We were absolutely delighted with Sweet Pea and Me, and so was Lucky! Dog-walker extraordinaire Sara Bartlett is one of the most dedicated, professional business owners we've ever met. She picked up Lucky during our long work days, took her to the beach for a swim, and returned her tired, happy and smelling like mangoes (she cleans the dogs after their swims with special grooming spray). Since Lucky is an older dog, Sara was very sensitive to her needs, and made sure that she rested when she got tired. Lucky seemed to really like Sara, and we felt comfortable leaving her in Sara's capable hands since she has a pet first aid certificate and is bonded and insured. For us humans, Sweet Pea and Me is a pleasure to deal with. All of our phone calls, emails, appointment requests and text messages were answered promptly. Sara sent us frequent texts and photos during her walks, notifying us of when Lucky was picked up, when she was returned, and how she was doing. Not only that, but every day after her walk, Sara left a cute little paper bag filled with a different flavour of truly home-made, organic dog cookies which Lucky thought were delicious. I would recommend Sweet Pea and Me without hesitation to anyone who has a special dog in their lives!

Not very many businesses ask why I took my business else where. The rates for doggy day care seem to be in the same range as the other locations. The play area is a bit small, however I don't mind it. It forces the dogs to socialize with one another.

He is anxious, and there were times he did not play appropriately with smaller dogs (he had too much energy, and he does not always recognize/respond to the other dog's body language of "please give me space." They gave me great feedback on how he was doing, but his trainer and I decided that daycare for my anxious dog would not let him be "his best self." I then transitioned him to their Woofer Walker Munchkin March pack walks, which is a much better fit for him. He gets to socialize with the other dogs in the pack walk, run himself silly, and sniff everything (animate and inanimate). Obi would walk over my dead body to get to Woofer Walker Judy! He is so excited when it is Woofer Walker day that he waits by the front door, staring at it until he hears the van pull up, and then loses his mind. Judy is very patient with his excitement. They let me know which days would be the best fit for him regarding the other dogs' personalities and play styles, so he goes every Tuesday and Thursday. They also post videos of some of the highlights of the walks and post pictures - it is the highlight of our evening to watch the videos! I've downloaded some of the images since they are great shots!

As I met more people, I had several people tell me about Woofer Walkers and decided to try them. My dog is always excited to go to daycare when we arrive. He loves so many of the staff and I always feel like Ali'i is in good hands. There were a couple of times when I had emergencies come up and the crew was always ready to receive Ali'i... they are always patient and understanding when things come up. Northwest Boarding Kennels seemed like the perfect place for the pooch. We thought it was a great…read morefit for the little guy and that he would get the best care possible during his stay there. Unfortunately, soon upon his return home his personality and character told another story. He went from being a dog that would sleep all night on his own, and being able to stay home during the day to a dog that would go into panic mode when ever he was alone. He was no longer able to be alone for longer than 15 minutes without panicking. It was quite sad to see. It has been over a year now since he was at Northwest and we are still working on getting him back to his normal self. He has gotten better and can manage being home alone for a couple hours but even then that can be pushing it some days. It is always sad coming home and seeing him at the door panting uncontrollably and drooling profusely. I just want my little pooch to be back to his happy go lucky self. For a while his vet recommended he be put on medication that would easy the anxiety so we did that for a few months and then we weaned him off and just continued to work on leaving him at home longer and longer in hope that it works. He now also goes to daycare any time that someone can't be with him during the day. He used to go to daycare 2 times a week just so he could play and socialize but now it is a must for him to go so he isn't home alone. It has been a long year. I wish my pooch could speak for himself and tell us what happened but he can't so with his response to being at Northwest he won't ever be going back.

Northwest Kennels has nice large covered areas for dogs to play and socialize during the day. Dogs are grouped by their size to ensure they get the most fun out of the experience. The service from the staff was excellent, you could tell they really enjoy taking care of the pets. I think Casey is looking forward to his next visit.
