This is by far the best outdoor adventure I've ever experienced. To put that into perspective, over the last 20 years, I've been on many fly fishing trips throughout Montana, and several lake fishing trips throughout Montana and California. The highlight of the trip is the energy you feel as a result of the heart and soul that Ethan and Wendy put into the planning and the execution of all the details. Without being pretentious, Ethan and Wendy are fun, educational, righteous, borderline spiritual, and stewards of the wonders of nature. Their extensive preparation and good vibes allowed us to kick back and enjoy the fishing, the adventure, the wilderness, and the good times. Ethan is incredibly patient and a great teacher, helping me improve my technique and my chances for catching a fish. I caught 4 rainbow trout and 2 whitefish in the Deschutes River, and Ethan was always right there to take photos and GoPro video to capture the moment. The next day we fished a lake near Grass Valley while floating in a pontoon self-propelled by wearing fins. If you've never fished like this before, you really have to try it. It's the most amazing feeling to be 'floating in the water' while you have a 20" fish pulling your line; sometimes you let this pig run, and it'll swim clear across the other side of the lake. We were the only ones on this incredibly beautiful and pristine lake and our back drop was a clear view of Mount Hood. Ethan and Wendy have thought of every detail, and they listen to their customers tastes in order to personalize the experience. One example is that Ethan overheard I enjoy Yerba Mate, and the next day, Ethan played the role of the Cebador (a version of a Barista), and came equipped with a cured gourd, and bombilla, fresh Yerba Mate, and hot water in the thermos, just in time for a quick pick me up after a long morning of fishing. Talk about Feeling the Good Energy!!!! Another example is that on the way to the lakes near Grass Valley, we spotted a deer and her two baby fawns, and we stopped to watch this springtime rare sighting. I only met Ethan one other time, and this was in a Corporate setting. He and Wendy exceeded all my expectations. Ethan is extremely knowledgeable about fly fishing, the wilderness, Wendy makes tasty lunches and ensures you always have drinks and snacks to keep you satisfied. Ethan and Wendy are excellent hosts for your outdoor adventures! Both are very knowledgeable about the activities and the places they they are involved in guiding. They have taken the time to invest in their business and known/trusted partnerships to deliver a quality experience you can count on. I recently undertook a fly fishing trip on the Deschutes River near Maupin, OR combined with a second day at Justensen Lakes near Grass Valley, OR. The entire itinerary went exactly as planned. Expectations were set clearly and were not missed. Both Ethan and Wendy are wonderful people and are simply a joy to be around and travel with. I will qualify, (since Yelp suggests that you shouldn't review if you have a connection to the business owner) that I do know Ethan and Wendy and have had a professional relationship with Ethan in a different and unrelated line of business in the past. However, I must impart that I did truly have a wonderful trip, and if anything, my experience working with Ethan in the past should benefit others reading these reviews as I can vouch for both his integrity, work ethic and knowledge over a more substantial period of time. Reason for 4 stars instead of 5: The fishing waders I used the first day had a leak and I wound up sloshing around with a few extra pounds of water. This wasn't AAO's equipment, rather brokered rental equipment, but nevertheless, AAO will want to put that extra ounce of pressure on their partners to make certain that others don't encounter similar circumstances. For the record, of 6 on our trip, I was the only one who had leaky waders, and they were promptly replaced for the following day. I will be considering AAO again in the future and am already thinking about trying out the river SCUBA trips to swim with and watch the fish in their native element! read more

What an experience my fiancé and I just had with this company! We were wisked away in their AAO van which was comfortable, clean and full of snacks. Our trip was recommended to us by Ethan and Wendy based on their knowledge of what WE wanted to get out of the trip. It felt completely customized for us. Our adventure was to Elk horn mountain range to Anthony lake which we had never been to before and it was stunning! Once there, we were completely catered to in a way that we have never experienced before. They had all the equipment ready to go for us. In our particular trip we wanted to do some fly fishing and hiking. Ethan couldn't promise us we would catch any fish, but he did give us all the knowledge needed for what the fish would most likely be feeding on. To our surprise we ended up catching so many fish that we lost count. When we returned from fishing, we had a warm, delicious meal ready for us. Wendy and Ethan always seemed to know what we wanted before we did. One of the most memorable meals was eating some of the rainbow trout we had just caught that day and their incredible take on s'mores, the best ever! The next day we decided to go hiking up Gunsight mountain and saw tons of wild life. AAO were very accomidating to us along the way informing us about the area. After experiencing this place we have decided we will be returning to this area again. Their enthusiasm is contagious and their love for the outdoors and Oregon is undeniable. Recently, Wendy and Ethan held a massive fly fishing 101 class for the Lakeridge High School Fishing Club members and family. It was an epic day with Wendy and Ethan, from start to finish. They were both extremely well versed about both the area and our particular fly fishing adventure, which was suited perfectly for our girlie group. Our levels of experience varied but Ethan navigated perfectly between us all, making sure we were not only having fun, but were experiencing success as well (and boy, did we!). There is something so oustanding about being able to just show up and have all of the proper equipment ready and waiting. Talk about being catered to! I had an amazing time with Ethan and Wendy at Adventures Across Oregon on our trip to Cater Lake last month. Being an lifelong Oregonian but having never been to Crater Lake before I had heard stories about how spectacular the area is but this trip blew away any expectations I had. My trip with AAO was an experience unlike any that I have had before. First off, Ethan and Wendy are first class hosts and all around good people. Everything was planned for us, so we could just enjoy fishing. I was a BRAND new fly fishermen. We did a two day trip. The first was a fishing trip on the Deschutes River, which was beautiful. It was like rafting down a mini Grand Canyon. The 2nd we went still water trout fishing, and I pulled in 13 fish! I went from never having fished before the trip to catching 13 in one day. I just got back from Ethan and Wendy's "Single Day Private Vineyard Lake Fly Fishing Adventure" and had a great time. These people are friendly and so pleasant to be around. You can start with Ethan's shop-talk class (currently $35) then move comfortably into one of their adventure trips. The class was worth every penny.
