL they were there. I was so anxious about the experience, and it couldn't have been better. Not only did they go the extra mile for my son, but also my 4 year old daughter who was just along for the ride. I highly recommend going there if your LO ever needs lab work done. No extra cost (actually with our insurance it was free). We drove all the way from Orange City, and it was totally worth the drive! read more

The hospital has attained the highest honor of magnet status and is continually bringing in the best doctors in their fields while creating a healing environment that focuses on family-centered care. The hospital is beautiful and was designed by Disney Imagineers. It's definitely worth checking out. read more
