We have needed. To go to the emergency room twice and both times the staff has been prompt, professional and helpful. THe doctors and staff made the difficult situation much easier. This ER is a training hospital for other hospitals and has great staff. read more

Now a 'teaching' hospital, it appears that the organizers are recruiting for staffers from their Alumni and I believe this creates a synergy. I am extremely disappointed with the level of service and care provided at Adventist Health Hospital in Ukiah. From the beginning, my experience was marked by a lack of professionalism, compassion, and basic accountability. Calls and complaints went unanswered or were met with dismissive, sometimes downright rude, responses. On more than one occasion, I was hung up on or spoken to in a snarky, condescending tone by staff members. It's disheartening and unacceptable, especially in a healthcare setting where patients and families are already under stress. There is a clear breakdown in communication and follow-up, and no one seems to take ownership of issues raised. Even more concerning is the risk to patient safety -- medication changes or removals occurred without proper explanation or consent, leaving patients vulnerable and unsupported. If you have the option, I strongly urge you to seek care at another facility. Adventist Health Ukiah has proven, in my experience, to be unreliable and potentially harmful due to its lack of proper patient care, responsiveness, and accountability. Your health is too important to leave in the hands of a hospital that doesn't prioritize it. So no you failed miserably, I will nto be calling you to file the same complaints I already filed several times with your teams. The hospital is unable to provide Me with prescriptions for medication and appliances needing a prescription. They tell me they have no licensed Physicians that have a Federal DEA number in Mendocino County. The Adventist Medical Providers have never attended Medical School and my only option is a long drive to San Francisco not possible due to advanced age and disabilities in spite of my being covered by Blue Cross/ Blue Shield coverage that pays Almost 100% of bills at all Major Hospitals both in USA and abroad. read more

There are some excellent doctors here but whoever is overseeing the show - two thumbs down. I've already had some terrible interactions with Adventist - be clear they are a FOR PROFIT disguised under the "Christian" label. This is the second time I've gone to have labs and the paperwork is not there. Call and everyone is at lunch. When sitting in the waiting room the other day a woman was called up and told she needed to reschedule. She drove over and hour to be there. When she left, the admins talked among themselves how the doc had been waiting in the back for her patient - they just weren't on it. No one checked in with the doc. And then randomly the doc had an emergency and had to go. Which that happens for docs - I get it. But really a waste of both their time. Adventist needs to get on their efficiency and also stop hiding under the we care good Christian umbrella - it's ripped and leaking horrendously. read more

Very very slow. I had a heart attack last year, and they are still trying to figure out a diagnosis. My appointments are several weeks apart. They're nice people, but that doesn't help me with dealing with the stress of having a heart disease, but not knowing what kind of disease. They still don't have a treatment plan for me. read more

If you're cool with unauthorized random people barging into your room while you're trying to breastfeed, this is the place for you! HIPAA violations be damned! I went to the ER here a week ago, and every time I come to this hospital especially the ER, I'm always blown away by how rude and numb the staff is. There job is essentially to make you feel better and calm. Not talk to you like your a five year old, who doesn't know what your talking about, when explaining the issue going on with your own body. Any time I've gone to other hospitals they always find issues with the diagnosis from Ukiah. Even when they receive paperwork that informs them about my Ukiah visits. Hello my name is Nancywalker I was a patient at Ukiah Valley Adventist hospital on Monday, July 19, 2021. I went in with excruciating pain that had awakened me at 3 AM it was on my right side and I felt it was a kidney stone. I have also suffered from small bowel obstruction's so both being few and far between I'm not sure which one it may have been at the time we entered the building. We were seen and put into a room immediately. I asked for pain medicine immediately because I was screaming in agony for the 1.5 hoursFrom waking at 3 AM to arriving to the hospital at 4:15 PM. I I have been a patient here at the hospital four times prior with kidney stones and three times prior with small bowel obstruction's. All are records in my chart at the hospital. All are excruciatingly painful beyond belief I can only equate it to childbirth since I have done that twice as well. Upon arriving the triage nurse put me in the room I beg for pain medicine they said they would get the doctor to look at me an hour and a half later the doctor actually came in and looked at me and said we needed to run some tests she had prescribed IV Tylenol. That cut the pain back from 100% to about 85% pain level. The pain came back within 30 minutes of receiving the Tylenol and it was back to screaming and begging for pain medicine again. After waiting until 9 AM nurse Wyatt finally entered the room and said he was giving me a shot of Dilaudid. And then he left me in the room with the door closed for another 45 minutes that shot did a little to alleviate the pain in the kidney. I screamed for another 45 minutes. Finally Wyatt came back in and said we're going to give you some fentanyl. That worked but my complaint is that they could easily have looked at my chart to see that I had been in over the past five years nine times with these episodes and they could easily have called my kidney doctor Dr. LaMonica so that someone could have been actually tending to my care instead of sticking me in the room and closing the door on me to scream by myself in shear panic and horror . When I asked Wyatt why he wouldn't help me he said Nancy I have other patients dying out here as if my hair was less important I'm really pissed off at this hospital at the care they gave me at the 4.5 hour of being ignored and screaming in shear agony. This is a state of the atr hospital, no so back water jungle tent in the Amazon without supplies. and I think they should be looked into how I was treated poorly unfairly and without regard. I'm a 61-year-old woman and I think that played a lot into the fact that they couldn't be bothered to take care of me and help me. I did have an advox with me so they simply ignored me. Shame on you Ukiah Adventist health center you are the worst caregivers I will never come back to you I will drive one hour to Santa Rosa the next time this happens so I do not have to suffer through your bullshit you should be ashamed of yourself of what you did to me and what you're probably doing to other people something is definitely wrong with your business model. first of all I Love my Adventist Primary physician, I've lost over 30lb by his placing me on a plant based diet & exercise .The problem is employees at Adventist and their lack of professional manner when they're working. This A.M. I had occasion to call Adventist Radiology Ukiah, i have 3 separate orders from my primary Physician for ultrasound radiology . The girl answering the phone in Radiology sounded like a stoned or half asleep teenager .The lack of a professional demeanor in the person i spoke with this morning at Health Care Services @ Adventist Ukiah is angering, BECAUSE THE SCHEDULER'S LACK OF PROFESSIONAL ATTITUDE WAS VERY DEMEANING . Giving 0 respect to patients calling in .SHE clearly conveyed the message of ".oh I'm half asleep here , why did you bother me?" I recognize Ukiah Adventist's goal is to undermine patients, and these phone answering employees know that and so they don't work any harder than they have to . ( as i requested the girl to behave on the phone in a professional manner, she says you know we are recording this call, i said, good it needs to be recorded AND HEARD, "YOU HAVE AN EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL DEMEANOR FOR A PERSON WORKING IN HEALTH CARE. This is a disturbing example is of how Adventist undermines their patients and tries to usurp OUR confidence , example when you go to see your Adventist Primary Dr, the Medical Assistants working there are told to weigh us in Metric and supposedly they will give us our weight in the exam room.. its a slick way Adventist keeps TIGHT CONTROL OVER PATIENTS, get it??? well...being given our weight result doesn't happen because the MA once in exam room, claims she cant figure the weight in metric out. Had a slight scare yesterday while on vacation in Sea Ranch, and was taken to the Adventist Health ER here in Ukiah Valley. Very rarely do you hear people say that they had a "good experience" in the ER, but it's safe to say that the folks working on Sunday around 3pm were on point and provided me great care. As soon as I was brought in by stretcher, I was placed into a room and then there were 5 people hooking me up to machines, taking my blood pressures and asking me all the questions as to what happened, then reassuring me everything will be fine. From what I remember they then gave me medication and I began feeling better once the IV was in providing fluids. I can really say that the staff made me feel safe and the doctor who assessed me was thorough. After less than 2 hours I was discharged. I would recommend the ER team at Adventist Health in Ukiah. read more

Newest Update: Imagine that this place can get eve worse. If another MD has faxed an order (routine basic) and Adventist doesn't even to that routine basic testing, they may source it out without telling you. The order is supposedely forwarded to another Adventist hospital. It will take you DAYS to track it down to get it scheduled. Previous update: You have limited choice in rural areas and your only hospital is likely going to be faith based. This is a Seventh-day Adventist Church owned hospital with benchmarks of care that are in average national range but with low quality patient eperience. If you think it is unconscionable that caregivers don't care enough to mask, then definitely avoid this hospital. In my experience, ~75% of staff are condescending and/or not very competent and/or seem like they are doing you a favor just by breathing. Are staff just unhappy because of working conditions or is this the general state of rural hospitals because they can't recruit excellence locally? Expect a stark patient experience - bring your own reading material and anything else you might need for comfort or long waits. If you have an advocate/friend, they are going to be your best bet for keeping you comfortable. Expect the bare minimum to average quality of care (e.g. barely within limits of established guidelines). If you have a serious condition, go further for a second opinion. Also expect bilking of billing systems (e.g. why get everything done in one visit when you can bill for more?). If you can go outside of Mendocino County you may need to go even further than Sonoma County as Santa Rosa Sutter and Providence do not offer anything much better. Don't bother with their bot asking you for feedback or a rep asking you to discuss issues further with them. It's a waste of your time. Best place to share and warn others is online reviews (e.g. yelp, google, healthgrades, etc.). read more

I was on vacation last week in Ukiah when I came down with a second bout of actute pancreatitis. Kaiser in SF directed us to Adventist Health. From the ER time on, I was attended with care, intelligence, and sensitivity. These on the part of my doctor, nurses and aides, all without exception. It was kind of extraordinary! The staff seemed to like and respect each other, there felt to be a real team spirit behind their work. I also appreciated that about half of them are still wearing masks. If I had to have this scary experience, I can't think of a better place to have been cared for. Only "debit" was my hospital room, which was cold and couldn't be made warmer. Otherwise...my experience was probably as good as it could have been. read more

I have severe health issues for unknown reasons and have been to dozens and dozens of doctors and hospitals and I can whole heartedly say the worst doctor and care from a doctor I have ever received. First thing she said to me was "so what are you wanting me to do for you today exactly" and provided to not even try to help me or give any recommendations or advice. And was very belittling at some points acting like my medical needs were not as important because they didn't know how to fix it when I can't eat most food now and can't do anything day to day or even go outside or work. She said I wasn't "in diet need and it wasn't life or death if I went home. Absolutely disgusting and the worst care I've seen from a doctor. And they kept using the excuse they were short staffed, i understand that for fast food and retail places, but for people who are supposed to be helping people with medical emergencies to put patients care on the back burner because and use that as an excuse is not the same importance leave and hospitals and doctors should know that most of all. Ps I was there for blood in stool and she said they couldn't do much unless I was throwing up blood. Had my labs done here and paid up front as a self-pay (you get a very discounted rate with no insurance) A month later, I receive medical billing for more money. When I called accounting, they stated that I only paid for the hospital services not the pathologist. When I ask for the cost of services, I am asking for TOTAL cost. That way I can shop around. It works very well when I call around for vet services for my dog. Needless to say, the medical industry is corrupt with too many middle men (insurance companies, medical billing and gov't subsidies that short the hospital so they make it up by raising rates in everyone else), and Adventist Health isn't any better. Disturbing how many negative experiences I've had here over the years. First one being I accidentally lacerated the web of my fingers, the next day I could not move my fingers. Went to er, doc asked how I got the laceration then told me I need to "work on my story" & insinuated I cut myself from trimming pot, what??? My insurance covers 100% of er visits, still got a $1,200 bill, had to call several times to clear up. Next is Dr Cho who I hope is no longer able to see a patient ever again. He claimed a vasectomy takes 30 minutes... 4 hours later he calls me into the room to explain he can't "grab the tube" needs my boyfriend to chew up another Xanax so he can try the operation all over again, left the room to get him some water but didn't come back for 30 minutes all while leaving the door open, my boyfriends genitals exposed to the waiting room. He ended up throwing in the towel, saying we need to pay him $5k to have the procedure done in the hospital, super glued bf's genitals closed, told him not to wash the area so of course it gets infected with puss. We go back for a checkup, he says it's fine and to leave the area alone. We go home and pick the super glue out ourselves, wash then he finally heals but now has an incomplete vasectomy. I google doc Cho after this and find his license was revoked couple years ago for incompetently letting women go from OB with severe bleeding or low vital levels, frequently. Insane. Next is Dr Hannekin she is so cold and rude, speaks out of line. (And her long artificial nails that go against Adventist employee policy??) I called patient rep to speak about this, couldn't get a hold of anyone left a message still haven't heard anything back. This was 3 months ago. Adventist you need to hire more competent people to listen to patient complaints and weed out the bad employees. read more

I had an accident at a local bar, I tripped and cracked my head and was rushed to the hospital. Apparently the staff at the ER do not know the difference between someone who is conscious and someone who is blacked out. When I came to, five hours later I woke up and none of my emergency contacts were contacted. I could've broke my neck or worst and no one was there, or called to be there. The staff did not come and tell me what had happened. When I asked the nurse if I could leave There was no discharge or explanation of what I should expect after having a blackout and a concussion. I was simply dismissed and told I could just leave. At this point I am still unaware what had happened and I was still very disoriented from the accident. There was no concern by the staff Of my well-being. I could've walked home and fell again because of how badly I was disoriented. but luckily I ran into a friend in the waiting room who was able to give me a ride. Is there a lawsuit possibility yes but luckily I'm not the sewing type. Very disoriented and unaware what had had happened to me I suffered pretty bad concussion and I was given no instructions of what to expect. I was in pain for three days until I could see my Doctor Who explained everything that was happening to me. If any of you Need to go to an ER and you have time to drive up to Willits or Santa Rosa I would suggest doing so. These people do not care if you live or die or if your love ones know that you were in an accident. And now we await a giant medical bill, because that's the only thing they are good at, requesting money for their shit service. To anyone visiting our local ER I wish you luck and please request them to contact your emergency contact because apparently they don't know how to do that. read more

I would strongly recommend you go to a bigger city hospital than this backwater town. The physicians here are missing plenty of braincells. Today I had to take a trip to Urgent Care for a split knee that occurred while I was running to my car to start it as my poor dog was just bitten by a rattlesnake. Gretchen and Jim are unfortunately the only names I can remember. But my experience was 100% the best Urgent care trip I've ever had. Everyone I came in contact with the caring and kind to me. I was informed of exactly what was happening every step of the way. Jim took so much time cleaning up my wound and was chatting with me the entire time which was very comforting. He was concerned about my comfort the entire time. Gretchen stitched me up and again, made sure that my comfort was #1. She checked on me several times while I was getting cleaned up. All in all a 10/10 experience considering the circumstances. read more

I came here yesterday morning with really bad abdominal pains, after dealing with the stomach flu for the past few days. In my past, an ER is always packed and will be waiting a minimum of 8 hours. I'm not from Ukiah, so I was expecting that. I was in my room within 10 minutes of walking through the ER. The nurses were prompt and friendly, and after a CT scan, among some other tests, we found what might have been the culprit. In total, I was there for three hours. I was given a RX for nausea/vomiting and they gave me some meds in my IV that helped my pain. I felt I had a really good experience with this hospital. Thank you! read more

Ok, so the nurses can be a bit brusk in the ER, especially when I came there cause I had a virus, no big deal. Except that for a 90 degree day, I wanted a blanket. I couldn't drive and was a tad disoriented I visited this hospital a month ago. Anyways, I got good honest care. I really did. I am sure there are times when perhaps this place doesnt do as well as one would hope,but I believe that the emergency room folks for the day shift were quite helpful. The actual medical staff of this small rural hospital are adequate to most tasks they will encounter within this community. The administration - as has been mentioned in other reviews - are emphatically not. The degree of incompetence I recently experienced from several hospital departments was shockingly bad; I would go into detail, but I literally fear retaliation - and this is the only game in town. Really the only game for 60 miles. Paddy Chayefsky could not have imagined this sort of sinkhole of Peter Principle exemplars when he wrote 'The Hospital' - maybe Franz Kafka could have done it justice. I went to the ER on 11-13-15 because I was quite concerned about a friend of mine with his health deteriorating over the last few mos. We live in Lake County which is 37 miles away and although there is Sutter Lakeside Hospital nearby and he had gone there recently for treatment I felt that a second opinion was justified. Although we did not get good news after a ct-scan and lab tests were completed, I feel that everyone on the staff are very professional and we were treated with the utmost of respect. So in the future if I am bleeding to death my husband knows that we will be traveling the extra 30 minutes to receive top of the line care. read more
