We've been patients at Sellwood Medical/Pediatrics since 2013, and we're so beyond done with this…read moreplace. I'd warn friends and family to stay away. Our favorite providers (Dr Pritchard and Nancy Casey) left. Some staff members can be pretty unhelpful and truly only seem to care about their billing and rules. The other negative reviews are spot on, sadly. (The current exception is Jonathan, a medical assistant in the adult clinic--he's kind, personable, and was excellent with my teen, but alas, he only does the check in/vitals part). They are consistently late--we always wait at least 30 minutes up to an hour most recently for our appointment to begin, and this is in addition to taking kids out of school to be there 15-20 minutes early to check in! They absolutely do not respect a patient's time and offer zero apology. It's maddening. I've messaged different providers for different family members or reasons, and the same person writes back each time, so it's definitely not secure or private in any way. She also types the absolute minimum and doesn't seem to want to help in any way, but if you call, they tell you to message via the portal. They up-charged us for longer or more involved appointments for my kids even though we've only discussed one issue at the short appointment, and when I questioned the billing department, they said they'd immediately remove the charge since I asked about it. Since I asked?! So if people don't notice and question the additional charge, they just get scammed? Appalling. They recently told me the next available check in for a child was in several months. I said our prescription will lapse before then, and they asked if I still wanted to schedule. I had to point out in writing that they need to refill the prescription temporarily so it doesn't lapse if we have to wait for an appointment or else please fit us in for even a video appointment. I had to fight this back and forth and once I said I need to confirm you are refusing to refill a child's necessary medicine prescription and also making her wait for an appointment so the medicine will lapse and it will affect her health immediately--finally then they suddenly had an appointment available in two days (which was a video appointment where we waited almost an hour for them to come online and didn't until I called the office and told them we were online waiting.) The final straw was in taking a teen to discuss a medical issue they were already anxious about, and the provider made a big deal about her weight to the point of hinting that she'll develop an eating disorder (child feels fine about their diet and eats well/healthy) and we left the appointment with teen crying and anxious about a condition they don't even have! We're done with SMC, and I'm so sad. Dr Pritchard and Nancy Casey were amazing women and great resources for our neighborhood, but sadly this place has gone so far downhill since they left that I won't risk my kids' health here anymore.

The staff at Sellwood Medical Clinic showed a lack of empathy and professionalism. Here is a summary of three interactions I had with this clinic. In November 2025, I arrived about 30 minutes early for an appointment and was told to wait until my scheduled time. Once I was taken to the exam room, I waited another hour for the clinician to arrive. At the time, I did not mind because she was thorough and friendly. She recommended that I return for a well-person visit. I had to wait 5 months for a well-person visit appointment. Then, shortly before the appt, it was cancelled. I received an email and voicemail saying the provider had to leave early and that I needed to call to reschedule. When I called back to reschedule, the next available appointment was another month away. My most recent experience, two weeks ago, is the reason I am writing this review. The appointment I had been waiting five months for finally arrived. I completed the online pre-check-in hours in advance, which took more than 20 minutes, and I paid my copay. Because of rain and traffic, I arrived shortly after my scheduled appointment time. The clinic said staff told me I was nine minutes late. I had also paused outside to let an elderly couple enter first, which delayed my check-in by a few minutes. I was refused care and told I would need to reschedule. I explained that I urgently needed the visit and calmly asked whether they could reconsider. I also noted that my previous appointment had been cancelled and that this was the rescheduled date. Attending these appointments requires time away from work. The front desk employee went back again to relay my request. By that point, I was in tears. During this time, two women behind the reception desk were giggling and laughing. I do not know what they were laughing about, but I was visibly upset while they looked my way, talked, and laughed. It felt unsettling and deeply unprofessional. Ultimately, I was not seen. Neither clinic management nor the clinician came out to speak with me. The front desk employee apologized again and said I would have to reschedule. Afterward, I emailed the clinic to ask for more information about their "9-minute policy." I was told in writing that no such formal policy exists. Their response stated: "The 9 minute grace time for being late to an appointment is not a clinic policy, it is the most amount of time we can give for a patient to arrive for the appointment and still be seen." I then had to request they refund my copayment 3 days after this incident. Overall, this experience was highly unprofessional. The clinic delayed my care by cancelling and postponing my appointment, then denied services because I was allegedly nine minutes late. I will not continue trying to receive care at Sellwood. A medical clinic and its staff should treat patients with compassion and empathy, and I experienced neither. I left feeling embarrassed and unsupported. Although it may take time to see another provider, the wait will be worth it. I encourage patients to choose a clinic where they feel heard and supported.

The first time I went there, we arrived 20 minutes early. They told me I couldn't go to my appointment because I needed to be there 45 minutes early to fill out paperwork, even though I was originally told to arrive 20 minutes early. I needed an STI test done, and they told me I would have to wait weeks just to get an appointment. Today, I got a referral for OHSU. When I called them to see if my referral had come through, they told me it had not. So I called Pacific Northwest Primary Care to find out when the referral was being sent, and the receptionist told me it could take up to two weeks for a single referral. They also shut the entire place down during lunchtime. This is the worst provider experience I have ever dealt with in my many years on this earth. Whatever you do, don't come here. It's a shame because my primary care physician is great, but the rest of the place is just absolutely terrible.

Everyone be forewarned- pay heed to the previous bad reviews about this clinic's awful "customer…read morecare" policies towards arriving for appointments. Can't echo other people's feelings enough. Their policy and customer enforcement plan is a big Middle Finger to you and your needs dressed up as regard for "providing patient care in a timely manner". Their policy for appointments is arrive 15 minutes before your appointment (if you have filled out their pre-visit questionnaire) or 30 minutes before (if you haven't filled out the questionnaire) so that you can then sit around for 15-30 minutes waiting for your actual appointment. The bottom line should be that if you arrive within a couple minutes of your scheduled appointment with your pre-visit info filled out, you should be sent straight back to the doctor and not turned away (particularly in light of the nature of the visit - injury etc). My wife (who works at a local hospital herself actually caring for others) threw her back out and needed to see someone to get some muscle relaxers or pain meds until her PT appointment next week. She arrived 2 minutes after the 15 minute check in time - literally 10:47 rather than 10:45 (and yes, she had dutifully filled in the check in stuff ahead of time) and was told (uncompassionately) that because of the no-tolerance policy that she would not be seen. She left and had to make an appointment at a Urgent Care clinic in Lake Oswego several hours later. What an awful way to treat people. Our family of 3 will no longer be going to this clinic for "care". We will spread the word to our neighbors, family and friends to find a better option- there are lots out there. Good luck to this declining clinic with their declining customer satisfaction ratings. Oh, and you can send the invoice for my recent visit to collections, because I'm not paying that Sh*t. Maybe they'll turn it into a more useful place when they're gone- like an empty building or something.

I spent months developing a relationship with NP Owen, and have tried to clearly communicate concerns I have had with her tone, word choice and direction with my "care" for the last several weeks. My concerns have been met by bullying, canceling of appointments made and then today, a refusal to speak to me due to her inability to charge my insurance. I have no idea how she is unable to charge my insurance for a telemedicine appointment, since we have had these appointments previously where she was paid. I have experienced passive-aggressive blame-shifiting via her assistant's messages, a lack of accountability by NP Owen and a marked increase in my anxiety from attempting to communicate with her. I have have shared and tried to address all of these concerns with NP Owen through her messaging portal and have taken accountability for any ways I have contributed to our recent negative interactions, all to no avail. Over these last several months I have seen NP Owen, I have received exactly ONE natural medicine, and been pushed into taking many western medicines, from my vantage, NP Owen has no interest in addressing health concerns with natural medicines, and is more of a pharmaceutical drug-pusher than many regular M.D.s I have met. I feel that NP Owen is not a safe person to communicate your medical concerns with and I strongly recommend that you find another provider if open communication, empathetic care and an integrative and natural-medicine based approach to your health issues is your preference.
